Question Test the difference between Amniotic Fluid & Urine??

    Hello

Someone mentioned in one of their posts that you can get something from the pharmacy to tell the difference between urine & amniotic fluid....

Does anyone know what its called or where I can get it?

I've tried 2 pharmacies and they've never heard of it...

i dont think you can get it from a pharmacy - but your middie or GP should be able to test if you have concerns - everything ok?

I have seen something called AmnioPad at the chemist. It is in the family planning aisle but it is expensive. I would go to the midwife and get her to check instead.

Thanks for the replies. Nothing wrong, just a wet patch in my knickers and me hoping that I'm not becoming incontinent! Unfortunately, I think I am!

I'll keep an eye out in chemists and see if I can find them - AmnioPads - Thanks for the name Alioops.

you are bestt go to hospital and get checked if you even think it may be amniotic fluid as if left for a long period can cause an infection.

Smell the liquid amniotic fluid is sweet smelling like seman, wher as wee smells like wee.

Definately get some panty liners, cause if it's not always incontinence (and don't be embarrassed, it happens to everyone) it's extramucous. If you do think it's your waters, then it has it's own distinct smell too - kinda sweet, but I also think really earthy too and completely different to what urine or mucous smells like - I had a smell of mine when I was in labour with my 4th just so I'd know what it smelt like LOL.

With my last pregnancy I leaked amniotic fluid slowly but surely for a day. It was continuous, as opposed to the leakage I am currently getting> I was like you, wondering what it was, but I find this stops, whereas the amniotic fluid didn't stop. I went in to the hospital and they tested it, said yes it was amniotic, sent me home and said I had 72 hours until needing to be induced. Luckily DD came that night. xoxox
