For those who have done shared care with GP

Can a GP do a internal or a sweep or do they tend to leave it for the dr at the hospital?
I'm sure next wed and have an appointment with my GP on Saturday before he leaves for holidays, then not another appointment until my one at the hospital on the 24th by which i'll be 5 days over. I want to ask him to do an internal and sweep but not sure if this is something GP's do.

    Anyone know or have experiences?

It depends on the GP and what his qualifications are.
Mine is qualified to practice obstetrics obstetrics, so he can but doesnt tend to unless you really want one.
HE attends at the hospital and delivers the baby though (assuming he gets there)

My GP won't. Like Pandora said, it depends on their qualifications. My GP is not obstretics trained, so if I were to want/need an internal & sweep, then I'd be required to attend the hospital and see an OB.

Thanks Girls. I'm not sure on the qualification. I do know they have to do extra study to be able to do shared care so I'll ask.

I had a stretch and sweep and my gp wouldn't do it - Had to go up to the hospital... But in saying that your gp may be happy to do it. Good luck!!
