    U/S @ 17 weeks

my 18-20w ultrasound is booked in for the 23rd Jan... this was when my EDD was 18/6/09, but has since changed to 2/7/09 so when it comes around, ill only be 17 weeks, rather than 19. they are completely booked up, and there is no way to change my appointment.

im not sure what to think, will this be ok? will they be able to do/check everything as if i were a few extra weeks along?? im worried, but att he same time, im not sure if i should be worried??

    i need some feedback!!!

The place I went to wouldn't let me see them until 20 weeks, they said 18 weeks was too early. I hope that your scan place is more flexible, however be prepared for them to ask you to come back a few weeks later for another scan, or to reschedule the scan.

    HTH and enjoy the scan!

Yeah, maybe just ring (if you haven't already) and ask if it is still ok to have your scan at that time. The place I was originally going to would only do the scans between certain weeks too

I had mine at 18wks 3days. Call them and tell tehm your dates, If they are booked up and cant accomodate you will probably ahve to book in somewhere else as that does seem rather early.

If you let them know your dates have changed they may have to change the date anyway bcos bub may not be right age / developmental stage for the morph scan. That happened to me and I managed to get squeezed into a cancellation.

    Hey Rach
I had a similar experience and ended up being around 17ish weeks when they did bub's scan. It was still fine, the u/s guy wasn't worried at all about it being early.

Rach, My OB said they like you to wait till 20 weeks as that`s when the heart is fully formed, he said even at 18 weeks can be too early.

I`d be ringing them and letting them know that your EDD has changed.

Hi Rach, maybe try calling them and telling them your dates have changed and see what they can do to fit you in around the 20 weeks.

i had my birth centre appt today, and while i was there the midwife rang through to radiology (sorry, i should have put that in my OP!) she seemed to think it'd be ok, and she did explained to them my dates had changed..

perhaps i should just go to my gp and get a referral and go to the pace i had my 12w scan done? i would prefer to wait a bit longer.. it seems like i just had my 12w scan...

Rach, I had a scan at 16 weeks specifically to check for cardiac anomalies due to a high NF measurement at 12wks. My sonographer was confident he'd be able to see everything he needed to see at that point.

Interestingly he could also tell the sex of the baby at that point.

    I think you'd be fine.

Maybe call the place and see what the person who will be doing the u/s thinks? After all it is them who need to be the most confident in their own abilities.

i'm just going to go to the ultrasound on friday, and see how we go. i'd be happy to have to come back @ 20 weeks(or whatever they suggest) for another scan anyway. Also, it may give us an extra change to find out the sex! which im really anxious about actually!

I had mine done at 17 weeks and 6 days and it was fine. They were able to see everything they needed to, and even tell me that they were 90% sure that we are having a girl. I went in on Christmas eve and couldn't wait until they came back from holidays, so that's why I went then. They seemed to have no prob with it. I just told them I was 18 weeks, not 17 weeks and 6 days ... what's one day!

Good luck and enjoy it. It's awesome!!
