If she has terminated due to a certain gender I would say she must have a genetic reason to choose this. Some conditions only affect a certain gender. Can't list what they are as I don't know most of them. Haemophilia is one (it can affect girl but is very rare) but not sure what some of the others are.
It is very rare to be only able to carry one gender although it does happen. Alot of people self diagnose or assume they can only carry one gender however most of them its probably more of a terrible co-incidence to m/c or have stillborn babies of a certain gender. Medically it is rare.
My DHs aunty has the condition. I don't know the name of it, but she lost a singleton pregnancy (boy) and twin boys but has three girls and she was diagnosed with it after losing the twin boys
she may have been passing on an X-linked sex chromosome disease, which is more likely to affect a male as they only have one X chromosome. The more common sex-linked diseases include haemophilia and Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).

I know some Vietnam Vets who were affected by agent orange couldn't concieve boys. I have an uncle who falls into this category and he has 2 daughters...
Some genetic anomolies will make one gender miscarry as a process of natural selection. Sorry if that sounds a bit harsh, but that's what I believe happens!
This may have just happened to my SIL whose boyfriend says that his family have never been able to carry girls (comes from a huge family of only males!).
eeek! massive family of boys would b scary Nettie!! my family has majority girls, so the boys are all quite quiet except 1!! im doomed i think cos DF's family has 3 generations of just boys *sigh* im planning on keeping on trying (within reason) until i get at least 1 girl!!!!!!!!!!!!

If a woman carries a recessive gene (such as for haemophilia or duchenne muscular dystrophy) her male children still only have a 50% chance of having the disease. This is because Mum has 2 X chromosomes to pass on, and (if she does not have the disease) only one of these will have the disease gene-> therefore 1 in 2 chance of a child getting the disease gene.
This (women only able to carry children of one sex) has come up previously, and people reported knowing others that it happened to but nobody knew the name of the cause. If someone does know the name it would be really interesting (to me) to get more info.
remotely related, my cousin has been told by 2 doctors that she cant have boys, as in get pregnant to a stage where she knows shes pregnant, because she is allergic to her husbands sperm.
But yeh in the case you are talking about Id be wondering whether it was something genetic, and if so whether she's had testing done?
