    Question Vicks?

I am sooooooo sick at the moment with bad congestion, coughing and general blah-ness.

I am wondering if it is ok to use Vicks whilst pregnant? So far everything I have read doesn't give me a definite answer... some say yes, others no. I can't get into the Dr until this afternoon so thought I would ask the opinions of all the wonderful BBers.

    TIA.

I have read in a few places that camphor (one of the ingredients of Vicks) is not safe while pg so I would say no . . . but it is worth asking your doctor about this afternoon.

I think some of the vapourises use a Vicks mix that doesn't have camphor - you can't put it on your skin, but you can have it going in the house. That should be safe because the ingredients all seem safe for pg . . . again, check with your doctor though.

I really hope you are feeling better soon, Lisa. Not much fun being sick at the best of times let alone with a family to look after and being pg. I hope your DH and kids are all taking good care of you .

Thanks TG. Unfortunately we're all really sick, so we're all just looking after each other. My poor DH unfortunately still has to go to work. I'm not a fan of Anti-Biotics but I am considering them, especially for my DS2 who has had this flu for almost 2 weeks now My older kids have had almost a week off school too which sucks.

Oh that's horrible! Maybe putting a vapouriser going in the house would help all of you feel a little less congested. Even with just steam coming out can help congestion heaps.

I always take cold and flu tablets when I am sick (and not pg) and I give my kids Dimetapp when they get sick (which I swear by) so I have no advice for things that you can do to help you feel better.

I really hope you are all starting to feel better soon and that you can get some rest while having to look after sick kids

I went to the Dr this evening and I have a chest infection... my DD and DS2 have chest & lung infections

The Dr & the pharmisist both agreed that Vicks is fine through pregnancy, the pharmisist even looked it up on Mims (?) just to be sure.
I am going to put some onto my chest when I go for a shower... hopefully it will help unblock my sinuses.
