    Red face Waters or discharge?

How do you know if your leaking??

Lately i have felt awfully wet...and i have no idea why..its never happened in my last 2 pregnancys.

Could it just be alot of EXTRA discharge???

I feel embarrassed by it and always tell DH i feel as if ive peed my pants

I feel the same and mine is just a load of watery looking CM. I would asume if its your waters it'd be trickling down your legs? But im not sure cause whenever my waters broke it was with a huge gush. When's your next appointment? If its soon just ask them to test it, if not maybe ask to go in if you are worried?

I have an appointment on Friday at 9am....so if i dont feel to embarrassed ill bring it up....im not very open with people face to face on these kinda issues!

Ive never had my waters break so not sure of the feeling....however, i remember when Jasmine was born the Dr commented how little fluid there was and then i mentioned that i felt (kinda) similar to now and they assumed id been leaking for a good 1-2 weeks prior to her birth.

I best keep an eye on it!

    Thanks for your help!

Kim with each of my pg's my extra discharge has become more and more, to the point with this pg I've either got to change undies two to three times a day or wear a panty liner.

If your worried give the hossy a ring, I did this last week as I thought my waters were trickling and the just did a swab and it was negative, so not to bad.

    hugs xoxo

    Hi there Kim

I've had this really bad from about 20weeks - to the point where I've been to the hospital 3 times to get it checked - yep that's right 3 times with the speculum and a swab - and each time (thank God) it came back negative - mine has no colour, no smell and is quite runny.

It could just be that you have a little bladder incontinence and unfortunately the more pregnancies you have the more liklihood that it is this - however I'm still not convinced as it doesn't look or smell like urine.

So long story short, I'm on the nanna incontinence pads (how embarrasing) but they seem to keep me dryer than just liners and I have to change them 2-3 times a day - that's how "wet" I feel - which has gotten worse as the weeks have progressed

I'd definitely mention it on Friday but FWIW I thought I'd share my lovely experience with you - and I did have something similar last time but no where near as bad and no where near as early.

Hey are you carrying lower this time?? that can be a factor also....I'm carrying this baby very, very low

a friend of mine (who was a week off due date) thought she was wetting herself for about 3 days before she had a routine check up. they tested it and it was her waters. so anything is possible. hope its all ok for you, but i would definately get it checked out. :-)

Thanks Amanda and Dianna....you have made me feel better....!

Bub is always very low so that might not be helping...and def the more babies i have the worst the bladder can stand up to prressure!!!

I have been having the same issue, one day last week i actually felt like i had wet myself a little bit it was that bad. I felt this warm gush and thought **** i have peed my pants I was with a client and had to excuse myself!
Panty liners arent cutting it for me anymore.
Hopefully you will receive piece of mind today - as the other girls said, ask for a swab. Its quick and easy.

When I had leaking waters with DD it was pretty distinctive - I could feel a really warm, almost hot (sorry tmi ) trickle of fluid. It was like when you get out of a swimming pool and water comes out.

It just felt really different to normal discharge. I guess that's not much help but odds are that if you're still not sure after a few days, and it is a leak, it's a slow leak and they will usually resolve themselves. Just keep an eye on it and hang in there.

    1. Spontaneous Rupture of Membranes (SROM)

Commonly known as the ‘breaking of the waters’, this happens when the amniotic sac (which surrounds the baby) ruptures, resulting in amniotic fluid trickling or gushing from your vagina. This happens as the first sign of labour in around 15-25% of labours, so it’s not as common as the TV soap operas would have you believe. You may notice a smaller gush of waters or sometimes it may be an enormous flood. Some women also notice a ?€˜popping?€™ sensation as their waters break.

Amniotic fluid can leak for days and even after the waters have broken, the fluid will still be replenished. If you suspect you have broken your waters, pop a pad on (do not use tampons) and call your midwife or labour ward who will ask a few questions to help distinguish what has happened. Sometimes it may be a bladder leak - don't feel embarrassed if this is the case, as its quite common in the latter stages of pregnancy.

Some indicators that your waters that have broken are:

    * Having no control over the flow
    * A panty liner is inadequate to absorb the fluid
    * The pad is wet more than once, and
    * It doesn’t smell like urine

Some women describe their waters smelling a bit like 'semen,' so if you do notice a smell, mention this to the midwife. Your waters should be clear or may have a pink tinge to them. If they are green, brown or any other colour you should get checked out by your doctor or midwife.

Waters usually break during the night, some wake to their waters breaking and some wake to go to the toilet and find their water breaks as they get up. It can happen other times also.

A good way to tell is to check yourself in the morning; if it's pee, then there shouldn't be a lot there from when you've slept but if it's your waters, you might feel a bit of a 'gush' when you sit up.
