Hey Blessedatlast, I haven't read all the responses either but can answer your question about how I feel. I didn't have any alcohol at all nor did I have any while on the TWW. I also went on our honeymoon overseas for a month and did not have any alcohol after I ovulated. I guess it's a personal decision much like smoking, we all do know that those things are bad for our baby and in an ideal world would not put them in our bodies while pregnant. I loved my red wine before having a baby but not enough to risk bub health by drinking. I can see how lots of woman do have a glass and I have no judgement on them. If I saw a drunk woman on the other hand I'd be shaking my head.

I had the odd drink with both my pregnancies, more so with my second. Tended to be at social functions and I would have a glass or 2 of champagne (ok, it may have been 3 at the BB Christmas dinner).

It was when I was pregnant with DD2 that an article came out about drinking in pregnancy. It basically said what has already been said, that alcohol cannot pass through until the placenta is functioning. Also that the blanket ban on drinking in pregnancy was prompting some women to seek terminations as they had been drinking before finding out they were pregnant and thought they had done major damage to their baby. So some experts believed the the no alcohol rule was causing more harm than good.

I drank in all my pregnancies from the 2nd trimester onwards. Only ever 1 unit (usually a small glass of wine) per day, and only max 3 times per week. If I drank one week I would have the next couple of weeks off but in general I bought a small bottle of wine and had a little per night until it was finished.
