I was very similar, only put on 6kg with my pregnancy and lost a lot of my appetite...however after bub my appetite increased threefold and I put on 5+kg in the month following. However it's slowly starting to go back down again, fingers crossed I've got a wedding to go to in August
I put on no weight until U was over 20 weeks pregnant with the twins...and trust me I had a massive bump so it was all coming off elsewhere! I asked my ob about it and he basically said babies will taje what they need from you, and not to worry they were developing fine.
BY the end of the pregnancy I had put on about 20kg so I didn't worry any more. As long as you are eating to hunger and drinking to thirst then you will be giving your body what it needs.
Hiya - thought I would "weigh" in on this debate Sorry, I am in a silly mood. Seriously now...................before I fell pregnant I was 58kg and 162cm. I lost a couple of kilos in the first 12 weeks and was back to about 56kg. I stayed this weight mostly until my 20 week appointment and I was 60kg. So I had put on 4kg in the month since my last Ob appt. It was over xmas though so I wasn't too worried. Then at my next appt after that I had put on another 3kg! So that was 7kg in 8 weeks. I have another appt tomorrow and I weighed myself last night and I think I have put on another 3kg, but that's in 3 weeks. So seriously that is 10kg in 11 weeks. I weigh 66kg - the heaviest I have ever been in my entire life. OMG And I am only 28/29 weeks so still a fair while to go which means alot of weight opportunity OMG AGAIN
So to respond to your question, I wouldn't be too worried unless your midwife or Dr mentions something. It is still early days yet and hopefully for you, you are one of those lucky ones that only puts on a little bit.
*sigh* i remember the days when i weighed 66kgs but then i am tall so i was rather skinny at that weight.
I will mention it to my MW but i think im doing ok, i have moments where i eat quite a bit and others not so much, In a way its good it will teach me to eat smaller portions after the baby is born. And hopefully i can get back to my original weight of 66kgs.
I think you'll probably put weight on at some stage unless you were quite a bit overweight to start with.
The fact is that skinny people generally put on more weight than overweight people.
I was overweight. Didn't put on any weight until very late in the pregnancy and ended up putting on 8kg in total, most of which was fluid. I know this because I lost 13kg in the week following the birth so ended up 5kg less than when I started.
The same seems to be happening in this pregnancy (although I was a normal BMI when I conceived). I've not put on anything so far and it would be lovely if that continued but realistically, it won't. My portions are much smaller than they used to be because I can't exercise so therefore don't need to eat big meals.
I am 5' 8" and started my first pregnancy at 70 kg and lost about 5 kg after the 1st trimester. I only gained a few, maybe 6 kg by the end of the 2nd, and then gained about 22 kg in the 3rd. I wasn't doing anything different and I was walking regularly and not "letting myself go." I don't trust the weight-gain rates they put in all the books. I think you can tell if you're being reasonably healthy. My second pregnancy, I gained a lot less and also started out a lot lighter but I still had the same weight gain pattern as in the first with it all being in the 3rd trimester. Everyone's different I guess.
