Pretty low chance - but probably a good excuse to frighten the living daylights out of your DH for a few weeks![]()
DH had a bit of an 'oopsie' moment last night, we were DTD for one of the first times since having DD (who is only 13 weeks old) he wasnt wearing protection and... well i dont think i need to spell the rest out..
i reminded him that i can still get pg and i was pretty mad at him for 'getting lost in the moment" he rekons he didnt know that and that i should have told him(we usually just use the 'pull out' method when not wearing protection)
i havent got my period back yet since havingher, and im bfing...
are my chances as high as if i wasnt bfing? im woried coz i fell pg first go last time, im more concerned about hom my body will hold up with like no recovery time
any advice would be awesome
xx

If you haven't had AF back yet and you are BFing, I would say there is a low chance too. While BFing isn't an absolutely foolproof contraception, it has always worked pretty well for me and my first cycles after my previous babies were not fertile ones anyway. Everyone's different though so if you are worried take a HPT in a couple of weeks time to be sure.
I think for BF'ing to be anything close to resembling contraception you need to be feeding 4 hourly around the clock.
I did not have my period back, was still BF'ing 6-7 times in 24hrs and i fell pregnant. My DD was 7 months old, so a bit older than yours, but it is still possible.
You MAY have some protection, but you also MAY be pregnant.
yes we will def be more careful fromnow on thats for sure.
of course if it turns out that i am, then im in for a tough couple of years with 2 babies being so close together, DD probably wont even be 12 months if i do fall pg now, and like isaid im happy to do it obviously coz i love my babies always its just i dont know how my body would hold up with them being so close together iykwim but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it![]()
The agreed things you need to do to rely on BFing as contraception (about 98% effective when these conditions are met) is called the Bellagio Consensus, and requires:
- baby under six months old
- baby must be exclusively feeding from the breast (no pumping, even)
- feeding should be on demand and at least this often: every 4 hours during the day and every 6 at night
- your period must not have come back yet (not counting post-birth bleeding, obviously)
This info is from Lactational amenorrhea method - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
So it really depends on your feeding frequency, I guess. Of course, even if you meet all those criteria there's still a small chance, just as there would be with other contraception. (The 2% chance though is not 2% for every time you have sex, it's that 2% of women will be pregnant after a year of using this method... not that you can even use it for a year, but you get the idea.)
