What do Braxton Hicks feel like?

Just wondering if anyone can describe what Braxton Hicks feels like, and how early do you usually start feeling them?

    Hi ClareBear,

Braxton Hicks - you will get a tight feeling across your stomach and your stomach rises, if you feel it it feels all hard when it is over your stomach will drop and go back to what it was like before the BH they don't last too long and usually aren't too painful( at this stage of the pregnancy)

I've got a wobbly tummy I call it my nice shield for bub that was already there before I was pregnant -if you know what I mean Would I still see my tummy go up and down, or will it just feel tighter?

You would probably see your tummy go up and down and yes it would definately feel tighter - well i always did with mine but then again i guess we are all different. How long have you been getting them ?

Clare I get a stitch type pain at the end of the day if I have been active, and when I have it my belly is quite tight.

Not quite sure if I've been getting them or not - I feel silly not knowing! I ocassionally get a firm pressure feeling down in my lower tum, almost like a downward pressure, then it goes away - wasn't sure whether it was bubs movin or BH, not sure whether it was too early to feel BH or not.

Don't feel silly for not knowing darl, it could be either one it's not too ealry to get BH but as you get further into the pregnancy you will become to know the difference between a BH and bubby moving...Does you tummy go hard or is it just the pressure?

Just the pressure at the moment I think, but I will pay a bit more attention now

I had a contraction at my 12 week scan believe it or not! And the sonographer said we have contractions all throughout pregnancy, we just dont' feel them until later on. There are triggers for contractions (like orgasm) but I am still not sure if they are called BH from early on.
I had a contraction last night and it was very painful, I wondered if BH were painful. You'd think on pregnancy 3 I'd know, but I don't! I do know my friend said she would cry with BH contractions as they hurt so much..
