    Pelvic alignment and baby's position?

This is just more out for curiosity as I know there is heaps of time for him to turn, but is it possible that if your pelvis is out of kilter, that it could prevent the baby from turning? I know it can play a part in them not engaging or being malpositioned, but just wondered if it can stop them even getting head down?

Sherie - definitly! I saw a chiro who specialised in pregnancy care and attends workshops designed to help align your body to help breech, posterior and malpostioned bubs. She was fabuous and I know that she is the reason my posterior bub turned as soon as labour started. I also am sure she is the reason I only had to push for 20 min instead of 2hrs with my first who was caught in my pelvis. Absolutely something to look into. Good luck

The chiropractic technique for pelvic malpositioning is called the Webster technique. Try googling it for more details. I tried this for my little one who was breech (although it was his head that was stuck, not my pelvis causing problems we discovered) but I also used chiro for my SPD.

Hi Sherie - my experience is yes to engaging, but no to baby turning. I have a "crooked pelvis" (I was born with it) and my first couldn't engage (he was head down from about 36 weeks, but posterior), I had 12 hours labour - my contractions were 2 mins apart and I was only 3cm dilated as his head wasn't far enough down to cause pressure on the cervix. Had to have emergency caesar when he went into distress. With my 2nd bub I saw a "pregnancy specialist" chiro - she was BRILLIANT!! but unfortunately I developed a different complication at 35 weeks and had to have another emergency caesar, although Jesse's head was engaged and he was positioned correctly. Again this pregnancy bubs has turned head down 2 weeks ago and is facing the right way (yay for my back!!), so I def. recommend specialist chiropractic!! (although now that it's head down my pelvic floor is crying for some relief!!!). Ring a chiro and ask over the phone maybe...

Thanks everyone. Steph, I have been seeing a Chiro for the last 10 years and always through my pg's. I had a visit with him on Wednesday and again the previous Wednesday to sort my hips out which are really giving me trouble. I will ask about the Websters technique (thanks Michelle) and see if that can be an option.

There is new stuff out about breech and chiropractic, my hubby has been seeing a chiro who does the gonstead method and he has some information for me, excited to read it, apparently very promising!

Ooohh Kel, you'll have to tell me more about it. I know it isn't anything to worry about now, but it is handy to have the info JIC.

Sherie - it does pay to see a pregnancy specialist as from what my Chiro was telling me there are only a few dedicated out there and not many have heard of the webster technique. There was a conference in Australia about 5 mths ago from the US who were here to teach it and other special manouvers especially for pg
