I was told by my Scottish midwife that I had with my first two (she was old school too - she's nearly 70) that generally if your second is a boy, then they can be bigger, but if a girl, more likely to be smaller. But it's one of those things that you just can't predict - you went way overdue with L, and were induced, but this time you might go earlier and he could in theory be smaller, cause he wasn't in there as long, but there is no way of knowing until they are born.

As you know for me, DS was 9lb 3.5ozs and 56 cm, one day early, but DD was only 8lb 8ozs and 52 cm one day late.

    2*niece -5lb 15oz - 2 days early
so in her case her second baby was a lower weight - she had alot more fluid with anais tho.

Both boys, born a couple of days before 40 weeks, #1 was 9 pound 4, and #2 was 7 pound 9. They look very different though, obviously got a variety of genes we're passing on!

I think , as Trill says, it's just luck luck luck...

    DD#1 50cm, 3.52kgs, HC 35.5cm - 5 days OD
    DD#2 51cm, 3.63kgs, HC 35cm - 9 days OD

What I've found really interesting is that they have both grown at the same rate - there is still that 100grams difference in weight at each MCHN check up.

thanks for all your replies, it's very interesting isn't it?

thanks for making it a poll too kelly

i think you're right trillian, it seems that it may just come down to luck in the end. i think people are just scaring me into thinking that based on ds's stats, this one is going to be a wombat.
