This will be our last pregnancy sadly but I have a bit of a dilemma. I really am a bit desperate for some maternity clothes. The ones I have kept fron DD pregnancy were already ones I had from 2008's pregnancy except for a few extra BF tops I got from Target.
Maternity clothes are SO expensive and I really have very little money to spend anyway.
I don't mind seconds and Ebay has been great.
Except I have a birthday coming up in a couple of weeks. I have no good black maternity pants AND there is a top I really like.
The top plus postage is $90 and its a winter top but not really suitable for everyday wear as its a bit ruffly and girly (ie really not suitable for farm life)
I'd only wear it for a few outtings but I am finding hard to justify the purchase A) knowing it'll only fit for 2-3 months B) it'll only be for good occasions and there really aren't that many coming up C) its NICE but I dunno if its $90 nice iykwim
SO I am wondering, all things considered would you buy an exxy top like this knowing its your last pregnancy?
Nope I wouldnt buy any nice $ mat tops for my last! I only bought a few extra cheap (eg $10 or $15) at target and PP during DS2 preg rest were from DS1.
I do have a few nice tops that I bought in DS1 preg that I wore a few times in DS2 preg, not sure of size but can find them and check if you like, pm on FB or here if you like. May be too big for you!!!!
TBH whether it was my last pg or not I wouldn't spend $90 on one top, I don't even spend that when I am not pg I would be more likely to keep looking and find something else and it might mean that you can find a pair of pants and a top for the same price. If you don't think you will wear it much afterards either I definitely would keep looking, I wore heaps of clothes while pg that weren't pg tops, just normal tops that were a few sizes bigger than I would normally wear! Meant I didn't have to buy up alot of maternity clothes that tend to be notoriously excy. Good luck!!
Mmm, well I just commented on FB to get it. Now reading this, not so sure
I wouldn't unless I knew I had someone I could pass it on to. If it's not something you would wear day to day then no.
I would spend a bit more on the black pants that you would get more wear out of and get a couple of nice every day tops. I assume it's not BF as well?
With DD I invested in a couple of those belly bands and bought tops from Giordano and Cotton On.
Wow - the only pregancy clothes I bought for my first (expecting others at some point) was one pair of mat. jeans! I wore a lot of loose-fitting clothes instead. OK, they became tight-fitting but looked fab. And I can still wear them. Can you borrow some things from your local chums?
I recently bought a fairly loose ruffly blouse for £8, so the bargains are out there if you look outside of maternity.
Personally I would be tempted, but would shop around a bit more first. I regret not getting a very nice maternity dress with my first pregnancy for a wedding (it was designed to be wearable when not pregnant as well).
Just a tip, check out places like Autograph, a lot of their styling works well with pregnancy and they go down to a size 14 now (sorry don't know how big or small you are, so please don't take offence). Last pregnancy I picked up all my "maternity" clothes from there and even found some tops on special for $5 each. Ok, they were not going out tops, but a nice enough for everyday to get me through the pregnancy.
Personally I'd get it IF you can spare the money, and if it is your last pg why not celebrate the fact with a nice top? You can always sell it on ebay for half the cost maybe, or you can say it hasn't been worn!!! lol. Why not keep the tag, don't wash the top (so no drooling or spilling stuff on it) and maybe you'll get most of the money back! hehehehehe. Bad Beata, bad bad Beata! lol
Thanks so much for your replies ladies. Sadly the top is not BF friendly otherwise it wouldn't have been a tough choice considering I hope to be BF this bubby next winter.
I have been searching on ebay but haven't seen much there seems to be SO little out there. I am a 14-16 and went up to a not quite 18 when preggy with DD so I have no idea what size I will be with this one I have started the pregnancy lighter.
Its such a tough call I see $90 and think that would buy me my 3 fruit trees to complete my orchard or 3 camillias to complete a screen between MIL's and our place not to mention the gorgeous stuff I could get for DD for $90 or put her swing set on layby, or hubby's replacement ring but to spend so much on 1 top I couldn't even wear it once a week because I don't go anywhere special enough ............ but its SOOOOOOOOOOO lovely
I would buy it just make sure you get some really nice preggy photos wearing it and it will be worth it! I also think it's handy to have something nice in your wardrobe for anything that comes up last minute!
I wouldnt even buy a normal top that costs that much and this is our last aswell and I wouldnt buy it. I just cant seem to justify the cost. Though.. im more than willing to spend that much on DD... how does that work? lol
I know if it was me - i wouldn't do it. Most of my maternity stuff was hand-me-downs except for a couple nice new tops i got from my mum for my birthday- would've been under $20 and i wore all the time. But i did buy a maternity dress for $40- my most expensive item i ever bought- i got heaps of wear out of over summer and a little bit more wear out of it just after DS2 was born- as it was nice a flowy. I could get away with wearing now- as it not really maternity looking (but last summer it seemed a popular maternity dress- so i didn't wear it- but might get it out this summer if i don't see many pregnant women wearing it). But then again i don't like spending much money on normal clothes - i probably still wouldn't buy it at $90 even if i was a normal top...lol- but i am a bit of a scrooge with money.
But if you love it- get it. Maybe you can try to then sell it on ebay for close to purchase price if its still in excellent condition???
Nae, I have a Belly Burton, short sleeved wrap dress in a paisley type pattern, stretch material that I wore maybe twice (?) in a size L and also have a top (needs a tank top underneath) that looks still ok but is a size 20 ( I did wear this one alot but it is still in good condition) - both were going to the salvos. You can have both - am happy to post to you.
Ok, get thee to Pomegranate. I know - no maternity clothes. But they DO stock a lot of winter Vigorella - stretchy, warm and very, very stylish...also tends to be no particular size and flatters ALL...so will serve you well for BFing and wearing POST pregnancy till the threads fall off and I swear by Vigorella! About as exxy as what you had on your FB page, but you'll wear well after pg Some very sexy and cool layering options in that range this winter (as always). I give thee permission to spend money on sexy Vigorella...
