We told our parents, siblings and my 2 best g/f at 4 weeks. We couldnt hold it in any longer than that! We wanted them to share in our excitement from the start, and also wanted a support network if (heaven forbid) anything went wrong.

Wishing you all the best for a happy and healthy pregnancy, and good luck for your scan

i wish i had the opportunity to "announce" the good news.
call it mothers intuition but as i was sitting in the waiting room at my GP, my mum called me for a "chat" when she was gossiping away she asked where i was after telling her i was at the doctors (i absolutly did NOT mention anything) she said in one guess.

    YOUR PREGNANT
now everyone who knows me knows i cant lie!

as for the rest of the fam we told them at about 12 weeks

We told the parents about 6 weeks. I had kind of avoided them before this because i can't lie and thought it might come out.

I told one sibling and their partner at about the same time because i had some spotting, they had previously lost bubs and i knew they would be supportive if we needed them.

I waited til after i had a scan to tell another sibling because they wouldn't be a great support, and i didn't want to have to support her if something happened. I would have waited longer but they were getting together with the parents and the sibling that knew, and i didn't want it to slip out and there be more drama because i hadn't told her.

So, there are reasons for telling, and reasons for waiting. We sort of based our telling on whether we would also tell that person if something went wrong with the bub. But it does get hard sometimes.

We told my family at about 6 weeks, the day after Mums birthday, that way everyone was around and i wasnt telling one first kwim?
DH family was told later, around 10 weeks, maybe 12, cant rememebr now.

I told a friend early (after Mum and Dad) as she was about to go round australia and i didnt want to tell her on the phone. A couple of other friends new early...
one of my workplace knew at about 9 weeks as i am a nurse and i couldnt work with some patients pg. the other workplace i told at 14 weeks (my boss was away when i hit 12 weeks)

The other friends i told at 12 weeks and i was on a Liver clensing diet so i couldnt drink alcohol or any processed foods!!! that was the best and most plausable excuse we could come up with.
Most people were told after the 12 week scan thou

We wanted them to share in our excitement from the start, and also wanted a support network if (heaven forbid) anything went wrong.
    Same here.

We waited until the first blood tests came back though, to make sure that the pee-stick was indeed right and my HCG levels were at good levels.
    I did let slip to Mum though before hand, because the day before our BFP we had just ordered my wedding dress and I was pretty sure the size I got wouldn't fit me at 6 months preg ><;

There really isn't a right or wrong time! And alot of different factors compell others to tell sooner or later than others. I'd just go with whatever you feel right with.

Congrats to you and your DH and here's to a happy and healthy 9 months!

When I was preg and had MC our parents knew and a few close friends of mine, and a few at work (as i started bleeding at work).

When preg with DS parents knew straight away i think DH rang my mum then his within 5 mins of POAS!! Then my closest friends knew in case I needed support if anything went wrong, work knew as time went on as people talk! and lots knew at DH work as he tod them, then everyone else after 19 week scan. Including our siblings

This time Parenst know and and my closest friends, DH work and some at my work (I only do work 1 day a week so havent seen many to tell them), rest of friends and siblings will find out after scan next week.
