Good places to get 3D/4D imaging in Melbourne?

Hey guys! DF and I are wanting to have a 'fun' scan at about 32 weeks at a 3D/4D imaging place, but have no idea where to go. We'd like to book soon so I thought I'd get the question out there.

Where did you go? We're in Footscray but happy to travel a bit for a good place, especially around the Windsor/St Kilda area...in fact anywhere bayside especially.

How much did you pay? We know it's exxy

What did you get, and was it good value for $$? We'd like pictures and a DVD.

    Thankyou!

I had a referral for a growth scan at 34 weeks - went to Melb Ultrasound for Women in Hampton. I am not sure what they do without a medical referral tho?? It cost about $300 from memory and was 3D with pics and a DVD but I am not sure if they guarantee it ITMS. Maybe ring around and see?? I went there for both DD's and they were amazing!!!! Would highly recommend them as I had some issues and freaked out and they were great....not that that is where you are coming from!!

I had mine done at Melbourne Women's Imaging in North Melbourne (oppostite The Women's). It was $250 including DVD and pics. I got some back from Medicare, but can't remember how much. Ask for Dr Charles Stiles as he is lovely.

I've also noticed they are in Williamstown, but haven't been to that clinic myself.

Thanks Mak, we know the Hampton area well so we might try giving them a call. I know lots of people get a 3D/4D for 'fun' so some places must do it, but hrm, I wonder if you do still need to get a referral, didn't consider that

ETA oooh thanks Fiona! North Melb is very easy to get to! Did you need a referral? Or did you just call and book?

I suspect you won't get any of the medicare portion back without a referral.

This will be too far out for you, but someone else might search this thread later so i'll mention it anyway- Reflective Imaging in Wallan were wonderful. They do 3D/4D and have a lovely couch that your partner (and others) can lie on while he watches the screen. No referral needed for the 3D/4D and you get a disc of pics.

Im not near you PZ, but had mine at Newcastle Ultrasound for Women. They have clinics all around like Sydney and Im sure Melbourne too. Highly recommend their work! We just had to get a referral from the GP and away we went, not for medical purpose. I think ours was about $250 21 months ago but we did get money back from medicare, then again I may have plucked that figure from anywhere

Good luck, they are soooooo amazing at 30 weeks

I went to Early Image in Pahran for DD's. It was fantastic. You can google them and they will come as they have their own website with costs, packages, galleries etc.

From memory, we got a DVD with 4 songs of our choice as the background music and all the pictures taken. Cost about $270 ish I think. You dont get anything back. We drove 3 hours to get there and will be driving there again for this pregnancy

    Hey PZ

At Sue Hisc o c k s room in Williamstown (walking distance from the Williamstonw North station) the Ultrasound place can do both. She has a huge plasma screen and can flick between 3D and normal, you can also get a DVD as well. It cost around $250 and I got some back from Medicare, a fair chunk If I remember as my safety net had kicked in.

    It's Melbourne Women's Imaging

That makes sense. What would I say to my GP, just that I wanted to go? Thanks so much for the suggestions and for the name!

Yep! I doubt you are the first and nor will you be the last person to see your GP only for the purpose of a referral to someone else.

Thankyou Skye that actually sounds like what we're after, we're not so worried about the $$, just a place that will make an effort for nice happy snaps!

Thanks guys! I ended up calling the one in Malvern, as I'm taking my mum and it's easy for her to get to. Very excited!
