I have cared for a number of pregnant women having a GA - they are usually given as little as possible. Coincidentally, most are around the 20 week mark. I have cared for some who have been 10-14 weeks but usually they are in the second trimester.
Another option would be to discuss the possibility of a spinal and, if they are concerned about your emotional/psychological well being during the procedure, some mild sedation. I've had a few patients have rigid cysto's under spinal with sedation before.
As others have said, ask as many questions as you need of your caregivers. They won't mind. Keep in mind, they're not going to suggest something that they know will hurt the baby.
Thanks ladies, this is the third time it's happended & it's a lot of bld. This time it lasted a week, it's settled a bit today but on a urinalysis it's still reading moderate. I did ask if it could wait but the urologist stated I couldn't continue to loose that amount of bld & remain well. I' just frightened but I'm sure they wouldn't do it unless they thought it was what I needed...
