Has anyone had an oopsie baby after IVF?

As a bit of background... Alexzander was conceived after 26 months & we were booked in to organise IVF with our FS when we found out I was pregnant with him. We were given about a 10-15% chance of conceiving naturally & we somehow managed it. I went on the pill after he was born up until he was 9 months old. We TTC naturally for 18 months then conceived Juliette on our first ICSI cycle. Aaron's SA results have progressively gotten worse & we were given a 2% chance of falling pregnant naturally just before we started the IVF cycle.

Now here we are with Miss Juliette two months old & I've been thinking about contraception..... Is it worth it really? With a 10-15% chance 4 years ago to a 2% chance last year what are the odds really that we would have an oopsie pregnancy? I suspect our chances would be low still, I doubt his SA would be better now, a year later. I had said before if it happens it happens, it's a blessing after everything we've been through. Now though having had a second emergency c/s we really should wait until Juliette is 9-10 months old before going through another pregnancy.

So yeah what I am really getting at is, what are the chances of us ending up with a surprise baby??? Does it happen often?

Not me but I know of 2 couples this has happened to.

One had 2 IVF bubs as they had tried for years to have kids with no luck. They found out at 12 weeks they were having No 3 which was a HUGE surprise.

The other couple had 1 IVF bub and went on to have a surprise one about 3 years later.

Oh lady - I wouldn't take the chance. Like Murphys Law you might fall as soon as you decide not to bother.

Especially if you have concerns about another c/sect so soon. Do not, repeat do NOT rely on breastfeeding!

That's what I was thinking LuLu, as soon as we leave it to chance Murphy's law will bite us in the bum! Had my VBAC been successful I would have left it to chance & had we ended up with #2 & #3 close together then so be it, but now I don't want to risk rupture or any of the other complications due to having a pregnancy before my wound has fully healed.

Looks like condoms might be on the shopping list this week LOL!

Well whilst there is sperm there is a chance in essence, slim as it may be.

My personal feeling is that there is a great chance of oopsie pg where the issue relates to endo or cycle issues. When the issue relates to sperm (especially the more severe cases) then I'd say the chances of oopsie pg are relatively low. But anything is a possibility....
