It took me 3 years trying naturally and 1.5 years via IVF, I did a total of 10 assisted cycles, I had 8 TWWs, I got my first positive on my 7th ET. Mine was a bit of a hard case, I did test positive for MTHFR which is a blood clotting issue, and after taking Clexane injections on my first full cycle I got my BFP. If I had known about it earlier it might have made a difference. I think my first 5 transfers I was very positive, it did get worse though, sometimes I was bordering on depression. For this cycle, I was very neutral, but I think it gets harder to hope the more tries you have. I didn't have any particular feeling that it was going to work.
In saying all of this, from what I have seen, most get their BFP on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd transfer, it is just the harder cases like me that take a little longer.
So you can have every hope that it could be the next one that you get your BFP, wishing you all the best. xx
I had 3 cycles using clomid of which only 1 cycle we were able to try and concieve naturally due to the other cycles producing too many follicles. Of course the one cycle we were able to try didn't work.
My Dr wanted me to then try IUI but I knew in my gut that wouldn't work as I was producing too many follicles in my clomid cycles and didn't want the dissappointment of having cycles cancelled over and over again, so we went straight to IVF.
Our stim cycle produced 30 eggs of which 18 fertilised and 15 matured. I had 1 fresh transfer which resulted in a very low BFP which I m/c a few days after the BT. Then elected to have 2 x FET's transferred for our next cycles because 1. we had quite a few frosties and 2. I didn't want to do single transfers every cycle to delay knowing if they would work.
1st FET ended in a BFN and 2nd FET resulted in a very low BFP which kept increasing but resulted in a suspected ectopic which dr just monitored as we had 2 embryo's transferred they were unaware if any implanted in the uterus. Sadly m/c 3 days after release from hospital.
3rd FET was done which I knew would be my last for 6 months or so if I got a BFN and went in with little to no hope. 2 embryo's were transferred and 6 days after transfer did a POAS and got a faint positive. The only reason I took the test was because I was starting to feel cramping and had a sore lower back so was sure AF was on her way, no sore BB's, no bloating. At BT a week later confirmed BFP with a HCG level of 308 so thought both had implanted, at 7 week scan it was confirmed we were only having 1. So maybe the symptoms were our successful embryo implanting or the one that didn't implant being absorbed.
So basically we used 7 embryo's to acheive our current pregnancy after 4 IVF/FET cycles over 7 months, who knows if it may have taken longer if we elected to have single transfers each FET.
I don't know if my story is of any help to you at all but good luck with your dream of being a mummy soon.
Hi Krikket - Not long till testing day now. Good luck!
It took us nearly 2.5 years all up, including 2 IVF cycles (but only one transfer as first was cancelled).
I had OHSS so couldn't really detect early pg signs (due to extreme bloating and pain), but I did have some bad cramping about 5 days before test day and thought af must be coming.
I came off the pill 6 years ago come december. Passively TTC for 3 years, then got some testing and found that I have endo and blocked tubes. Had some surgery and a couple of HSG's - got a BFP following my second HSG which unfortunately resulted in a miscarriage. Had an IUI in Feb this year - BFN but my Dr feels that my tubes had blocked up again so we did IVF in July this year and got a BFP.
I got every single side effect under the sun from the progesterone and it made a very good job of making me feel pregnant - but then it turned out that I was anyway, so I'm not sure if it was the pregnancy or the progesterone or both - probably both really.
As for feeling different, I had no idea how this was going to go. As I was getting what I thought were progesterone side effects anyway, I really didn't want to get my hopes up.
Good luck sweets, I really hope you get your BFP.
Sue xx
we started trying Oct 2006 and started IVF October 2008. Went straight to IVF due to PCOS, and DH's motility and mobility issues. I also had a large dermoid tumor removed in that ttc naturally time. I was also on metformin (horrid stuff).
Our first IVF cycle included BFN for both the fresh transfer; and the FET in Feb 09. WIth the first cycel i was pretty sure it was going to work... just felt lucky. So was devastated when it didn't.
Did another full stim cycle in March 09 and got our first and only BFP that month (now nearly 26weeks). We have 2 frosties as well. with our BFP I was already planning our next full stim cycle as I felt so much like it hadn't worked and was not confident in the frosties.
I think that was a protection mechanism. But i even made DH ring the clinic cos I couldn't handle hearing the bad news at work again..... so i was floored and didn't believe him when he said it's a BFP! (it's still sinking in lol).
So for me, I was really hopeless at 'telling'. And i tried really hard not to read all that much into the 'symptoms' of the TWW (although that was very difficult).
We started trying naturally in Jan 06 and went to ICSI in about the September of that year we told our GP a little white lie and said we had been trying for a year cause I just knew something was wrong it turned out my Dh has a very low sperm count and motility issues. We did 3 full ICSI cycles but only did 2 transfers as one cycle was cancelled as I ovulated on my own and on our first natural FET we got our first BFP (our gorgeous son!!) and that was also the first time we transfer 2 embryos.
This time we did 3 FET all up the first 2 BFN and the last one was a BFP and we also transfered 2 embryos on that cycle aswell.
As you can see from my sig I had 2 stimulated cycles, with 2 fresh transfer and 2 frozen transfer. Got BFN for the first fresh transfer and the first frozen transfer in that batch of embryos. Got both BFP for the second lot but on the 2nd frozen transfer made it to the end. I now have a beautiful girl who is quitely sleeping by my bed at the moment. I have 4 frosties and hope to achieve another BFP in about 1.5 years time. I didn't feel anything different in the TWW and was in fact dissappointed because I POAS on day 11 post ovulation and got a BFN. I was peeing a lot and because I was measuring my temperature I had another surge in temperature on day 13 post O I did another POAS and got a BFP.
Jessie, can I ask you something. Your second child resulted from the same batch as your first child?? I have 4 frosties and am dreading the idea of pinning my hopes on them for our second child.
kahlan yes they are from the same batch! We put our last 2 back and I was so scared it wasnt going to work again and now I'm pregnant with Aiden's twin he he he (just born a couple of years apart!)
