Hi Everyone,

Hopefully I can do a few persies today.

Lise - Congratulations on the 6 month mark - well done Mummy! And Happy 6 month Birthday little Finn.

Barney - Thank you for sharing your story with us. You really have made your way through some hard times. I know that I have done some things in my life that I am not proud of, but I am a real believer in the fact that what we go through and survive makes us better people. I never look back and regret anything as it has all contributed to the person that I am today. Be proud of the fact that you have come through all of this. You have learnt the hard way what is important in life. You are a wonderful wife and mother now because you survived. I am sure that it is a very difficult time at the moment with your young daughter being pregnant - I hope that she comes through it all and gets to enjoy being a Mummy. And well done on taking the first steps in dealing with your anxiety.

Kelly - wow your bump is AWESOME! And well done little Tara on the first steps - watch out she will be running before you know it.

MadB - Hey there! How are you settling into your life as mummy of 2?

Grub - wow 16 weeks - gee that seems to have flown by!

BOC - Congrats on the first stps in your house also!

Murph - I don't know what to say - Little Jazzy is just awesome!

Hello Everyone else - I am not being rude, but I couldn't see any further back in the posts whilst writing this. So I apologise for not mentioning everybody byt name - I love you all though!

AFU - well life is hectic in our household. Miss J is just amazing and astounds me every day. She is now jumping, trying to skip (looks more like a gallop at the moment), speaking 2-3 word sentences, mimicing every word that she hears (yes we have had to make sure our language is very clean in our household). She comes up to me and says 'Mummy, cuggles" (cuddles) and it just melts my heart! She knows most of the words to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and will sing it on her own. She can count her toes (up to 10). This is what it is all about girls - these are the moments that I thought for such a long time that I would never experience. But I am so truly blessed to be this little person's Mummy - sometimes I still have to pinch myself to believe it.

oh janie that was so well written! you gave me goosebumps! Yeah Ash is so enjoyable at the moment- and from what you say it just gets better! I can't believe i'm insane enough to do the whole baby thing again so soon lol.

oh lise that's so great! you feel so good when you reach that 6 month mark eh! especially if you've done it tough. We made it to 7 months and i raised the white flag. would have loved to have fed him til 12 months but he wasn't real keen on that and our fet plans ruled it out. I really feel that whatever stage you make it to - be it 18 months or 8 days - you should be proud of your efforts. It's really hard for some people and what really annoys me most is when others think they can judge someone else's life/choices. sorry just need to climb down from my high horse...

thanks kelly. Yeah the last two days or so i've done an earlier lunch and he's in bed by 11.30pm/Noon and sleeps from 90 mins to a few hours and then stays up til bedtime that's 7pm here, tonight it was 6.45pm. Mind you it's a real stretch for him but I refuse to put him down for a nap at 5 or 5.30pm. So i think his morning sleep has been dumped. just like that, cold turkey! strange cos just last week he was having 2 hrs in the morn and 2 in the arvo, but now i think that was all the moving and new house etc.

madb - how are you coping with the 2? please, please please tell me it's easier than the 1st time around

Well done love, I struggled with Campbell and made it to 9 months, but my milk ran out because I had gone back to work when he was 7 months and had stopped feeding throughout the day. It was really hard work and often quite painful.

But with Boobie boy Xavier I am still feeding him now, he only has 2 feeds a day and will stop these when he is ready. I go back to work in three weeks OMG but this doesnt effect his feeds as they are morning and night. He was so much easier to feed. although we had no choice he wouldnt take a bottle at all.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend, I have been reading but not posting as we are all sick.

Janie, sounds like Miss J is an absolute delight!! Glad you're having so much fun with her, and glad to know also you think it gets better and better! I was looking at Finn the other day thinking how gorgeous he is at the moment and how I want to freeze time. Not that I don't think i'll enjoy him even more when he's bigger but he's just so much fun now, I want to remember every minute!

Grub, hope the no morning sleep is going okay for you guys!

saph, now that Finn is over his reflux he's also turned into a big boobie boy Hope you're feeling better now

Hello to everyone else, hope you're going well. We took Finn to the pool yesterday to see if he liked it any better than the beach. He didn't cry this time which was a good start (!!) and although initially he was a little uncertain after a while he started splashing and seemed to enjoy himself. Wore him out though, we got home and he had a 2.5 hour sleep which he hasn't had for quite some time! And speaking of naps, I think i'm going to have one myself also. night night all!

Ok little brag moment...... Lincoln is walking He took his first step last Sunday then full on running now. but lots of stacking too. he's so proud of himself.

I spent four days in Darwin for my birthday DF for 30th b'day prezzie to remember and got back to Lincoln being so hard to put to sleep unless he's so tired he falls over.

Need a little help wise mums. He's almost 1 still wrapped to sleep then arms out when he's asleep or he'll poke my nose and fling his hands around until I give up and wrap him, He was going to sleep in his cot for me (nobody else) with only a couple of patts but now he wants to be rocked to sleep, last night he screamed for 30 mins before I gave up and handed him to DH who only took 5 mins of rocking him to sleep. I'm tearing my hair out. I know (or have read) you should be letting them self settle, which he does after a night feed but not for his day naps or to go to bed. HELP NEEDED

Congrats on Linc walking, Tara now finally has the hang of this walking thing and wants to go everywhere now...

As for the sleeping thing, I would just go with the flow... Tara is normally a fantastic self settler but we had a week of her wanting to be held to go to sleep (only by me) and she refused to go down for day sleeps as well. It turns out that she had a molar coming through and when she has something major happen in her little world she likes the comfort. Now though she is back to normal - or even better than before - as she is going to bed between 7 - 7.30pm with no complaints. She even goes into her bedroom when she is tired to let us know she is ready for bed, and now that she is walking it is really taking it out of her and she sleeps for around 14-15 hours at night.

So you might find that at the moment he wants rocking to sleep and very soon he will change again and be happy with something else. These little ones have so much happening that sometimes they just want some reassurance.

I agree with MadB. I know it is hard because everyone tells you what they 'should' be doing, but I believe you should do what ever works for you at the time. Don't forget he has just developed a major new skill and that is going to unsettle him a lot. By the way a big congrats to Linc on starting to walk/run.

Kelly, you look GORGEOUS! My mum had twins, my younger sisters. But this was back in 1975. Ultrasounds weren't used routinely so with the way the baby's were lying they could only hear 1 heart beat. Mum got HUGE, so huge the doc actually put her on a diet! Anyhow, mum went pretty close to full term went into labour gave birth to the first baby and got given injection for delivering the placenta. Next thing she heard the doc go 'wholly s**t, there is another baby in there, quick pass me the forceps' Mum is a nurse and thought 'no baby of mine is going to have forceps around it's head', so she gave an almighty push and out came my the sister. That was the first she knew that she was having twins. Oh and after the doc had put here on that diet, she was back at her pre pregnancy weight almost immediately! Just a funny little story for you.

hi all just a quick one!
DS's birthday today! Had a great day although he didn't really know what all the fuss was about.
On a sad note found out today that my laptop is dead and the photos on it are all the baby photos! I have tons of photos on my phone but the quality is not as good. Most of the photos are on facebook but i am not sure if i can copy them from there. Also i have some of me breastfed which are really special to me and facebook have been deleting breastfeeding photos as obscene! I would be devastated to lose them!

Hi everyone. I thought it was about time to pop my head in. I've been mostly sleeping/feeding/changing/burping since having little Rossi just before Christmas but he's managed to give me a bit of a reprieve today so I'm grabbing the opportunity!

I'm not sure how regular I'll be on this forum, I'm predicting less than I was on the Pregnancy after LTTTC one! I didn't realise how draining this motherhood gig was! It was only today that I managed to update my ticker as it was saying I was 43 weeks pregnant!!

So hopefully I'll get some time to read back a bit to hopefully get to know you all. Already I can see a few familiar faces

RRH a big happy birthday to your DS. Sorry to hear about your laptop. You can definitely get your photos downloaded back off facebook. Have you taken your laptop to an IT specialist to see what they can recover?

Hi everyone else - just another proud mummy moment. Jazzy can tell me what colour things are. She knows green, blue, yellow, red, pink, purple, orange, brown. She gets it right probably 95% of the time. I can't believe she can do this already at 21 months old! Also, she now walks up and down stairs unassisted by me, obviously holding on to one wall.

the good thing about moonlighting on both the preg and parenting forums is I don't have to learn all the "new'' members names etc! lol.

sorry i missed your birth announcement!! but congrats on Rossi's arrival! don't worry, it does get better and soon you'll find the joy in that quiet moment when bub is asleep and you get to sit down, have a cuppa, put your feet up and belly belly! lol.

Janie - that's so fabulous! what a clever jazzy you have!!!

LRR - can you get someone to try and retrieve the ics? you should be able to copy from fb no worries, but do it quick and it'll depend on how much you ressized them before posting. otherwise, start calling yoru family and friends who you emailed the pics to! That really gives me the hurry up to do another print run... every few months (okay i've done it twice in a year) i try to print off ash's pics and put them in an album. i love digi but once they are on your computer, you hardly look at them again!

watching this flood coverage and feeling so sad for all those people and seeing some scary footage of people trapped in cars. very very scary stuff.

green - i'm hot! not too bad the last few days tho as it's been rainy so much less sticky. As for sleeping, i found that every few months ash would do the same. Only go to sleep by being rocked. it'd last a week or two and then he'd be happy to send himself off again in his cot! But we do play harder ball with him now he's older, i'm preg and my back ain't up to rocking a 10kg baby off to sleep every night! I use to use my fit ball to bounce him off, if that helps.

but i'm very big on him having a pattern (routine is too strong a word) so that we both know what we are doing. Mind you we are really struggling with him waking at night atm ... it's the trauma of the big move up here, extremely extremely loud thunder storms, thirst and the occassion number 2! was up for 90 mins with him last night, he was just really upset and needed hugs... Mind you DH went back to work yesterday and he finally only went back to sleep when I woke DH up to go and try his cuddle touch - Ash went straight off!!!

Grub, don't know how you cope with night time wake ups when you're pregnant, I was tired enough just being pregnant so I very much hope Finn is sleeping through by the time we have number two!

Green, i'm totally the wrong person to ask about sleeping as Finn is exactly the same. He NEVER self settles, and what works one week doesn't always work the next. What I do try to do though is don't stress about how he gets to sleep as long as he sleeps. I figure he has plenty of time to learn how to self settle when he's ready. Congrats on Linc walking, how exciting!

Finn had his 6 month needles today so he's actually sleeping for once, lol! Mind you it's in our bed, but as I said before i've given up stressing about how I get him to sleep as long as he sleeps. Having said that, I would rather he slept in his own bed now that he's rolling a bit more but at the moment he doesn't seem to realise that he can roll over in our bed but i'm sure it won't be long before he does and then i'm in trouble...!

Green dont worry about what he should or shouldnt be doing, do what is right for you and your family. Both my boys slept on their tummies so I am an advocate for do what is right for you.

Hope everyone is doing well. Only two weeks until I go back to work. Oh and after telling everyone that I was still breast feeding Xavier has self weaned himself and is only having one morning feed. He is even taking a bottle of cows milk at night. He is not really wanting the morning feed but I am not ready to give it up. Well not until I go back to work.lol

Barney you are inspirational. If only people would talk about these things the stigma attached would lesson. You are a wonderful mother who in spite of the difficulties you have faced have made decisions that benefited your children. If people cant see this then they are not worth the time of day.
