Parenting after Long Term TTC #7

oh kelly that's such great news particularly that they are growing so well! you must be so relieved.

and ash does the same, i put him down when tired and sometimes he's out like a light (today for the first time in months he fell asleep while having his arvo bottle lol) and other times he sings and plays and jumps around like a goose and then all the sudden is cactus.

marcellus - good call. put your feet up for a bit... time is running away from us and soon we'll really really have our hands full lol. Oh and DH calls it stalker-cam ;) I sit there at night watching... "he rolled over, isn't he cute"; "oh he's got his legs through the bars of his cot, isn't he so gorgeous''; and last night "he looks sooo adorable in those little boxer shorts, don't you think DH??? hey? don't you think? DH? our son, gorgeous... looooookkkkk " :ROFL: this was followed by "yes" and nothing else! Hubby left the room soon after this harrasement took place... and told me to switch the monitor off lol. Not like our house is huge that i can't hear him cry from the lounge tteeehhheee

lol Lenny - sometimes when bub is being particularly feral and I just need a break, I'll got out the back and hang out washing. it's the only place on our entire lot that I can't hear the whinging! AND i still have to do housework! ripped orf lol.

hey murph, just wanted to give andy heaps of kudos for his great work... and for his sidekicks obvious talents... lol about the slave labour... whenever DH 'helps' me, he always says i can pay him "in sexual favours'' lol what a dork! but he will do anything for a grope lol so works out well for me ... get work done, get a feel up :dance: HAHAHAHAHAHAH (no girls haven't been drinking) :o

and with that tasteful comment, I'm going to have dinner... watermelon and rockmelon.. the meal of choice for me lately! do you think i'm having a fruit fly instead of a baby??? am sooo getting girl vibes by the way

Well, it's 8am and Jazz is still sleeping. You know why? Cos I went back to doing things my way, which means snuggles all night, feed on tap and blissful morning sleep-in! Yes, I agree with all your comments but I thought for sure you were all out there with this wonderful supernanny style routine stuff going on for you and here's me with the guilts over our haphazard approach. I know it's dumb but Jasmine has always had a natural bedtime rhythm of 9.20. Everything must be done and dusted and preferably everybody in bed with lights out by 9.20. It doesn't matter where we are, it's just always been that way so I started to think I was doing something wrong when everyone else seems to have this 7.00 routine figured out. The thing is it really works for us, there just seems to be some pressure I feel, like I've got it wrong.

I'm like you Kelly, Jazz gives me all the signs and I know all her times, but then I go and do a dumb thing like yesterday trying to follow that book and not only do you feel like a failure when you follow the method to the letter with the words "this will work, I assure you" and you get to the 40th lay-down after the 15 before that didn't work and the 20 minute interval in-between and it didn't work and you start searching for the trouble shooting guide for "what if it didn't work?" You just feel like a tad bit overstretched and useless...not to mention tired and guilty and the poor child is sooooo confused. So yeah, don't follow books about sleep when you are tired. After that little effort she didn't trust me all day and didn't sleep once through the day. Nice effort.

I hit DH up about that baby monitor idea after you mentioned it a while back Grub and well I mustn't have had a very good argument cos he kind of laughed at me. He likes to be convinced why we need something and the spying thing didn't really hold enough sway. Dang that blood intellect gotta baffle him with some scientific mumbo jumbo to get one over him. Speaking of wqhich, he just came home and needs the puter, so I'll have to bail and come back later.

murph - i mainly use ours cos the other monitor kept playing up. But we didn't pya a fortune for it either... DH bought it at one of those online warehouses - you know they have like 5000 of one product and sell it super cheap til it's all gone.

But now he's older, i like being able to keep an eye on him and know when he's actually asleep, when he's playing quietly, when he needs me and when he's trying to pull the pictures off the wall! I have found it very useful but it's like pay television, once you have it you can't go back to normal tv cos you were psoilt for choice lol

ps my foxtel is getting disconnected on monday BOOOHHHHOOOOO

OH and i love 'watching' when dh goes into bub and doesn't know i'm watching... seeing him kiss and cuddle and nuruture him always makes me smile.

When I made that last post, I hadn't seen your post from lastnight Grub. Oh dear, you should at least have blamed the pregnancy hormones for that explicit material:rofl: Poor DH. Better watch those watermelon cravings. Doesn't watermelon stimulate the same endorphins as chocolate and chocolate is better than sex, so....poor DH:doh:

As for your stalker cam, I can see it would have its uses but hey I'm not averse to going back to my old staple entertainment I had in my no television years (the front-loading washing machine:clap::rofl: ) Now even Jazzy has discovered it and can sit for ages in front of it. I sh*t you not! Well she doesn't like t.v unless it's really energetic and playful. Those angry Thomas trains are not her friends so we like to watch our bubbles.

So it's official, our little pygmy Possum has lost weight. Not sure why and doc is baffled and says she's so healthy but now we have reached a weight that needs watching. she has always been 3rd percentile and now isn't on the chart. length 75cm and weight now 7.2 kilos. It's probably just that she's so on the go now and doesn't have that much to lose to begin with but they all lose weight around this time I think.

Marcellus and Lenny, you make me feel so much better for the odd few times I've put my child down and forgotten where she is. Those few minutes to yourself of feeling like you have no responsibility and it's bliss until you realise what a bad mummy you are. Have you tried searching an enormous house for a deaf child -no use calling:doh: One time I found her behind the curtains and I'd only just left the room. That was a good one!

I feel like I'm going to be evicted from this forum soon for having so many "me" posts. You've been so damn supportive of me and I honestly have felt so loved and supported here while going through everything over the past year and beyond. I will back off soon and go back to being a contributing member with helpful comments for others of you in need. I feel really selfish to take so much and share so much and i can't even think of anything sarcastic and self-protective to say. Just huge thanks and I can't wait to share the final pinnacle of happiness when Jazzy is welcomed to the world of hearing on Tuesday. We drive to Melbourne again on Monday....wooooohooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm just so happy to do the road trip back cos we missed posing with both the world's ugliest koala at Baglees Creek or somewhere, cos Jazzy was sleeping, and the world's lamest landmark in a town called Keith (a land drover on a pole). Oh my god DH and I havent laughed so much taking the p!ss out of anything in quite a while but unfortunately we didn't get to pose in Keith with the Landy on the pole and DH missed it altogether. We just HAVE to go back there!!

P.S Grub, I'm angling for Andy's next gig to take us to NT so we may just cross paths one day. I've got mates that run eco safaris in Kakadu and we have never been so we'll just have to move over there instead. Good luck with the move. Exciting stuff.

yeah murph i'm with the other's. I read it cover to cover after it was recommended by some friends (all whose baby's were bottle fed unlike Ash at the time) and promptly disregarded it.

i ended up giving it to a friend who was going to buy a copy. she mainly used it when her 2nd arrived to give her an idea of timings for managing 2 kids.

but I really didn't like the tone nor the do-or-die structure of it and I'm like marcellus, I just follow DS's tired signs and he goes to bed when he's tired and gets up when he's awake - and i find that he naturally has his own routine (which changes slightly day to day but is pretty much the same).

I do do some controlled crying (don't shoot me people!) but i think he's old enough to understand and I also am good at guaging his cries.

but we are also very structured in our bed routine

Anyway just wanted to let you all know we had our NT scan today... YAY... Without having bloods our DS risk is 1:1170 so happy with that and now no need for a CVS or amnio.

Twin A (right side) was measuring at 13w and seemed to be taking up all the right side and the middle and Twin B (left side) was measuring at 13w 1d and was all squished up. Twin B has always measured 1 day bigger in every scan so far, but I'm happy as they were growing (measuring bigger than our actual dates) and very active jumping around everywhere.

So next scan in 4 weeks time and fingers crossed both babies are cooperative and we get to see what sex they wil be....

Oh girl, you need to work this more! My friend used to have a chart system. DH did various "chores" and earned points for each one. The points were added up and various *ahem* activities had various points values. Well her house had never been so clean and tidy and all the "To-Do" lists were well and truly crossed off :D The best part was that her hideous MIL found the charts one day when she came to visit and "help out" (read: visit and tell her what a bad mother she was and how wrongly she was doing everything) so she took great pleasure intelling her MIL exactly what the charts were and exactly what the points her son was earning were going towards :rofl:

bahahaha, Marcellus there is nothing sexier than a man doing the housework but you need to make sure it includes all the **appy stuff as well *read clean the toilet* as my DH does the cooking, vacuuming and mops floors you need to make the chores something out of the ordinary to get "special favours"...

So funny you are all getting girl vibes, DH was sure at our 7 week scan it was one of each and after our first Ob appt he is now convinced they are both girls and I have thought that all along as well....(maybe because I can only think of girls names and not boys), we will just be happy to 2 healthy bubs anyway..

And Murph don't apologise for your "selfishness", I love reading your stories and it makes me feel like I see you everyday with your stories about your life and everything that is happening with Jazzy. I feel like you guys are more of friends to me than some of my actual friends - and I think a lot of that is because we have shared so much of our lives and journey's to parenthood and beyond together. Hope you have a good trip over on Monday - and pack the summer clothes it's going to be a couple of hot (not in Marcellus & Saph's opinion I'm sure) days in a row, I think 30 on Tuesday....

just said farewell to my lovely former boss. the man who let me go home at 2pm every afternoon for most of my pregnancy for a sleep and because has he said it was a case of "ddeerrr do not compute" hahahaha. but he and his wife and THE loveliest people and i'm so sad he's not my boss anymore... but i've got a friend out of it.

are half packed and half cleaned and it is just so impossible to do anything with bub about!!! pack a box and he unpacks it! or he's licking an electrical cord (not plugged in of course) and the latest... figured out how to unlock and open the front door... he fell out!!! i heard a little cyr and then the door shut!!!

i wanna go to bed :(

Oh my goodness, go away for a weekend and its to hard to catch up. Plus it takes 2 days to unpack and do the washing.
