Also I'm sorry I haven't been around here much. Last time I was here I was telling you all I was pregnant but sadly on the 19th December my baby grew his/her angel wings at 8 weeks

I'll catch up with all of you one day very soon..I promise.

Welcome to the thread Grub and welcome to the world little Ash.

I think we all felt that same way when our bubs first arrived - it is very hard to leave the pregnancy thread. But you are more than welcome to join in our ever expanding group here!

Hope you are travelling well and looking forward to hearing more about how life as a Mummy is treating you.

welcome Grub! so happy to hear Ash is here and you've made the transition to the parenting thread - the pg thread is a bit of a security blanket (same as the ttc one when we finally fall pg!) - but this thread can be your new security blanket now!

    Hi Grub,
Graduating can be tough, but we're all nice in here too

Well, I'm back at work. Or rather sitting around waiting for them to give me something to do (and surprise surprise, that means I'm on bb)
DS refused to go to sleep with babysitter. Sigh. It's going to be a long 6 weeks.

Take care all. It's b'dy hot here

Thanks girls. I'm not doing too bad some days but others I'm a wreck. I know with time things do become a little easier. I'm just so thankful I have DS to keep me busy and get me out of bed every day. I'm wanting to become preg again asap but won't be holding my breath on that one. I see my Ob on the 5th Feb to discuss our plans from here.

Grub Welcome to this thread and a huge congrats on the birth of Ashton.

Gotta go..need some sleep but hope everyone is doing well

thanks girls for the welcome and Hi BG! the good thing about the LTTC, Pregnancy and parenting threads is that generally it's the same core group of people so it feels very comfortable coming in here with you all.

Well he'll be 5 weeks old this friday and we've had a very bumpy breast feeding ride. first he couldn't latch and took about 10 days to figure out he needed to pop his tongue forward and now he is having some major wind issues. So much so it interferes with his feeding brh.

am trying reclining, different feeding positions and Infant's Friend drops, both which are helping somewhat but don't know what else i can do to stop him guzzling in air. he gets about 5 or 6 mins into the feed and then gets back pain in his belly - sometimes it's burb pain but i think mostly it's bowel pain. So we've resorted to using a dummy after he feeds as sucking it seems to help him push the bubble through (going on the boob just compounds the problem). So the last 5 to 10 mins of our feeds take about 40 mins because he''s got to sit up and get his wind moving so often. Anyone else had this or have any words of wisdom/advice?

marcellus - work sounds thrilling lol. I'm sure your little one will settle for the sitter.

We've got our 6week immunisations next week... any advice for helping bub get through? I'm getting my whooping cough and swine flu vax as well, so Dh reckons both bub and i will be in tears by the end of the visit lol.

might go get some shut eye seeing he's finally down. poor little darling, the belly pain woke him a few times after his feed and he's only just settled.

    Hi girls

Mako - I'm so sorry. I hope you are holding up okay.

Well stupid me, I just thought it had been very quiet in here, not realising that a new thread had started and Grub has joined in! So hopefully I will get updated now.

Hey Grub. That sounds very challenging with Ash. I had altogether different problems, and my nipples were ruined. Maybe try the breast feeding support thread where there is heaps of experience and LC (?Barb) is incredibly helpful. It's not always as easy as it sounds. However, I am sure with the right advice and lots more practice, you will both learn the way that suits you both and gets the best result. All the best.

Marcellus - Work, what's that? LOL. That must be challenging going back, something I'm glad is quite a few months down the track for me. I keep imaging myself at work a few months ago pre-Adam, and it seems like a parallel universe! Who WAS I?

A big hello to Janie, BG, KellyD, Murph and anyone else I have missed.

All is going well with me and little (big) Adam. He is 13 weeks and 7.5 kg. A whopper. I am so in love with this little boy I can't even explain. But I know that you girls all know exactly what I mean .

He is now sleeping 12 hours at night - 8 until 8 - with some loud giggling at 630am, but he goes back to sleep. He has a couple of cat naps during the day. This just happened one day. One day he was still waking for a 3am feed and then 7am, and then it stopped overnight. I start studying again in March and I was really worried about how I was going to do it with a baby, but now I realise it will be okay. He still has reflux and makes a real mess wherever I go, but I figure it's just a phase. The thickener works a little bit, but I think he just kicks and plays so violently that eh brings the milk up.

Anyway, hope you are all faring well.

    Welcome, Grub!

Just a quick wave from me this morning. I've finished breakfast so my computer time is at an end for now... Just hoping I don't walk back out to poo issues like I did yesterday!

    Good afternoon girls,

    Sorry have been MIA

Grub - so happy to see you in here!!!! Sorry to hear Ash is having problems with wind. Trent has had troubles since birth too and there isnt much you can do for it unfortunately. I have asked the MHCN and our GP and they basically have told me I need to "ride it out" Ive used Infacol drops since 4 weeks which has helped a little but not lots. I also changed him to Novalac (Colic) formula on New Years Day as I gave up b/feeding on Christmas Eve due to my small milk supply. This still hasnt really helped him much. I know with b/feeding and wind, you need to avoid LOTS of food. Such things like chocolate, caffeine, spicy foods and have even read dairy can set them off. I did LOTS of research on the net!!! So you may want to consider changing your diet. As for the needles, I found Trent was fine straight after them, only cried for a few seconds. Mind you, I was a MESS before hand, started crying because all these other babies were upset around me and Trent was sleeping peacefully and it upset me thinking what was about to happen I gave him baby panadol that night and he slept fine but was unsettled generally for about a week afterwards. Hope this helps.

Mako - sorry to hear your sad news and glad your not doing too bad. Im sure you will have your bad days and thats totally understandable. We are here for you

Neptune - WOW, thats fantastic that Adam is now sleeping 12 hrs I hope Trent miraculously does that soon. He's not bad now, he sleeps anywhere between 6 - 8 hrs a night if Im lucky but with his wind pain he sometimes wakes earlier the poor little thing. Im HOPING that by 12 weeks the pain will settle down. I found the thickener has worked for Trent although he still throws up but not as bad, lol I often found crusty bits of formula stuck to his face and hair when he wakes from a sleep!

Marcellus - hope all is going well back at work. I used to love it when it was quiet at work and I could get onto BB, hehe What a bugger your little man hasnt slept for the sitter. That part worries me with Trent and leaving him with others to take care of him. Even my DP has problems getting Trent to sleep for him Sleep is so important for them.

Hello to Janie, Kelly, BG, BW and everyone else

AFU - I took Trent to get his hearing tested yesterday as I was concerned he may have not been hearing everything sometimes and all is fine. I think he is just easily distracted, typical male! I have also picked up some great bargains on clothes on ebay for him. He is growing out of his 000 clothes. Its sad as it means my little boy is growing up so FAST. Cant believe he will be 11 weeks tomorrow! I want to get that hand and feet impressions done before he does grow up anymore and isnt so little. He is smiling and laughing lots, its just so adorable when he does it, even in the wee hours of the morning! We saw the pediatrician last week and everything else is good with him

I better run as he is starting to stir!!!

    Take care girls,

    Tania

E was a shocker for holding onto her wind - couldn't get her to burp at all - even now she does it - no solutions just sympathy!

she has been pretty good as far as bubbas go. sleeping through came to an end a little while back - about the same time teething started in earnest. still no toofs, but that's ok. she'll get there! she managed seven hours last night - i stayed up expecting her to wake around midnight for her feed - ended up going to bed, kicking DH out of bed in a panic about 2 cos she hasn't surfaced but she was fine - just full and tired! woke about 5 for a feed, went back to sleep for 20 mins, then woke screaming in pain while she filled her nappy - another nappy change, comfort feed - and she slept for 3.5hours (none of us surfaced til half nine!).

last night she had her cousin here for a sleepover (miss 9) and she is here til tomorrow - so E is in her element. having a sleep at the moment, but will be out and full of smiles for her cousin soon. Miss 9 is just gorgeous with her - went in the pool with her the other day (with about an inch of water in it - so it was great for E - not so much for her cousin! but they had a ball. last night she decided to change her first nappy - did pretty well actually! damn shame it was the one between the two horrifically stinky dirty ones! lol

ummm, still not crawling, but working on it. she is very mobile with her rolling though! has everyone wrapped around her little finger with her smiles and sweet attitude.

awwww i think i'm in love with my poppet! can you tell
