I have finally had the chance to have a quick read over where you are and decided to try to join in and keep up
Grub, happy birthday for yesterday. Yay for a new camera. I must admit we are guilty of taking endless pics, almost make a point of it on a weekly basis, they seem to grow so quick you can really tell week to week.
Hi Janie, I am glad work is going well for you, and sorry to hear Jasmine has been sick. I am not sure how I will handle it yet, but can imagine I would rather it be me.
Smithy, will have to check out your vid, thanks for keeping an eye on me too . Hope your daughter and new grandson are going well, do you have pics?
BW, BG and Green, you guys are great in your positive attitudes re going back to work. I am not sure yet what I will be doing, work has already offered me some part time work, but I am not yet ready to think about it. DH was out of work for the past year and we have just bought a business, fingers crossed that it goes well and we won't have the financial pressure we did last year. I do have the support of both my mum and MIL, and they would be happy to look after the girls one day a week each, but I am don't know if I can handle handing them over. It is a big decision and a hard one. Like Janie said, look forward to those big cuddles at the end of the day.
Hi Saph, Hi Marcellus, Hi KellyD, Hi Lenny, HI Poppyfairy, and everyone else.
I think I am having the 6 week wonder week. I am struggling a bit this week, I am tandem breastfeeding both girls at the same time, after starting off great with expressing and getting plenty of milk, and slowly changing over to all breastfeeds, it is had to know what I am now producing and I have been really worried they are not getting enough. The girls' weight gain has been good, however the last week they have been out of sorts every day from 4pm - 7pm, both on and off the breast the entire time, and with no break to swap breasts or to allow them to refill, by 6.30pm they are crying and frustrated and not wanting to latch on. It is exhausting. Luckily though that has been the worst of it. Otherwise they have been totally great, DH and I are touching wood as we walk around the house. At the moment last feed is 9.30pm-10.00pm, I am waking them at 3.30am for a feed and then they are sleeping until 7.00am. So I am getting some decent sleep and am just praying this continues.

Wow, to all those girls going back to work. I can't imagine how hard it is going to be for you all to leave your little ones, i don't envy you on that one. I'm one of the lucky (or could be unlucky) ones that doesn't have a job to return to. Good on one hand as I get to be a SAHM but bad on the other hand that we have to live on one wage and things can be a bit tight.
BDT: So happy to see you got some time to post, loved the pic's of you mum's group but geez must have been crazy. Just wait until they are all on the move that will be so funny to see all these little ones goign off in all directions.
Big hello to everyone else.
AFU: After our very stressful weekend, things are on the up which is good. Tara has now learnt how to suck her thumb (or should I say thumbs depending on which way she is facing), so the dummy is now getting used less at night as she will pull it out and replace is with a thumb. Only problem is that when she turns her head when asleep the thumb doesn't follow so then she crys and we have to get in quick smart to put the dummy in before she wakes up. Although this only happens when she is going to sleep and when she has her wakeful periods in the morning (about 7am). Also she has uped for food intake now, 3 full bottles (240ml's) and also 2 full meals a day as well and her new thing is wanting to stand all the time (with our support) but she will lock in her legs if you try and make her sit, so we have to let her stand until she gets tired of it then she will relax her legs to sit. Such big changes have occurred during this Wonder Week, she is growing so much.
Went to Melb yesterday for Tara's photo shoot and it went really well, got all of her shots down in like 10 minutes. She thought the photographer was a hoot and kept laughing at him so luckily we got some good shots. Fingers crossed we will get some work for her and when I get the photo's I'll post them for you all to have a look at.
Anyway, better get moving Tara has woken up and I better get some food into her. Have a good day all.
BDT -I cant believe how much sleep you are gettting. We have a feed between 9 and 10 and then again at about 1-2 and then between 4-5 and then again between 7-8. I have to say this is driving me nuts. But we are going away for two weeks in three weeks time so know that everything will get muddled up then so not going to do anything about it until after that.
Not much time, sorry, just wanted say to babydt - DS was exactly the same, 4-7 every night. I can't imagine doing that with two babies wow! Anyway, it settled down around 9-10 weeks I think. It's not likely to be a supply issue, just lovely old witching hour(s).

Baby Dreamtime I hope you don't have to think about work with your two budles of joy for as long as you like. Wonder weeks are fun aren't they I had a sleepy guy which was nice but boring for me. You're doing such a great job. I can't even imagine two Lincolns.

Grub moving is stressful enough without the work thoughts, how often does DH move or is at her magisties pleasure I too stalk Linc with the camera it's great fun
ATM new formula is going down a treat Linc loves it it's is the prescription one. But unfortunatly less wind but still hard poos, for now so talk to pead thursday. They gave me two sample canisters which was so nice of them.
Voted this morning and Blah it's such a drag. Yesterday we went out for the first time to friends for drinks (one for me I'm still so not used to it) Little man was great goos and gaaa's and loved the birst (up on a high deck in the tree tops) then settled and slept in the sling on me.
He slep in the sling on mums bed too so I'm thinking I'll have to use the sling to introduce him to the porta cot and nana's cot too.

Firstly I just want to apologise in advance for the big me post, but just need to get this out.
As most of you know, Jasmine contracted a viral upper rispiratory infection within the first few days of starting at nursery and everytime we think she is over it she relapses again. On Thursday nursery called me about 2:30pm and let me know that Jasmine had a rash across her stomach and back, but apart from that no temparture and seemed in good spirits. Come 4:30pm when DH picked her up her temp had gone up to 38 degrees and they gave her some panadol. I left work early and we went to the GP who looked at the rash and said that she could not rule out chicken pox, but it was too early to really tell so to come back on Saturday and she would have another look.
She went to sleep at about 8:30pm after some nurofen to bring down her temp and all appeared good. At about 1:30am she woke up and appeared just a bit unsettled. I took her temp and she was quite hot at 39.7. So gave her more panadol then a breast feed and took her temp again. It really hadn't come down so I gave her some nurofen. Started to breast feed again and she was a little fussy. So sent DH downstairs to get her water bottle and right at that moment Jasmine gave me this look and then went all stiff in my arms - and then started to have a seizure. She was full body shaking, eyes rolling back in head and not breathing properly. I just yelled for DH to come back and call 000. The next few minutes waiting for the ambulance are a bit of a blur, but I can remember just screaming that she wasn't breathing properly and what should I do. They told us to put her on the bed and wait for the fit to finish. I was panicing as I could see she wasn't breathing the way she should, but I couldn't give her mouth to mouth as she was still fitting. The seizure went for about 8 minutes, then she went unconcious. I put her in the recovery position and had to keep an eye on her breathing which slowly started to return to normal. Finally the ambulance arrived 10 minutes after we called - luckily 000 stayed on the phone with us the whole time as I was FREAKING. It took her about 5 minutes before she started to react to stimulation. They had her on oxygen as her levels were pretty low due to the 8 minutes of not breathing effectively.
So we got taken down to RCH to get her checked out and they confirmed that it is about 99% likely that she had a febrile convulsion brought on by the fever, brought on by the virus. They checked her out and observed her for a while and then we were allowed to go home with instructions to go back to GP on Saturday. Again she confirmed the above and said that Jasmine is now at a slightly increased risk of having epilepsy, but there is not any point testing for it unless she has a fit where there is no fever present. My family has a history of febrile convulsions with me having one when I was about 4, my older sister had one, and one of my younger sisters had loads of them up until she grew out of them when she was 5.
Jasmine is in pretty good spirits now, although she keeps freaking us out as her temp is still all over the shot. We have been adviced that we just have to try and keep her temp down, although the doctor at the hospital said there is very little you can do to prevent it from happening - in other words if they are going to have a convulsion, they are going to have one regardless of what you do to bring their temp down.
We are hopeful that this is just a one of occurence, and Jasmine will never go through this again. We are keeping her home this week (DH will work from home on the days that I am at work) just to make sure that she fully gets over the virus before going back to nursery.
Not the greatest start to my return to work - I am so lucky that my work is so supportive. The only thing that really annoys me are the damn parents who send their sick kids to daycare when they should keep them at home! I know this can be difficult at times and maybe it is the employers of these parents that I should have a go at more than the parents as it is probably them pressuring for them to be at work.
Anyhow, I have just written a novel, but it is nice to get it out as I just keep seeing flashes of the look on Jasmine's face when the fit started and also her not being able to breath properly.

oh Janie! the biggest hugs for you. I can't even imagine how incredibly scary that whole episode would have been love. YOu did make me smile when you said "at least it's not chicken pox"... always best to look at the positives i suppose lol.
i suffered fits as a child and outgrew them (was wrongly diagnosed as epileptic) so i completely understand the fear and concern you now have.
I really wish i could just give you a real hug love. I'm glad it doesn't seem to have done any serious damage to your precious girl.
bdt - i just want to applaud you for feeding your girls like you do. you are a champion. i can barely handle one!

question - When (if) did you get AF back post birth (BG i'd really love to hear your experience if you can share?) and what was it like?
i *think* i got af yesterday but it's so awfully heavy and horrible and I've been having nausea and dizzy spells that i went to ghe docs yesterday. I was told it's either an infection (another one!); a pregnancy/miscarrriage (ha!); or AF and am to wait and see if the bleeding gets lighter. Anyway i feel really terrible atm but am hopeful its just AF (that really bodes well for FET at the end of the year! while breastfeeding still )
Oh Janie how scary for you, my nephew also had convulsions when he was younger as well and has now grown out of them. My MCHN said it is quite common for babies to have them when they have high fever as they cannot control their bidy temp. Not a nice thing to think is going to happen. Sending you and Jasmine a big and hopefully she gets better real soon.
Grub: O.K the AF question. Mine started back 4 weeks after my baby bleeding and then it was 7 weeks after that and now I'm just waiting to see if/when she arrives again. Both times the first few days have been Heavy and it is lucky I still have maternity pads as I have had to use those but after a few days it then decreased and was all gone by day 7. Just after my last period stopped was when I was getting abdo pain and had an u/s which confirmed heaps of cyst had reformed but it was like day 10 or something and I could tell at that stage the the lining was already looking quite thick (too many u/s over the years to get Tara), maybe it is our bodies thinking they sort of know what to do now as before all this IVF stuff I would be lucky to get AF every 8-10 months.
janie - that sounds horrible! we are keeping a close eye on DD at the moment as she has a rash as well, is very unsettled, and some of the rash is a little blistery (so we're worried about CP too!). her temp is the one thing i've been keeping a very close eye on as i have family history of febrile seizures (and epilepsy - GREAT). hope you're all doing ok now
Grub - AF for me wasn't at all heavy. i have heard a lot of women have heavy AF either first or second after giving birth - particularly those that have a VB as opposed to CS. i had CS and a small post partum bleed so maybe that helped. my first AF arrived unexpectedly. had some AF style aches but nothing major. then bam, she was there! next one was the same - unexpectedly arrived. i then had a bleed after only 17 days but no idea what that was about. it was minimal bleeding. i have discarded that as bruising or something from DTD. first "cycle" was 7.5weeks, i've now gone 7 weeks and noticed last night that i have some aches and my cervix is low-ish so think she may be on her way again....
one thing i DID notice - i bled for ages! i know that is probably a pcos thing - i used to bleed for up to six weeks - but 10 days is annoying me! we're playing russian roullette - won't go down the iui/ivf path again due to finances - so we're letting nature run it's course
BG: I had a c/s birth and minimal bleeding although it did take 5 weeks to go completely but have had these 2 heavy bleeds since. The only other time I can remember having such a heavy bleed was when we were taking clomid prior to IVF and 1 cycle we had 5 mature follicles and was told "NO GO" when AF arrived it was horrendous. When I asked my FS about this later he said normally AF is heavy if you have lots of eggies being released. Maybe in my case because my ovaries (last scan showed in excess of 20 follicles each side) have gone into overdrive I might be producing more hormones, hence the heavier AF for me.
well there ya go! i was just going on what i'd observed with friends not on any science when i said the vb/cs thing. it could be completely irrelevant
my post partum bleeding stopped within a week, then i had a mammoth bleed after 3 weeks - i had a clot the size of DH's fist after about three days of bleeding. i still considered it post of the PP bleeding though. wasn't comfy! i then went on to get AF at 6.5 months, still exclusively BF dd until a couple of weeks before that and feeding through the day and night still.
i think it's different for everyone though
argh! can't get my thoughts out. E has a rash and teethign and yukky tummy and not sleeping (five hours trying to get her to sleep overnight, feeding at least half that time) - and so damn tired! definitely NOT what i'm used to!
With DS1 Af didnt return until about 8 weeks after "i stopped BF and that was only feeding twice a day. This time who knows, I am not sure if AF has arrived at less than 7 weeks or if it is the oestrogen cream that I am using. Rang Ob on fri and still waiting for midwife to get back to me. I have to say that if it is Af I will be well peaved.

Rang my OB and am going to get corderised Thursday I'm sick and tired of not healing so fingers crossed this works, Nothing major but not comfortable and it's been 8 weks now.
Tried phoning my boss to speak about putting my return to work forward 6 weeks, no answer I hope it's ok, I wanted to see her in person but she's too busy.
Anyways DH and DSS are having a loud discussion about why or why not it's ok to do funny things to the PC's at school. I hope Lincoln doesn't wake up. BLOODY TEENAGERS!
green - before i started AC (2005) i had af in feb, miscarried april, miscarried at something around 9-12 weeks (maybe more - not sure cos no cycle - was quite pg though - labored for 12 hours before delivering fetus) in dec. nothing in between. have had no af that hasn't been induced by drugs/stim cycle since then. now she seems to have decided i'm worthy of a visit. typical. i'm not ready for another baby (if it were to miraculously happen!) - but i'm also not prepared to take the pill due to nasty side effects (stroke like episodes)
I'm not one to talk to about when AF returns - at my 6 week check I was given a prescription for the pill and sent on my way... it was decided that as I wasn't breastfeeding and my cycles were horrendously unpredictable and that I was about to start on seriously nasty arthritis drugs that it would all be for the best. My first few were really quite heavy, though - and I'm convinced that's more down to the pregnancy than anything else. In time they have lessened.
I have also been told that post partum bleeding tends to be less after a cs than a vb - something to do with the fact that the doctor can clean you out a bit while they are in there with a cs. Then again, the woman that told me this had only had c-sections, so perhaps it would be best to find someone to ask who has had both types of deliveries.
All good here - teething symptoms have abated, but no teeth to show for it so I expect them to resume at any minute. Currently having a few issues about my birth again - a friend had a baby at a similar prematurity and when the first photos appeard on facebook and there's bub in the humidicrib... and then there's bub all wrapped up in an open crib with NG tube... There's been quite a few panicky moments and flashbacks and general unpleasantness, but I'm working through it.
Janie - I can only imagine how scary that would have been and I hope it never happens again - for you and for any of us!
Green - have to second the bloody teenagers comment! I only teach them, but I'm a little over them lately. My biggest problem student has just been expelled (hooray!) but I had a parent call to demand to know why her child was placed on detention because he didn't seem to get it... Perhaps I have super-high standards - but I do NOT tolerate kids getting up and walking around my class room while I'm speaking to the whole class! I could go on forever, but I won't.

We just travelled 4,500km from one end of the country to the other with 2 dogs and a (then) 4 month old all camping in the 4WD and roof-top tent. Yay...it was a laugh a minute. hahahha. Seriously though, lots of fun and I will post some photos later.
Very quickly before I get to come back later, Janie, my blood went cold as I read your post. I would like to think i could remain calm but it just makes me sick. I still get those heart-stopping moments when my Jasmine is in that paralysed sleep mode and you go through those split second panics but what you described is so scary. Well done for getting through it without screaming and hysterics. I hope you never have to see that again and that this was a one off. I guess the good thing is that if you can't actively prevent it, then you can't wrap her in cotton wool trying to avoid it and eventually the fear will ease.
Smithy, as always, love your work. Who can keep a secret like that? Be proud, you've all been through so much and all you can all do is love and support each other. What an amazing time, Congrats Granny Smith!!!!
Neptune, huge hugs for you and Beagle. You are doing a fantastic thing and you will continue to help your faithful mate to recover. (can't remember if he or she) but he won't care too much about the exercise, they are pretty adaptable and don't seem to get down about these things, as long as he's got your love. I know people who just put their dog down for the exact same thing, rather than do what you are doing so I am so happy to hear you are giving Beagle a fighting chance.
