    welcome MM!

Grub - i think your story has enforced my decision to never go camping again! lol

Murph - yay on the grant towards the implants and things! with the graze from BF - does your DD have top teeth now? i know with E we were ok til top teeth arrived - now, i have to make sure we're either laying down to feed, or that she is in a position so that the weight of my breast isn't too much - i think it comes down to the weight dragging my breast a little sideways in her mouth and she grazes that way. we're still going strong on the BF front though - we have worked around it ok

BW - i know we talked about the church thing and i really have no more advice - just hugs

Neptune - hope the headache is gone and you're back on top of things now!

AFU - i head back to work next Tuesday - not sure how i'm feeling about it all - but it has to happen so i guess i'll just suck it up!

Ah, the joys of breastfeeding and teething...it's not funny at all, is it!! I nearly threw DS1 on the floor the first time he bit me - i got such a huge fright, and so did he!

Well done on the grant Murph - it's nice to know that sometimes 'the system' gets it right!

Welcome MM. Tell us all your woes...and share the good times too. We love hearing about everyone's little darlings.

Good thing i didn't read about the pizza, Neptune. I'm easily persuaded...all those commercials they have on tv at dinner time are aimed at me!!! I don't even like KFC, but if I see an ad for it, I suddenly want it.

Anyone else live in Melbourne - where did that long lovely summer go? 2 weeks ago we were in sunblock and t-shirts, now it's socks and singlets. Still, it was wonderful while it lasted {wistfully staring out the window as rain pours down the glass}. Boo hoo!

BW yep I'm using Infacol, and it does seam to get the burps up but yeah it's not natural. Oh well when he's moving more hopefully he'll do it all on his own. It's hard to fit life around kids, Linc is much better if we stay home. Last night he slept 8-3am again but we didn't go anywere, tomorrow I'm going into town and I know it'll throw him but I can't bare to think of life stopping just cos it's easier. delema.

Oh Marcellus that is hust awful re non GF stuff I'm sure you didn't imagine it, just picked up one next to the one you thought. and I'm glad DS is enjoying the shiny papers, Linc has decided he loves my star shaped post it notes funny little things aren't they.

Neptune enjoy your pizza, I'm thinking if my mum sits for me I'll do the same.

    Murph well done with centrelink

ATM just went and baught "0's" for link that's right 0! he's so long and 00 will only fit for a while me thinks, I never would have thought my 11 week old (omg 11 weeks flew) would be in 0's!

Off to see my big boss tomorrow in Adelaide, little hopeful link doesn't get to unsettled but really looking forward to showing him off.

Did I mention I'm working Saturday night? DH will be on his own and I'm doing a sleep over shift at one of our other shelters (just as a worker, not a manager) Looking forward to it, and Tafe starts next week, so I guess maternity leave is ending but I'm happy with the slowly slowly into work.

    I missed ppl opps.

Hi MummaMia things are good here and welcome.

not warm here either but good snggle weather

    Hi Girls

Lenny: I live 30km's west of Ballarat so it's even colder here...

Murph: Yay on the Centrelink bucks, just think finally some of your tax money is coming back to help you guys out. Doesn't happen very often...

    Hi to everyone else...

I'm so exhausted, Tara had her first swimming lesson today can you believe she is 6 months old today... where does time go. She loved it but she was ready for a sleep 10 minutes into the class which goes for 30 minutes. Everytime we did time for her to lay on her back in the pool, I could feel her relax and the thumb went straight in her mouth for sleep time. Only problem was... and lucky for me DH came today to watch, how am I supposed to get out of a pool (not a toddler pool) with a baby that can't sit up yet?? All the other babies in her class (3) are older and can sit, crawl and walk but Tara can't do any so if DH wasn't there to take her from me at the pool edge I would have been in all sorts of trouble. So after swimming Tara slept for about 1 1/2 hours and is back in bed now for another sleep. I think I might have to have a nap myself as well, trust me you don't need to do water aerobics when you do swimming lessons... running around in circles, lifting and swinging baby, it is a good workout for mummies as well.

well i'm ssooo glad my misery tickled your fancy girls lol. Ah well, Green you said you don't want life to stop to keep baby happy - don't let it. Just look at our camp trip, yes it turned out hideously but we tried and got out there. we had fun for about 3 hours lol and don't regret going

Mind you i'm not going to a picnic today cos ash was so unsettled last night and yesterday arvo. Figure its either a) he didn't like the smell of the floor cleaner i was using to scrub the dirt out of the flithy lino b) DH overdoing the garlic in dinner last night or c) he's still recovering from the torture of his parents trying to make him sleep in a tent and not HIS bed.

But green i think we've got to get out there, with common sense in mind. they need to adjust to the world eventually and you can't hide away! And good luck with the work - good idea to ease into it. Have you ever left linc for more than an hour or two? I'll be interested to hear how you go... and how he copes too

hi mumma mia - come on it and share your story!

oooh marcellus .. poor DH, what an evil wifey you are! Don't worry i 'picked' a bit of 'something' off DH's face on sunday and it turned out to be attached to him... and bled.... A LOT. Whoopsy, you should have heard the man whinge after that, then he dropped a knife on his foot ROFL. but it's so easy to look at something and pick up something compleetely different.

BW - just wanted to send you hugs for your dilemna. What about during the week? can your priest administer to you privately at a time that suits you and Sam? i'm sure bub will change his ways soon enough and adjust to this outing. big hugs tho. Oh, thanks for saying sam coped okay going to your parents. we are off to PIL next week and i'm dreading it. But part of the problem camping was i could not settle ash in the tent because of serious headroom issues and if i took him outside he was absolutely captivated by the fire... and there was a freaking possum which tried to climb my leg and was stalking me.. all i could think was "a possum ate my baby'' hahhaahha.

neptune - hope you are feeling better now hun. sounds like you needed to let your hair down a bit tho bet you are a bit cold this morn!

murph - oh come on lady... a tea set each! that is sssssoooo way more dorkier than playing boardgames. sshheeesssh. and i truly admire your cross country camp trip.

bg- big hugs for going back to work. what are you doing with E, cc? I imagine it will be hard for the first month or two until you all adjust to the new arrangements and then it'll just feel like normal, but with money lol. are you nervous?

lenny - my best friend reckons she nearly hit her ds on the head out of fright the first time he bit her, completely instintual reaction. Did you just take bub off and say no?

Is that what you girls with teethers have found effective? (i know you do the nose flick Murph, is that working?). Do they understand? REason i'm asking is ash chomped down on me yesterday. Not very hard but it hurt... and he doesn't have teeth, yet. but they ar a coming.

kellyd - good on you for taking tara swimming! i've taken ash a couple of times and he lasts about 15 mins, shower, and then pass out on the 5 min walk home lol. it's so good for exhausting them.. so much noise, water, activity! i used to teach learn to swim as did my sister so Ash will be dragged to the pool regularly. But i'm going to wait for the warmer months to return.

smithy - yum lazy dinner night! my DH is so healthy and budget conscious we never get takeaway (neptune taht peezzzaaaa sounded great). I love friday night takeway with a movie! Can't wait for Ash to be older and we can do that together

Well as per my earlier comment, bub was extremely unhappy from 2.30am last night. he didn't feed well and screamed til 4am, had a short sleep and screamed again before DH went into the lounge on a mattress and bub came into our bed with me. I had to stand and rock him to sleep before gingerly climbing into bed myself and he also had a feed in bed... but straight after started screaming again.

of coures he went into his own bed and passed out at 7am and has just woken! little toad. he wouldn't go down for his arvo sleep by himself yesterday either. had to be ON me! As a result, half the floor mopped/scrubbed; half the washign done; half of dinner done and half the house cleaned!

so a quiet day at home to catch up.

wow, what a long post, i''m shocked at myself ... NOT!

yay for new avitar Hi linc you're now in the garden with mummy

Kelly just wanted to say 'awwww" re your swimming lesson, don't the instructors help you out? I know they do near me (cousins)

Grub Friday I'm doing some "prep" for saturday night and my mum is watching him will be a couple of hours. I think he'll be fine me probably panic. oh no for bad night sleep that's awful, linc does that during the afternoon sometimes but it's always worse at night, hope you have a nice settled day

Linc slept 8-3am again but yesterday arvo wind screaming asleep on me then as soon as I put him down AHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I'm wondering if it's the prune juice who knows, I'm going to give it a miss and see how we go, he's still so constipated without it though. who knows, maybe when he's on real food he'll be better, I rang the parent helpline and they said blah blah blah , tummy rub, deap bath, sugar water OMG like I don't know all of this already and it doesn't help the problem.

He's still only sleeping an hour, up 90mins (happy about 1/2 of that then fussy) then repeat. I'd love him to have a good morning sleep at least because he seams to want food when he wakes up and 2.5hours does seam a little close together for a bottle. I've tried holding him off with dummy and play but that works for a short while then its AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Ladies with older bubs any thoughts? is this a faze?

    !!

Grub: Thankyou for the entertainment value RE camping! Feral stalker possum & all! I have to ask though, how far away did you go camping? I ask because around my area the locals go camping every year at Christmas, pack everything up and go to Swansea Caravan Park... 5 minutes away!!! I am totally serious girls! They do this camping in the next suburb, and they go home each day to shower & change! Cracks me up! Is this just a Novocastrian thing or does it happen elsewhere too? I don't think I could do it, the call of my own bed would be too tempting. I'm not really that outdoorsy anyway, never camped in my life but did manage one caravan holiday a few years ago and believe me that was enough!

BW: THat is one of my biggest fears, that DS will kick up a stink in church! Would your priest/pastor allow him to play with some toys on the floor at your feet? I went to a christening last year and the minister called all the kids up the front at thye beginning of the service and placed a great big basket of toys ont he floor in front of him and told th parents not to worry if they got a little rowdy. I thougth it was pretty good.

Neptune & Smithy: You evil women!!! Talking of delicious juicy junk food when I can't even drive to be able to go get me my fix :'(

Murph: Yay for the Moolah!!! Ka-ching!

Green: Thank you! You just made me feel better that my 3 week old is already out of 0000 and even the 000 are getting a bit snug around his beer gut & thunder thighs !

    A big to Mumma Mia!

AFU all travelling well here. Little man is snoozing so Mummy is madly checking emails & Facebooking.

    Quick question...

Not sure if it is just a growth spurt or what, but last couple of days DS has been waking up screaming for a feed every 2 hours and not really sleeping afterwards. Any advice? Is this a growth spurt or perhaps the S26 formula is not enough for him?

Also we saw the paed surgeon yesterday. Good news is no action to be taken on the tongue tie, he seems to think it will stretch as he grows, and as for the half-descended right testicle he wants to wait 6 months and review. So no nasty procedures after all pheeew (although not impressed, in there less than 5 mins and now empty of $110!)

Also, not sure if anyone else has had this, but DS has suddenly decided he no longer wants to sleep in his bassinette in our room, and as such the last few days has slept in the bassinette attachment in his pram instead. He definitely seems to settle a little better but sleeping in his pram isn't bad for him is it? Going to try him one sleep a day in his cot too to get him ready for the change as he's almost outgrown the pram bassinette. Oh no! My baby in a cot! Not fair he is growing up way too fast!!!

Sorry about the mammoth post... geez who do I think I am??? Grub or something

oh my miss grub, where do you find the time? Your poor husband...

Murph. Glad to see your hard work is paying off

How can she be 6 months already Kelly...? You're lying!

    for those getting sleep

BOC, you're heading into the 2nd month. Babies are usually more unsettled between 4-8 weeks, or thereabouts. They also have growth spurts at fairly regular intervals.

Biting - I found that taking DS off imediately, putting him down and walking away did the trick. He figured out pretty quickly that if he bit he didn't get milk.

Nothing happening here. Back at work, only waiting on IT fellas to restore my access to the system...dum de dum...

BOC, it seems that those novacastrians that don't go to Swansea go to Stockton instead. I haven't heard of the phenomenon anywhere else but up there. Woodberry born and bred, moved into town when I got married and then moved down here to Windsor about ten years ago. Still go back regularly to visit the family. I've even heard of one group of people taking a portable air conditioner along on one of those "camping" trips. I don't get it!

As for the church thing - Sam simply won't sit and play with toys any more. He wants to run around and climb up the stairs to the stage and yell and shout at people... He used to be really good, but is so disruptive now it's not funny! I'm working on things with DH, and if DH doesn't play ball, I'm going over his head and talking to the pastors - if anyone will get DH to step away from the sound desk and give me a break from Sam so I can be in church and participate, it will be the pastors! I hope, anyway!

Grub - the story just gets better and better when you add in the possum! Thank you for being so entertaining to us all! But seriously, Sam's ok at other people's houses - as long as we can take him to a quiet room to settle him. He's ok in the portacot at my parents' place, was ok on the women's retreat I took him to when he was 6 months old (apart from being so overtired that he had to be settled by someone else the first night - but we'd had a shocker of a drive getting there!). He's even slept on my SIL's bed and that was ok - just so long as you can maintain as many of his regular routines as possible. The lack of headspace in the tent would be a serious issue for anyone, I think!

Green - we went through all sorts of fussy periods where Sam would only catnap, or need to be held to sleep (and stay asleep - that period was fun - NOT!). I don't recall any of them at Linc's age though. But then, Sam was prem and it has thrown a few other things out of the regular schedule so we're not a great example. He's always tended to be a sleepy baby, too - sorry I can't be much help!

Kelly - the swimming lessons sound like fun! We still haven't got Sam started, which is a shame. I was too ill last year, and DH just hasn't got off his butt to organise them yet this year. I'm pretty sure there's a place with a heated pool so it won't be too much of an issue for us getting started in the cooler months.

We seem to be having a few issues lately. DH took the opportunity to work yesterday while I'm on school holidays. Sam slept for three and a half hours in the morning! Had a small catnap in the car on the way home in the afternoon and then spiked a scary fever while I was still home alone and DH was two hours late from work! Scary times. He seems mostly ok this morning, wanted his morning nap fairly early again, woke up but didn't want to be awake so is currently sleeping on my lap... and slowly sending one arm to sleep so I will have to stop typing before I lose feeling completely! I'm just hoping and praying this is related to teething (he's working on four molars on and off lately) and not him getting sick. His immune-suppressed mummy can't afford to get sick at the end of school holidays!

bg- big hugs for going back to work. what are you doing with E, cc? I imagine it will be hard for the first month or two until you all adjust to the new arrangements and then it'll just feel like normal, but with money lol. are you nervous?
don't think it feels real yet to be honest - i'll be fine i'm sure! E will either be with her Daddy or grandparents. so from that perspective, she'll be fine - it's more the BF and snuggles to sleep. she has started taking EBM ok for DH and going to sleep for him - so with him i think she'll be fine. she doesn't sleep at mum's very well though... i also work 40k's from home and have to be there by half seven - dropping E at my parents on the way if she is going there - so will be a looooong day for her if she refuses sleep!

on your Q re biting and BF - i make a loud noise and let E know it hurt - tell her she can only have booby if she is nice to mummy and doesn't bite. she is given one more chance and then if she bites a second time (only happened once) she gets put on the floor and has to wait it out

sorry for no more persies - DH has just dished up dinner - beer battered flake, crumbed prawns and chunky chips - yum!

I think my boy is super-sensitive. We were giving him some nurofen before bed (still spiking random fevers, but last time we took his temperature it was really quite low - 35.5) and a little dribbled down his chin. I scooped it up with my finger and let him suck it off - only to have him turn around and go *chomp*. When I said ow, HE started crying. He gets really upset when he realises he has hurt one of us. I could only imagine the issues we would have had if we'd been able to breastfeed!

Yup, still got a sick little boy here - but no signs of anything actually being wrong apart from these fevers he keeps spiking. I've checked his gums - and it seems that everything there has gone quiet - on corner of one molar on the top has erupted, it feels like the other top molar has gone back and the mushy spots he had on the bottom are no longer mushy. No runny nose, no cough, no red ears, he's not acting like there's any part of his body that hurts... We had one random, huge spew with lunch, but that's been an isolated incident and more likely related to the fact that he guzzled down too much water too quickly. It's a complete mystery and I don't know whether to get him to the GP or not.

BG, dinner sounds lovely! We had roast chicken... yum!
