Just wanted to drop in and let you all know that after a very unsettled weekend (when I thought Tara was getting a cold) we now have 1 tooth that has broken through. Found out by chance this morning when my little finger copped a good old munch.
Hope you are all doing well and that your little ones are also growing heaps.
Marcellus: Huuuge CONGRATS!!!!! Wishing you a H & H preg! Will you be finding out what you're having?
Must be something in the water over on the LTTTC threads, they have had a stack of this month!
Call me crazy but I so can't wait to go down that path again! Despite the dramas at the end I really loved being pg. Hopefully we will be financially blessed in the next 12 months so we don't have to wait so long, I'm up for an EPU cycle straight away as we had no frosties left.
Well I hope everyone's good and loving the cooler weather! We are all good. Last two nights we have had a 7hr and a 5hr sleep! I am soooo hoping DS keeps it up and isn't just teasing me. Mind you, I didn't sleep well, I was laying awake thinking he was going to wake up any moment! Would be nice if I could get used to it though!
Still not having much luck moving DS into his cot. He just won't sleep for more than 10/20mins in it. We're going to move it into our room for the winter, my thoughts were it's easier to keep 1 room warm than 2. So hopefully still being near us might do the trick???
Can't believe my little precious is 2 months old tomorrow! Where has the time gone? As of last week the little chubba chops has put on 2.2kg!
Ahhhh must run, his royal highness is hollering. Hope everyone has a good rest of the week!
BOC - I too am having trouble gertting Xavier into his cot. I want him out of our room so I dont have to listen to him grunting throughout the night. He is almost sleeping through but he makes so much noise in the couple of hours before 6 that I am awake waiting for him to wake up.
Just a quick question and I should know this but I just cant remember but when did you stop doing a dream feed and just feed them before you put them to bed. I cant remember when I did this with Campbell.
OMG Marcellus! that is so exciting!!! congratualtions love. i'm so happy for you. and lol on the edit - i knew who you meant!. he can come play wiht our loo, it's always playing up - he might fix it! hahah
Saph - great question. i was wondering the same thing. I tried to ditch it the other night with disasterous affects!
boc - lol - i know it's like they lure you into a sense of security and then BHAM turn around and get you! lol. I know exactly what you mean about bub sleeping and you not! they train us sooo well hahah. Also feeling like i can't wait for ttc again! insane! we are all nuts for being clucky after all we've been through! hahaha.
yaya for the tooth Kelly! and I can't believe she's that old! it is going too fast. that's part of the reason why we aren't jumping in straightaway for number 2 - to enjoy number 1 because it's going soo quick! our boy is 5 months old!!!
green - fantastic news on the neighbour! and don't look at it as not being there with linc, you are being a wonderful mother by going out into the workforce to support your family financially as well as emotionally and doing all the other things that always seem to fall to women! i'm in awe of you love. it takes immense strength but you aren't damaging your baby or your bond by working! I saw on the news the other day that there are more working mums than ever!
hahah Kahlan - i just had this image of baby poo with passion fruit pips. can't help you though but i really wouldn't think it'd be bad for bub, so long as there isn't too much of it.
hi janie! how's bubba?
and Smithy - hope you get on top of the money situation soon love. hate being broke!
as for us - been away again. went to the nation's capital to give bubba soem long car-trip experience. he was a dream and slept the whole way! But unfortunately came home with 2 sick boys. They have the snuffles but the vapourizer is working wonders for Ashton! He's also getting a tooth! it's broken through and explains the very red and sore looking cheeks.
but our little routine is working a treat (sshhh can't say it too loud or he'll hear and play up!). it even worked while we were away! and he slept happily in the portacot.
on the more baby chat - i'm ssssooo clucky it's bad. I want heaps of kids and know that we'd be lucky to get another. but i've realised over the past few days that i NEED another baby! i'd always said we'd be happy with one, but i don't feel that anymore!
on a sad front, my sister had to do ivf but also genetic testing for a disorder my bil is a carrier for. anyway they had to travel to brissy and have the testing at a cost of thousands on top of ivf/icsi... did the whole shebang got 4 blasties only to have to destroy them all because all had the disorder (which means they would not have survived past about 15 weeks into the pregnancy). I'm so sad for them, they were shattered. I'm sad for my paretns that Ash maybe their only grandchild and sad for ash that he may be the 'only' child in every possible way, not even cousins!
anyhoo best go and wash my hair while bub is sleeping. hugs to all my loverlies. ox
Life is hard here at the moment. Significant work issues along with physical and mental health problems for me. Gastro boy is in the house, too. Both DH and Sam are effected - damned good thing I'm off work for the rest of the week!
But, I wanted to pop in and congratulate Marcellus - you sneaky girl, keeping that so quiet! But so very excited for you!
And secondly - we stopped giving Sam a dream feed when he started having a solid meal at dinner time. Have no idea on whether that's what you're "supposed" to do, it was just what seemed to be a good idea for us, and it worked. I'm a big believer in following your instincts in parenting.
Boc sorry you're having no joy with DS in the cot but a warm room can help and it goes so fast Linc will be 4 months next week.
Grub you made me smile so much thank you. That's so sad for you Sister, life can be awful sometimes. I hope she gives her nephew loads of cuddles.
Oh BW hope things get better soon. Sick house is awful. Hope you stay well
ATM little update, my AL got approved with a humble phone call so I'll only have to work MWF for four weeks so I can ease Linc into Childcare which is just great. DH and Linc have a cold MAN COLD ALERT! I had it too but didn't really get me down NO Time!
Life is back to busy busy with work and Linc, who is getting so active, fighting sleep a little but I guess that's due to enjoying awake more at the moment. If I miss his sleep window it's hard work.
Has anyone tried elevating babies legs when sleeping? Linc still has wind that wakes him, I just caught him pulling his legs up, so I supported them and he farted and settled, so I put a wedge under his legs and he's still sleeping? he's still swaddled so legs are together. Not sure if it's ok to do or not?
Green we have raised the head end for both the boys, dont know about bottom end. You would have to be careful he doesnt slide to the top of the bed. Glad you got your AL and can ease linc into daycare. It must be really hard for you having to leave him. I couldnt imagine having to go back to work yet, one having to leave him but two I would be to tired from getting up to him at night. But then I am extremely luck and get paid mat leave until oct and then will start work again next school year so only 4 months without pay.
Xavier is starting to sleep through til 6am but is not going back to bed after this so I am bit tired because i am losing an hours sleep. He is still a shocking sleeper during the day, but I have come to accept that he is just a cat napper. He is otherwise happy so what can I do about it, nothing, so I have given up trying to force him into a daytime sleep routine. We have finally manage to toilet train Campbell for the third time. He ended up on mass doses of antibiotics to kill the bacteria in his bowels so instead of going 6 times a day with no feeling he is now going once or twice. Thank goodness that one is done. He is also much happier and we only have the occasional accident like the flood I just attended to.
As for the cot he still wont have a bar of it. Put him in the cot and he grizzles, grumps and cries pick him up and put him in the bassenet and he is asleep before I walk out he room. Just going to leave it fopr a few more weeks as we are going away again so will try again after that. We are going to brave camping. Campbell was 12 months old the first time he went camping so we will just wait and see how we go.
Gotta go trying to convince Campbell he needs to have a rest on his bed. Good luck to me.lol
oh green poor little linc being sick, there nothing worse.
i would keep letting him play if thats keeping him happy might bounce some boogers out of him lol.
as for the feeding bit ,i just feed charlie a bottle when eva she wants one mostly 3-4 hourly but through the night she only gets one bottle and thats usually about 4-5 am, apart from this she sleeps all night now and if by chance she does wake up NOPE NO BOTTLE i give her the dummy put sooky back up near her face flip her over and thats it,shes been doing this routine for a few weeks now,i have a smalll lamp in her room i turn that on and make no eye contact with her at all otherwise she laughs her head off lol.
i tried very hard with this routine and at first it was a bit hard but now its bed at 7.30pm and awake at 7.30am with 2 very good sleeps through the da sometimes 3.
i sure hope he works him self out soon hun makes life so much easier
Green i agree with smithy if he wants to play let him. you will know when they are to sick too play because they wont, they wont do anything but sleep. As for the routine feeds it is up to you. I personally like routine feed times as it is easy to plan your day around but you need to be flexible. Xavier feeds are as follows, 4.30 - 6.30am somewhere in here when he wakes. If it is closer to 6, 6.30 he usually does not go done again. 7.00-8.30 depending on what time he had the last feed, 11.00 -12.00, 2.00-3.00, 5.30 and then a dream feed at 9.30. Xavier is not a good sleeper during the day but sleeps through at night ( I am considering stopping the dream feed). My sister in law confort feeds so anytime Seth becomes upset she feeds him. I refuse to do this and use other settling techniques. At night I never give Xavier any stimulation, that is I dont talk to him, minimal eyecontact and minimal light only enough to see what I am doing. I have done this with both the boys , Campbell slept through from 6 weeks and Xavier from about 12. oh and not that I am saying you should do this but both my boys have slept on their tummies, Xavier more than Campbell. Gotta go have words with X you would think he could be a little more considerate and sleep for the two hours that C is at kindy but no it is time to party.
You will know when to cut the dream feed. Like BW we stopped it when Lyla was having milk, then dinner and it seemed ridiculous to be giving her milk again. We now do dinner and the milk and then sleep.
Grub I feel for your sister. I do hope they are successful. It is hard with ivf already let along doing genetic tests on top of that... Ah about passionfruit, well I asked a senior dietician about it and she said that it is o.k. She said passionfruit is good if bub is willing to eat it as it is high in vit c.. a variety of fruits and vegetables is always good.
Hi everyone else.
o.k. bed time now or else I won't be able to wake to go to work tomorrow. I work very early, 7 am just so I could spend time with Lyla in the afternoon... so I envy you girls who are complaining of having to lose early morning sleep
Have been reading whats going on but have been busy here and next week is even worse...
So much has happened with Tara development wise it is scary. So we can now sit up, has 1 tooth (although it is still to show itself) and she can now roll back to tummy to back.... YAY... So her sleeping on her tummy is now a non issue as she can roll herself back, but this now means that she has started to squirm across the floor. Luckily we went and bought a fire guard last weekend it was just in time.
Now she is more than happy to play on the floor by herself on her tummy and she will roll and wriggle to move to get toys she wants to play with. She has even started to pull her legs under her bum and get some leverage to push forward.... so maybe we won't be too far from crawling.
Oh, I'm also booked in to the FS next Friday to start the ball rolling for our FET... As we live in Vic, we now have to do all the police checks etc (even though we have already undergone IVF) and also so I can get my meds underway for hopefully and FET in July. It is all happening again so fast, but I am really excited at possibly being pg again... maybe I will be able to enjoy the next pg more without so much stress. Or maybe not..
Thanks saph Lincs bed is up at the top end so it's more like bringing his feet up so he doesn't slide down. Glad DS is sleeping through Linc was but since having a cold has stopped and wakes ummm way too often 10 11 12 4 5 then 7! If he still fits in bassinet I'd go with the flow I only moved Linc cos he was too big! I'm ready for work just not for child care glad camble is better too, not good when they're sick. Linc is a shocking day sleepwer too and since he's slept better during the day he's worse at night, he still sleeps 1 morning 1 lunch 1 arvo and then an evening sleep (which I can't get him not to have, We've tried) but he wants to sleep from 5-6 then wont sleep again unless I feed him.
Kahlan I'll be doing the same so I'll be up at 5 or 6 starting in 10 days! But I'd rather be home in the arvo.
OK WHY DOES LINC STILL HAVE WIND! I'm over this I tell you, Just when I think he's ok it's back and waking him up, not that it's hurting him just waking him! OMG i can't do 4 wake ups and two feeds at night! although I do feel ok so who knows but when I'm back at work I can't sleep till 7.30am! Maybe if I get dressed for work at 4am feed and crawl back to bed!
green hunny sorry your having a ruff trot hun,but im the same as grub,i took the stand and im the one who feeds charlie, puts her to bed and so on other wise i think they get a bit to confused.
and yep boohoo to your dh cause linc was wet,im sure he knows what a wonderful mother you are hun ,sometimes we just get so dam tired we take things out on each other.theses babies are full on sometimes.
kelly, good luk with your fs appt hun.
a big hello to you all girls
Thanks ladies you are so kind and really gave me a boost I needed.
smithy I forgot to mention how cute Charlie is in that pic,
When did you all start feeding at set times? Linc is so over the shot I have been feeding 3 hourly daily around 6 9 12etc and 4 hourly if he is super unsettled (3 redummy's pats etc). He seams to go down at 6 and up at 6 but waking twice a night again but a cold is a horrid thing for us and we can blow our noses.
Just a quicky for mums who've done colds before, is it ok to keep letting him play like normal? He loves his jolly jumper, house is warm but I'm not sure if I should let him? the upright stuff is good for his nose. He's also wanting his arms out now but keeps smaking himself awake 4 months is awkward isn't it, they're not quite coordinated enough but strong willed enough to think they are
