Just wanted to send lots of good luck your way Shannon. I hope this cycle restores your faith in AC. I can't believe that Owen and Julia are ONE. That's amazing.
Congrats on the toilet training marcellus. That made me laugh! At least they did notice the poo.
Hi to all the oldies and the newies too. :hello:
-
:D Marcellus. That's some interesting toileting there! How funny :) Celeste once, around 14months old I reckon, removed her jeans and nappy while in bed. JEANS!!! How hard are they to get off? not quite as impressive as A LOL. I know what you mean about the talking: Celeste now says "I don't want to" or "No, I'm not going to".
Celeste did a re-enactment for Nige of when she had a massive stack one day. She told him "run, fall, sore, sad" and rolled on the floor for him. SO funny! Makes conversation too like she'll start talking about things we did or saw that day when we have tea, without being prompted. "airpwane!, Flyyyyyyy, up there!" and waving of the arms to tell nige we saw an aeroplane that day. It does blow your mind to think how much they have learned in such a short time!
Wishing you the very best of luck Shannon and also for you Mako. How's things going?
Had a pang today when SIL mentioned to Celeste that she will make a fantastic older sister one day. :( I didn't say much about it because I didnt wnat to get into it in front of MIL and FIL, just said how much she loves and cares about babies. She gets her baby doll and makes sad crying sounds and a sad face, holds baby close, ssshhh ssshhh's, and pats it's back. it's very cute to watch.
Hooray Kelly, I'm so glad you are feeling heaps better and getting more routine now! I bet you feel like a new woman with some rest :) It's amazing how true the wonder weeks really are hey? It was an eye opener for me too.
Congrats on your wonderful kids walking and talking for their first birthdays Shannon!!! I bet you were the proudest mum in the world that day. I think you're amazing doing it all with TWO!
Hello everyone else "wave". I've had some tricky times lately with bed time tantrums. And I mean Tantrums! I have to remind myself sometimes just how lucky we are to have C and how perfect she really is. All of us here are just so fortunate! Lucky us!!!
-
I have to fess up.... I checked A's pants properly today and found poo down the inside of the legs.... he didn't pull them down after all, just undid his nappy and let rip!! Oh well  It did seem like an incredible feat!
Oh, I love those little stories! One of A's favourites is how I told the cat to get out of the bedroom my sister is staying in.
"No no no" "nuh" (which means cat) [signs auntie] "mum" [mimes shooing]. And we have to chant along - No cats in auntie I's bedroom. mum says "get out"!
-
I love these toddler stories (yes even the toilet training ones hehe) all the talking and miming its just incredible can't wait!! And so so cute :)
Well we managed to get 1 blast on board and none in the freezer unfortunately so now we wait wait wait... I don't know how long we will try for we really can't afford it with 2 kids and 1 income and the amount of guilt i feel when i think what we could do with that money for the two beautiful kids we already have not that they want for anything spoilt brats :P
I think i really will laugh if this works though... previously when trying for the twins we would come home after transfer and spend the day on the mattress on the lounge room floor watching gilmore girls and dreaming of our babies and i wouldn't lift anything over 2kg or do any housework for the 2WW. This time i lug 10kg toddlers around all day sometimes both at once and do everything under the sun... except BD'ing (poor DH) so if it works i am hiring out Julia & Owen to couples TTC!
Sorry for the self involved post.....
Keep the stories coming i love hearing what the other babies/toddlers are upto!

good luck Shannon
not a lot happening for us - E is now six months old (gulp - where did that time go??) and tried her first solids last night. success - she chewed with those little gums like there was no tomorrow! we're finally getting good day sleeps out of her as well - which is mking this parenting gig all themore enjoyable
still struggling with money issues with DH essentially unemployed - but we're getting there... sigh - looks like i'll be back at work come January...
-
Just had to jump in and do a quick Woo Hoo - my little baby is crawling. She has been on the move for a while, but proper continuous crawling is now happening! I can't belive how fast she is growing up.
Sorry about the me post, but got to go chase the little one now. Hope you are all well.
Janie xxx

Good Luck Shannon! :)
BG, solids is so much fun especially when you're doing BLS. It's amazing to watch how quickly they get the hang of things.
Janie, I can't believe your DD is crawling! This year has flown by and I can't believe how quickly things are happening. I'm enjoying DS not crawling still! lol
All good here. DS has started having a 2 hour nap in the morning (which is where he is now) and it's made a huge difference to my day. He's up 2-3 times per night, but we co-sleep so I don't have to move and he just helps himself to a feed. So, feeling relatively normal these days and getting plenty of rest. He's on 3 meals per day and loves his water from his sippy cup. Rolls everywhere on the floor, but no sign of crawling yet which is ok by me!
Had his first meeting with Santa last week and we got a lovely photo with a big cheeky smile.
Hope everyone is well :)
-
Ok Girls I have time for a quick little confession which one or 2 of you already know about.....I'm pregnant. Its only early days yet though and we aren't telling anyone IRL for a little while either. I got a BFP last Monday and had a B/T last Thursday. All seems to be going ok for now though and I have my 1st scan 2 weeks today.
I'm still in shock as is DH as we certainly weren't thinking it was going to happen so soon. Sage took nearly 3 years to come to us so as you can imagine we were thinking atleast 12 months lol.
Marcellus lol at little A and his toileting. I had a giggle too.
BBL to catch up with everyone.Oh and BG where has that 6 months gone??? Happy half birthday to E. And let the fun begin with the solids :)
-
you need to update your sig Mako!
and congrats again
ooh yeah - the santa pic on FB is divine! i am hoping to take E next week just for a pic for us...
-
Thanks BG. I be E will look gorgeous with Santa too.
I can't do my sig just yet. I have some IRL friends on here in the Necastle thread that I don't want to tell just yet lol. I'm looking forward to creating a ticker for the very 1st time though ;)
-
Wonderful news Mako. Congratulations!!!! I hope you're feeling ok?
-
fair enough Mako
i forget IRL friends factor into it for some peoples - i have no one local on BB lol

Good afternoon girls :D
Have been lurking here for the last few weeks but havent had a chance to post.
I had a beautiful baby boy on 4 November via an elective c-section at 37.5 weeks. Cant believe that was nearly 4 weeks ago now, how time flies!!!! Trent was conceived after 3 IVF/ICSI attempts. He is our pride and joy :D
I had been finding breastfeeding difficult from day one. I wasnt producing enough in hospital so he was being topped up with formula after every feed. My left nipple was cracked and bleeding by the time I left hospital so that put me off breastfeeding when I got home so I expressed every few hours and feed him that and formula. After a week of that I went and saw a lactation nurse and put Trent back on the boob and sure enough he feed PERFECTLY! He is a very lazy feeder and thats all I heard the MW say while I was in hospital. I have now persisted with breastfeeding him now as I really want to as all I hear is "breast is best". Although Im now finding that after feeding him on the breast for close to an hour, he is sometimes still hungry. He falls asleep at the boob so I think, he must be satisfied so I put him down only for him to wake a short time later crying for more so I then give him formula. Feeds can sometimes take anywhere from
1-2 hours if not longer. I told my DP last night that we need to do something as on the weekend Trent was up from 11pm - 3am which is ridiculous!
Last night I decided to give him formula at 11pm and then express for the next feed. This seemed to work as he had his 100mls which is what he is drinking and then he was asleep by just after 12am.
However, the problem I am having is that my express milk quantity varies. Last night I got 100mls, the 2 times I have expressed today I have only gotten 50mls each time so Ive had to give him 50mls formula as well. Im thinking of persisting with doing it this way as I know how much he is getting compared to him sucking at my breast and then him being still hungry.
Any suggestions would be GREAT! I am trying so hard to enjoy him but the stress of feeding and lack of sleep gets to me sometimes. He also has LOTS of wind and seems to constantly fart the poor little man. Have heard of drops you can give babies but the chemist said we cant give them to him until 4 weeks which is wednesday so will try them out. Am hoping it will help him as thats the other problem, after feeding he doesnt always go straight to sleep. It can take him up to an hour sometimes!
Sorry for such a long me post. Its hard to know where to turn to for advice. I LOVE belly belly and it has helped me through our TTC journey and I couldnt have done without it.
I look forward to getting to know you all :D
Thanks again girls,
Tania

welcome and congrats miss magpie! i would probably jump into the BF general chatter thread and they'll give you some advice - the ladie in there are so very supportive and helpful! i will say though that what you get when expressing is not indicative of what trent is getting when he feeds direct from you. a pump is not as efficient as a feeding bubba. from what i have experienced the only way to get your supply up is to have your bubba on there all the time if need be. when i was struggling with supply i was putting DD on the breast for at least 20 minutes every 2 hours around the clock. if she fell asleep i would tickle her feet to get her to stir and suckle again. it's hard work. and it can take a lot of time and patience (and lets be honest, tears and frustration) - but by feeding him from the bottle, he may continue to be a lazy feeder as the bottle is much easier than the breast.
good luck
BG
-
WooHoo! :happyforyou: Congrats on your ST TTC Mako ;)
Hi MissMagpie and congratulations on your little man! I second the recommendation to visit the breastfeeding problems & support area.
If he's a lazy feeder the best thing is probably practice. You could try taking him off the breast after 20 mins or so. Burp him and give him the other side. Switching him back and forth like that might get more milk into him quicker.
For what it's worth, A also fed for a very loooong time when he was that age. He gradually got faster. then around 3.5 months he suddenly got very fast (i mean it was like an overnight change) and would only take 2-3 minutes to feed. It's quite normal for babies to want the breast all the time when they're little if they feel tired or uncomfortable or whatever. It can be quite trying for mums, though, so hope you're getting plenty of help and support.
-
Hi Miss M, so good to see you over here. I'm happy that you have now got Trent b/fing, I had the same problem with not enough milk for Tara and she was having formula top ups with me expressing, however she was such a lazy feeder that after having a bottle there was no way she was going to go on the boob as it was just too much hard work for her, where having a bottle not much effort is needed to get fed. I think due to this and my anemia my supply started to dwindle and by 3 weeks my milk was all gone, so  congrats on being able to b/f and bottle at the same time.
Another question from me, seeing as I am not b/fing I was wondering how long it took for AF to come back?? I was very irregular before getting pregnant (hence the IVF) and was just wondering if/when I could expect it to return.
Hi Mako: I haven't met you but congrats on your BFP. I noticed that you only stopped b/fing 2 months ago, well done you and DH. Looks like you body has kicked into gear for you. Hope you have a h & h 8 more months.
-
hi everyone, just popping my head in here to wish you all well, and say it's great to read of your progress and about your babies...well done and take care
-
OMG there is so much happening in here! I can never seem to post much (slow internet) but I have to say WooHoo to Mako. That is just the bestest news!!! Take care
-
Oh wow huge congrats Mako what wonderful news :leap:
Well no luck for us this cycle completely dissapointed and ****ed but oh well, annoyed we have to go back to a stim again and i really dont know what will happen from here we really want another baby but are tired oh so tired of IVF ruling our lives and taking away so many decisions for us.
Welcome Miss Magpie and congrats on your beautiful baby boy Trent :)

-
Sorry Shannon . Must be very daunting to consider stim cycles again. Are you heading straight back in, do you think, or taking a break first? All the best~~
Kelly - af will often return within a few months if not bf. But everyone's different.
Hope everyone is well
-
Hi everyone
Haven't had the chance to drop in for a few days but while Tara is sleeping thought I would see how everyone else is going, but it is very quiet in here at the moment.
Shannon: I haven't met you before but sorry to hear that this time didn't work for you, I can only assume that the same stresses apply even when we have miracle bubs already. I hope that you have success with your next cycle.
AFM: Things have really picked up here lately, Tara is now sleeping most of the night now (7-8 hours) which helps with my sanity. Although as she is sleeping so much at night she seems to want 3 feeds before midday each day and then is fine with 2 feeds for the rest of the day. It makes it a bit difficult to get out of the house if we have to do anything before lunchtime, so I have been trying to organise anything that has to be done to get done in the afternoon.
We have now hit the 8 week old mark and I'm waiting for my Wonder Week to kick in, I think it might be happening soon as she has been very unsettled during the day yesterday and today and is having trouble having day time naps ie: waking every 10-15 minutes, but she seems to have crashed now more from exhaustion than anything. Off to the MCHN on Wednesday for her weigh in which will be interesting as she has now gone up from approx 550mls per day feeds to now around 780mls which is a huge increase in just over a week. Then off to the Doctor on Friday for her immunisations and also Whooping Cough & Swine Flu injections for me & DH.
I hope everyone is doing well and has got all Xmas shopping finished, I still have a couple of things to get but all the "Santa" presents are done.
-
Thanks girls for all the congrats :)
All is going ok here atm. I have a scan on Monday and am feeling rather nervous about it as I'll be going on my own as DH will be at work.
Shannon I'm sorry hun that you didn't get the results you were after this cycle  I really do feel for you and hope you and your DH come up with an arrangement that suits you all
Kelly Wow I can't believe Tara is doing so well with her sleep. That is a fantastic effort
Lenny when is your bub due? I have a feeling its not too far away :)
Gotta run, a certain little boy is awake.
-
Big Congrats Mako - and good luck with your scan. Will be sending lots of sticky vibes your waY.
Shannon - so sorry to hear that you have to do a stim cycle again. This TTC stuff really doesn't get any easier does it
Kelly - I think I need to send Jasmine around to get some sleeping lessons from Tara! Wow - 7 to 8 hours is great.
Possums - thanks for thinking of us. Hoping that 2010 is the year for you xx
Congratulations on the arrival of Trent Miss Magpie. Those early days of feeding can be difficult. As BG said perhaps jump into a BF thread and see if some of the ladies there can help. I found that with expressing I never got a regular amount. In the early days I was predominately BF Jasmine, but I did top up with formula and expressed milk. What helped me was to remember that as long as she was getting a number of good wet nappies each day and was also putting on weight - then everything was going well. Jasmine was a windy baby also, and to be honest I tried most things and they worked for maybe a short time, but then they didn't. It is often something that I just think they have to go through and grow out of - Sorry! I know that it felt like Jasmine would never stop having colic, but she did. They just have such immature digestive systems that all the new sensations can be a little overwhelming for them. However, if you are worried about it check it out with your MCHN. Good luck and ask heaps of questions!
Hi Marcellus, Lenny, BG, Sazzafrazz, egan and anyone else I have missed.
AFU - well we had a rotten night last might. We are currently in NZ visiting my mum which is great, but last night Jasmine was in bed with me and woke me up at 2:30am (NZ time - that is 12:30am AUS time) as she was crawling around the bed in her sleep and trying to pull herself up to standing also. I had to wake her up to get her to stop and then it took me an hour to resettle her - I placed her back into the cot and then at 5am NZ (3am AUS time) she started crawling around the cot - this time I woke to her standing holding onto the the rail and trying to climb out! Lucky I woke up as the side was down slightly, so she could have gone over the rail. Moral of this story is that the side now has to go up everytime she is in bed! As much as her sleep is still rotten, my little one is just amazing at the moment. She now has 3 teeth - the bottom middle 2 and a fang over to the left hand side up the top (out of order, but very cute). I think there are some more teeth on the move at the moment. She is crawling like a pro and pulling herself up on everything. Jasmine is almost able to clap and wave hello/good-bye. I really feel like my baby is no longer a baby, but this age is just so cool.
Hope everyone is well.
Janie and Jasmine xxx

Hi Janie!
No wonder she's not sleeping well - too busy trying to stand up!
All the best for the scan Mako
Wow - doing so well Kelly! That's great.
Hi everyone else
-
Good afternoon girls :D
Kelly - WOW, Tara sleeping 7-8 hrs a night, thats GREAT! I may have to send Trent around to learn off her, lol Glad all is going well.
Janie - LOVE your story about Jasmine! She sounds very active and how exciting that she has 3 teeth
Shannon - sorry to hear that this cycle wasnt successful. Hang in there
Hello to all the other girls :D
AFM, well Trent seems to be settling better these days. Have been using infacol regularly so that seems to have helped his wind pains. My breast milk doesnt seem to be satisying him as I now have to nearly top him up with formula after every feed. Im disappointed as I really wanted to breastfeed him as long as I could. I may now have to think of giving it away if I cant get more milk. I feel like I am wasting an hour of him feeding on my boobs only for him to then have anywhere from 50-100mls of formula. The formula packet says from 1-2 mths the volume for babies is 150mls so it doesnt sound like he is getting much from my boobs from that estimate. Its hard to know what to do. I want to persist with breastfeeding but if its not enough, then am I wasting my time. Dont know which way to go.
Take care all,
Tania
-
Tania, are you seeing a Lactation Consultant? If you want to continue breastfeeding (or even if you're not sure and just want to keep your options open) and LC can really save you. If you PM Barb she can probably recommend a good one in your area. Or else you can try calling the ABA (1800 686 2 686). They can give you support and advice over the phone, and also may be able to recommend an LC or get you in touch with an ABA counsellor in your area.
You're not wasting your time giving your baby breastmilk, hon. I understand if you feel it's not feasible to continue - that's your choice to make - but it really isn't a waste of time, even if he's only getting a small amount.
On a practical level - how often is he feeding? Did you try taking him off and switching sides over? The more often he empties the breast the more milk you'll make. So, if you give him 20 mins on side 1, then 20 on side 2, then back to 1, your breasts will get more stimulation (compared to just 1 hr on one side) and (in theory, hopefully) you'll make more milk.
All the best, whichever way you decide
-
Tania,
Please seek some support and advice regarding the breastfeeding as you have said it is something you really want/wanted to do. I was topping-up my DS with formula, and I am so relieved that I could manage to give that up as it's twice the effort to have to do both (bf and ff). Your DS is still so young - his tummy is still tiny. Little and often might be better. The volume of formula 'suggested' is very different to the volume of breastmilk that your DS might need.
At least if you can get some proper advice, you can feel more at ease that whatever decision you make is the right one for you both - not something you felt forced into.
Take care of yourself - it's a tough gig.
-
HI there BB people, I have not been on BB since prior to having my twins in Feb. I remember Shannon from the forum and wish you all the best for your next IVF journey. I had my babies 8wks early and feel like I haven't slept since I went into labour! I find a combination of the IVF experience and having 2 premmie babies has exhausted me. Their names are Lily and Emma and are travelling along well, barring the usual stuff like teething. It is quite overwhelming parenting after waiting for it to happen for so long. However that all said and done I would like to have another baby, but weighing up if I have the capacity to handle it...
Hope to get to know people again after being away from BB for a while.

Hello there everyone,
I have been lurking and reading to catch up with you all but I'm still far from being up to date. I just wanted to stick my head in and introduce myself before I get trumped by others in the PALTTTC;)
I thought that I had a traumatic birth and a bit to work through, having had my little girl Jasmine Lucie on the 29th of October via caesarian. She was breech all the way through the pg so although cs was elective, it could not have been any other way as at the birth it was discovered that not only was the cord wrapped around her neck 3 times, but my placenta was thin and my uterus the wrong shape to have a vb:o. Owing to all this, she came into the world with a rude shock and it took a bit to get her little life started, which gave us a hell of a scare to say the very least. She was blue and APGARS were a bit sluggish but I can happily report that at 10 minutes, she scored a perfect 10. It really was a terrifying experience for those few minutes of not knowing, but overall my birth experience was actually really good and after debriefing myself, writing it all down and revisiting the scary photos, I have decided I will write my birth story to give something back to those, like me that want to see all sides of the story (especially those with happy outcomes regardless of a bumpy beginning).
Jasmine is turning 6 weeks on Thursday and things are going wonderfully well. I feel guilty reading some of your posts about breast feeding and although I have nothing to add, I really feel for you girls that are struggling and applaud your efforts. I just hope that you don't feel like you have to keep at it if it's not working for you. Like someone said (sorry, can't remember who), but the most important thing is a happy Mummy. You don't need to blame yourselves for anything you can or can't do with your babies. If you love them and care for them and meet their needs in the best way you can, then you can't feel bad. Give yourselves a break, it's bloody hard work and some people's bodies are just physically incompatible. I'm doing it because I can but also because it's free (and we're poor :), plus all the other good reasons of bonding etc, but I'm sure that you would bond just as much looking into each others eyes, holding close to the body while feeding from a bottle. I hate any social stigma that surrounds BF vs bottle feeding and have seen women bruised for decades due to their inability to produce milk or whatever reason. Look after yourselves first so you can be the best Mums to your babies.
I'm not sleeping alot, not getting much done, still very sore some days from the cs and today had to practically sleep all day because yesterday Jazzy and I had a big day doing the groceries in town. Three feeds and three nappy changes while out and about makes it a bit awkward to say the least but i live out of town like a lot of you so I have to just adjust. It's only my second time driving since the birth so although I've had to do lots and lots of trips as passenger, I have to get used to now doing it myself. It's such a lovely feeling to drive your little one yourself though(quite surreal). she is a great little traveler, which is so lucky because she is profoundly deaf and we have had to make umpteen trips to Cairns with her (4 hours return) to see specialists of every variety and that won't stop any time soon. Next week we take her to Townsville which is 6 hours away to get hearing aids fitted and then we have to trot back up and down to Carins fortnights to have the hearing aids adjusted due to her growing ...errr. I wont' ever complain about her hearing loss, I certainly haven't shed a tear (yet) but the travel may wear a bit thin especially when we have to go to brisbane to meet the cochlear team. We have a happy, healthy girl and you will hopefully never hear me complain.
Cheers, look forward to meeting you all in time and sharing the ride xoxo
-
Hi All
Murph: So good to see you over hear now. I hope your little Jazzy is putting on heaps of weight and fingers crossed will be a little porker before you know it. Good luck getting the hearing aids fitted, do they think it will have any effect on her hearing at all or is it something they are doing to try and get her used to having to wear them??
Miss M: I'm so glad that Trent is doing well, it can be so tiring b/fing and then bottle feeding (plus all the extra work required and time lost) but hopefully you can get some help and maybe the top up's will start to dwindle and you can 100% b/f.
Janie: Wow, Jasmine seems like a very active little girl especially crawling around in her sleep. And already pulling herself up on things, I think you may have an early walker there. Gosh they grow up so fast.
Everyone else a big hello and I hope you are all doing well.
AFU: Off to get weigh in today so am excited to see how much Tara now weighs. I'm thinking she has got to be close to the 5kg mark now (little porker) and considering she had 920mls of formula yesterday she will be stacking on the weight before my eyes. Girls I don't want to rub it in but I didn't tell that when Tara goes down for the night she will have her 7-8 hour sleep and depending on when she wakes for a feed (all depends on when she went down for the night) I can then pop her back into bed and she will sleep for a further 3-5 hours. So we are getting fantastic night sleeps it just means that she is awake most of the day now as she will only have cat naps of between 20-40 minutes to recharge her batteries. But I can't complain as she has already learnt the difference between night and day.
Still trying to get her into a feeding routine, but it is hard to predict as she varies with what she will take at each feed. Generally it is between 150mls - 230mls, but sometimes she just wants little snack feeds of 70mls - 80mls depending on how she feels. So I have to be prepared everyday for any possibility which makes it hard when we go out as I have no idea when she will want feeding next and how much. I'm off to the hairdressers tomorrow, so it will be interesting to see how she goes for the 1 1/2 hours I will be there.
Anyway, I will drop back in later to update on how big my little girl is.
-
Kelly - well done on the sleeping. They all get into their own little routines and we just learn to live around them, and trust that we know our babies the best.
Murph - you sound very positive and happy, even after all you have been through. But hey, don't feel you can't ever complain! We all need to some days!
queenh - congrats on your twins. What an amazing double blessing. It must be very hard work some days - I hope you are getting some help and support. I don't know how Shannon does it :)
Janie - funny about your 'NZ time/Aus time' struggles. DS has been to NZ a few times with me, and I have to sheepishly admit that he sleeps better there...I am convinced it's all the attention he gets that tires him out. But you can guarantee he does not sleep on the plane or during the travelling, which makes me one of those parents that no-one want to sit beside!!
Shanon - I'm sorry that you have had these disappointments. I'm sure it's in no way easy to deal with when you have the twins to take care of too. Especially contemplating another stim cycle.
I don't think that i have said yet, but this bub is breech too. I'm a bit annoyed as he was head down (not engaged though) from about 27 weeks. Then he went and did a big flip. :wall: So, keep your fingers crossed for me that he decides to do another big flip...and stays that way.
-
O.K back from weigh in.... and my little girl has put on a massive 600 grams in 2 weeks and now weighs in at 4.8kgs. So she has now gone from being in the 25th percentile to being in the perfect weigh range, but to me that is such a huge gain. And her length has now gone from being in the normal range to now being longer than average, so I'm thinking we are going to end up with a tall girl here.
Everything else was perfect and we are having an extra visit next month for another weigh in just to see how much more she can grow. Oh, my baby is going to grow up too fast.. I forgot to mention that she also did her first front to back roll on Sunday afternoon . She hasn't wanted to do another one since but she will turn onto her side if she is put on her tummy now.
-
Kelly - well done Tara on the great weight gain and also on the first roll! I know when Jasmine first did it she took a while to figure out how to do it again. Jasmine hated tummy time, so she tried so hard to figure out how to get out of that position! Oh, and by the way I'm not talking to you any more  (just kidding) - can not believe how great Tara is sleeping all ready - seriously Jasmine is in need of some of that!
Lenny - fingers crossed for another flip. Hopefully bubs will do it just in time.
Murph and Jasmine - welcome to the thread. Glad to hear things are still going well and hope all goes well with the hearing aid fitting.
Queen - great to see you back! I know how hard it is with one baby, so you must be run off your feet!
Hi Marcellus, Mako, Tania, Shannon and anyone else I have missed.
AFU - all is well here, still in NZ with a sleep crawling baby ;) I forgot to say that she is now also saying Mumma - not 100% sure that she knows that word means me, but I would like to think that she does. She says it a lot and often says it when she is upset so I think she is getting the idea!
Hope everyone is well.

Hey there,
thanks for welcoming me on board, I do look forward to catching up but for now I am just moving forward with you and will take time later for all the personals.
Lenny, ahh, if I never complained, what would I have to talk about?;) I just meant I won't complain about Jasmine's hearing loss like it's a burden to us, because we feel so thoroughly blessed and of course she is just perfect to us. we spent 15 years on this little mission and were told we had zero chance of ever conceiving, so like lots of you ladies, this is our miracle and we are still pinching ourselves.
Hi Janie, your gorgeous girl sounds cuter every time we hear from you and it sounds like a lovely time in your lives. Thanks for sharing, I can really feel the love in your voice and I know just what you mean about not having the words to describe it. My DH and I (as I'm sure you all are) are just smitten and just look at her for ages amazed at what life has given us and how wonderful it's all working.
Kelly, hello there, I finally moved over next door. It's hard leaving our old thread with our old friends after sharing the journey all the way through, but I'm sure this thread will feel like home and I'll cut the apron strings soon.
As for Tara Rose (fatty boomba) as my Mum is calling Jasmine after making it to a hefty 3.2 kilos at 6 weeks today. I have followed in your footsteps all through my pg and even our babies are progressing the same, but two weeks from now, I don't want Jazzy to be at 4.5 kilos. Not yet, I have just bought the last of her nappy system and we are still on extra small bum genius with smalls all set to go next, but have got her in gorgeous Itty bitty d'lish which are just edible (at least when they go on;)). Wow though, you must be so happy to see her that healthy. Yay:dance:
AFU today another trip down to Cairns, for hip scans ( a routine thing at 6 weeks for breech babies) and we had her weighed and measured. when the GP said Jasmine is now above the line, I thought she meant the thick black line (the median in the growth charts), but when I checked it all with DH we worked out she is now just not so off the radar and is now just over the lowest lines on the growth charts. I hope you know what I'm talking about:wall: Anyway, it's all progress and she is a long way from being tiny and fragile so we have no worries. I can't believe how chubby she feels at this weight compared to two weeks ago.
Count down is on to Operation tiny pink hearing aids. Oh it will be so cute. We don't expect they will work but it's a first step to finding out if she will benefit before going down the track of invasive procedures like CAT scans and MRIs and the whole cochlear investigation which we find a bit scary on one so little as they have to be under general. anyway, tiny baby steps and first things first is our trip to townsville for our hot pink hearing aids on Wednesday. yay!
Hope you are all well.
P.S, by the way, guess what Kelly, I'm not jealous cos Jazzy is doing the same sleep routine now too, (exactly...tooo funny).

Hi Murph! Welcome to you and Jasmine. Sounds like she's doing so well after her bumpy start. Well done to you!
wow Janie, getting "mummas" already! That's wonderful. We'll be in NZ soon.... visiting the in-laws. Not looking forward to the flights. Given his track record, I would give A a 0.2% probability of sleeping on the plane...
FLIP little baby, FLIP!!! Your mummy is getting worried. Come on, please don't leave it till the last minute.
Wow - chubba bubba Kelly!
Hello Lily & Emma! How are you queenh?
Hi everyone else!

Good afternoon girls,
Just a quick post from me as Trent is asleep and Im STUFFED so am going to go to bed too! He was up until 2am last night with bad wind pains the poor thing. I feel so helpless when he is in pain like that.
Wanted to say a big HELLO AND WELCOME to Murph, its so nice to see you in here :D Glad Jasmine is getting bigger and stronger everyday. She is such a beautiful and special little girl and we have followed each others journeys from the beginning so its so nice to hear how things are progressing.
As for fatty boomba's, Trent weighed in at 4.2kgs at his 4 week check up!!! He's gained lots of weight since coming home  But he looks very healthy to me :D
Had my first mothersgroup meeting too on Wednesday, there was 5 of us all up and they all seemed lovely. Im hoping to make some new friends as all of my friends have kids whom are now at school so will be nice to have friends going through the same things as I am.
I have a busy weekend ahead so am going to head off to catch up on some sleep and recharge the batteries in readiness for the weekend (and the nightshift with Trent!)
Hello to Kelly, Marcellus, Janie, Lenny, Shannon and everyone else. Have a GREAT weekend and catch up with more personals soon :D
Take care,
Tania

OMG Miss M Trent is a little chubster for sure, Tara was 4.2kg at 6 weeks although from memory he was a little bigger than her when he was born. Just goes to show though that he must be getting enough breast milk with the little top up's if he is gaining weight like a trooper.
Hi to everyone else, hope you are all going well.
AFU: Just back from Tara having her immunisations, she was so good and only screamed when she got the needles - one in each thigh and even managed to smile at us afterwards. She is sleeping now although is a little unsettled and keeps whinging in her sleep, fingers crossed that she doesn't have any reaction but i'm thinking we might have an unsettled night tonight. Thank god tomorrows saturday so DH & I can do shifts if/when she wakes up.
O.k thought I would add to this post... It's 7am on Saturday and Tara is still asleep. She had some baby panadol at 6.30pm last night, had her last feed at 7pm and was in bed by 8pm. She is still asleep now, so that's an 11 hour block so far. I think this is the first time I have woken up before her in the morning. Looks like the panadol took the discomfort away for her and the needles have knocked her out. What a good little girl she is.. Oh, she is also 2 months old today gosh time has flown by.

Hi girls,
Glad you guys and your little ones are doing well. Should really make an effort to join in this forum and share my experiences as well. Just finding time is hard as I have gone back to work and in between work, house work and caring for Lyla I just want to sleep with the rest of the time.
Murph, I hope things turn out well for you both. You've got such positive attitude.
Kelly, don't be surprise if your little one sleeps through the night at around 2 months. Mine moved from sleeping 5-7 hours to a full 9-12 hours sleep at around 7 weeks. That's the beauty of formula feed - it sustain the little one more I think. Would still like to breast feed but nature thinks otherwise. I find the most challenging thing after this period is helping our little ones self settle to go to sleep. I had lots of tips from others and because Lyla is naturally good at sleeping (especially) she learnt to self settle very quickly. We mistook her tiredness for a need for feed in the early stages but soon learnt that she really wanted sleep than feed. I was told that if they take less than their normal full meal ie less than 90ml than probably they are not very hungry and is only snacking to settle to sleep.
Janie, first words are amazing aren't they. My little one babbles all the time, especially in the morning when she wakes and waits for mum to come and get her. I don't understand a darn thing but can't wait until the day she says mumma. She's not yet crawling but is rolling around and pushing herself forward with her knees and feet (knee tuck under and bum pointing right up and feet crawing away )
Hi to everyone else I have not mentioned.

Hi Miss Magpie and Trent - glad to hear you are going well, apart from the wind pains. Have you tried burping in all kinds of different positions (sorry if dumb question, I'm just finding that things often arent written in the books and you become an expert on your own baby through trial and error - and it feels good :) I find that Jasmine always needs to be sat on her bum on my lap or the edge of the table, slumped over with chin in my hand and patted on the back. If that doesn't work, then we try various over the shoulder positions, all look very awkward and almost wrong, but they work. I hope you get some relief soon.
Kelly D - haha, i spoke too soon about Jazz settling into sleeping patterns, that night, I was back to 2 hourly wake ups all night:o. she's a bit all over the shop and at the moment, I'd actually prefer she doesn't sleep too long so if I get 5 hours in a stint at this stage I'm happy. I really only had a couple of 8 hour nights but coming off 2 hourly feeds, the 5 hours are a welcome relief. We don't get any crying unless we miss all the signs so that's a really good thing. Ithink because she sleeps right by the bed and when she stirs, we (haha, I mean, I) am on top of it she doesn't get worked up.
Hi Kahlan - nice to see you and Lyla popping in to update us. Wow, 5 1/2 months already and almost crawling - so cute! I'm still getting over Janie's Jasmine being 8 months.
Lenny, Marcellus, QueenH and everyone I haven't met yet, hope you are all trundling along happily. We don't seem to get as much time to talk in this thread. I know that the times I seem to be able to get on now, I have Jazzy attached feeding and I'm considering typing one-handed as I scroll through. I haven't done it yet though, I always put my entries in the too hard basket at those times and just read instead.
I experienced my first screaming fit from Jasmine while out doing the groceries. I thought it would pass and as I was driving, and had just fed and changed her before leaving the shops, I really pushed it to make it to the next proper stop on the way home instead of just pulling to the side of the road. Then I got to a stretch of coastal road where I just couldn't pull over. It nearly killed me to not be able to respond to her (as nature intended I suppose). Who ever invented the words "controlled crying" must have had a heart of stone. It's not a school I'm signing up to. She was dehydrated and though she didn't need feeding she needed to drink and the crying on top of that stressed her to the max. I will never do it again. I was absolutely frazzled by the time I got home and had stopped two more times to give her drinks. It's been really hot and getting carted around the country side takes it toll. I only live half an hour from the nearest town, but I have to wait for the car ferry so it is really drawn out and my usual 3 hour return shopping trip took 5 and a half hours :o. I was so done in. we both were and DH thinks he had better take over the task. I don't wnat to give up, I just want to get better at reading the signs and if it's going to take longer, then so be it as long as we are both up to it. I almost laid down to have a big cry (you know the exhausted cry), but remembered I had to make a video message for my nephew and DH had learnt "happy birthday" to play on his guitar so we had a few laughs instead and I soon forgot my previous mood. Jazz and I went and laid down for a little while while DH made tea (yummy sushi rice and veg) and brought it into bed and laid it out picnic style on the bed, complete with axe cushions, table cloth and pot of green tea. So sweet that fella of mine. This is why Valentines day means nothing to me when the everyday things can be so special. what a relief to not have to move or think!
Seeya soon, I got choc fudge brownie with my name on it...yummmmy!

Hi all,
Sorry for no personals today but just catching up after getting home...
Last Thurs Mum had a big neck operation so have been in Melb at my sisters place (up for flights of stairs - no lift), for the past few days. Despite being very out of routine, DS was great, although he is very sick of getting in and out of cars as we have had 2+wks of travelling. Fingers crossed we can have a quieter week, although we have to go to Albury Hospital on Thurs to learn how to do wet dressings for his eczema!
Hope that everyone is going along well and getting ready for the heat that is coming by the end of the week!
Stay cool everyone!
