MURPH - YAY a girl!
i love my bub sooo much but i feel a bit sad that im not having a girl it sounds terrible i know and i honestly didnt care before i know what we were having in fact I preferred a boy originally coz me and DF love AFL and would love to have a son to play footy with his dad but now when i see ppl posting they are having girls i get a tad jealous and dont know why. This will prob be our only child well for at least 10 years or so due to the terrible time im having physically with this preg and couldnt ever imagine doing this again so maybe its coz im afraid il never experience having a daughter.
also someone mentioned a doppler and stethoscope, im not the thinnest person in the world and my uterus tilts back very far into my spine, hence the not showing much still, and my GP got a heartbeat straight away at 14 weeks with me, a good doppler should detect before 20 weeks and i also have an anterior placenta, I have my own really top notch stethoscope and still cant hear bubs heart with it, i guess everyones body is different and i personally dont think its worth the stress!
Grub - congrats on the great scan, im so happy for you, its such a relief isnt it.
Neptune, you made me laugh with your yoga story. But I bet you weren't the first and won't be the last!! That's hilarious, I bet you couldn't get out of there quick enough!
Jen, you poor thing! It's a bit hard to follow doc's recommendations when you do need to keep working for financial reasons. I guess it depends if work is able to be a bit flexible in allowing you to take a break when you need it... When you think about it, even if you were at home, if you can't sit for long periods, you''ll need to be moving about anyway - might as well be moving about at work and earning money at the same time (assuming you're not doing a desk job). When had you hoped to continue working until before your pelvis problems kicked in?? My ob told me with twins that I'd want to be finishing up work by 22-24 weeks just because of tiredness. Hope you're feeling a bit better soon - think of the end result!
ROFL Neptune.. that's a hilarious trip to yoga! but i'm hearing you about the wind. I did an inappropriate "passing" as we left the docs the other day. it was soooo loud it echoed through the corridor! i think i would have cried through embarrassment if anyone had been there, but thankfully it was just DH (who laughed his butt off -apparently at the horrified face i pulled) and I.
thanks MHB and those 14 weeks will fly by i'm sure! just think it's already half way through the year... only feels like it was chrissy a few weeks ago! i wouldn't think that you don't love your bubs just because you kinda wish for the other colour somtimes! i think that's pretty natural. we are treating this bub like it'll be our only one and i think there will be an element of sadness for the colour it isn't! iykwim. (but we hope one of our two frosties will work out for us but you know the cost/stress of ivf)

MHB, I know what you mean about feeling disappointed about not having a girl and guilty about it. Maybe it helps to know that some girls don't like wearing pink and being girly and some boys, no matter what the expectation of parents who want a little footy player, are naturally into art or wearing dresses and run away from a footy. Then again I have a niece who has beat the boys at every sport she has ever played, including Aussie Rules, soccer, hockey etc and a nephew who doesn't like boys and loves pink!! It's all a wonderful big surprise. Good luck with those feelings, you'll forget them soon enough. I can't believe you have 14 weeks left!
As soon as my exams are over I'm going start nesting and making things for the baby, (good work JenC). We are planning a huge road trip next year and have to do our homework on how many nappies a day we will need to go through and then get onto ordering them in bulk. Can you believe, most of us will have babies at Christmas, I'm still getting my head around it.
