Pregnancy after Long Term TTC #3 - 2009

MHB: Good luck with your exam and yay for getting your temp down. I know we all try and avoid any medications but sometimes it is the only thing to do.

Well, so much for little tiny movements recently. I think my little girl has realised she has legs...... at 2.30am..... She kept me awake for about an hour last night having her own little dance marathon and no matter what position I moved to she kept on going and going and going. I know I was looking forward to feeling her move, but during the day is much better than in the middle of the night IFKWIM.

OB appt on Thursday and then off to Perth next week for a weeks break with my sister. Although she is paranoid I'll catch Swine Flu and bring it over to Perth. Then 1 more 4 weekly appt after that and then onto 2 weekly appts. I think this second 1/2 is going to fly by (hopefully).

I got my FISH results back yesterday and everything is fine :dance: We are both really wrapped. I also got told the sexes as well we are having BOYS
So bring on the blue clothes. Im still on cloud nine but feeling really tired as I didn't get much sleep lastnight.

I'm still going along ok. We've past 30 weeks which was a little milestone last Friday. Still getting lots of back pain but I know it will all be worth it. Ob tells me it's my ribs because they move to allow everything to expand.

Yayyyyyyyy Azzrenae!!!!!!!!!!! Even my DH is happy for you, knowing how much of a fantastic feeling it is that you can relax and enjoy without the worry hanging over you (us). Twin boys, what a laugh. Your other half must be rapt. Congrats and enjoy the feeling, I'm so happy for you.

MHB - so relieved that you didn't get a full blown flu, but remember there are always special circumstances where you can sit your exams at other times and deal with your illness if you really have to. It's our body's way of making us slow down and look after ourselves (and babies). Besides, next semester some of us will be having our babies and they might just not want to cooperate at exam time. Mine is due smack bang in the middle of them, so should be fun! Hope you are on the mend.

Kelly - no movement from me yet either. I barely know I'm pregnant apart from my bulgy belly. Yep, unlike some, I have that little pouch out front that must just look like I've had a few pies too many! I'm wearing it proudly and really loving the whole feeling of dressing for the bump, but I envy girls with that real developed no mistaking bump.

I had such a full on day today but I want to tell you a little story about my spoodle (that's a ****er spaniel crossed with a miniature poodle) and a long drawn out lasagne saga. Our day was huge, in Cairns for my big scans..yay...we left home at 6.00am, and then I had an exam at uni later so didn't get home until around 5.00pm. It's an off shopping week so the groceries are low and I was planning to make that damned lasagne I've been putting off while there's been study and work. anyway, the thought wasn't looking great as I was tired but I'd committed to doing it...until we got home and saw Charlie's reign of destruction. she had fretted (which was fair enough), she's never done it before and it was a looooong day for a lonely pup. It' s the longest we've ever left the dogs in the house but there was no avoiding it as we don't have fences. Ever so systematically charlie has gone through the rooms she had access to and brought little trinkets and placed them in a nest of shredded toilet paper on her mat (a full toilet roll) and the one cupboard left ajar in the kitchen contained ...you guessed it, the lasagne sheets. Gone! so were the stock cubes and salt...oh dear. After trying to work out how to parent that behaviour, we had to laugh at the irony of that doomed lasagne. We went to the local pub for tea after all that :dance.

My scans were like some of you have said, pretty amazing to see the little human inside you. she was incredibly active and didnt stop once. the stenographer had never seen such a wriggler and was a bit frustrated. It took about two hours of prodding and looking and trying to get her to stop long enough for measurements but it was all okay by me. I was just awestruck seeing all that detail in something still so tiny (250g) now. we got some beautiful ultrasound pics and some bizarre 3D pics that are so clear I have no idea how they can do that. Still a bit skeletal yet but still very cool.

Now we give Jazzy her privacy and we don't see her now until she is born. Seems so strange we now just step back after all this monitoring. Now we just wait for the crazy kicks and to feel movement.

thanks for listening to my loooong post, you can tell I'm hyper after finishing my last exam today for the semester and seeing Jasmine literally in the flesh. Good luck if you are still studying!

azz- congrats on the boys! it seems to be mostly blue around BB at the moment!

murph - my bub is due in between my hospital placements but my uni has a policy where we cant go out until 6 weeks after the birth and i have no classes coz every one else is doing their placement at that time and i have mine in november december but should still graduate the same date as everyone else so should work out although i have 4 weeks of hospital placement in august and will almost be popping out! also dont stress about the bump mine is still not distinct, (retroverted uterus) and im carrying high and in the spine so often feels like bubs is kicking my in the bum! you will get there

AFM - not soooo bad today although still feel crap :( another exam this arvo, then a day off!

haahhaa murph - how gorgeous of your little pup!poor little might. our dog STILL collects our shoes left at the back door when we are away and sleeps with them... carries them around the yard etc.

congrats on finishin your exams :clap: and :dance: a big woot woot for active-jazzy! lol. you soooo deserve to just sit back and relax a bit! (and i think you hit the wrong key... sonographer, not stenographer! unless you've got some shorthand written across your belly of course ;) )

azz - WOOOHOOOO!!!! i'm so relieved for you! and boys!! how fun! now you can get out there and start shopping! yayayaya.

oh MHB - sending you a hug... just try and look to the end... it'll be over soon! and as for exams when bubs here - i wouldn't worry about that now. just look after you. :hugs:

kaydee - :clap: for reaching 30 weesk... on the home stretch now!! but not so great for that whole sore back/expanding rib thing. ouchy! hope you get some relief. one of my friends said leaning on an exercise ball or on all fours helped her back pain as it took pressre off her back etc.

kellyd - sorry, had to laugh at your sleepless neight. what a lovely problem to have! (glad i didn't say that to you at 3am the other day, probably would have got a filthy look eh? lol). hope your appnt goes well... let us know if you get a chance before jetting over to the west! and have a FANTASTIC braek with sissy.

we've got our second Ob appointment today after our NT scans a couple weeks back. not sure what happens but hopefully she'll do another little scan so we can sneak a peak (hehee). I'm super excited cos I think next appnt is when we should be able to find out the sex!!

some girls were talking about bellies - mine started to protrude at 11wks, which really really freaked me out. now it's quiet obvious i'm UTD. My appetite is insaltiable (sp) still and i still want carbs. It's stressing me out big time and seems like every day is a battle against sausage rolls, lasange and chips! brh. i've put on 3kg in the last 3 weeks! argh! but hadn't put on any til then. still, after years of good diet and lots of exercise to watch my weight, it's making me extremely antsy. still get tired pretty quick as well but otherwise feeling good.

how do you deal with a big appetite? is anyone else worried about putting on 500kg courtesy of the local bakery? everyone keeps telling me not to worry about it "you are meant to put weight on" and i know that ... but the amount of weight going on is freaking me out iykwim. anyhoo, there's not a lot i can do about it but just find it exhausting. not sure if i've made sense, I'm okay putting on 15kg for preg but at my curent rate i'll put on closer to 30kg so am just stressing.

don't apologise for long posts or I would have to say sorry every time:redface:. I think I missed my calling as a stenographer;) I love having a good long read as well. It's not always full on action in here (thankfully) and sometimes the mundane is very refreshing as we all deal with the stresses that our little bundles of joy bring us! I can't remember the last time I thought of pram shopping, it seems like a lifetime ago I was all excited and then to go through all that frightening stuff, prams just kind of don't have any significance. I'm just so happy to have her in my belly and can think of nothing beyond that yet. I haven't bought another thing even though I know she is here to stay. I guess it's just that I've had such a shake that priorities change. I know that things will come together when I need them to, family will rally, money will fall from the sky and Jazzy and Andy and I will be fine so I'm not actually planning anything!

Bring on the bakery stories I say! As for your weight worries. If I remember correctly, you are a bit of a fit chick so it probably will come as a surprise that your body wants to fight you a bit. I gained a bit but I think it's kind of just for a limited time and then the baby ate into it and it evened out so that I have only maintained about 2 or 3 kilos of extra wight so far. Apparently she weighs 250g now and the rest is just padding and nutrients (read, good old fat). from what I have read, it's pretty normal to gain about 6kg in this trimester and then it settles down. As for what you eat, lay off the banana bread before a scan. i had a very hyperactive little girl and the sonographer :lol: told me it was because of what I had eaten. It made me think of what I put in and there starts the first stages of mother guilt....it's all down hill from here:doh:. First it's the alcohol and caffeine and next the banana bread, where does it end?? Moderation and common sense, the same as anything I think. Go the bakery, go the exercise and also try to work out your hero foods that stave off the cravings. Soft boiled eggs or hard boiled eggs are great for protein, greens and vegies, nuts and lentils, good bit of kangaroo steak (my favourite) for iron. chips and bad stuff when you need it but not for every meal and you'll work out a balance. Like I said, I'm no earth mother, I'm too lazy to be so damned good and we are deprived of all other luxuries, (alcohol, alcohol, alcohol....):doh:

Okay, I'm having too much fun with my freedom and better not hog the conversation.

Good luck with your exam today MHB and thanks for the reassurance. My placenta is apparently anterior and posterior and in a perfect position away from my cervix. Ohh I wish I had paid attention in sex ed. I have to go and google these things:redface:

Kaydee - wow congrats on reaching 30 weeks... it goes really fast from here... trust me.

With regards to the whole weight thing, 1 gained 1kg in 1st trimester, 12kg in 2nd trimester (and most was at the later end of my 2nd trimester) and only 3 in 3rd trimester so far. You girls are concerned about carb...and I am concerned about eating too much processed sugar.. like cakes, ice cream and chocolate. Can't seem to get enough of it. DH reckons I am making up for all those years of self denial (I told him I never liked these sugary food until now). God I hope I don't continue to crave them.

Alright, off to bed for me for a nap.

After a long wait Monday I finally saw my little one's heart beat and found Out I'm 8 weeks pregnant (only thought 7) :leap:

It's been such a long IVF journey and now it seams so short. Funny how it is all really worth it in the end :D

Been in a bit of a daze focusing on all the important thing ME and bubs. But also being a little restless about work and how they will react and friends too.

Mum knows and a few really close friends. DP's Son knows of course, I've been an emotional mess so better he knows why.

Been a bit off colour the last few weeks don't know if it's pg stuff of ongoing bugs......

I'm still glowing on the inside.

Hope to get to know you all more through the rest of my pg.

Gee it is soooo busy in here, it is so wonderful that all us LTTC'ers are finally here!!! I still have to go back and read everyones posts so i can do personals, but alas i have to get ready for work, i am late, back tonight i promise!!

Murph and Grub - Thanks for thinking of us! We're just fine and travelling along, our next OB appt is on Tuesday and we will be 16 weeks then. Then we only have 3 more weeks to wait to see our little bub again!!!! Cannot wait!

Congrats Greenslw, that is fantastic it is a long process being on IVF but so worth it in the end, Isn't it amazing to see that little blob has a heart beat just think that little blob turns out to be a little baby.

Welcome Greenslw: I remember you from earlier, I hope you have a H & H 7 more months.

Come on girls, this thread is looking distincly Blue at the moment. Lets hope that some of the newbies can add some pink like Murph and me. Although I think 2009/10 is the year of the boy. Everyone we knew having babies in 2007/08 had girls so I suppose you guys are just evening up the ledger and considering my bundle is technically a 2008 baby (from EPU and freezing) I'm not surprised we were having a girl.

Had my 22 week ob appt today. I'm such an easy patient, blood pressure low, no swelling, no unusual symptoms and 10 minutes and I'm out of there. Fundal (spell?) was at 23cm for just under 22 weeks so a little bigger but no drama and a big dent in my bank balance after paying our bill for having a private ob. At least by paying now I can claim the out of pocket on tax this year and am still eligible to get my 80% rebate from Medicare before any possible changes. So now just going to take it easy, having visitors this weekend but have decided to eat out on Saturday night so no cooking for me and as you all know off to Perth next Wednesday.

Hope you are all doing well, and I look forward to reading all your stories. They put a smile on my face everyday.
