Hi ladies. May I join you?

After almost 2 years and 9 months I have just gotten my first ever BFP. DH & I are equal parts excited and terrified! I haven't even been in touch with our IVF clinic since our last BFN with them in June, but I'll be calling them tomorrow and seeing if they'll do a b/t for me!!

    Hi ladies

well I have no idea where the last week and a half has gone, but I wanted to let you all know that we did it!!!

We welcomed Hamish Charles and Lachlan Edward into the world last wed - 09.09.09.

Both boys were much smaller than we expected - Hish was 1.46kg and Lachlan 1.23kg- but both are doing supremely well and now out of intensive care and into the special care nursery.

I am one blissed out mama and cannot describe how much I love them. It's so intense.

C-sec was a really positive experience, Bf going reasonably well so far, and mama and daddy just enjoying staring at our little miracles

sorry it's taken so long to let you all know what's happened!!

    Thinkng of you all

DrBeee, I am so sorry that thuis wasn't your time. Take care of yourself

JenC - Fantastic!!! Congrats on the birth of Hamish and Lachlan, sounds like it was a fantastic experience!

Juniper - WElcome, it is wonderful to see you here!!!! I rememeber hanging with you in the LTTTC thread a few months back. STicky vibes to you.

Grub - Hello girl! Don't worry, we have only just come up with a name. I was easy and had quite a few that I liked, but DH wasn't too keen. He came up with one the other day and it just feels right! WE both like it which is a step in the right direction.

I only had to take off my rings a couple of weeks ago, but now my hands are disgusting; blotchy and purple and numb with carpal tunnel in the right hand. I hope you don't get it, it is quite uncomfortable. Can't hold a cup of tea for more than a few seconds.

Ahhhh whinge whinge whinge. I am nearly there, so don't want to complain too much!!!!

DH now has 7 days off from work. SURELY I will have a nursery by the end of this week (when I will be 37.5 weeks????). I live in hope!

    Hello Everyone

Drbeee - so sorry to hear that it wasn't the outcome you were hoping for. I hope you can start that cycle you were embarking on soon and get that BFP.

Thanks for your welcomes! I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Congrats to the newbies. I am one too!

I am over the moon because my DH finally felt kicks! I was getting down because he seemed to show no interest and I was always telling him he needs to be patient and have his hand there for longer than 30 seconds! So today we sat and waited and he was patient and was rewarded. He even saw a few belly movements. He then gave my belly the sweetest heartfelt kiss which he hadn't really done yet as I guess it hasn't been real to him until now.

    Hi Everyone

DrBee: So sorry to hear of your loss, take care and hopefully we will see you back here very soon.

Juniper & Poppy: Welcome, I hope you both have fantastic pregnancies..

Poppy: My DH was the same with the movement thing. When I used to feel movement I would let him know to come feel, but he wanted her to be like a trained dog I think and move on command, I told him he needs to be patient and then he will be rewarded with a kick.

Jen: Congrats on the arrival of Hamish & Lachlan and I am sooooo happy to hear that they are doing well and that you are able to spend special time bonding with them. Hopefully time will fly and you will be able to take them home soon.

Grub: Boys names are so hard I think, before we knew what we were having I was trying to get a list of both boys & girls names together. Girls names were a piece of cake but wow I really struggled with a list of boys names, luckily I dodged that bullet this time.

Neptune: I hope this week will be very productive for DH for you and that you will have your nursery soon. You have more strength than me though, I would be stressed to the max if I didn't have everything organised already.

To all my other lovelies, sending you big belly rubs for a good week.

AFM: Well 3 weeks today until c/s and I really can't wait to meet this little one now, have to get over Grand Final this weekend and then DH's birthday the week after so at least some things to occupy me between now and the 12th. We put the car seat into the Station Wagon yesterday and we are getting the cargo barrier installed on Wednesday and then we are ready for her to arrive. Trust me after last nights dance party I am truly ready to have my body back. I had continual partying from 7.30pm to 11.30 pm and I don't just mean little movements, I had feet, legs, bottom and hands coming out at all angles, although after all that partying she seemed to sleep until 7.30 this morning so that was a blessing as I was exhausted. Anyway better get on with my day we have a tree lopper coming in today to cut down some trees and get rid of some dead branches before bushfire season starts again... Ahh the joys of living in the country.

Grub - last night I went through an entire baby name book that says it has 75,000+ names and didn't find one boy name that both DH and I liked. Girls names are much easier

ROFL - i'm hearing you gurlfren lol.

and kelly d i think half the reason dh wanted a girl was cos the girls name list was sooo easy. yes you have 'avoided a bullet' lol, not sure if its that dramatic tho.

well we got down to a shortlist of four names - thinking about posting in the baby names folder for some feedback. But there really isn't a name i just love or that we instatnly fell in love with. i think it is a more intellectual decision with a boy. brh. can't believe jen had to think of TWO boy names ! lol.

oh kelly d how exciting... it's going to fly by and you'll have your little bundle there with you!

poppyfairy - that's wonderful news about your little kicker givng DH a boot. my hubby doesn't seem as interested in my belly as my boobs mind you and his hand always manages to migrate north (or south). men! i've already broken the news that the boobies are the babies in 12 weeks time - he looked as sad as the dog when you tell her to go outside.

neptune - love you can be my whinging buddy. we'll whinge and moan and complain and groan to each other. my feet hurt and are swollen, my sciatica is playing up again! i kept getting painful spasms on the right while at work and had to come home to work from bed; oh, and i stumped my toe what you got?

weighed myself today...i've put on abot 15-17kg! how is that even possible given i'm still wearing size 12 stuff??? (okay i wear a belly belt with the pants, but still if it weren't for my belly i'd look like maybe i'd put on 5kg). I"m dreading having to get rid of the weight afterwards. I blame the spinach and feta rolls from the local patisserie. they taunt me every day and they just know i'm weak. oh and the chocolate bars that jump into my mouth and attack me

can't wait til the kid is out and i can go for my 8/10km runs again!

hi to all the lovelies stalking and reading. mwah! (that was supposed to be a kiss sound lol)

Ohhhhhh Grub... you have those killer-chocolate-bars too??? They keep talking to me! I swear they do! And they follow me around the supermarket saying "eat me!" Yes really!

Oh and I have developed a fondness for creaming soda for some reason... bad I know... haven't had it since I was a little kidlet but sooo delicious!

Oh and ladies I discovered a new type of "heaven", almost as good as sex, french toast topped with bananas and drowned, I mean drizzled, with maple syrup... YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! (hmmm wondering why they don't have an emoticon here on a preggy site for "stuffing your face" ???)

Ok all this food talk I'm hungry now, off to make some afternoon tea!

to everyone else, hope you're all away nicely! BBL for persies.

1st day or last period, Transfer Or EPU?

I am so annoyed at my clinic - I was told I was 4 weeks last Monday.

The 1st day of my last period was the 13th of August, EPU was the 28th of august and transfer was the 31st of august.

NOW.. this is where it gets confusing, I think that I am 5 weeks 4 days today - using the 1st day of my last period.

The nurse at the clinic says they use the day of transfer or "conception date" which means I am 5 weeks exactly today and due on the 24th of May not the 20th of May!

Do they use this date because they know exactly when conception is???

How does your clinic pick your date??

    Hello everyone,
it's going to take me a few posts just to keep up and catch up but a few very important ones for now.

Dr.Beee - so sorry to hear it wasn't to be this time around. You have the right attitude that it was good to know that you could get there without intervention. I know that we'd never have got anywhere without IVF and accupuncture. goodluck with getting back on giving yourself time to heal.

I'm never going to be able to find who it was I meant to reply to last week! So much has happened since then and right then, I think we found out about TwoMums' baby arriving - blew my mind! So, I just wanted to add to Poppyfairy's advice re not feeling pregnant. All that stuff about the fertility/specialist roundabout that we are on for years before we even arrive at being pregnant, all those lovely internal scans (not) and operations. Then we get our BFPs and some of us don't even get morning sickness to keep us company and after the compulsory scans are over, there's just no more. I have felt very alone out there wishing I could have more scans. I can't even request 3ds or 4ds just for the fun of it like some can cos we don't have the facilities for 4d outside of Bris. That sucks. I was also a late kicker so didn't feel much for quite a long time. Just listen to your body, there will be signs and soon enough you might even feel sick...oh joy!

Jennnnnn!!!! You kept me in suspenders, I was beyond starting to get anxious. Phew, I'm so happy that no news has been the best news. Congratulations!!!It must be an omen that you posted today cos today at the docs there was a lady with two little boys, Lachlan and Hamish! Too funny. so happy to hear you and your little ones are safe and sound, bonding and doing all that wonderful stuff that so terrifies me at the moment.

KellyD - can you remind me why you are going the c-section route (if it's not too personal)? I am lining up for a chinese moxa (accupuncture) to help turn Jasmine right way round and if all else fails, it will be the big C for me too and I have to tell you this whole birth bit is starting to do my head in. Each week just seems to flip past like one of those desk top calendars and I aint liking it at the moment. I thought I'd be more comfortable this far along, but nup! Not long now and we will have these little parasites clinging to our breasts....and filling our lovely cute cloth nappies with yucky stuff...

Ahh but I digress..congrats on your footy win KellyD! Commiserations Miss M. the Cats I can identify with as I spent some fun highschool years at good old Geelong High.

More later and that's a threat. xoxo

Krikkit: You will find that the f/s clinic will always use the date of transfer (depending on day of embryo) to calculate your due date because from that they know exactly how old the bubba is. With this pregnancy my transfer was something like 21 days into my cycle (day 3 embryo) so they calculated conception date as being day 18 of my cycle. So if you had you transfer further into your cycle, then you will be a couple of days less than if you use the LMP date.

Murph: No problems about telling why we are going the c/s option. This is primarly due to a medical condition I have relating to my bladder called Interstitial Cystitis. I used to suffer from continual UTI's (like 3 out of every 4 weeks) and was officially diagnosed with my condition 4 years ago. I have had bladder surgery to help with the problem, but as I was basically suffering since the age of 18 without being diagnosed I now have a bladder that is damaged ie: your bladder is a flexible muscle that expands as it fills and contracts when emptying and generally holds up to 500ml, my bladder is so damaged that it is a rigid object and can only hold a maximum of 250ml. As the condition is underdiagnosed there is no literature to show how childbirth can affect the condition, but due to the damage I already have we are taking the more controlled option of having the c/s (which I know has it's own risks) instead of going through a v/b and having possible damage to my bladder which is uncontrolled. As I have said to my dr, I know the baby has to come out some way, but if my bladder gets damaged in the process then that is a lifelong problem I have to deal with, so he has agreed that due to the unknown factor it is better to know where we will stand instead of taking a chance.

Conception date would be the best way to go, as some ppl ovulate early or late after their period, but transfer is ALWAYS 3 or 5 days (depending on what type you had) past conception date, conception date being your EPU.

I had an FET, and that was 5 days after my ovulation date so my clinic uses that one.

But don't put too much emphasis on it, each time you go for a scan you can be given different dates too. Just go off your conception date since that's the only concrete date you have At the end of the day your little bubba is going to come whenever he or she is ready, regardless of what date you give it!

Hi all, have officially lost it with this pregnancy. Got a phone call from Campbells day care. He has been in contact with slap check. So we are off to the doctor to get checked out. What else could possibly go wrong. It is more than likely that I am immune to it as I am a teacher and have been in contact with every virus under the sun but as it can cause early labour and misscarrige off we go to get checked out.

Sorry for no personals, I am just struggling to cope at the moment.
