Amy, what great news! And you get to see bub again next week, too! Piccies mandatory for that scan (and also for you too, Sush).
Mel/Sush, I have been letting the house go to rack and ruin for some time..I look forward to having a proper excuse to be so slovenly! As we have moved to Bris and have no family/friends here, we get visitors rarely...:gossip: I only clean the house for the visitors!
You poor girls, getting bad m/s. I now realise that I was one of those sickening lucky women who don't get m/s or symptoms (after all those weeks of tortuous worry I figure it's my turn to gloat a bit hee hee).
-
YAY Amy I am glad that you got to see your little one!!!
-
Yay Amy!!!!! So glad to hear that everything is fine!!!!!
Mel, Huh! You should see the state of my home! Sush, can totally relate to DH being run ragged by the kids and trying to keep the house too. I'm pretty lucky, he puts in a stellar effort but it gets to him and me when the kids are over the top and lazy with their chores just because I'm tired!!!
Just thought I'd let you all know that I think I have my wayward antenatal care back on track, after much crying , wailing and gnashing of teeth, a scan of Bean and Sprout and a lot of reassurance, I'm feeling quite light and breezy, with stress levels at an all time low for this little (large) preggy lady!!
-
Amy - what great news \:D/ I'm so pleased that all is well!
Mel - Yep Sarma was a handsome chap. I heard a rumour the other night that there may be some kitten pics in a couple of days and we have a EDD for them as well LOL!
sush - My termite man insisted that I went away....he wanted to be safe and sure. He is a very nice man, comes out from Chirnside Park in Melb, whereever that is to the country.
Tif - Glad that everything is back on track!
Housework?? Yes the place goes to rack and ruin for several months after a baby comes along. I think from memory I just did the very basics. I did promise myself that next time we would get a cleaner in for a few months.......don't think thats what is going to happen. Atm, I have to do everything that I want done in the morning as I'm far too tired in the afternoon, and just slob about and play with Jack.
-
Just popping by to check that all is well with Amy's wee bundle - and WOOHOO, sounds as though he/she is coming along very well!
Gee I miss you guys....

Hi there, I haven’t posted in here for a while but with good reason!.....take a seat......my baby has arrived!
(I have just copied from the Birth announcements rather than re-write:)
On Friday night (19.8.05) I went into an early labour and gave birth to our beautiful daughter on Sunday 21.8.05 at 7.25 am via emergency c-section.
Kyla Maree Kathryn was born at 28 weeks and 6 days and weighed 1.445kg (3lb 1oz).
It was a pretty scary experience. I started spotting on Friday night (19.8.05) and was cramping all night. Sat morning I discovered that I was bleeding quite heavily and so went into knox private where they gave me some medication in an attempt to stop contractions. Unfortunately this didn’t work, so I was sent via ambulance to the Royal womens.
I laboured all through Saturday and after ultra sound and profuse bleeding they discovered that I had a low lying placenta that had abrupted. I was 8 cm dilated but bubs couldn’t get out as the placenta was in the way. For some reason, I had never been alerted about the placenta and the doctor was also not advised. Had he tried to break my waters our little girl would have died. Luckily he decided to do an emergency c-section as my blood pressure was only 90/60 - I was put under general anesthetic and it took only a few minutes for Kyla to arrive.
She was sent straight to NICU but is doing really well. She is off C pap and should be on full feeds tonight at 12pm. She’s a beautiful little trooper.
So to you girls with NICU babies – I’m sure I’ll be speaking with you soon!
-
Carrie ~ Congrats on the scary but safe arrival of your daughter hope you are both doing well you will be in my prayers [-o<
-
Carrie,
Congratulations on the birth of your beautiful little girl, Kyla!
Hope you are both doing ok.
-
Carrie, firstly a huge CONGRATS on having a gorgeous daughter! Wow, that must have been very scary for you, thank goodness your doc found out about the placenta before disaster struck. Funny that it wasn't picked up before. How fantastic for you!! It feels like just yesterday that you announced your BFP after your very first IVF attempt.
:happy4u:
-
Carrie - WOW!! Congrats on the arrival of your little girl! Must have been a very scarey time for you! Glad to hear that you are doing ok, please keep us all informed.
My dad was born three months early and only weighed 3 lbs, that was over 60 years ago!
-
Wow Carrie, that is fantastic! CONGRATULATIONS!
-
Carrie,
Congratulations! I'm shocked and very happy for you that the little one is hanging in there. She must really be a toughie. Thinking of you all in the days ahead. I hope she goes from strength to strength.
Love,
Mel
-
Carrie, big congrats to you on the birth of your beautiful daughter.
I'm sure all will be well.
My DD was born at 33 weeks, weighing 1.53kg (3,6) and here she is colouring next to me as I write.
It's a bit hairy but they are real troopers.
-
Tam - that's good news about your little girl. I didn't know she had also been premature. It is truly amazing how well those little ones do these days ... the special care units are fantastic.
My little brother was premature (this was 30 years ago) due to placental insufficiency so was 4lbs at birth. I posted his story once in the prem babies forum. You wouldn't know it to look at him today.
Hope all you ladies are going along nicely. I'm having some V8 juice at the moment and it's going down a treat. I think I've found something I like.
Talk to you all during the week.
Love,
Mel

Thanks everyone for your congrats. It's always so reassuring to hear other stories of prems that have done really well. The NICU is covered with photos and stories. Kyla was born a really good weight for her gestation and I can't stop thanking God that we have been so lucky. She came off her drip last night and is now having only mummies milk (fed through an oral tube). I went in today and they had dressed her for the first time in a cute little dress with a frill on the bottom - it looked like a doll's dress. Also I got to do a Kangaroo cuddle (skin to skin contact cuddle) and changed her nappy for the first time. So it was a great day.
I hate leaving her though!!
Hope everyone else is well.
-
Carrie - OMG I am in shock but happy for you all at the same time. I am glad that she is strong.
-
Congratulations Carrie on the surprise arrival of Kyla. She sounds like a brave little fighter! My ex-SIL has her DD at 29 weeks and her DD is now 11 and taller than my 11yo!

Cant wait to see piccies of Kyla, Carrie. So glad you got the chance for a kanga-cuddle, bet you just about fell to pieces! Sounds as though she is a real champ of a bubs.
-
Hi everyone
Do you mind if I pull up a pew & join you? It doesn't seem real but we got the official BFP today (I keep crying when I write that - what a sook).
Already I have a question! How do I work out how far along I am? I had 2 x 8 cell embies transferred on the 13/8. I got 2 different stories from 2 different nurses today. One nurse said 4 weeks, another said 6.
Hope you're all doing well.
Cheers
-
Blue YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!
The nurses told me it is from the date of your last menstrual period, so count the first day of that full bleeding as day one. From there, you can work out how many weeks you are.
We seem to be a month behind each other. My transfer was 13/07 (LMP 24/06) and my due date is 04/04 if that is any help to you.
So exciting to see people moving over here all the time. Keen, I'm keeping that seat warm!
I go to meet my obstetrician today. It all still seems slightly unreal to me still so be prepared for this Blue!
-
Blue, a huge WELCOME and CONGRATS to you! Yay!
Well, I looked up my preg book for you, seems if you had 8 cells put back on the 13th, then the "official" LMP for you was 28 July so I think your EDD is 4 May.
Trish, I hope you're joining us tomorrow! :luck:
-
Blue we had transfer the same day and my clinic has told me my EDD is 04/05/06 ( i love writing that ) so i would imagine it is the same
-
Hey Carrie - you need to change your ticker now ;)
Blue & Shazz, would you like your details added?
-
WELCOME AND CONGRATULATIONS!!!!
BLUE and SHAZZ!!!
-
WOW!! What a great way to start the day! Fabulous news Blue & Shazz, it's brilliant to have you both in here now!! Yay I look forward to sharing the next 8 months with you.
Carrie - Wow! Congratulations to you, what a scary yet amazing time for you. Sounds like you have a wonderful wee girl - I am so stoked for you and your DH. She will only go from strength to strength.
Well we had our NT scan today, I have posted the new scan picture on my www for you. Baby looks a little alien but a very cute alien!! We could still see the foetal pole from our second little embie, it actually made me quite sad however the important thing is that bubs is growing and everything is perfect.
Can't wait to hear how you got on Sush and Keen with your appt today.
Take care everyone!
-
AWWWW Amy,
What a cute pic of your little alien!!!!!
Congrats and so glad that everything is going well for you.
I can understand your sadness over your other little bub. Hang in there, this bub will always have a twin, you know that and it will be a very special part of you forever.
-
I just wanted to pop in and say
"CONGRATULATIONS" to Blue you clever girl.

Shazz, a big welcome to you, too!
Amy, your alien is very cute indeed! That is quite a clear pic of her (yes, still getting girl vibes from you).
Fingers crossed Sush that your scan went very well too.

Hello girls,
Blue and Shazz, welcome and congratulations again! I know it's still new and uncertain for the two of you, but trust me, the newness and uncertianty never really wears off, so jump in with both feet!
Well, my scan went really well. The little'un (and there is only 1 little'un) is the right measurement for the dates, and despite being a bit shy - helped by mum not having a full enough bladder - Dr and DH were able to see the heartbeat beating strongly even if it wasn't for long enough to count the bpm.
Dr wasn't concerned though. He was happy with everything else. He said the hb was nice and strong, and my vitals are within normal ranges. He has booked me in for my screening BT at 10 weeks, my Nuchal Fold (?) scan at 12 weeks, and then another scan at 19 weeks. Only after both scans will I see him again.
So I guess everything is fine. Can't wipe the smile off my face. Will work on getting the scan pics up tonight!

\:D/ I'm glad everything went so well sushee =D>
i got my bloods back today HCG 828 so it has calmed me a little roll on scan day
-
Congrats to Shazz and blue for their progression to this thread. how exciting for you both.
BIG congrats to Carrie on the early arrival of your little girl. Wow! Bet you didn't have stuff organised hey? I was nearly caught out when I went into hospital with pre-eclampsia at 35 weeks - you never think that you are going to run out of time.
Big waves to all my cohorts in here (sush, sal, nz girl, melbo, jo etc etc). I miss you guys and really should venture around the site more often, but still trying to do all I can with the 15 minute grabs of time i find myself with. It is all I can do to keep updated in the baby thread and the breastfeeding thread. Anyway, how you are all keeping well. I can't believe that my little man will be 8 weeks old tomorrow. WOW. Where does the time go?????
Hi to all
Hayseed
-
Yay, Sush!
Glad everything went well.
perhaps I don't belong in here either, I really feel like I am posting to myself most of the time.
-
Tiff,
You doubly belong here! Lol! I can't believe you're 17 weeks already!
It is quiet in here sometimes. I find myself still trawling the LTTTC forum as there is so much happening there. I am findling it hard to post from work, though, but cannot resist! BB addiction is in full force now.

Thanks Sush!
Sometimes feel a bit out of place because my time in LTTTC was quite short, really. Often feel a bit out of the loop. SO thanks.
-
Hi girls
Thanks so much for your warm welcome! My head is still spinning – cant seem to be able to concentrate on anything, keep thinking “OMG I’m pregnant!â€
Thanks Mel, Shaz and Sal for your advice on the dates. If I go by my LMP my EDD is 01/05/06. But I do like the sound of 04/05/06!! Kinda just rolls off the tongue!! I’m just so clueless – I’m not sure what happens now.. just waiting on the letter from MIVF.
Sushee & Amy – glad to hear that your scans went well! It must be such an amazing experience.
Mel – how did your appointment go?
Carrie – sounds like your littleun is thriving. Best wishes to you both!
Sorry – I have another question: how long did you wait until you told family? My brother has just had his first child (actually, I had my transfer on the same date as she was born) and I don’t want to steal his thunder, but on the other hand I don’t want them to think I was holding out on them.
Cheers,
Blue
:bluestick:
-
Yay Shazz that your HCG levels are right on track!
Blue, you need a ticker!
I can't answer your question but it has to be right for you. I don't think you will steal your brother's thunder if you tell them now but you need to feel comfortable and confident when you do tell them, so you can bask in the happiness and not have to worry too much about hurting others!!! Good luck. I'm sure everyone will be thrilled for you!
-
Thanks Tiggy - I think you're right. I might sound out Dad on father's day. Will get to work on that ticker too. I think I'll even celebrate by signing up to become a BB member!!
cheers,
-
OMG guys when I look at your tickers and see just how far along each of you are, I can hardly believe it! It is so amazing and we will have so many bubs from here - I just cant wait! \:D/
By the way Blue - with regards to EDD, I checked with my clinic last cycle and they said that it should generally be from first day of last AF, however in your case (as was in my case) pickup did not occur 14 days after that. So instead you go 14 days prior to OPU - use that date as your last period start date and calculate from then..... so there, bet that is clear as mud!
-
Yay Blue & Shazz \:D/ hope you like your new thread!
Yay Amy on your scan, hugs to make you feel better!
Yay Such on another great scan!
Such good news from everyone!
I will put a spanner in the works regarding the EDD. Apparently you do not go from LMP with a FET, for instances, my doctor worked it out as my LMP was 26th May, to get this due date, (2-3-06) Going by my LMP (in real time) which was on 20th May, my EDD will be the 24-2-05. Yep like Keen, clean as mud! I guess as some stage of next year I will be going into labour LOL!
Blue - I guess, you could tell people once you felt comfortable doing so. My parents knew early as they had to babysit Jack a lot of the time for OPUs, scans etc etc. I will be telling my brother and SIL this weekend as I cannot really hide the bump any longer. A few friends also knew early as they are IVF-ers as well.Anyone else will know as and when.
Tif - What do you mean, you don't belong??? Silly moo, of course you belong ( and I mean this in the nicest possible way :) ) It doesn't matter how long you were in the thread or how many cycles of treatment you had, no competition, you were in the LTTTC thread and now you belong here as well :)
I THINK i might have felt a little flutter from Twin B today..........................Tif, have you felt any movements? And how early were they? Or am I just dreaming?
