I hope that everyone is doing well and that Santa was kind to us all...esp as we all have had to be good girls and stay away from the yummy food and wine

Possums - hope that the spotting has stopped and all is ok.

Miss C - sounds like you are settling into family life quickly - congrats!

Scooby - hope that you find a way to drop the GDT and BP. maybe some xmas relaxing will help do the trick!

Nicole S - you have scared me with the fruit - I live on fruit esp over summer - why do you have to cut it back???? Glad that your OB appointment went well and cant wait to hear about the 19 week scan.

On tra_k - glad that all is back to normal and you can look forward to a new cycle soon - good luck and wishing that one of those frosties is a sticky one!

HM - whatever get you through! glad that you are feeling a little more relaxed - gosh our minds can play tricks on us some times.

To everyone that I've missed - hope that all is well and that you are enjoying this festive season with bubs on board!

AFM - DH and I had xmas together yesterday - no family - lovely! We spent the day finishing off my bird avaries and moving them all in - all 100 of them! (their xmas present 12 months in the making), and then DH cooked a great xmas dinner. So nice to relax. Starting researching baby stuff, and caught DH looking up baby names on the web!

afm- doing OK....am currently on the computer at 3am though as I can't sleep ....a bit worried about the brown spotting ..but it appears to be stopping...hardly anything yesterday (only when I wipe really...sorry if TMI)....I guess Monday's BT will at least give me an indication is HCG levels are on track rising as they should be....

Oh Possums sweetie the brown blood is worring sweet but as long as it is brown it is more than a few days old and needs to come out. I know it is easy for others to say and until you see bubba you will not be sure

hi girls - thank you all so much for your warm welcomes. I never thought anything could be more stressful than IVF / TWW waiting...but I've been proven wrong. I'm tearing my hair out with worry - and I have just hit the 5 week mark today.

Possums - I was so glad to see your post. I'm also having a bit of brown discharge (sorry TMI from me too!). I'm finding it is still more "normal" coloured than brown, but there's definitely brown in it - which is freaking me out. It is just like what I get before AF...praying everything is ok in there. I'm actually going to get another BT to ask them to check my HCG levels again (paranoid I know...).

Tigger - thanks for your assurances. That certainly sounds right and am hoping that's the case for me too.

I'd welcome anyone elses thoughts on spotting / discharge at this early stage in pregnancy.

Miss_C - congratulations on Emily, what a beautiful name

Possums and Mel - I had brown spotting on and off from about 5 weeks to 8 weeks. I had a BT done at 5 weeks as I was very freaked out and it was all normal. My nurses and FS and then OB all told me the same thing, if it is brown and not heavy, it is probably okay. They said to call them if it was red and 'active' meaning that it was greater than a 50c piece and come out not just when you wipe (sorry for TMI). I never had anything apart from from some brownish to pinkish and never active. One the 6 week scan it showed a blood vessel that had gotten to big and they think that was the source. I know how nerve wracking it can be - I felt much better after calling my clinic and having the levels checked again.

M2C and Dusty - hope you are well and bubs are hanging on tight.

Bel, Kahlan - haven't seen you post in a while, hope that you are both healthy and happy.

AFM - have announced our news to everyone and am feeling a bit shell shocked by it all ! MS has been on / off in the last few days so hoping that means it is starting to slow down.

Question for you lovely ladies- when do you start to show? I guess with MS going away, 'showing' is the next major PG symptom to watch out for - did you just wake up one morning and be able to tell that you had 'popped'?

mel- I have been tearing my hair out with worry too!!! When I had my ectopic I had brown spotting (although further along than this and I did start to get pain), therefore it brings back scary memories for me... even though I have read many sites which say brown spotting is usually OK... so I just hope that's the case for you and me...a bit of harmless spotting early on

LNB- thanks for sharing your story..it is comforting to know that brown spotting can be ok

I am just really really scared about having another ectopic.
BT monday...hoping this time my HCG levels are rising properly ...this pregnancy business is stressful!

LNB, I noticed at around 19w I was finally looking pregnant and again this week at 24w I feel like I have popped out again. Feeling huge right now!

At 15 weeks there was a bump there but more obvious by 19 weeks LNB but at 12 weeks pants were getting a bit tight but I had overflow swelling from IVF Stims

Possums - thanks so much. I had a look at that other thread and it was v useful.

Well today I went to get BT results for blood group - turns out I'm a negative blood group. So because of that, and the slight spotting, GP told me to go to the hospital for an "anti-D" injection. Anyway, the hospital also checked out the d/chge and confirmed it was nothing to worry about. They also did another HCG check and levels were over 5100 (yay!). Anyway, I've chilled out now...Possums - sounds absolutely like a bit of brown is ok at this stage. Good luck with your BT on Monday.

TL and Megan - I'll be very much looking forward to "showing" ...in about another 10 weeks!

Hey girls...
I am no expert other than for being pg and doing my own research..so i hope this helps.

Showing- Apparently the general guideline is around 17 weeks..give or take a couple as everyone is different. Although i must say i am at 12 weeks now and when i get bloated...I GET BLOATED, i can definitely tell there is more mass there. I can't wait to show either...but trying not to rush myself. A friend of mine was at 15weeks like TL.

Spotting etc- I will quote an earlier post of mine about a show i saw here in the UK...(Let me find it) "Oh just remember...saw this show on BBC1 the other night that was so so interesting. Did you know that human mammals have the most intrusive, destructive, and parasitic placentas in the animal kingdom. It is just incredible what that placenta will do for a good food source and life line for our babies. The show was about the 'war' that the mothers body and growing baby will go through to each survive the process of pregnancy and birth. I don't like the word war but it is how they explained it. That placenta eats into the side of your womb with vengeance and destruction to get what it needs and to the extent that it likes to be swimming in rich blood. So it will damage the wall to get a good pool of blood to sit in and grow with." It will go to all lengths to get a good food source so it is no wonder that a lot of woman experience bleeding of all different colours and sorts. Sometimes the 'pool' of blood can be released straight away and sometimes after a period of time...or not at all and is just absorbed over time. This is different to implantation. The placenta grows after implantation. It is no wonder so many woman experience a stressful time around this time. Learn as much as you can about what you body is going through and there may be some comfort there. I use a website from an organisation called The endowment for human development. It is great with little videos of what is happening when.

All ladies, hope you are doing well.

AFM...Christmas knocked me off my feet and yesterday i found myself, headached and resting all day. Boy i have noticed that in Pg i get a little written off sometimes. Today i will try and potter around to clean up a bit. Even though MS was pretty much gone...i got hit a bit with it last night, i think maybe cause i was tired. Feeling better today but a little fragile still. Time for some scrambles and mushrooms.
