Woo Hoo Possum, that is great news![]()
Relax and take care of yourself and your Christmas Bub....
Possums - at 19DPO my levels were actually a LOT lower than yours - from what i can gather, my first BT is at what should have been 15dpo, result was 26. six days later it was on 270 (so 21DPO) - as much as the lower numbers worried me a little, they DID grow and that's the important bit. and the little gremlin kicking my internal organs at the moment shows that the actual number isn't the drama - it's the pattern of growth! as long as they are increasing every 24-72 hours (generally 24-48 hours is the "norm") you're on track. your concerns are more than understandable given your history though!
as to care - maybe talk to your middie about shared care options. i seen a GP up until 15 weeks, and won't see the OB again until 23-24 weeks - essentially, unless something happens that they deem me higher risk, i will see the GP for every second visit. i guess maybe later in the piece it might be more frequent with the Ob, but for now, it's pretty relaxed! we don't have the option of private hospital care either, so we're just going with the flow....

Hi Ladies -
Mon - great to hear from you and that things are going well. I hope the MS ends for you soon. I almost facing the nothing fits crisis - just glad that baby doll dresses are in style and they fit in extra bb's and bloated tummies !
Possums - glad to hear your levels are so good and the spotting has stopped
Bel - hope you are doing okay - haven't heard from you in a while
TL - thanks for the advice on tummy growth, I keep checking every day so I'll know when it looks different - the crazy things we do
Dusty, Mel, M2C - hope you are doing okay, sending you lots of belly rubs
HM, BG, Janie, Nicole and everyone else (so many of us to keep up with) hope everyone is well and belly rubs to everyone.
AFM - MS is getting less but has been replaced by teariness, I cried watching re-runs of Friends yesterday...My moods have been very stable since the end stim cycle but now they are all over the place. Good thing DH is still in the states !
Take care everyone,
LNB
Possums...you are doing so well, thinking of you hun...those levels seem fab to me.
Mon...it's your VENA CAVA love!! LOL. I big veins that return blood to the Heart to be pumped through and oxygenated again. They are big fattys of veins and about an inch wide. The uterus and baby can put too much pressure on them and hinder the flow when you are lying on your back especially...therefore your total circulation. I have read that even just propping a pillow up under one side to tilt you a little is better than lying on your back altogether. But you intuition will tell you when you need to change or if you are lying right.
AFM- Doing well. Made my appointment today for the Midwife Booking...where she takes all my history. I have to go on the 7th of Jan for that one. The admin lady just wouldn't listen to me about me not wanting to have a 12 week scan. She insisted on booking one for me. I will just have to cancel it. I hope and wish for a midwife that will understand and support my desire to have as little intervention and intrusion as possible. This other woman treated me like i was being so irresponsible for my child...there is nothing they can tell me with a nuchal scan that will change our minds or be conclusive anyway. What would she say if we weren't to have any scans at all. That might shock the pants off her. Oh lordy...you know i want to be able to say that i am being met with support and understanding and not have this expectation that i will have a fight on my hands. I just know our baby is ok. There was a time when all the scans weren't such routine and now they depend on them...don't get me wrong there is a real place for technology, plenty of gorgeous women in here would not have their bundles of joy if it weren't for technology. But it should be personal choice and not routine...if all is going well.
Off my soap box now, grrrr. I am sure it will all go well. Have faith HM!!
Love HM...hugs and rubs to you all.
xoxo
Possums - great news on the levels! Congrats!!
BG- thanks for the info and knowing why I am fussing
Megan- thanks also to you for your understanding
HM- i can understand your frustration- you are within your rights to make your own personal choices and not be pressured. Society and our culture certainly does now have a programmed set of expectations about the way things should be done
LNB- I hope those emotions settle foryou...i cried the other night over nothing much myself!
afm- feeling more calm today. I think I was so anxious all last week with the spotting, and imagining having an ectopic and back into hospital etc...and then yesterday's results were a really encouraging sign. My nurse said I need to try and relax now as best I can and take it one day at a time..so that's what I am going to do![]()
Hi all, hope that everyone is well and happy![]()
Possums - your hcg levels are great - well done! Re progesterone - they are not like the hcg levels where they need to increase, as you have been told, as long as they stay above 30 they are fine. From what I understand they tend to fluctuate naturally and that change is nothing to worry about - mine went from 180ish to 160ish and there was nothing to worry about.
AFM - not much time for personals - sorry, but got to do some work (even thought I'm on holidays!). Feeling good - little bit of nausea but nothing too bad, and just feeling tired - but that could be the end of the year! Noticed that my belly and BB's are getting a little bigger which has me worried - I thought that was meant to take some time, and am worried about what I'll look like by 12 weeks- despite good intentions of not gainint too much weight too quickly - I think I'm going to look like a bit of heifer soon! Oh well - all for a good cause!
Wishing everyone well and will try and pop back in over the next few days for personals!
FG
FG - i'd gone up two cup sizes by 13 weeks! it's not unusual to grow bigger - apparently it usually happens later in the piece, but for some of us....
Hey FG. re the weight thing....I felt like I was a heffer - esp. in that first 3 months. Still have my days now where I feel like a balloon, but I guess that is the way it goes.
I gained something like 3kgs between week 4 and 10 and then slowed right down so that it has averaged out over the 20 weeks to be around 250gms a week or 1kg per month.
People say not to worry about it, but for me it's more about keeping an eye on myself (I'm terrible at letting go when it comes to food - I'll eat anything and everything if it is good food - mostly savoury, but since the pregnancy sweet is much higher on my agenda). I want to try and avoid GD and stay within a healthy weight gain.
So far, so good. My ob said that I have been doing really well and not gaining too much, but also gaining enough to be healthy for me and the bub.
I got my friend to email me her weight gain over her 2 pregnancies so I had something to guage my own weight by - very helpful.
FG - thanks for sharing that info and hope you are well
Nixon- hope you are feeling Ok
re the weight thing...when I was pregnant before I had such a bloated belly from early on, it was like an instant bump...I am waiting for that to happen again.. my boobs haven't changed much yet..my DH (who checks on them daily, in a jokey way) tells me they looked 'slightler fuller' today...i think he is waiting for them to grow...I am usually tiny!
i guess the main thing is to just keeo an eye on weight gain but not go overboard monitoring (have done that before with food and body image at the best of times, and don't want to go there again)
Hi Possums - am good except for a cold I got Christmas eve morning. Heading to Byron on Sunday for a week - Can't wait!!!!
Hope you are doing good too. You sound pretty chilled this week.
x
nic- as of today have calmed down after being a nervous wreck last week...lol
hope that cold leaves you soon and enjoy byron! it's so beautiful here today, in Port Macquarie..too bad I am at work!
HI Everyone,
Well it's all happening in here - Go Possums, I love it when someone going through IVF pulls off a natural pregnancy, wishing you the best at this time and can appreciate how daunting the first trimester may be for you after all you have experienced. Positive thoughts and strength to you as you go through this period. BTW CONGRATULATIONS
Wow TL I can't beleive the journey has come this far, it felt like yesterday we were awaiting that BFP. Hoping you are travelling along well.
There are also a few more twin pregnancies I see - congrats to all of you
AFM: We found out we are having two girls at wk19 ultrasound. DH was slightly disappointed no boys in the line up, however soon overcome that when reflecting on being a dad to two little girls and now is looking forward. We have names picked out finally after wrestling with a mountain of names we have finally settled on Lily and Emma.
Does anyone else have people saying "oh you're not big enough" or the opposite "you're huge", I constantly have people giving me their opinion on how big they think I should be - seems everyone is a health expert!! My MIL keeps saying "watch how much you eat" she thinks I am putting on too much weight. However I used to weight only 48kgs and I am now 58kgs with twins, I think that is fine and I am happy about the weight I have put on. I wish people would **** off with their stupid comments!!
Anyway I just wanted to get back into the thread - hope everyone isand well. HAPPY NEW YEARS - we all have something to look forward to this year!
Best Wishes Queenh
hi queenh- glad all is going so well!! just ignore other people's comments...everyone has something to add and it usually isnt welcome... it's the same when TTC as you no doubt know...I don't know how many people told to 'just relax'!
Your weight gain is fine and as long as you feel healthy and comfortable
and how exciting! two little princesses on the way... congratulations! lovely names too (not that I am biased or anything, being an Emma myself
)
queenh, happy to hear everything is going smoothly and congrats on two little girls!
I completely agree - everyone is an expert when it comes to your pregnancy... how big you are, weight gain/loss, what you put in your mouth, what you don't put in your mouth. The list goes on.
Your weight gain sounds perfectly normal to me for someone carrying one baby and you're growing two! As long as you are happy and healthy that's all that matters.![]()
Hi Everyone
WOW its been a while since I was last on and so much has happened!
Queenh - wow 2 girls, how perfect. And you have chosen such beautiful names! Congratulations. As much as men think they want a son their hearts melt over their girls, your husband will love it!
Congratulations to all the new pregnant ladies,I hope you have a perfect pregnancy and baby at the end of the 9 months.
Most of all I want to congratulation Possums! Possums I have been following you for a while as we were going through treatment at very similar times and I was so sorry when you had the ectopic. Congratilations on the natural miracle, that is the best xmas present anyone would ask for. I was so excited to read about your news!
I wont even bother with personals as I have read so many pages to get up to date and my mind is all scrambled now.
A few topics come to mind though..
...eating too much fruit? I have never been told to cut down on fruit in my 1st pregnancy or this one. I guess if you have a sugar issue then yes you need to stay away otherwise my OB has not told me to watch the amount I eat
...Weight gain! Haha funny topic. I think some people no matter how hard they try tend to gain weight quickly in pregnancy. I did with my 1st approx 20 kg and am with this one too. A little slower this time and hopefully not 20 thoughGood thing is if you try hard enough it should all come off in the end. Most of mine did and I was lazy with the last couple b/c it didnt bother me too much. Just eat healthy is the key, and dont stress. My OB told me not to obsess too m uch about it.
...when do you show? I think if you are thinner you show sooner or it becomes more obvious sooner. I am normal sort of weight and 1st time about 18 weeks you could really say I was pg, this time, I think 15-16 weeks and I looked pg. Ofcourse I had that buldging stomach from very early on, esp b/c I tended to gain the first few kilos quickly.
This time I was in maternity clothes not long after my 1st trimester whereas 1st time around I was in most of my normal clothes until 18 weeks. Each pregnancy is different, dont worry too much about it. One of my friends only started showing after her 5th month and still had a 3.5 kg baby.
AFM all seems to be tracking well. I am feeling baby kicks now. Have been feeling movement for a little while but started feel actual kicks at 17 weeks. Not hard enough to feel externally but very nice and reassuring. Its a beautful feeling when you are so tired and bored at work and want to go home and all of the sudden you feel a kick. Wakes me up and makes me smile!
Anyway, Happy New Year to everyone, try not to party too hard on your new years eve celebrationsPersonally I have no idea how I will make it to midnight!
this is definitely something that applies more to those with sugar issues - but the best kind of diet for anyone to avoid the low BSL's that cause morning sickness is a low GI diet - and if you scope out the GI tables, a whole lot of fruit is very high on the GI count - it's all about eating in moderation - if you're going to have something high in sugar (even natural sugar) you need to be prepared for the rebounding low BSL's - or have something that will balance it all out...
Nic- I hear you re the food hun...i love food and have to watch myself sometimes or i can get carried away.
Possums- Thanks for your understanding... and so sorry if my views offended anyone. I think i just want choice. Of course there would be nothing stopping me if i felt it were warranted and the baby was in trouble but i feel so connected and that everything is ok for now. I don't want more to worry about if i can't do anything about it either. It is no good for the bubs or me. This is only relevant to me. Hope you are doing ok now chook. Your nurse gives some great advice...easier said than done i know. But i hope you can keep the calm for as long as you can.
I think i am only just starting to put on some weight now. I lost a few kg in the first tri and just couldn't keep it on no matter how i tried...so it must have been not needed. LOL I hope. I am sure everything is fine i am neither over or under weight and I am happy.
I can feel my uterus to touch now..definitely. I can run my fingers across my belly and move then up towards my belly button to see where it stops. That is nice to feel something. I can put my hand there now and not feel stupid. The fundus is about 4-5 fingers under my belly button.
Just can't shake this headache...so off to the chiro i go. No food in the house and waiting for the car to do a big shop. Driving me a bit crazy but it will all be good soon.
Love and HUgs to you all.
