Pregnancy after Long Term TTC - December 2008

Well OB visit at 24 weeks went well yesterday good heartbeat and tummy was feeling good. (Appts seem to be 5-10 mins hope that is normal)

We moved now I have to unpack but need leave that for awhile as the back is sore from bending over and the OB yelled at Mummy :( for doing too much and told her that Daddy had to do most of it and lift the boxes to a height where I don't have to lean

Christmas Tree goes up tonight!!!!!!

Only have time for a short post - so sorry for the insufficient personals...

M2C - I really hope that all is going ok for you today and that your scan is ok. :hug: and :crossfingers:

Bel - I'm glad that you FS is positive on the outlook for your two precious little ones - it must help you get through this very difficult time. They are fighters though and you are very strong and will get them through.

Rach - welcome and congrats on the numbers moving in the right direction...wishing you a wonderful :bellygrowing:

Miss C - wow you really are getting up to the 'business end' of things. hope all goes well and to plan. good luck.

AFM - busy with work. feeling very tired and lower back is killing me - not helped by driving. starting to feel hungry and a bit ill for very short periods during the day, so hope that is MS, and bb starting to feel a bit sore...so hope that everything is pointing to a heartbeat next week. Wishing I could ask for a BT to check that my levels are rising...but dont want to look too pushy/silly...I guess I will just have to wait.

To everyone that I've missed - which is nearly everyone :wall: hope that all is going well.

Bel, so sorry to hear that there has been even more bleeding. I hope that the bed rest is all it takes to get your precious bundles here safely.

TL, yes, quick appointments like that are VERY normal at this stage. They don't do much more than check blood pressure, quick scan, then discuss test results or send me for more at this stage.

I have my next appointment tomorrow... Looking forward to it, and hoping to get some answers as to when we can get this little Munchkin OUT!

just a quick update, i will be back for personals later

we went in for the scan yesterday and as soon as he put the probe in, you could see the sac which was full of baby :dance: and you could see the little heart beating away.
we feel totally blessed and you cant wipe the smile off our face

we told fs that we wont be back, after the way he treated us there is no way we will be back, he didnt even sound happy when he found the baby in the sac!!! and this is a man that helps women fall pregnant for a living!!! dp wants to put in a complaint about him.

anyway i better go, i want to thank every single one of you for helping me through the last few days, i know it probably sounds silly for me to say this, but i love you all and i truely thank you for all of your help

oh and before we go, our little one has been offically named, we have called it bubba G and its our little fighter, even the doctor gave up on him/her but "bubba G" proved him wrong lol

M2C, what an enormous relief! I guess your amazing little Bubba G is just a slow starter, but it's such an enormous relief to know that you saw a heartbeat today. Don't blame you for ditching the FS - I would too!

TL, I tend to like blunt in my doctors - all my doctors have varying degrees of bluntness, but I know I'm the kind of person who will put her head in the sand and ignore things if my doctor doesn't push things home, so it suits me well.

FG: sorry havent got on much but huge congrats on your BFP what an awesome chrissi present. As for BT they can start doing funny things around this stage and may stress you out more, hang in for that scan im sure it will be all good.
TL: Hope your finding some time to put your feet up and enjoy putting your tree up tonite!
Bel: i am soo sorry you are still having a hard time, its really unfair and i totally get what your saying about finding it hard to relax when your still bleeding. It is such a great thing that your ob is so positive, because they always air on the side of caution and for your 2 little munchkins still to be partying away, its not effecting them, just there poor mum. I really hope your ok, take it easy and know we are all here for you!

To all the wonderful ladies in here big belly rubs hope you are all well.
AFM: nothing exciting to report i have just under 4 weeks till DD makes her appearance which is a little scary to be honest, although im really hoping she'll come on 31st of dec so we can get the baby bonus !! Been having sooo many BH and crampy period like pains so you never know although DS was 2 weeks late and had to be induced. Just enjoying the peace as i know whats ahead in the next few monthes. Anyways chat soon xox

M2C - that is wonderful news! And good on you for standing up for yourselves. I hope you find a lovely OB who will support you through your pregnancy.

TL - my visits are about the same length at the moment. I start going to fortnightly appointments after my 28 week check up on 5th Jan... so excited about being able to see bubs more often!

Bel - I'm so sorry to hear that you have been through yet more stress! It is such wonderful news about how your little one's are going though and I can't believe you are 12 weeks tomorrow! Hooray!!!!!

Hi to FG, BW, Rach, Nixon, Miss C, HM, Chez and all the wonderful ladies that I know I have missed (sorry!)

AFM, well in 3 days I will be down to only 100 days left! That is very exciting. I have also made it past the point that my sister had to deliver her son. Feeling heaps of movements and feel like my belly is getting larger by the day. Checking my belly daily for stretch marks, but so far so good (not that it would be the end of the world if I get them). We went baby shopping on the weekend and put everything that we need on layby at Baby Bunting. Got a great discount and also a VIP discount card for future purchases. I was so exicted about the VIP card - gone are the days when a night club VIP card caused me the same sort of excitment! I guess I really am ready to be a Mummy! So we will pay off the layby over the next 2 months which means we will be able to pick everything up in February. Also have organised to hire baby capsule from the council (sooooo cheap) for 6 months.

So all in all I am starting to feel more and more organised!

not a lot of personals from me today - have a fuzzy head and can't get my head around who is where. i think i read one post three times before it sank in!

had GTT yesterday - ended up having to lay down for nearly an hour - was feeling so damn ill - i'm one of those lucky people that suffers for DAYS after GTT's. have felt like crud ever since - i just can't seem to stabilise myself on the ms front - it's awful - but hopefully we'll not hear from the Ob and i won't have to worry about it for another 10 weeks. i've really noticed that the sugar hit both me and bubs hard - i guess automatically restricting sugar intake myself over so long with the PCOS has paid off

on the gremlin front - i think it will be a looooooooooong time before gremlin is given any form of sugar after it's born - it was going NUTS last night! i've been used to gentle movement, feeling rolls and little kicks - nothing where i've been able to define legs from hands - well, last night, i went to bed (exhausted) thinking we'd crash out - not happening - as soon as i hung up from DH and rolled on my side, i started getting rather hard little kicks - not painful, but enough to distinctly feel two little legs going ballistic - and just when i was starting to smile at how sweet it was, i got a punch a couple of inches away - and that was the pattern for the next hour - lots of little kicks, then a punch a little way away. i couldn't help but smile! was telling DH this morning that it's no wonder pg women are always tired - you have to sleep for two (or so i like to tell him) but when things first get specific like that, you lay awake in amazement - and then after that, the kicks get too hard to sleep through, until you have bub - and then you never sleep again!

m2c- I am so relieved and happy for you...hoooorayyyy!!!!! wow , what relief and joy you must be feeling right now :clap::dance:

Bel- my friend...hang in there....it must be so hard to be vaguely calm with the bleeding...but take heart from those fantastic scan results...wow 12 weeks ...big hugs

Hi BG - sounds like a no sugar policy is definitely the way to go for you and bub! And I love the idea of having to sleep for two :lol: - I can't wait to use that on my DF!

Hi BW - moving house? You poor thing and so late into your pg too. I hope you get lots of help from family and friends to move and you just get to sit on a comfy chair with a clipboard in hand supervising everyone!

AFM - went to the GP yesterday. She was lovely - we can have as much or as little monitoring as we want, she will do whatever we choose, which is nice. We got our b/t results back today. HCG is excellent at 4076, which is what is expected for 41-44days apparently, and we were 36 days. So we're pretty happy about that. We have decided to delay our first scan until after the holidays, so it will be at the 8 week mark to allow Gizmo time to develop so we can see him/her a little better. Our GP has suggested we starting sorting out an ob sooner rather than later as there has been a baby boom here in Canberra apparently. But we have decided to wait until after the scan results, and the same with the next set of b/ts.

Anyway, must go - am STARVING!

M2C- Hun you are a trooper...that is just wonderful news. i am so so pleased for you and good on you for saying you won't go back. What a twit that guy was...seriously he should a parking attendant or something! Ha...sorry to the parking attendants out there. LOL Great news hun, i am thrilled.

Nic- Yeah i think there is a far bit of rivalry between the two camps but to be honest i have seen the course notes for both and they are pretty similar. I just try and stay neutral as they both have such good results and speak to different people...IYKWIM. I will be using a bit from each as well as some cds from Natal Hypnotherapy...they are good too..but a UK thing i think. I am so pleased you got so much out of it.

Bel- Great to have you back hun ...and get to bed...rest and take care. I am so pleased that everything is ok, I hope everything is going to be ok for you.

Scooby- Not long now babe!!!

Thanks BG - I think my spotting is related to DTD :rolleyes: so we are going to abstain until the 12 weeks mark then then decide then. wow, it is great to hear your bub causing havoc... so sorry about the ms though... I know exactly how you feel. Mine is so bad that even when I have eaten sometimes it doesn't help at all and I still throw up.

HM - wow you strong woman. I bow to you. I just had the scan at 10 weeks and I want to see the bub again ;)

oh HM sorry I missed this post. Glad that it is not serious. I was told by my SIL (who is a GP) that if you pass the 10 weeks mark then small spotting should not be a concern because most m/c during the 1st trimester happens between 5-10 weeks.

Kahlan- Oh don't worry we are all still good, just a bit to keep an eye on really. Yeah that is what i am hoping...that we are home and hosed! It was pink is after a No2 sorry TMI...but my cervix is quite low and can get upset sometimes going to the loo. It is the first and only time i have had any blood, but for now i am not worried. Will go back to bed and try and get rid of this cold...which also might be upsetting things.
I am thrilled for you babe that everything is going well...doesn't time fly! Go forth and enjoy that relaxing holiday...what a lovely hubby! See you when you get back hun.

M2C - Fabulous news. So happy that things are A-OK. I DEFINITELY would put in a complaint. What happens if next time he does it to someone who is not as strong as you? I put in a complaint about one of the nurses at the SIVF day surgery section. She stressed me out like you wouldn't believe and then when she realised the mistake (2 nicoles - both with an appointment with Dr Lok one after the other) she told me it was MY fault for not saying my last name clearly enough. She almost got someone elses embryos brought up from the lab for ME!!!! Anyway - that's the whole point of having a complaints process - for quality control and continual improvement.

Just a quick update from me.....

the 19 week scan went really well. The sonographer told us everything she was checking and told us everything was within normal ranges. We ended up with a DVD - part of the dvd was in 3D. It was amazing to see what our baby actually looks like. We still don't know what sex our bubba is, but the sonogrpaher said he a few times at the end, but said 'the baby' the rest of the time.

There was only minor misbehaving and that was when the lady needed to do the heart chamber shots - then I had to get up, wiggle around, cough, go to the loo - all to try and get the little rascal to stop mooning us and roll back over the right way. So....bubba has a new nickname - Rascal

One of the 3d pics has bubba with arms crossed (in the style of "No Deal") which was taken right at the end. Obviously enough was enough.

Anyway - work is hectic and people seem to think that coming up and coughing in your face proves how sick they are - I think my body is finally succumbing to a cold *sigh*

AFM, been a major stress head the last week since our scan last Friday (6w4d) when we saw a lovely gestational and yolk sacs but no fetal pole or heartbeat (same as M2C). I was in shock and dissociated myself from being pg as it was like a nightmare but I am feeling more grounded and more pg these last couple of days while we wait for our next scan 10 days after the last, on Monday in Melbourne before we head to Tassy. I still find it hard to post in pg threads but I am hoping after Monday I will embrace this pg and have questions to ask you all.

Miss C - hoping your little one is either in your arms, or well on the way for you - can't wait for your birth announcement!

everyone else - HI! i'm a bit on the tired side tonight so keeping up with personals is gonna be a bit too much!

AFM - movement is getting more and more noticable since GTT - not sure if it is a result of the GTT still, or whether our little Gremlin has just gotten itself into a better position for mummy to feel it kicking up a storm - tonight, i'm not sure, but i think i even felt it from the outside! it was very faint, and i'm not sure if it was just my imagination cos i could feel it on the inside. whatever it is, i have spent the last few nights smiling LOTS feeling this little bubba squiriming and booting the crap out of mummy!

Dusty...I agree with BG hun...it take a while even when everything is going well as it did for me...i kept thinking what if i lose this baby. But hun like M2C you will get through this and everything is going to be fine. Just do what feels comfortable. We are here for you...ironic as you are always the one here for us. It is time you needed the love and support in return, but hopefully not for long as you will be on top of the moon pretty soon. I am glad you are feeling more pg lately. It will take time.

M2C, so happy for you that you are out of the dark woods and you already sound so much happier.

AFM- Not to worry everyone...i will certainly sound the alarm if i think it is anything to worry about...I think the bleed was from coughing and sneezing...as there has been a lot. Poor bubs is probably being jolted around like there is cyclone in there. I have no spotting today and still resting. Boy this is the worst head cold i have had in a while. My immune system is quite low at the mom being pg and the pressure in my head is huge. Well it will be over soon and i can get back to having fun being pg.

Dusty - I think all of us know what you mean. But like everyone else said - we are here and not going anywhere, so whenever you are ready. We've decided not to find out the gender. It feels like we might be able to claw back a tiny piece of what AC has taken away - at least that's how we feel about it. I was so sure I would want to know, but now I feel like both DH and I will get a really special moment at the birth when DH gets to call out "it's a boy" or "it's a girl". We are settled on names for both and I really feel a super strong bond already. I don't think it would make a difference how I feel whether I knew or not...IYKWIM.

HM - Glad things have calmed down - damn those head colds :-)

M2C - There is a huge weight off your shoulders now and I can really tell. So glad for that and also that it was lifted just before Christmas so you can enjoy the break.

Dusty - I totally know what you mean about feeling a fraud! I'm only in here because I figure that at least we have go this far so the meds are doing something! We are on the right track, and even if this ones does not work for us, we will at least get our baby at some stage. I dont think I will really feel pg until we see the little heartbeat, and then when we get to the 12 week mark I think I will get really excited. But we still have a way to go...

Good luck for your next scan and for seeing a strong little heartbeat - it will be there!

Dusty and FG - every day is a milestone when you've been through so much. each day that you get through when everything has gone ok. each week heralds another week of anxiety you've survived, each test another success that you've not been through before. the stress and feeling like a fraud doesn't go away. the butterflies that nearly make you physically ill before every test or appointment - they don't go away either. but after a little while, they get a little easier to cope with. you start anticipating them (still anxiously) - and eventually (i hope) look forward to the appointments and things. but i don't think the stress will ever go away completely. and i think until the reality of holding your baby in your arms for a few weeks sets in, you'll still feel a little like a fraud!

on the home front - my DH comes home today til after Christmas - hell, he might even be home til after the new year! i'm so excited. he has been so amazing putting up with all my bad dream phone calls, my anxiety, stresses from afar. he works his ass off at the moment so that i don't have to work while i'm feeling yukko. i appreciate it so much!

some of you may have read my blog from earlier this morning in which i celebrated that i think i felt the gremlin from the outside last night - was very unsure, but i think i did. have been feeling distinct feet from the inside the last few days (since GTT - think the sugar might have gotten to the kidlet big time!) and last night, i was feeling similar from the outside - very weak, but there. i just don't know if i've imagined it or whether it's really real kwim?

to everyone else - this pg thing is doing my head in - i read, i think "ooh, i'll respond" but when it gets to personals, i tend to only think of the last two posts - i AM thinking of all of you, i'm just not up to personals too often. i will say HM and Bel - i really hope all the spotting/bleeding is done and gone! you both deserve to be able to embrace your pregnancies not stress on it so much!

I was going to say you shouldnt feel like a fraud but that would be very hypocritical of me as there are still days i feel like a fraud. I was so terrified of even telling people i was pregnant and wore clothing were no one would know, alot of people i dont know well only found out when i was about 7 monthes and really started to show. There is definately a feeling of it being so surreal. im still struggling with getting things "ready" and i have just over 3 weeks til my CS. The LTTTC thing really does make this a much tougher journey and its a little sad as i know this will be my last pregnancy and i really wanted to enjoy it, but im not going to deny how much harder it has been. scooby- wow 3 weeks to go:dance: just think this time next year, you will have a nearly 1 yr old.

AFM- Well i am spotting:rolleyes: no suprise really i havent be able to feel comfortable with this pregnancy since day dot. i feel so angry, i am over it really. one minute i start to think that it may be ok and then bam the rug gets ripped from under me.
The blood isnt red its brown, there's not alot of it BUT its there!!! i am wearing a pantie liner (TMI) and there is a thin strip about 4 cm long of light brown blood. i am suppose to be due for af in 4 days, so i dont know if it might have something to do with that or if its got something to do with crinone gel in which i have started back up ( 2 days ago)
i just wish it would all go away and let me have a normal pregnancy.

m2c - the crinone is likely to be irritating your cervix again, which might cause bleeding a bit. if you're almost "due" for AF, you might also have some breakthrough bleeding - it's a mega PITA that it's not just a case of "you're pg" and your body starts behaving properly!

hi ladies - just wanted to link you to this thread - BW has had her little boy 4 weeks early!

congrats BW - you're a trooper hun! i'm so happy for you, DH and little Samuel!

M2C :hug: sweetie the spotting sounds ok and light like mine I know that it is easy for me to say but while it is brown it is not a fresh bleed more like 5 days ago so that is a good sign. Take care and try and Relax

Wow - Congrats BW. Bizarre - another friend of mine went 4 weeks early yesterday with a little boy - Hhhmmm, didn't want to have to wait a whole year for Christmas presents me thinks!!!

Congratulations BW, what a great Xmas present! I hope she and bubba are both well and speedy recovery!

Also have some news about our friend Bel, I just received a PM from her sister at around 330pm, she's back in hospital again with another bleed, babies are okay - one was doing aerobics in there this morning - just wish for no more bleeding. Without Internet access, she's having withdrawals!

I thought to keep her spirit up and entertained, maybe you can sms her if have her mobile number already, otherwise PM me and I can pass the mesg on.

I just hope this scary phase will soon over so she can properly enjoy her precious PG, let's all pray for that! :pray:

I don't know how to PM but please pass on good thoughts and prayers to Bel. So glad to hear the bubs are okay but I can't imagine how hard it must be for her. Praying for it to all go away so Bel can enjoy being pg.
