TL, your belly pics are beautiful. You're definitely one of those glowing pregnant ladies!

I had my 4d scan tonight and it was amazing. Buddy was awake and busily using his sucking and swallowing reflexes. It looked like he was constantly eating and talking, and looking back at the dvd earlier, almost like he was blowing bubbles! He is 100% definitely a boy which is a relief to know for sure....maybe those recurring dreams I've been having about having a girl will stop now! the lady doing the scan commented on his lovely chubby round face. I suddenly had visions of having a 10lb'er! We could tell he has DH's nose and my mouth. It was such a surreal experience and I am so glad we decided to have it done.

Just a question, as we don't know the sex and are wanting a surprise can you still have the 4D scan done and ask not to see the sex??

Ok - question time.....

I had my appointment yesterday and my Ob is going to be away for a couple of weeks soon. Now, he was asking me about my little trip to the hospital the other day and I explained it to him and he said yep yep quite normal.....but once I hit 28 weeks I should feel movement between breakfast and lunch, lunch and dinner and then again during the night and not just 'a' kick or 'a' punch, but I should feel the baby move several times during those periods and if I don't then I should call and go to the hospital straight away.

Now - I am comfortable with him as an Ob. I trust what he is telling me and I will be vigilent to notice those movements from 28 weeks on. I would rather he said what he said and it is scaring me a little than have him not say anything and me be oblivious to what I should be looking out for.

I guess I just want to know if anyone else has been told this?

Also, bubs is still breach - I thought it was a bit too early to be worrying about that - does anyone know the timeframes that the medics prefer the baby to be head down?

I can already see that I could become a bundle of nerves from 28 weeks on if I don't put some action plan in place to guard against the worry. *sigh* and here I was thinking I was getting to the easier & less stressful part. :-)

Belly Rubs everyone - I gotta get to work - this whole new kitchen thing is taking a lot more time than I thought it would......

BG - sorry to hear you've had such a rough week and glad things are better for you now- i hope you can get that scan done soon just to reassure

just another quick question from me, for those who had a scan ay 8 wks and 10 wks...should I expect much change in the heart rate?

possums - heart rate tends to be it's highest around weeks 7-9 then tapers off to what is considered normal - for us, at 8.5weeks we had a heart rate of 186, at 12 weeks, it was down to 156. anything from 120-180 is considered normal after that point - and will vary depending on what baby is doing at the time - sleepy baby is like sleepy mummy with lower heart rate (gremlin hovers 135/140 while sleeping) - playful baby has higher rate (anything up to 160 when awake)

scan will hopefully be tomorrow - kinda hope the Ob is as understanding as last time and gets my stress levels...

hi possums - yes, I plan to tell friends after the 12 wk scan (though several very close friends already know - I figured if I'd want them to know if something went wrong, then I told them). Sorry i can't help you on the heart rate - I've never actually been told the rate, I've just seen it flashing on screen.

Janie - nice one, it must be so amazing to get to that point in your pregnancy. congrats.

Jen - Pretty much every one knew we were doing IVF and a lot of my close friends knew all the milestones (pick-up, transfer, etc) so a lot of people just needed confimation rather than telling - if you know what I mean. So by around 8 week pretty much everyone we were in regular contact with knew.

Possums - HR for us was around 160 - 170 at 8 weeks then down to 150 - 160 at 12 week and now between 140 - 150 (I think) I can confirm tomorrow.

Scooby - Yep it was me and you're welcome. It's nice to be able to see the list and not be constantly trying to remember everyone...Glad things are going well for you at home. You sound happy.

Everyone else - hiya, belly rubs, foot rubs, back rubs.....ahhhhh back rubs.

AFM - Fornightly Ob appointments from now on so I'm back with Dr. K next week. DH is having a crisis of conscience about his snow-boarding trip to Japan he is supposed to be going on in 2 weeks. I'm totally happy for him to go, but he's worried about leaving me alone. I keep saying that I wont be alone - I'll have my cat and my new kitchen to keep me company, but that doesn't seem to cut it.

I know that I will be fine on my own (I'm literally 5 minutes from the hospital we're booked into), but I don't know how to make him feel ok about it. He really deserves this holiday - he's been working so hard this last year to make everything ok for me with the whole IVF thing and me being pregnant. I know he really wants to go, but can see he's torn.

Anyway - apart form the fact that we now have a 3bedroom house packed into a single room in our house (floors sanded and varnished) and the heat and swelling cankles and sore back - I'm great. Feeling good and had an idea when I was doing my relaxation cd yesterday. I'm going to create a photo diary for each yearfrom when my baby is born and get it made up into a hard cover book (heard of memento?) and then my baby will have one for each year of their life. Thinking about doing a family one as well. To document everything from renovations to weddings to brithdays, holidays, christenings, moving house, whatever. Super excited about it. I'm going to start the family one from Jan 2009 - Dec 2009 and the baby one from birth to birthday +1.

I'm off home to my studio apartment aka: back room crammed with cr*p.

Hi everyone

Just a very quick post from me as I am supposed to be packing while waiting for dinner!

Had the 12wk scan today - all is good - baby is measuring at 13wks 1day! I think if Gizmo keeps growing at this rate, we're having it in June not August! Anyway, did NT scan as well - took almost one hour to get enough measurements as Gizmo kept fidgeting about and wanted to be on his/her side and stomach, which is not the right away apparently. Anyway we got enough measurements in the end and went for b/t. Will see OB on Thursday to get the results. Cross your fingers for us

Sorry for no personals. Have an early day tomorrow as I'm travelling interstate for work. Will try to pop back in on Wednesday night if not too tired to catch up.

Just something I have been wondering about...I know all we want is a healthy baby! But do any of you have a gender preference? (ie always dreamed of a little girl or boy)...I know we will all be delighted with and love a healthy girl or boy, I just wondered whether anyone, or your DH, quietly hopes more for one than the other? I know some friends with children who did really want one or the other, but in the end just loved and were thrilled to have a healthy baby...although a friend with 3 boys does stare a little wistfully at baby girls. I guess at this stage DH and I are just so focussed on wanting this baby to stick and stay with us and be healthy...but later on I wonder whether I will care/think more about whether it's a boy or a girl- I imagine it's something which might factor in more when it's a second child (ie hoping for one of each etc).

Possums: I have no record of the 10 week heartbeat expect the OB telling me it was all good hun. Relax and Rest as I think I have said before after 8 weeks he told me only 2% chance. No gender pref from me expect that DH was certain he would have another boy as is soo excited he is now getting his Princess.

AFM: Went to antenatal classes last night and DH had to try hard not to make smart arse comments very hard over 3 hours. Miss C kept sticking out her hand wanting to know why Mummy was not on the couch playing with her must have made me look like a skirmy heap. Think with the iron levels etc and now all I have seen and read I am leaning towards a ceaser so I will talk to the OB at our next appointment Monday beacuse I think it will take the pressure of me with fear of bleeds etc. Brisbane Breakfast Club this weekend and then some sleep for Mummy.

Quick post from me...

Scan was great - bubs is perfectly normal in every regard so we are very happy.
I still don't think I've felt any movement yet but OB is not worried and said it could take another 2 - 3 weeks before any I can be sure of any movement. After seeing bubs today I am not worried anymore about not feeling any thing.

Janie, only 24 more days to go...very exciting and then it will be your little ones turn to make an appearance.

AFM, 24 weeks tomorrow and have been feeling really well probably cause this little one has very active times during the day.
Not much else have itchy BB again and nothing really seems to help.
Oh well price of pregnancy and a stretching body.
