Bel - thinking of you. I know this is hard but staying calm and relax is the best thing you can do for your twins at present.
BM - good luck with your scan.
TL - wow. Hope you enjoy your time at home preparing for your baby's arrival. Not long now.
Belly rubs to all.
AFM, Feeling wonderful. Very pre-pg sort of feeling and full of life with the exception of an enormous bump. Have gained 7 kgs in total so far and am very happy, though have been eating lots of sweet lately....can't seem to stop. Been feeling baby move a lot more now.
Got a question, I have been getting up at 2 am and 5:30 am every morning for the past 2-3 weeks. Initially, I thought that might be related to my bladder wanting to release itself but now I wonder. My friend told me that the times when I wake to pee is actually the baby moving and they will be the times when the baby (after birth) would wake and demand feeding. What are your thoughts on this?
Thanks Girls I am enjoying my time at home have a moth infestation in the food cupboard to deal with today!!!!!!!! If only DH would have cleaned it out and sprayed it when we saw the first ones
Anyhow that is nothing My Darling HM I am sorry for you news and will be here for you whenever you need me esp once you are here in Bris
Kahlan - i have very similar waking patterns at the moment - especially a 5am wake up EVERY morning - and a very playful bubba for at least an hour (usually significantly longer) - then i get peace til 9.30 - and it's becoming rather obvious that, for now at least, this is Gremlin's sleep/wake cycle. i don't know that anything like this would be definite for when the baby arrives, as there is still a long time between now and then, but it's definitely getting me in the habit of those wake up calls. i think if i slept til 6 or later in the morning without a loo trip and bubba playing, i'd be worried about her!
I have been a nervous wreck for two days - wish I could just be more zen! Anyway just had scan and all is going beautifully - wonderful heart beat still and a quick measure showed 8 weeks 5 days give or take a couple of days so that is all good. Have my official 10 week visit next friday so only another week to wait. Hoping I can now relax and enjoy again - and praying spotting stays away cos that just really worries me every time. OMG - I am pregnant and going to have a beautiful baby in October - I don't want to wish the pregnancy away but honestly i can't wait
Hippymum - not sure if you're still reading this page, but I'm so, so sorry for you, I just read your blog. I don't really know what to say, I'm just devastated.
Babymiracles - congratulations, that is wonderful news.
Bel: I'm so glad you are in hospital and getting the best care for you and your little ones. Everyday is another day closer to them being strong little being for when they do come into the world. At least they seem to be happy in your tummy still.
AFM: Well I've hit the 6 weeks mark now and on time the m/s seems to have kicked in. Haven't been sick as yet but the nausea is here with a vengance. Grocery shopping today was a nightmare with all the smells at the supermarket, I couldn't get out quick enough. Also my sore BB's have increased from just being sore late in the day to now hurting all day, plus a very sore lower back. I'm also getting pretty much continuos cramping pains, they alternate from the right side, left side, around my cervix area. It is quite uncomfortable but no spotting or anything so am thinking it is my uterus stretching. I've heard that by the end of the 8th week your uterus is actually as big as it should be a 12 weeks, so make sense with the constant cramping pains.
We had visitors today who brought over there 11 week old baby, he is so sweet and they made the comment about how good I was with the baby. So hard not to blurt out the news, only my parents and a good friend knew about this cycle so wanting to keep it secret for as long as possible. Only 10 days til scan, I'm sure it will drag....
Bel - thinking of you and sending lots of positive sticky vibes your way.
TL - Hooray! Really on the home straight now!
KellyD - My MS kicked in around the same time. Just keep an eye on how you are feeling and make sure above all else that you keep your fluids up. My OB said that if you are not able to eat much, don't stress. Bubs will take all the nutrients that they need from you (which is partly why you feel so crap). But you need to make sure that you keep hydrated. I found icy poles were my best friend. Got a bit of a sugar boost from them at the same time.
Babymiracles - wonderful news about the scan. The first trimester is such a stressful time. I am sure that everything will be wonderful and soon you will be able to really relax and enjoy it.
HI Mels, Kahlan, BG, LNB and everyone else that I have missed.
AFM - well I am 36 weeks today, so really on the count down now - 4 weeks to go. Had my check up today (on weekly check ups now), and all is perfect. Had been worried about some swelling in my hands and feet, but my BP is perfect, so it is just normal preggie swelling. Baby is still in a great position, but they have not started engaging yet, so looks like bubs is not going to arrive early (which is great). Still feeling really good and on the count down to finishing at work now - only 9 work days left! Had my Strep B swab today, so hopefully all is okay with that. I guess we will know in the next few days.
Chez - Hope everything is ok? I can't remember the last time I saw a post from you - probably me and my domestic blindess, but anyway. Hope all is well with you.
Just wanted to say hi and a big thankyou to everyone again for your friendship and kindness.
Janie and TL- You 2 must be SOOOOO excited now. I'm so thrilled for you both that your little ones will soon be safely on your arms. I remember both of you getting your BFP's and I was over the moon for you both then and am still now.
All my other friends...hi and big belly rubs to you all
Bel - I found out from Ob that those red spots I've got are called 'Spider Angioma'
Spider Angioma is a skin condition and a form of telangiectasis - a lesion produced by telangiectasia (a vascular lesion formed by the dilation of a group of small blood vessels) which may be present as a coarse or fine, red line, or as a punctum (point or small spot) with radiating limbs (spider). This is also called spider nevus.
It is characterized by a central and elevated red dot, about the size of a pinhead, from which small blood vessels radiate (looking like a spider), spider angiomas are often associated with high estrogen levels as occur in pregnancy or when the liver is diseased and unable to detoxify estrogens.
Nic, Hmmmmm, interesting. A friend of mine who is into alternative treatments told me it could be a liver thing too. Am looking at my arm now and trying to see a central dot but can't find one. I think mine is pg related too though as I haven't had it before and it's getting really obvious now.
Thanks for the info. Will check with my OB tomorrow too now.
Yep - liver issues and a few other things. I can only see the central red dot with a very slight red radiating around the spot - can't see the actual veins - they are too small.
More Info:
Small numbers of spider nevi are common in children and pregnant women. However, in large quantities, spider nevi may be a sign of an underlying disorder, such as advanced cirrhosis of the liver.
Lesions resembling multiple spider nevi (but without the "spider legs") may be a sign of hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia, a disorder of the blood vessels that causes bleeding and iron-deficiency anemia.
Most patients with hepatic cirrhosis develop many hepatic spiders that may become quite prominent. Many women develop lesions during pregnancy or while taking oral contraceptives. As spiders are asymptomatic (producing no symptoms) and usually resolve spontaneously in about six to nine months postpartum or after discontinuing oral contraceptives, treatment is generally not required.
