fantastic news on the scan Possums - so glad everything is travelling so well for you this time
it's understandable you've lost faith in your body over time - just have to start regaining it again!
Possums - I have the hugest smile on my face... what wonderful news for you, your DH and little Hope. I can sense the relief in your voice and hope that this will start the rebuilding of your trust in your body. This is the one Possums - little Hope is a miracle (from your bad side no less) and is here to stay!
Janie xxx
Mel- thanks- hope you are feeling ok
Janie...thank you for the nice words :)
BG- can I ask..did you ever lose faith in yourself and your intuition etc? It's been quite hard for me, as I am fairly spiritual and used to feel I was tuned into things, and then my faith was a bit shattered with our last miscarriage.
possums - i found myself losing faith everytime i approached an appointment - i was so positive the rest of the time, but the anxiety of an upcoming appointment messed with my head. it was only the day or two before each one, but being an AC pregnancy, there have been a lot of them. i have doubtful moments even now if miss gremlin goes quiet for too long - but it's not the same absolute belief that things weren't right that i had in the previous pregnancies
even when i'd had positive results before, something just didnt feel right - i don't know if it was about my head space at the time, whether i just "knew" something wasn't right - but from the day of the IUI this time around, something has felt right. even with my doubts, i think it would have to be more the anxiety, not a belief that anything was truly wrong kwim?
i felt so strongly that this was going to be ok, that i ordered the furniture when i was 10 weeks - i just knew i would be going strong kwim? i still have concerns now - i told hubby on Sunday that the law would recognise our baby now, no matter what happened - but it was a fleeting moment of relief that she is now considred a baby - everything else seems to be ok
maybe it's the constant nausea since the day after implantation that has done it....
YAY POSSUMS!!! i hope your good fortune rubs off on me! im sooo terrified, have a GP appointment today to order a scan im going to go for 8 weeks!!! another 3 weeks of torture! i just want to see SOMETHING in there even a baby with no heartbeat is an achievement for me not that i want that! im also terrified of having an ectopic as i still have that niggling pain on the lower left, im trying to think its just the embie digging in, only time will tell and the other thing is the statistics, 1 in 4 experience loss and there isnt much of that going on in here so it has to happen to someone maybe its me :(
Woo Hoo Possum, fantastic news for Baby Hope
Janie, I hear you on the heat...I HATE IT!!! Sydney tomorrow is going to be 40o and I have to go back to work :wall:
Try and keep you and bubs nice a cool in the pool.
AFM, 20 weeks today :leap: and only 140 days to go.
Feeling really good except for hating this heat and for the last few days have been feeling some flutters every so often.
It feels so strange sort of makes me laugh when they happen as it feels someone is tickling me
:bellyrubs: :bellyrubs: to all
Yay Possum! I am so happy for you!
HM - If you are experiencing it too then I think it's our babies doing their flips... When do yo normally get those sensations? For me it happens at night or when I lay down... sometimes when I am sitting.
TL - good luck with the test.
Hope everyone else is well.
21and ttc- good luck for that scan..fingers crossed
nicole- woohoo 20 weeks!
Nic you are sooo cute :)
Thanks Ladies for the Test Good wishes
Great news possums - so glad all went well for you.
AFM - So hard to get back into work after a week of doing nada in Bryon. The rascal is bored too. Won't stop moving while I'm trying to work. DH and I lay in bed and watched my belly jumping all over the place last night. I don't think he fully realised how strong mini-me is in there. He was shocked at how much my belly jumped and accused me of making it jump. I think because of the anterior placenta he hasn't been able to feel as much as I have, but I have assured him that bubs is getting stronger everyday.....I love the look on him face when he has his hand on my belly and he's waiting for a kick and then when he gets one the total look of surprise and then quick "was that one?" question to me (I confirm with a nod) before he looks back in total concentration waiting for the next one. It cracks me up. Like something other than the baby is making my belly make those kind of movements without a baby in there....he just needs to check that it was a kick and not what.....? An alien trying to escape?
Any-hoo. Apart form work I'm feeling good at the moment. Feeling a bit withdrawn from friends and family - I just don't really fancy doing much in the way of dinners or movies or coffee at the moment. Is anyone else feeling like that? I just kinda want to be at home with my DH and my cat Disco.
Kahlan- thanks...must be great feeling the movement
Nixon- that's a cute story about your DH. i tend to be a bit anti-social at the best of times ... I feel pretty distracted by this pregnancy right now, forunately I have a few close girlfriends who get it (one has been through IVF and one is going through it now and one about to start!)...but I also like hanging at home with DH and our two dogs, Charlie and Oscar.
TL- hope all goes well with this test
BG- thanks for sharing how it has felt for you
afm- just started worrying (what's new you say!) as I realised I had used a bit of lavender on a cut and it's a no-no in the first trimester...I just hadn't given it much thought. Ah well , will steer well clear of it from here!
Nic- Your DH is just so cute. What a wonderful story. It is like kids finding presents from santa christmas morning. I have found PG has made me a bit anti social too hun. Don't know why...just want to be home with my hubby. Although i have to put that on the back burner for a few weeks looking after a friends baby...they are very social...activities everyday out and about. I am going to be knacked i think.
Kahlan- Yep hun, at night and during dinner or just after dinner. Usually when i am sitting with my knees up a bit. It is just so cool.
Possums- you are funny. I know what you mean re the lavender...but a slip up won't hurt you or bub...continued use might. Don't worry hun, do the best you can.
Love and rubs HM xoxo
Possums - Don't worry about it mate. I used some zovirax on a cold sore that I got when I was really run down and unwell a few weeks ago then found out that it's a big no-no. Can't stress about every little thing - I now know not to use it and will use tea tree oil instead if the need arises. I just remind myself that babies are born every day to mothers who either didn't know they were preggo for ages or drug addicts - I know women who have smoked thru pregnancy. We do the best we can do and we learn something new every day and we better ourselves and the care we take of our little ones. So, don't beat yourself up :-)
Hi other lovely ladies - hope you're all doing well today.
X
:leap: Possums that is great news that all is well with the little one and the way that it has all happens just proves that 'Hope' is here to stay. Congrats!
thanks lovely ladies!
Hi Ladies
So i go missing for such extended periods of time but believe me im always reading and sometimes crying at the posts in here.
First and foremost congratulations to possums i'm so happy to see you back in here, hold on tight hope you have an amazing mummy!
To Dusty and M2C im so sorry to hear of your losses, take care of yourselves hopefully time and the love of your family and friends will see you through.
TL, Nixon and Janie71 i cant believe how time is flying by in here, belly rubs to you all!
AFM- We discovered we are having a little boy Jacob Rowan in honour of my late brother at 20 weeks and now at 23 weeks his kicks are getting very strong, only problem is he has me stuck at home in bed as he is pressing on my sciatica (ouch).
Well i hope evryone i missed is doing well and no doubt i'll be lurking around the place
Hey Bee - Long time no see. Good to hear all is well with you. Rushing off home - so belly rubs and take care.
X
Bee- glad all is going well and congrats on having a boy!...i hope little Jacob moves a bit and stops pressing on your sciatica...sounds painful
Bee - Try AP for the Siatica we got Miss C to move off a nerve last week it was amazing :)
Hello to everyone we had the two hour GTT today feeling confidant all will be ok
Possums, congrats on your scan! such great news. :)
Bee, yay for having a boy! :D I too hope he moves soon to relieve you of that awful nerve pain.
TL, good luck with your GTT results. I'm sure everything will be fine. :)
27w midwife appt today. all good, measuring 28w, listened to heartbeat for a bit, BP is normal and she's happy with how I'm going with the GD. According to their scales I have lost 5kg this pg. None of my clothes fit me anymore, they're all falling off! Bit of a strange problem to have at this stage of pregnancy! I really don't want to go and buy any more, but I'm forever walking around adjusting everything...it's not a good look!
megan - i can sympathise with clothes falling off! it's a weird feeling - i lost about 10kg at start of pg, so even though i'm starting to gain baby now, my weight doesnt move, and everything sits funny on me! oh well, i'm not complaining... much! lol
lol BG, It's weird isn't it. Normally I wouldn't be complaining about losing a few kgs, but it's made it hard knowing what clothes I will need for the next 13 or so weeks. My pre pg jeans still fit and my mat jeans I bought at 14w are now swimming on me! Surely I wont still be in pre pg jeans when I'm 38w pregnant?! I guess I will find out soon enough!!
Officially 3rd trimester tomorrow...can't believe it still. Is this real? Sometimes I forget and then all of a sudden a baby will kick my internal organs in all directions.
i have lots of moments like that megan! i still haven't popped much either (heffalump pre pg, so lots of room for baby to make herself at home
i'm not sure if i'll even need mat clothes ( have a few clothes that were too big before!) - hell, i only have one top i wear that even makes me look pg (i don't think i'll wear it post pg! lol)
Hey girls...had a ***** night last night...ended up crying myself to sleep for hours. I am really having trouble getting my head around moving back to Aus...freaking out a bit actually. Oh dear. It will calm down i hope. I was just beside myself last night and really scared.
When i fell pg, i lost about 6 kg in first trimester....only just put on a couple of kg in the last week (mostly from eating cupcakes!)..still not showing, although i have to adjust my jeans waistband when i sit down...not because it is tight but more that the pressure feels weird. Oh that would be great to wear normal clothes through out...
I better go and sort myself out.
Love Hm xxoox
ok Megan, BG and HM - that is soooo not fair that you 1. lost weight and 2. have cloths falling off  I'm not yet at 10 weeks and am having to sort my jeans into the pile that I can and can not wear:wall: Certainly have not lost weight, just transfered muscle into fat and deposited it on my hips and tummy - talk about jelly belly! Having already got 2 x mat bras I'm seriously thinking of what cloths I need next just in order to have something fit me.
But in all seriousness - HM  - its a big move you are undertaking dont be tough on yourself for getting stressed and upset about it - I think any of us would be in the same situation, esp when you add a pg on top of it.
Megan - congrats on making it to the 3rd trimester - not long to go now!
Tl - hope that the test results come back fine - sure they will, and that is great news about the AP working - must be making a huge difference to how you feel.
Bee - what a beautiful gift your baby has brought you to be able to remember your brother in that way. Just makes this an extra special little boy.
Nixon - loved the story about your DH -very cute!
AFM - next ob appointment is this arvo - hanging out for the scan and :crossfingers: that Tex's heartbeat is still strong. DH is away till later tonight so I will just have to be strong all by myself this time:o DH and I have decided to do the Downs tests, so I guess we will be booking in for all those things if all goes well today. May even go and do some cloths/baby shopping after ob appointment for some retail therapy... I'm doing my boss' job (plus mine) for the next 3 weeks, so that is not going to do wonders for my stress levels - but hey, what is the worst that can happen...
Wishing everyone well.
FG
FG - i lost a LOT of weight at the start of pregnancy, no matter how much i ate - but i had ample to lose! i think the change in eating habits just changed my metabolism heaps. i still haven't put any of it back on - but have a distinct little pot now, so i'm guessing as Gremlin grows, i am still shrinking a little bit... i have packed away some of my clothes that i just didn't feel would be appropriate during pregnancy - pants that had no give in the material etc - i just figured even though they technically fit, if i do have a bloated or popped day (which i've had a bit lately), they just wouldn't be comfy... i only have one top that even makes me look pg - and i think that's only the style of the top - no one yet has commented on me being pg except for a couple of girls at work who've told me that i look great with the weight loss - yay! the weight loss had me really stressed for a while though because i just kept eating and couldn't seem to stop losing it - didn't help that, when i had UTI, the GP said "oh, you shouldn't lose weight in pregnancy" - wtf? look at it on a case by case basis!
not a lot happening here - have a baby going ballistic in my tummy who has decided shopping isn't her fave thing (either that, or it IS her fave thing, but making mummy dizzy makes me think not!). she loves the sounds of daddy's voice even over the phone (gotta love speaker phone), and detests the sounds of norti cats doing norti things outside mummy's bedroom window at 3.30am - OMG - the KICKS!!!
Thanks FG I do hope you have a great OB visit
BG - Gotta love what they respond too :)
Met with the midwife and Charlotte is sitting diagnolly accross the tummy  she has 6 weeks to get into a good postion and I am sure she can do that.
2 Hour GTT will not be back till Monday so should know the results then
Got told that there is lots of great movement and she has a beautiful heartbeat.
Mummy just needs to watch her iron levels the are getting a bit low
Good luck today FG, can't wait to hear how you went.
TL, 6 weeks and counting I'm sure for you
FG- good luck with the appt...I bet you are nervous and excited about the scan...I always feel that way
TL- Charlotte needs to just wriggle around a bit then ;) glad she is doing so well
megan - glad to hear things went well with your appt and all is good
BG- re weight loss...that's interesting and that's not something I expect to happen. I am pretty small and just have a slightly bloated rounded tummy at this stage. Glad you are feeling lots of kicks now :D
HM- hope you are feeling ok...it is a big move
GL at your appt today FG! :)
TL, Charlotte obviously wants to stretch out as much as she can while she can! I've started iron supps again today because I was told mine were really low at my appt too. Levels dropped from 56 at 17w to 8 yesterday. No wonder I am feeling so tired.
HM, I can't imagine how stressful moving countries would be. Moving house 10 minutes away is bad enough! You have a lot going on, so it's definitely understandable you would be having a tough time at the moment.
BG, I can't believe your GP said that. Definitely something that should be assessed on a case by case basis, and comments like that to a less informed patient could cause unnecessary stress.
Well, I should have left to go out already but instead I am still sitting here on the computer. Time to put on my baggy jeans and get out of here! ;)
Hope everyone else is well :)
hi girls im very upset and nervous as I took 2 aspirin this morning for a migraine that ive had for 3 days straight now, i havent even left the house its so bad, the box said its fine as long as it isnt in the last trimester but ive read conflicting results online, im very nervous now i dont want to hurt this little one and all i want is to see its little heartbeating i will never forgive myself if ive damaged him or her, what do u think about this, i feel terrible now i should have asked doc first but i thought a drug company would write that its bad if it is or they would be sued a trillion times over! please help me!
21 - what's done is done now - you can't change that hunny - all you can do is learn from it - get your DP to get you some panadol/panadeine/mersyndol (day strength) - all are fine while pg. you will be fine i'm sure. some people have to take low dose aspirin long term in pg to help prevent mc, so while it's not ideal, it's not a huge issue. just remember for next time
take it easy hun
BG
Hi All,
21 - I agree with BG - don't stress. Such a low dose should not have done any harm. My OB advises using Panadeine or Panadol. In fact they actual suggest Panadeine is better (as has some codeine) as with the hormone headaches (I had in my first trimester also) the panadol just doesn't seem to help. Try and not stress about it (easier said than done I know), but I am sure that such a low dose would not do any harm. It would be repeated long term use that wouldn't be good.
TL - GL with the results on Monday - good to hear Miss Charlotte is doing so well.
FG - Good luck with OB/scan appointment today. Looking forward to hearing how well it goes.
HM - go easy on yourself. Moving back to Aus is a big decision and will take some time to come to terms with. You are going through massive physical and emotional changes with your pregnancy too, so that may change the way that you would normally react to stressful situations.
Bee - Welcome back! Congratulations on your little boy. I agree - what a wonderful way of honouring your late brother.
Hi BG, Megan, Possums, Nicole, Nixon and all the others that I just know I have left off (sorry)!
AFM - all okay here - I think that I may have dropped a little in the way that I am carrying. Not sure if I am too early on for that, but my profile has definitely changed today - not so much belly high up. Bubs is still dancing up a storm and has been kicking me a lot in the ribs - to the point where sometimes i get a little fright when it just comes out of the blue (cheeky monkey).
Janie xxx
21 - totally agree with Janie and BG - such a low dose shouldn't do any harm. Think about all those women out there who don't even realise they are pregnant until 12 or 13 weeks. In my case I was told to take Panadeine by my fs also.
Janie - I'm doing the fornightly photo to monitor the belly positioning. I'm pretty high (I think) I've eaten a fully inflated balloon and the round bit is sticking straight out from my belly button.
Possums, HM, TL, BG, Nicole, Chez, Megan, Bee, FG, Rach and everyone else - Hi and have a great weekend.
PS: Any one around or past the 20 week mark - I'm getting major pain in my lower back and lower ribs. Really strong, dull ache. I do work at a PC all day, but I have good posture and ergonomics (can ya tell I'm a computer geek?) We are supplied with top of the range chairs, so I don't think it's that. Any of you experiencing this - should I mention it to my GP or Ob?
PPS: Can we do one of those pages with everyone who is preggo in this thread and the due date etc? So that we have a list of all those in the thread? My belly buddies thread has one and it's really good becuase I always forget who is in this thread if I haven't heard from them for a while IYKWIM?
If everyone is happy to have the list I am happy to maintain it. If you are not on the list (I'll put it out there over the weekend) PM me with your Due Date, Gender/Surprise, and what number is this for you. I'll put together as much as I can from past threads, but you all know how busy it has been in here lately :-)
Then we can copy the list across to each new thread we get.....
ie:
Janie - 30th Mar 2009 - Surprise - #1
Nixon - 9th May 2009 - Surprise - #1
Possums - 3rd Sept 2009 - Unknown - #1
Possums & Janie - hope you don't mind me using you in my example.
Thanks Dusty.
X
Great idea Nixon... and we are going to find out whether it's blue or pink :)
Great idea Nixon
I do get the back ache when sitting for too long sweetie try a heat pack for 10-15 mins and get up an walk every hour. AP also helps
Hello all :hello:
Its taken me some time to realise this experience is for real so have hesitated on coming in to this part of BB.
DH & my TTC journey began in Feb 2005. Then after quite a few investigative procedures and 6 ICSI/FET cycles we finally got our FIRST BFP!
Had a scan on Wednesday (14th Jan). Baby was there...heartbeat beautiful and strong (133bpm).
I look forward to being part of your journeys!
