Thanks girls,
i feel like such a fruit cake  this is my #3 pregnancy i was no where near this bad with the others god help i have a lonnng way to go yet .... ](*,)
well any way wish me luck i rang the U/s place where i know the girl who works there and she got me in at 9.45am this morning there weren't any appt till next week available so that's my minor yay for the day so now the worry begins and on the doppler subject :gossip: i have brought one and i am waiting for it to be delivered just a quick question when am i going to be able to hear the bub HB with it after 12 weeks i assume ...
-
Shazz, that's great that you're having an u/s this morning. Good luck, am sure all will be fine. That should reassure you for a week or so 8-[ and then the doppler should be able to pick up the heart beat. I think it depends on how the bub is lying, what size you are etc etc as to when you can first hear the heartbeat. Knowing all is OK from this morning's u/s should get you through, I think you should be able to hear the heart beat around 13-14w ??
-
Thanks Sal,
i am just praying so hard that every thing is going to be alright i have another appt next wednesday with the IVF doctor and he always does a quick scan so thats good so i won't have long to wait till i can hear bub for myself well off i go to the scan now this is the closet i have felt like throwing up yet 8-[ and its just nerves
i'll be back hopefully with some good news
-
Great news Shazz - hope it goes well and you can breath a sigh of relief after your u/s.
Sal - Just wondered if you had come across Kushies cloth nappies at all? Know you did a bit of research into it so just thought I'd ask!!
-
Shazz, yay for th scan and yay for the doppler.
Like you with my first two pregnancies I just sailed through, once I hit the 12 week mark, I just thought, that's it, I will have my babies. After William though, I cannot trust my body in any way, shape or form, it's just part of the process and as Sal and all the other girls have said, you are not a fruitcake, you are so 'normal' for all of us girls here. We are going through much the same.
With the doppler, just a little midwifey hint, you will be able to hear the hb, especially, since this is your third...find the top of your pelvic brim, then place the doppler in the middle, just above the bony part, now angle it down towards you giny and don't be afraid to push quite hard (especially if you are like me and have wobbly bits - if they are more flappy than wobbly sorry if TMI, go underneath IYKWIM) Then just wait for a little while. If you don't get anything after 30 secs, instead of picking the doppler up and moving it elsewhere, just roll it around slowly, in the same place...baby will usually come out to play if you just give him/her a bit of time in the same place.
BTW Thanks girls re comment on preggie belly and my kids, I think they're pretty awsome myself! (well, not the belly, just the kids)!
Sal, so good to hear that you are felling pg now, yes that low dragging feeling is off putting, isn't it? I understand you not feeling like studying actually not feeling like doing anything. Hang in thereoh and be on the look out for a largish parcel, which I posted off this morning!
As for us, we are going to the babies heart scans this afternoon...much sleep has been lost this week and terrible memories of my sick little boy and his heart that could not help him to live. When we had genetics done, they gave us a 50% chance of having a little boy with the same heart defect but it also gives us the 50% chance of a healthy baby, so keep everything crossed for us, won't you?
Have a good day everyone, Tam, Keen, Amy, Sushee, Shell, thinking of you too :D
-
Tiff honey thinking of you all this afternoon and hope it goes great for you.
XXX
-
Tiff all the best for today, I will be thinking of you!!!
-
Shazz & Tiff good luck with ur tests today, hope they show healthy little bubba's... :-)
Tiff, awesome photos.
Amy, it is quite funny huh, i don't know how we got Barney (RHS, not yet 2, so still very immature) to sit still long enough, I think DH was holding their collars, then moved at the last minute while I snapped the shot. Well I think their cute (big but cute), although I'm biased. Seth (LHS) poor old girl, she'll be 8 next mth & piled the weight on after she was desexed 2yrs ago.
-
Well Ladies,
i am back from the scan and feeling very happy and elated what they found was a very active bub with a HB of 170 bpm head to rump length of 4.68cm the bub was having a ball jumping around in there then got a bit tired a had a lie back relaxing then another burst of energy it was so good to see nothing she found would indicate why i would be getting the servere pain that i am ](*,) so i guess i will just keep up the relaxation and try to get on with growing this bub so i will hang up my white coat with the shiney buckles for the rest of the week 8-[ at least
and try to ignore these pains ( heh hehe yeah right )
oh tiff i hope that your scan shows 2 healthy little vegemites big hugs to you and when you get to hang your white coat up too we can do the happy dance together

Yay Shazz on the reassuring results!
Good luck Tiff for the heart scan today.
After having a quiet day yesterday (in which I decided to get a doppler) the little'un is back to it's active self. In fact, have felt it all morning!
Keen lol on you admiring my self restraint. It doesn't feel like restraint when I only had an u/s last Thurs! Lol!

Tiff, good luck this arvo, may the tests give fabulously reassuring results. Can't wait to hear how you go. Everything crossed that all is fine - will further tests be required at all? I'll look out for my parcel, too, thank you!!
Yay Shazz, see we all knew you had nothing to worry about, and Tiff's tips for the doppler mean that you can get reassurance every second of the day that you feel unsure (hehehe when I first got the doppler I was using it about 6 times a day, but gradually I have eased it back and now use it only every second day or so...I'll be sending mine back soon I think).
Amy, no I haven't heard of kushies, let me know what you find out about them, though! I spend a fortune (*gulp* money I didn't really have) on my first batch of clothies, now I realise that I overdid it a lot... Oh well, it's all a learning curve, huh. I'm thinking that baby beehinds might be the most economical option, seeing as they go from birth to toddler.
A little yay for me and DP - he got a job in Ballina! :confetti: So he won't have to commute to the Gold Coast anymore, which is great, plus it means that we are more settled here.
-
:confetti: Yay Sal on DP getting the job! :confetti:

Thanks Sush! Actually he is going to a posty (one of the ones on the little motorbikes) just for a complete change...til now he was working as an accountant. Hehe I was an accountant before going back to uni to study psychology, so I fully understand him wanting to do something different!! He is really looking forward to it, he'll earn b*gger all money but life is far too short to be doing a job that you hate.
-
My SIL is a posty too, and she just loves it! She reckons it's the best job she's ever had! She used to work reception in a hotel and gave it up for this job.
Good on your DP deciding to do something he wants to do! My dad was an accountant and always thought I'd be one too. Instead I ended up a full-time mum for 10 years and am hoping to be one again soon!

Yay Sal and Dp i reckon that would be a cool job except in winter maybe
-
oh and hows this for timing
i just drove in the driveway getting back from picking up the scan results and a courier pulls up and delivers my doppler wooohooo then to top it off my Dh took me to lunch cuz he luvvvvsss me \:D/
-
Yay Sal on DH's new job.
Cool Shazz, that is good timing.
-
hi guys,
Well, we are back from the echo and from all intensive points of view Ivy and Noah have nice strong hearts, with no visible abnormalities and good oxygenated blood pumping through their aortas. I am happy but sad too. Happy and relieved that my little guys are fine, so sad for my little angel, who after talking to the cardiologist today, really had very little chance of survival at all. He went through so much, it is a miracle that I got to spend five days with him. I know, I know onwards and upwards but it is just bringing everything home to roost.
Thanks for all your well wishes.
Shazz, did you get the hb?
Sal, Yay on DH's new job! We LOVE posties!! Yes, to answer your question. Now my uterine thickness scans start and whan the babies are born, they will go through all the tests that William should have had.
Thanks girls, don't know what I would do without all of you
-
Yay Tiff, I'm so glad to hear that Ivy and Noah are fine, made me a litlte teary actually!
But I understand, too, about you mourning William again. You're his mum too, and it must be so hard.
 matey.

Yay Tiggy, congratulations on a fantastic result! I feel for your little angel, but five days with an adoring mum like you is better than no days at all. At least you will always have that precious time. It must be really hard felling so elated yet so sad too. Hugs, and all my love!
Congrats Shazz on a great U/S result!! Phew, it must make you feel a lot better.
Well, can I be selfish and make the rest all about me and mine???
1 day of work to go!! Yay - well, that is about it for me,
But - well, had my sizing u/s today - eehhhm, Squirty is already 2.7kg, and has a head circumference of 33 cm. The radiologists words - this one is not going to be a whimp!! He was so cute, sticking his tongue out, smiling, and sucking on his finger, rubbing his eyes it was really real. I think seeing a facial expression for the first time was just, just well, amazing - I have no words. I have piccies, so I promise this weekend (since I will be a woman of leisure now) I will post them.
So, all I can say, is the projected weight at term is around 4-4.1kg (10+ pounds I think in the old measurement) and a head circ of 39cm.....
Hope I have a really stretchy vagina!!
Better go and tend my husband, sorry to be selfish and crap on about me and Squirty!!
Big hugs to all and I cannot wait to catch up properly with where everyone is up to!!
-
Gab - Zander was 4010gm which was 8lb 14oz just so you have an idea...
-
Gab, at the same point in pg as you, I was told that Pup would be a 9lber and had a head circumf of 32cm by then as well. But when he came out, he was only 6lb 13oz and his head had not grown much more. But then, it didn't really matter to me anyways as he was a caesar!!!
How are all you gals doing in here??
Pup has just turned 3 months (time flown) and for those that have not caught up on my goss, I have broken my ankle and am in plaster #-o . Word of advice to you all, you know how you currently compensate for your off balance belly? Well make sure that you compensate for balance when the baby comes out and you are walking while holding him/her. I fell while holding and walking with Pup and was damn lucky not to drop him on the concrete. He's fine, though wish I could say the same for me. Plaster on for 4 weeks. 1 week down.......

Oh Tiff, I'm so happy to hear both bubba's are ok. But it's still ok to grieve ur littlen.
Gab, ouch on ur little man's prospective weight. My sis had a 9lb4oz (think 4oz) baby boy (he's 8 now) & he got stuck around his forehead, had a red bruise/line for a few wks, but he still came out naturally. :-)
Hayseed, u poor thing, having an ankle in plaster & a 3mth old to tend to, hope those 3wks fly.
-
Morning ladies,
i hope you are all fine and dandy \:D/
wel i took my US back to the GP this morning and asked her if it was possible to have my urine tested as this pain has quite very servere after i go to the loo ( so it made me think maybe a UTI ) well well well guess what i have a extremely bad case of UTI GP's words heh heh i should have gone to med school ... so now i am on antibiotics for a week so hopefully i will start to feel semi normal again very soon any advice from those who have suffered with this would be appreciated
-
Hi girls,
Tiff, a gentle *yay* for getting a great scan on Ivy and Noah. *huge hug*, I guess it was inevitable for you to be thinking about and mourning your angel. I hope you have a smooth-sailing pg from here in.
Gab, *gasp* at how big munchy might end up!
Hay, poor you, falling with pup. That's actually one of my worst fears (falling with a baby), I'm so glad pup turned out OK, what a shame you didn't get off so lightly. Must be hard to do all the bub stuff that you need to, with a broken ankle. 3 weeks to go, hope they pass quickly.
Shazz, I've had many UTIs in my life (thankfully none whilst pg). You're right, once the antibiotics kick in you'll get better very quickly. Just remember to drink heaps of water, and go to the loo immediately after DTD (sorry if TMI but for me that's always how I got 'em...from the friction IYKWIM).
-
Shazz,
I won't say yay to an extreme case of UTI, but at least yay that everything's okay with the bub. Lol!
My doppler arrived today! Can't wait to get home and try it!

Shazz, yep, I just finished medication for my 3rd UTI since June. The 2nd one was a severe one & was diagnosed whilst in emergency ward at hospital the night I started spotting. But it came straight back, so GP gave me a strong 10 day dose of antibiotics. Now on my 3rd or 4th bout of thrush (which has probably been the cause the whole time) since June too. Asked obgyn on Mon & he said for me to use vinegar douching (1/4 cup of vinegar & 3/4 cup of water, in a douche bottle avail at chemist & squirt in there slowly every 2nd day) as thrush hates acid. Well it feels bit better so far, but will see how I go. I am so god damn sick of thrush & UTI's. They have been frequent even b4 pg (more so thrush). Hope ur's doesn't come back, but I hear they're pretty common in pg.
-
Thanks Sal and Shell,
i am just so glad to know what this pain is all about it is like a load has been lifted off my shoulders now i can get on and relax a little can i ask what antibiotics you were prescribed they would only give me amoxil as she said it is the safest to used in pregnancy
woohoo sush, i bet your dying to rip that box open and give that doppler a whirl \:D/
-
I was given a diff one by the hospital, think it started with H (I think) & amoxil from my GP. Both apparently safe in pg. The chemist said that is a very strong dose, make sure u drink LOTS of water.
-
thanks Shell,
i sure will drink loads more i usually drink about 2 and a half litres a day but i am sure i can up that some more till my eye balls are floating :D
-
Tiff - Thats wonderful news about your scan. I hope you start to feel a little better about things soon.
Shazz- You poor thing, at least the antibiotics will soon kick in and do their job, and I repeat what others say drink LOTS of water and i believe cranberry juice has some kind of magic power in keeping UTI away.
Gab - Woohoo on a day left \:D/ Yikes at having a 10+lb-er, although the u/s sizing isn't that accurate as others have said.
Hayseed - Grrr at your ankle in plaster. Was Thomas in a sling or were you carrying him? Do you think the time has just flown by?
Sush - Have you tried out the doppler yet?
Hope all is well with everyone.
-
I was wondering if you ladies could give details of how you fell pg this time around - ie. FET, natural, Clomid, etc. ? Just thought would be good to let the LT TTCers know about some real life examples of success.
-
Hi Keen, well for me I was on an IVF break (had previously done one full stim cycle and one FET), I actually fell pg the month before I was going to start stimming again. I have PCOS so begged the IVF doc to prescribe me Metformin and Clomid so that I felt like I was still TTC even on the break. I took Clomid for two cycles but the depression side-effect was too much (and had done Clomid before without success) so just kept on with the Metformin (which can normalise insulin response in PCOS women). I was absolutely not TTC the month I fell pg, I stopped taking my folic acid, went on a major diet and exercise regime to get me in tip-top shape for the next IVF, and did not do any timed BDing. I am just extremely lucky, after TTC for 3.5 years there was no doubt that there was something wrong with my fertility, but somehow I managed to produce a good eggy that stuck.
-
Keen - I was pretty easy. It was a natural FET (with our last two remaining embies) no drug support prior or after.
Tonight is the first night Jack is sleeping in his "big boys car bed" wish us luck, while he is very excited to be in there, he has been out a couple of times already hehe.
-
Thanks guys... I know at the time you each announced I knew what had been going on with you, but damn if I can remember #-o !
Jo - Have got to love a car bed!! Jack is a very lucky boy \:D/ Hope he stays there for you.
-
Hi Lovelies,
Just a quick post because I'm still working on something.
Tiff - wonderful news about the babies' ultrasound. Hope it helps a little to put your mind at ease. I can also understand though how it must have stirred up some of those feelings you have about William. Thinking of you.
Hay - I'm glad that Thomas is okay but that's a bugger about your ankle. What a horrid experience. Hope you are recovering well.
Jo - I can't imagine why Jack WOULDN'T want to sleep in a bed like that. That's a dream come true! He must be feeling very grown up these days.
Hope you other ladies are all doing well. Time is ticking by for us quite rapidly it seems.
Keen - lovely to see you back around. I was going to ask if you wanted the posting about how I conceived in this forum or in the success stories forum in Long Term TTC?
Got another busy week coming up but hopefully it will all be over soon and I can get started on this place.
Hope you all have a lovely week.

Well Jack didn't stay in his car bed, he was put back into his cot when he was opening the back door. Two reasons why this is not good is that we have a dam and also he will let the cats out. Tomorrow i'm calling the builder to come and child proof these idiot doors we have. Tonight he lasted all of 10 minutes in his car bed and then started getting out and running about, he is now back in his cot......I think it's going to be a slow process hehe!
Today (spur of the moment) we went to the races, I have never been to horse racing before, have no idea of how to bet and won three out of the five races I bet on \:D/ DH won NOTHING! It was a really nice day apart from all of the ignorant people there. You can see quite clearly that I'm pregnant, especially with the floaty top I was wearing and so many people just walked right through me, it was making me cross, why do people walk around with their heads up their arses????
Then I fell over on the grass and do you think anyone came over to lend a hand?? Nope! I was wearing semi heels and the grass bit isn't even and just turned my bad ankle over (NO I WASN'T DRINKING LOL) and down I went like a sack of ****.
Hope everyone else had a lovely w/end!
