Sorry ladies just a quick post...totally amazing how much work you end up with when you have a day off :wall:
Thank you all for your wishes yesterday, I think the first scan is one that you'll never forget.
Had a slight melting moment this morning actually the US picture did.
The nurse said yesterday that after some time the picture will fade and suggested that I laminate it....WELL not a good idea. It pretty much melted the complete image away and just looks like a black photo.
Lucky I scanned it last night and saved it to the lap top or I may have gone slightly mental!!
Anyway sorry for no personals but will try and catch up with you all latter.
:bellyrubs: to all....
Oh noes Nicole!! i'm surprised they suggested you laminate the pic as it's usually printed on paper similar to receipt paper - all heat activated!!! so glad you scanned it first!! i scanned and printed a copy for hubby, and am planning on doing something to preserve the original - just not sure what yet!
Lets just say BG that I have put this down as a MASSIVE 'note to self' never to do that again....
hehehe you're pregnant - you can't expect ANY note to self to stick!!
I'm really stunned! Every scan we've had we've been specifically told DO NOT laminate them because the pictures are printed on heat sensitive paper. Such a good thing that you scanned it first, Nic, think you should let the silly nurse know what it does so the same disaster isn't encountered by others?
The clinic photocopies the scan pics for us, and we've scanned the ones we had done at other places (Note to self: 24w scan pics are not scanned yet!), and then there's the DVD of the scans when bub was bigger...
Still feeling cruddy with this chest lurgy, but I'm finding the cooler, damper air (it's raining here) much easier to breathe than the hot icky air of yesterday. Hopefully another day resting will help and I'll be right to be back at work on Thursday... but it's just so damned hard to get motivated when you know you've got 8 weeks of work left and that's it before life changes forever!
BW
Well we were even told not to scan ours beacuse the paper could melt by or ob so I have been taking photos on the camera
Weighed myself yesterday 2kgs put on since we started IVF trring to be patient and wait for 20 week scan but 5 weeks seems so long I just want something now.
Anyway 10 days till I turn 30 and we will be away that weekend so that will be a distraction
TL- can you have an earlier scan?
30th birthday celebrations and weekend away sounds good
taking photos is a good idea....do you take pics of the actual screen during the ultrasound? or of the pics do you mean?
nicole- lucky you had a backup!
have any of you had bad headaches when pregnant, or early on? I have today..not sure if its a symptom or I just am stressed at work! lol
Hey girls,
Possums - yes - real bad headaches. Especially in the evening for me. Not so much any more.
Nic & TL - Could you use conact to protect the pic's? You know the stuff that you had to cover your school books in when you were a kid? Kind of like cold laminating?
To all the other 'yummi-mumi's in the making'.... Hi...Hope you are well....Hope you are happy :-)
AFM - the funeral was really nice. Outdoors graveside service - my gran didn't want any of the pomp and ceremony that went with a church service (even though she was an avid fan of the big guy upstairs and went every week). Before she passed she said that she didn't like the idea of people getting up and talking about her when she wasn't there. She figured if you ain't got something good to say to someone while they are alive - there ain't no point saying it to everyone except them when they're in the ground.
First appointment with Dr. Kwok today. So far so good. He surprised me with an ultrasound where my peque?o beb? looked to be doing the jive in there. Head - check, arms - check, legs - check. And I heard the heartbeat for the first time. A couple of pic's to take home aswell.
We didn't really discuss anything about what I wanted in terms of birthing etc. Should I be worried about that? We mostly talked about medical history, did breast lump check, referral or the NT test, blood pressure, ultrasound, lungs and heart (mine).
Anyway - sorry for the lack of personals. Been super busy today.
X
Possums, headaches in pregnancy are really common. I had them really bad in the second half of first trimester. Panadol and panadeine are ok (as is panadeine forte if you can get it), and mersyndol is also ok, but I only ever took that at night because it would make me sleep. My AP would use leave in needles on my neck and arms to help give me some relief and that worked really well. She told me that the headaches take over as the nausea subsides, and it seemed to be the case for me. Ugh!
Nixon, I still haven't had a conversation about birth with my OB, it's early days and there's plenty of time for that to happen. To tell the truth, I'm still in a bit of denial about the fact that I will have to get Munchkin out in some way... :o
I'm still moping around in PJs... spending most of the day in bed, some reading, some marking, some messing about on the puter...
But one little bright point... I got a phone call today from one of the exhibitors at the expo I went to last friday. Apparently I won a Scally Bag - they look great, but we'll have to wait for Munchkin to be a lot older before he can use it! And I never win anything! It really made my day! :)
BW
Hi Ladies
Sorry i have been slack!
Nixon - Glad to hear the funeral went as well as these things can, and i really like the sound of your gran  Glad the Ob appointment went well and you have some beautiful pics, as for a discussing the birth i think they tend to leave it a little later so they can discuss realistic possibilities after the scan etc.. we are only just discussing it at 33 weeks.
BW - Congrats on the bag :D
TL - weekend away sounds fantastic! Hope you have a wonderful birthday!
Nic - so sorry to hear about your laminating experience.. lucky for the scanner!
I know i have missed people  but huge :bellyrubs: to all!
Things here are ticking along, bad sleep, sore back, braxton hicks but babies are perfect had out checkup yesterday and girlie is still head down low in my pelvis and has decided she is coming first so we now have a induction date Nov 14th and a C-sec date Nov 17th which is just over 4 weeks away so not long until these babies are here!
Shan
Wow its busy here!
Shannon22 - 4 weeks to go that is exciting. Have plenty of rest, its the last rest you will have for a while :)
Butterfly Warrior - a win is always exciting. I too have never won anything!
I hope you get better soon, its a pain not feeling well. Esp with 8 weeks until Maternity leave I can understamd that your motivation levels arent very high! I could barely concentrate towards the end of my pregnancy with DD. My days were soo long.....
Nixon I think you still have time to discuss birth plans, but perhaps you can bring it up at your next appointment. Im sure you doc will be happy to talk about it with you.
Possums, glad to hear that our U/S are going well, but I can understand that you would be feeling in limbo. Just stay strong, I'm sure the doc's will start to be more positive once they see your baby is growing strong!
As for the headaches, I was getting them the first couple weeks when I found out I was PG. I didnt really do anything about them and lucky for me they seemed to go away. Panadol is always safe in pregnancy though so you can try that.
Nicole congratulations on the U/S, it makes it all feel s real doesnt it. Pitty about melting the pic but aleast you had it scanned. I have an app with my obst next week so he'll probably do another U/S, I cant wait!
Bel hope to see you back with a BFP in 13 days. We'll all keep our fingers crossed for you!
Janie 16 week scan! wow that is exciting, and feeling the baby move is beautiful. I cant wait until I get there.
Megan its only natural to get frustrated by people giving you advise, but at the end of the day the baby will be yours and you will be the mother and you will decide what is best for your baby and whether you need assistance from others. Just respond to people with, when the time comes I will see and learn for myself, thats what its all about.
TL 2 kilos is nothing, lucky you! Turning 30 soon - happy birthday!
I cant remmeber who asked about when to buy baby things, but with my 1st PG I bought a couple things around 4 months b/c they were heavily reduced, but I bought everything else after my 20 week scan. I bought 1 baby outfit very early though, before the 12 week mark b/c I was going crazy! This time I'll probably wait until the 20 weeks before I think about buying things. I am a little my nervous this time.
Which brings me to the comment I made about IVF pregnancies. I think that the material I have read focuses on IVF b/c its probably literature provided by the clinic, however I agree with a few of you have have said that it extends out to everyone who has had a hard time trying to conceive. In my case my 1st PG was very quick but this one took a while before we realised there was an issues wnd then did IUI and then finally IVF. So I agree its the entire journey that has made it harder not the fact that I had to go through IVF, and the thought of having to go thru it again after feeling this joy now scares me. I pray that I have a healthy pregnancy and baby every day, and cant wait until the 12 weeks mark when I think I will relax a little.
Well good night everyone, I think my post has gone on for long enough!
Sorry to anyone I missed, hope you are well, but I replied to the last two pages before I decided it was all getting to long.
Nixon- so glad the funeral went well...and that you had a good appt with your Ob and had another scan...it's so great to see your bubs in there growing
luckystrike- glad things are going well with you and another scan will be great... I too can't wait to get past the 12 week mark, especially given my questionable blood results/concerns etc.
shannon- great that things are going so well...not long now! wow exciting and scary
BW- excellent that you won something...gotta love that .. hope you feel a bit brighter soon
have a good day ladies...every day I move another day closer to my next scan...and tick another week of the first trimester down...and feel just a bit better as time goes on...
Hello Girls

AFM: Almost 10 weeks now, been a bit sick the last couple of weeks but not too horrendous no where near as bad as the tiredness anyway! Have my first OB tomorrow which is exciting.
Anyway better get to bed will try to blog better from now on.
Love
Bee (25) DH (31)
Hi Ladies,
I'm the new kid on the block! So nice to be in these threads! Have been dreaming about it for ages!
Still cant believe am PG, guessing it will take some time to sink in. Am still obssesively wiping (sorry if TMI) worried that blood will show up. I guess too many bfn's bring that on.
Feel like have become so knowledgeable in TTC and am here now, PG where i want to be and I dont know where to start and what to do.
I now have to wait 3 weeks for my 7 wk ultrasound - which cant wait for - so lots of killing time in between.
BBs are massive and sore which funnily enough am calling them 'my beacon of hope'. Its like that is my proof for my PG. Like my PG test and BT werent.
Have still been getting cramps in my uterus. Is this common gals.
Other than that OK, just heightened sense of smell.
I was also really surprised that my HCG levels were 1700. They said I probably could have tested 2 days earlier. Is this normal?
I guess I am going to be asking way too many questions and wont be able to help with anyone's at the moment!
Well bellyrubs all round and look forward to sharing the journey with you all!
Mon :)
Welcome Mon and a big Congratulations! :leap::hooray::bellyrubs:
That wait for your first US is a killer - but well worth it. Cramps in your uterus are common - in fact I am getting some still at the moment as baby is going through a growth spurt.
Wishing you a H&H pregnancy.
Janie xxx
Congratulations Mon!! How exciting! I had loads of AF-type cramps early on, perfectly normal but a bit disconcerting. Wishing you a marvellous pregnancy!
Sorry, I'm not up to personals today. Feeling a bit teary and emotional.
:bellyrubs: to everyone.
ETA - Possums, is your next scan tomorrow? If it is I'm wishing you all the best, and hoping for some great news.
Devon
xxxx
Mon - congratulations and welcome!!! Just so you know, I still check every time I wipe ... and yes, still get odd cramps and things, and I especially did a few weeks back. It is an exciting and nervous time being pregnant, when the journey here hasnt been easy. The ladies here are so helpful and supportive.
Devon-I had a teary emotional day yesterday...was at lunch with a friend and she said something which seemed to hit a raw nerve and I nearly burst into tears!
our scan is tomorrow at 9am. we get another confirmation our little Flicker is growing strong, despite these silly old slow-rising HCG levels of mine! Each week to me feels like another milestone...and another step closer to being into a safer zone
I have had headaches the last few days and felt a bit queasy today and BBs still really sore...I just keep talking to our little one and telling them how much I love them already and to keep growing nice and strong for mummy and daddy :bellyrubs:
Hi Mon - Welcome.
For me...
Early on (week 4 -5) I had really bad shooting pain "down there" - almost doubled over. But that passed.
No morning sickness at all until about 2 weeks ago, but only first thing - ok after I get up and have a cup of tea.
My boobs have their good days and their bad. Some time super sensitive and sore and then some days they feel completely normal. So don't stress if they calm down a bit.
I too have super sensitive smell - cannot even be in the same state as someone who had garlic and onion the night before. (ok - over exagerrating, but you know what I mean). Sensitive to both good and bad smells.
I have had a craving for chinese food - I haven't touch the stuff since I was a child. I'm normally a Thai/Indian curry girl - at the moment there is nothing more appealing than a big fat serve of sweet and sour pork, fried rice and san choi bow.
The first scan is both nerve wracking (the weeks leading up to it) and a joy. The first time you see the heart beat you will fall in love. Every time you see it after that you'll fall a little bit harder.
I'm super tired all the time and really need to start finding the energy to exercise otherwise I will be way way way overweight by May next year.
These are just my experiences so far - almost 11weeks - not that far along, but it feels like it has been ages.
Anyway- let us know when you have come up with a nickname for the little one.
All th best.
X
Possums - I'm going away from tomorrow morning, but will try my hardest to get on a computer to check how you go tomorrow.
I will be thinking of you and little flicker and sending you both heaps of love and luck.
Janie xxx
Woohoo Congrats again Mon! Those levels are absolutely fantastic and just show that your super emby is doing perfect and growing strong! The cramping is also normal i think i had it up until about 8 weeks, which doesn't help the wiping compulsion when it feels like AF is about to arrive! 3 weeks is a long time to wait for a scan you poor thing! And ask away! i am so happy you are here!
Nixon - I love those cravings! Yumm mine were nowhere near exciting fruit and olives.
Possums - Good luck tomorrow morning can't wait to hear how everything goes!
Devon- :hugs: ahh the joys, hope everythign is okay and they are just pregnancy hormones giving you a hard time, but huge hugs!
Janie - Hope your cramping eases up.
Luckystrike - Your shopping plan sounds perfect! How much longer until you hit 12 weeks?
Huge :bellyrubs: ladies and i hope everyone is having a good week.
Shan
Woo Hoo Mon, so great to see you in here
I check every time I go to the loo and almost hold by breath each time
As for the 3 weeks they will fly and when you see that heart beat for the first time it's something that you will never forget.
It is so great to finally be pregnant too but I agree that you learn soooooo much about TTC that when you are pregnant it's almost like walking in the dark.
You take care of yourself and that growing bubba and ask all the questions you want.
The ladies in here are the greatest.
AFM, seeing OB tomorrow afternoon so am really excited about that. Have no idea what happens at the first visit but I hope we can have another scan...
Will check in latter ladies for more personals...belly rubs to everyone!!
Thanks Janie and Shannon. Hope you are both doing well
Nicole- good luck with the Ob tomorrow.
Nixon- hope you are feeling OK
Welcome and congrats Mon! fantastic to see you over here! i so agree on the "knowing it all about TTC but lost about pg front" - i rang up today to get an appointment with the Dr we are thinking of going through - figured seeing i was told to have an appointment about 10 weeks to arrange NT scan, it was a good idea to book early. normally she only has about a week wait - but no, she's not avalable until Nov 17th!! so i've booked the appointment, but am unsure whether to go with her (the hosp she delivers through is 60k's away) or try to find someone more local (other hospy is 30ks) - but the dr we would have gone through there has left the area, and i'm clueless as to who to see! and seeing we dont' want to share with people IRL til after 12 weeks, it's bloody hard to find out who to go through!! grrrrrr
sorry for the lack of personals - feeling really tired today and can't seem to focus real well! names are getting jumbled in my head!
Possums - good luck tomorrow hunny.
BG
Glad to see Aunty Mon in here :cheer:
Possums good luck sweetie for tommorrow
AFM: Just had some ebay mat clothes arrive so bubs and I can be more comfy
This time next week we will be leave for the resort for my brithday
Congratulations Mon!! :D It's always lovely to see a LTTTC'er joining in!!
I think Buddy is having a growth spurt. Have had lots of aches and stretching pains the last couple of days and have been having way too many nana naps. No idea how I am going to go at work next week after 2 weeks off. Sorry for no personals. So tired I can barely think straight tonight. :(
Funny that we have been discussing it....the checking everytime we go to the loo.
Well, It's happened to me. The dreaded blood spot at 6 this morning. It's not a lot, but it's definitely there. I called the birthing suite as instructed by my OB. They said to hang tight and see if there is anymore/stops/gets heavier.
I'm trying not to panic - in fact trying not to think about it until it's time to go check again.
Nixon - I think it's way too early to panic - on these boards I've read lots of stories about spotting during the 1st trimester.
Nixon - Hang in there sweet it may go away quite soon
I've had nothing more so far. Not sure that I will be able to sleep too good tonight. *sigh*.
How is everyone else anyway? TL - did those maternity clothes go alright? I'm dubious about buying off the internet. I am pear shaped naturally and find it difficult to buy skirts, trousers, dresses because of my big-butt. How do you know the clothes will fit/look good?
Nixon - That sounds Postive :cheer:
Clothes went well need to go to 12-14 not all are a fit but tops and most pants have been ok. It has saved me some $$$$
Just a quick sneaky post from work...
MON!!! So happy to see you here! :o Must have missed something because it was a complete surprise to me, but I must say that it's an absolutely WONDERFUL surprise anyway!
Nixon, I hope the spotting goes away and never comes back. I had a small episode at 17 weeks that my OB could never find a source for it and there's been nothing since.
With maternity clothing... I've bought a lot online and had very few problems. Because they are generally much looser around the belly area getting them to fit is heaps easier.
BW
Thanks for the warm welcome ladies and to all those familiar ones: BW, TL, BG, Nic and Shann. So glad to hear all is going well with your PGs.
Looking forward to getting to know the rest of you and thanks for your tips. I think once I go for scan it will feel more real. I did another HPT this morning - just to get rid of the last one and was so nice to savour the 2 lines!!! Have at least made it further than last time, so already that is a good sign.
nix - hope the spotting goes away and is nothing to worry about. that would do my head in too.
Mon :)
Hi everyone. I am absolutely devastated. There was no heartbeat today, our darling baby has died. I can't describe the heartache I am feeling, the absolute loss. I can't imagine starting IVF all over again. I cant think much of anything except our sweet baby is gone...I loved it already. Now I either have to wait for a miscarriage or have a curette.
I am lost :crying:
sending love to our beautiful angel, who stopped growing at 8 weeks.
Nixon- I hope all's OK with you..glad the spotting stopped
i'm so sorry Possums - take your time to grieve hunny, and only move forward when you are ready to - don't let anyone tell you what time you should take - this is a heartbreaking and very personal grief
take care
BG
Oh Possums my heart aches for you and DH i am so incredibly sorry for the loss of your beautiful little baby. :comfort: We are all thinking of you, look after yourself.
Possums honey I am so sorry
Oh Possums my lovely. I'm so so sorry. I just don't know what to say....
It will not mean anything now, but you are strong and you have a lot of love to give. You will pick yourself up again when you are ready and you have had time to grieve. You will continue on because that's what we do - us women of the LTTTC. But you need to first allow yourself to scream and shout and cry and get angry and be sad. Try to take care of yourself while you do whatever it is you need to do to be ok.
I'm having a good old cry for you. I'll be thinking of you the next few days. If you need someone to talk to please let me know.
X
Possums I am so so sorry! I really dont know what to say, I felt pain in my heart when I read your post.
I hope that you will be OK soon, and find the strength to move ahead. We are all here for you!
