Sal, welcome back and congratulations again. Thanks for posting your birth story ... what a read! Miles is beautiful and looks very content!
Tam - I read your story too ... what an amazing effort from all concerned! A great outcome too with two lovely little ones. Hope the feeding is still going well.
Jo - I love the names you've chosen! You have a little family of Js happening it seems! Hope you are recovering well.
Congratulations Skye and Sheree and welcome! As you can see, there is a dire need of new members in here! Hope you both have happy and healthy pregnancies.
Sush - three weeks of work to go for you and about four for me. I can't wait! Finally getting on top of my work so it will be so nice to have that time to chill before the big day. Great names for your baby too ... can't wait to see which of the two it will be!
Nothing much happening here ... it's just Fluid Central. My feet are looking decidedly puffy due to the heat but everything else is otherwise okay. It's just gravity letting me know who's boss. Got Willmartin's dresser yesterday so can finally put all his clothes away. Only have two lay by purchases (one at Target and one at K Mart) to pick up and a cot mattress to buy and then I'm set. It's all happening ... have found a strange peace settling over me about the birth. I greatly appreciate the frankness of others in sharing their birth stories because I really think that complete honesty is the key. Personally, I believe that if women knew just to expect the unexpected in labour then they wouldn't torture themselves with guilt when it doesn't go to plan. That said, you know to expect a fully frank disclosure from me when the time comes!
Hope you are all having a restful (and not too hot) weekend.
Sal, great news about being home. I read your birth story and Tam's also and agree with Mel that it helps reading your honest, forthright stories. I have been stressing a bit about labour the last few weeks and whether DH will cope, but like Mel, am getting calmer about the whole thing now.
DH has done an about face in the last few days and is suddenly the one panicking about how little time we have to prepare. He's booked the car in for a complete overhaul, plus organised the capsule to be fitted in 4 weeks and now wants the baby furniture in sooner rather than later. I don't know what happened. I think maybe that magic 30 week mark is round the corner and it's suddenly hit him it's actually all going to happen. This change of heart has certainly made me more confident in him being there for me, so I think that's it.
Mel, I've absolutely had it with work, and am counting the minutes until I can leave. Always having liked helping people out at the helpdesk, now I'm feeling like yelling to most of my clients ,"don't be so bl**dy stupid!". In particular to those clients who call day after day about the same d*mned problems. I suspect my patience in generally is wearing thin, and that's a clear sign that it's time for me to leave, I think. It's good to see you won't be far behind, with shell hopefully hot on our heels.
Hello to everyone else. I'm a little grumpy in general today with having to be back at work tomorrow, but otherwise the weekend was quite nice, and I'm hoping you guys enjoyed yours too!
Oh I am so with u on that one Sush, as my job also entails in-hours & after-hours Help Desk. Eg: here's an example of same client, same employee ringing me aprx 2am on 2 diff occasions a few wks apart:
he rang to say his machine is frozen, but after further questions I found what he 'actually' meant was his monitor was black/blank. Said chk power to ur monitor & r there lights on it, he said it was fine, so said turn monitor off/on, so he turned CPU off/on instead & said didn't fix, then further questions revealed the monitor had no power (no green/red/orange light), so told him to try another pwr point, especially since he mentioned they'd had a pwr outage. We almost had a fight, coz he said the pwr pnt was fine, i kept saying plug it into another one, or plug something else into where the monitor was, a simple bl**dy test for someone to determine why no power to monitor. Eventually he did & he said, gees mate that works. I felt like saying, yeah no sh**. Anyhow, he rang later & I immediately told him to try another pwrpnt & had same argument with him & i said look i'm not going to help u anymore unless u at least try it, well what dya know, it works in another pwr point (another pwr outage). Ahhhhh. Hehehehe.
Lol shell! OMG so you do know what I mean! I can't believe how much patience I used to have! My questions range from computer hardware-related to program-related (our in-house database). This database has been in use 2 and a half years and I still get calls from people not knowing how to search something! It's Windows based. If you don't know you have to double click on something to bring it up, you shouldn't be employed to work on computers!
Yep Sush, u said it. Yeah ours ranges from hardware to software too, but our in-house databases were created many years ago (Unix/Linux) & are soon to be converted to sql databases (Windows) thank god, however some of our systems already use sql. Also includes Australiasia so sometimes have the added language barrier (indonesian, indian, french...), fun fun.
So Amy, looks like ur up next.
Sheree & Skyelar, I just posted in the announcements thread, but again, huge congrats.
Good to c u all u new mummies popping ur heads in here when u get a spare minute... hehe... :-)
Gee it's become much more quiet in here since some of our pg beauties have become mummies! Lol! Amy, where are you my sweet? I remember reading you were going to Dunedin for a scan, but can't recall anything re the verdict on the position of your placenta? Hoping you're okay and everything is going to plan.
Sheree and skye, I know it's early days yet, but spill the goss on what's been happening!
As for me, not much news on this front. I mentioned a while back that DH is now not sure of the name 'Benjamin' and yesterday was saying he likes the name 'Brendan' instead. Apparently Irish saint St Brendan of Birr went on a great 7-year sea journey to find the Promised Land of the Sanits. DH is suddenly very taken with the idea of the symbolism of this 'journey' and what we went through to have this baby. Of course, it may still be a Lila! Lol!
I can't say I love the name Brendan. I have two cousins who are Brendans and both were really naughty growing up! But I said he could pick the name, so who am I to argue? (except the mum of course!)
AARRGGGGHH baby names are really hard Sushee. My waters had broken with DD and as we are walking into the hospital we finally agreed on her name. I think the hardest thing is to agree. Good luck. My DH won't consider thinking about names until we find out the gender - makes it easier!
The goss with me, that I'm still stressing and hanging out for the 7w scan, which I assume will be around 13 feb.
Anyone want to compare beta hcg levels with me!!!
