Just a quick question to anyone 20 weeks plus who has experienced this...
..... Im getting this weird pinching feeling about 2 inches from my belly button.Sometimes it feels like a pinched nerve where you get that 'burnt' skin type of sensation.Peanut keeps kicking in that same spot too.I have made my next ante natal app a week earlier so i can get it checked out but still have a week til then.
I have googled but cant find much.Any help would be great.xx
So sorry for keeping you all hanging. Right now I am sitting in my room at the hosp in the pitch black darkness with a laptop my fav nurse smuggled in for me from the nurses quarters to use for half an hour. She took pity on me as I have been without internet since I last posted on friday night! I broke my lapy charger as a HUGE contraction hit as I was packing it up and I snapped the little thing off that does the charging.
So first things first - HE'S HERE! His name is Colt Jesse-Trapper and he was born by emergency Ceasearean just after midnight last friday night (so that was saturday morning). He weighed 2450g (5pound 8) and is a gorgeous little thing.
Unfortunately he has been in NICU since then and things have been very rough. *deep sigh* but he is a FIGHTER and is getting better and stronger by the hour.
What happened is absolutely crazy and VERY VERY RARE, so I dont want any of my preggo girls worrying.
The first issue was what happened when I got to the hosp. I arrived at 10pm and my contractions were 5 mins apart and I was 4cms dilated. They put the monitor on me and noticed that with every contraction, his heartrate stopped. TERRIFYING. So they called the OB in and the decision was made straight away to get him out. His cord was wrapped around his neck 2x but was also around his mouth, like a gag. The OB said it gave him a terrible shock as he had not seen that before.
Anyways they got him out ok and although he seemed small, he appeared to be ok. Everything went as normal and he was bathed and weighed and taken to my room for a feed. It was all good.
Then the blood results started coming in. I am A neg, Colt is O+ but I had the Anti-D so everything SHOULD have been ok. But its not. As most of you know, I had 3 ruptured ectopic pregnancies which necessitated IVF. 2 of those ectopics happened in NZ where not many people do IVF due to the costs involved over there. Well the NZ doctors decided that since I wasnt going to have any more babies because I had no fillopean tubes left, the Anti-D injection was not necessary for me and they DIDNT give it to me after either ectopics. This would be UNHEARD OF over here. So, because of this, I am one of the very very VERY rare women that has the rhesus negative antibodies and they have passed into my darling little baby

This would have started in-utero but my liver and the placenta was able to keep the levels right down and he was ok in there (but that could contribute his small birth weight) During the birth, my blood which is chock filled with those search and distroy anti-bodies flowed down the umbilical cord, straight into him and there was nothing to protect him anymore. After about 3 hours he started to go downhill badly. His blood sugar levels were horrendus which caused his blood pressure to drop dramatically and his bilirubin levels were absolutely THROUGH.THE.ROOF. They knew that we had different blood types and that can cause some of the symptoms they saw but NOTHING like what he experiencing. This is because situation is so rare now days (due to the anti-d injection) and the fact that my notes CLEARLY showed i had the anti-d shot at 32wks, they did not in a million years expect me to have the actual antiobodies. It took a few hours for it to be figured out where Colt just got sicker and sicker and sicker. Finally the bloods came back and the antibodies were discovered and things moved quickly from there.
Colt has been under 4 blue lights for the last 4 days and was fed via drip and my milk through a nose line. His biliruben was hovering at 280 and has been going steadily up every day He was expected to have a total blood transfer when the level hit 300 and it was tentatively scheduled for tomorrow morning.
Today however, HE DROPPED TO 240 AND CAME DOWN TO 2 LIGHTS! No one could believe it, he seemed to just turn a corner. I think its my milk
I held him, changed him and gave him a quick breastfeed FOR THE FIRST TIME. It was SO amazing. I am crying typing this.
We are praying his levels will continue to drop and we will be able to take him home early next week. I am sooooooo excited to just be able to hold him and look at his face whenever I want. (his face has been covered to protect his eyes from the lights)
He is a wonderful little munchkin and doesnt cry or complain about all the drips and tubes and lights and 5 heel *****s a day, or any of the other godawful stuff he goes through every day. I cannot tell you all how much I adore him. (you all know though, cos you feel the same about your wee ones)
So thats the update. I am well, c-section healing, holding up and trying to stay strong for my little Colt.

Oh Sammie, big hugs to you what an ordeal. I'm glad Colt is on the mend and you can hold him in your arms, fingers crossed he continues to get better so you can take him home ASAP.
I'm O neg and DH is A pos so I'll be praying even harder the chicklet is negative like me.
I'm at home again today, I think it's gone to my sinuses, this is how my last sinus infection started, with a few days of headaches, so going to stay hone and hopefully prevent it from turning into a full on attack.
Wantbaby - I haven't had that but are there midwives at your OB clinic you can ask? The ladies at my clinic are great and happy to answer any questions.
Bloody hell Sammie - what a stressful few days for you and DH. Did he get there in time? My heart was in my mouth reading your post, I'm so pleased to hear he's turned the corner and should be able to come home with you.
I give thanks and praise that we are born in this century and in a Western country. If we lived in a hut in Burkino Faso or in 1810, it would be awful to think about what would happen in anything other than a standard birth. Although having said that, none of us would be pregnant without IUI/ IVF so.... But I'm so grateful for you, the medical attention sounds like it was great when you really needed. Phew. Give that lovely baby a cuddle from us all.

Wow,what an experience and a half! You poor thing.You must have been so worried.He sounds like he is a tough little guy. Lastnight on RPA they had a pregnant woman who is going through the RH thing.They are going to inject blood into the fetus to protect him from becoming too anaemic.She is 24 weeks.Anyhow it was interesting hearing about it.
Your story sounds like a huge shock to the system.Im soooo happy that Colt is coming along nicely.Being able to feed and hold him must mean the world to you.I cant imagine what it must feel like.Anyhow Congratulations on your little mans arrival.Wishing you and bubs all the best.It sounds like the drs are caring for him very well and with your love he will be just fine.Im glad to hear from you.We have all been waiting eagerly and am sure i speak for all of us when i say CONGRATULATIONS and Lots of Love.Love Alicia and Peanut. xoxox
