Hee, hee, hee. Oh you girls are very funny. I need a good laugh. I'm not allowed to have sex for the first 12 weeks - doctors orders - not that I have ANY libido. But the insensitive comment from DH the other day was "We're not having sex for the next nine months, are we?" I mean, as if it's going to kill them! Honestly, if they were the ones responsible for procreation, the human race would have been extinct years ago I reckon
Lise~ Did i hear you utter my husbands EXACT words.....sex,whats that? hahaha....i hear that ALL the time from him.
Off to antenatal class now.Tonight we are Practicing breast feeding..hmmmm.Not sure how thats gonna work. The men are being separated for a 'guys only' class.Even more intriguing.
xx
we did that last week in antenatal, I dropped the doll whilst breast feeding and laughed (nervously, honestly) and everyone looked at me like I was a child killer and wondered when to start ringing Social Services to dob me in...
Hey BOC, love the photos of JD, he's getting so big, and what a cheeky grin!!
Sorry for scaring you Wantbaby by echoing your DH!
Brunette - it's funny, in my house I'M the one hassling DH and he's the reluctant one. Well he doesn't get a choice from next week onwards as i've decided that from 37 weeks i'll be doing everything I can do bring on labour...!
I haven't had the breastfeeding workshop yet, that's next week for me. I'm going to feel like a right goose as I don't have a life sized doll to bring so it will have to be a teddy for me
OOOOH MINXINGTON! Game on in your house!!! We wake up to ABC Classic FM and the music was Prokoviev's Romeo and Juliet - it's really pounding dramatic rum-ti-tum music, even if you didn't know it, most people know the tune. Anyway, I was cuddling up to DH when it came on and was sort of halfheartedly rubbing his back, when he pointed out that I was basically beating him in time to the music.... not quite as romantic as I had planned ha ha ha
(ps at my antenatal they provided the doll.... are you sure you need to take one?!)
I know the tune, how funny!! Oh we're ultra romantic in our house - DH has started hugging my from a side on position as he reckons it's too hard with my belly in the way
Yes, we have been asked to bring something along (if possible) so I might just have to say I forgot as I really don't want to breastfeed a teddy bear, even if it's good practice for positioning!
I'm lucky to get a hug these days from DH as feels poorly done by because he's got to work full time and then come home and be nagged by me to do the backyard (all dirt and no turf yet; plus need small retaining wall built) or put things away in the garage so that finally after about 4 weeks I can park my car in the flaming garage! Yet he still expects me to be in the mood to take care of his needs. I told him to find some vaseline! Charming, aren't I?
Lise, I clicked on your facebook link. It's great to have a photo of when you're so far along for keepsake. You look great and very healthy. I can't imagine your DH having any problems with your plans now that you're 37 weeks and decided to bring things forward Is it a furphy as well that spicy foods ie curry etc also help to bring on labour?
These antenatal classes sound interesting. Londonmiss, you made me laugh with everyone turning around to look at you when you dropped the doll! I think I'll struggle to get my DH to attend as he already has three daughters but I will be pushing! Lise, I think bringing a teddy bear along will be a great laugh.
Hello to all the other lovely ladies out there, too!
So not at all pregnancy related, but i'm very excited to report a win against Country Road today! Now i'm a bit of a handbag addict and have many many bags, a number of which come from Country Road. The handle of my absolute favourite handbag broke a few weeks ago and I took it back to CR to ask them to fix it - they said they'd take it to their repair person and let me know. Didn't hear anything so went in today only to be told that because it's over 12 months old it's considered usual wear and tear and they weren't going to do anything about it. I got a little cross at this and (I don't THINK I was rude!!) said that I had many handbags which I rotate, and all my CR bags have broken handles and that I wouldn't be buying any more (yeah right!!!). She reiterated her 'wear and tear' policy and I reiterated that I have MANY handbags and that I certainly don't use the same one all the time, and that I would not be buying another one as they obviously don't last. She finally gave in and offered to have it fixed which I gratefully accepted. So yay for me
Apologies if you don't care about handbags at all but as you can see i'm a tad excited!
Brunette - tell DH he'd better get used to it, hehehe...
Oh I am sooo lucky, my DH doesn't even mention the lack of sex. He does just about everything he can to help me without a word of complaint given how much he works as well. I am so grateful because I've been hit with the tired stick very suddenly and it's all gotten just so much harder to move lol.
Finally got over the darn cold that layed me flat for 4 days, only to get whacked with the stick, glad I didn't think pregnancy was all sunshine and lollipops!!
I can't believe how close some of you are to the end, which is very exciting... I can't wait to make it to the scan next week really.. still seems so darn far away.
I promise personals again, but I'm just useless atm. So very sorry everyone.
S'rose, you are soooo lucky. Mine mentioned it again this morning - you know, are we ever going to ... Because I've had a difficult start to my PG with modified bed rest and docs orders of no sex till at least week 12, it's not like I don't have a good excuse/reason. But I must admit to still being scared about anything damaging the bubs after such a scary start so we'll see. Honestly, you'd think it would fall off if not used or something!
Your DH sounds wonderful. How long till your first scan? Will DH be with you?
Hi Ladies,
I'm new to this group. I got my BFP on Thursday with a Hcg of 300 and then confirmed on Sunday when it went up to 2,000. We were thrilled. DH and I are now scared though as last night I had cramping stronger than usual that lasted about half an hour. I went to the toilet to pee and there was quite a smear of red blood on the paper when I wiped, like AF had arrived. (Sorry if TMI) It pretty much stopped at that and I haven't had cramps or bleeding since. We drove to the clinic this morning for another Hcg/ progesterone check and are waiting for results. I'm so scared that our pregnancy has ended early. Has anyone else experience bleeding in the early stages. I am now 20 days post transfer.
Maggie
Maggie, I had a similar thing with the blood (like light AF) at 14dpo and again at 15dpo (but brown this time). I also had some mild cramping from about a week before that until a couple of days after. I've had some more brown spotting since. Your hcg numbers are great, so FX everything is still on track and it's just from your little bean settling in.
Hello Maggie. I hope the result goes ok, I didn't have any but plenty of people did in this list. Go back and read this one and perhaps the one before for further encouragement... I really hope all is well and it was just a temporary settling thing in. But congratulations anyway, and remember you are pregnant until proven otherwise. Good luck x
Lise - well done on the handbag win! I can't stand stupid excuses like that, a handbag ought to last way longer than that unless you actually knit it yourself out of pasta.
Just come back from my 33 week midwife appt (where hilariously I found 4 people from my antenatal class, its the most social thing I've been to in weeks!), and promptly had a nose bleed which is slightly curious. I came back most of the way in a taxi and then stopped off in a cafe, and studied. And I'm afraid I had 4 cups of tea, one water, a mushroom croque with salad, and finished it up with three macaroons (two coffee and one orange) but lets pretend that two were for me and one for the baby.... And then I walked all the way home with some tulips in the sunshine.. happy. Hope you are all well.
Welcome, Maggie. As LondonMiss says, lots of us in this thread have had bleeding - red and brown - throughout. I had about 3 anxiety-free days since getting my BFP and from then on I had bleeding and many scans and FS visits. Basically been ordered on home/modified bed rest till week 12. It is tough but I will be week 11 this Friday - hard to believe. Some women I know (my first cousin is one) have spotting/bleeding throughout their entire PG. I know how scary it is, but as Juniper says your Hcg levels are really great. I won't say "try not to worry" because I know how easy it is for others to say that and how hard it is for the individual going through the worry/concern to simply not worry, esp when most of us here have been TTC for quite a while.
LondonMiss, I have a question for you given the whole listeria discussion earlier and your aunt etc. I have been literally craving a pizza from this pizza cafe in Redcliffe since before I was pregnant. I think the family will be going there for my dad's birthday relatively soon. The pizza I adore has fetta and pepperoni on it (as well as olives, chili, basil, tomato - oh I am salivating now) but it comes out obviously well and truly cooked. Do you reckon it would be okay? Sorry, not trying to put you in the position of a doctor now, but I figure if it's totally cooked .... should be fine; yes?

Hmmm - that's an interesting question. I suppose pizza toppings are warmed-up-previously-cooked-things, rather than actually cooked freshly if you know what I mean so I'm not sure. I'm a v strict veggie so I'm not sure I'd take my own advice on pepperoni, but I'd probably be a bit cautious on that. Simply because I am not sure it would actually be cooked, as opposed to just hot. However, I have been classifying feta as a hard cheese and eating it the whole time, although to be balanced must add that Lise has been told its a soft cheese, and if you take that advice, I'd say only eat it if it's hot.
Sorry, re-reading that, I don't think that's terrifically helpful, and it depends rather on the quality of the venue. My cousin who also does the same job as my auntie (cooking for them is a nightmare) always goes onto her council website before she goes out for dinner - God my family are exciting aren't they - and you can check out (in the UK anyway but I'm sure its the same here) what the last food hygeine inspector found. If its a dire tale of food being left out of the fridge, ****roaches and rats, then I'd stick to bread sticks : )
wantbaby#2 how did you class go? Are you doing them thorugh St George Private? We start our next week. Oh i cant wait!!!!! lise im with you. Sometimes im the one asking for it. Not usually the case but DH gets worried that it might affect bub in some way and so is a little reluctant at times too. LOL at bf a teddy. Would definitely be a good laugh. Well done on the win against CR! Sonya glad to hear your cold has cleared. I can just imagine how anxious you must be for your appointment. I will be asking my obs on Tuesday when and if i get another scan. I love scans. Maggie CONGRATULATIONS on you BFP! I have everything crossed for you. Hope you come back to us later with some wonderful news. LondonMiss sounds like a wonderful day indeed. Lucky you. However with all that tea and water, you might be getting very friendly with the toilet this arvo.. haha. Brunette throughout my whole pregnancy i have been of the belief that if you really really feel like something, as you do with the pizza, you should not deprive yourself and just have it. Obviously those no no foods should be avoided in the sense of not eating them everyday but it's an old wives tale that you do more harm than good by depriving yourself of a craving. So personally i would go out and enjoy it!
Have been feeling lots of movement and pains down low, almost like she is grinding on my bones in my pubic region (if that makes any sense) so wondering if she is trying to get into position. I realise its still early but i cant think of what else it would be. Looking forward to Obs appointment on Tuesday and then our first antenatal class next Thursday!
Maggie - welcome on board! Sorry to hear you're experiencing some bleeding that's making you anxious, I have no experience with that so can only echo what the others have said already xx
Brunette - regarding the feta, most websites say it's okay to eat higher risk cheeses if they're cooked thoroughly and served hot, but also depends on how it was sourced and packaged. So i'd eat feta on a pizza i'd cooked myself and I bought individually packaged, but I wouldn't eat feta sitting in a deli if that makes sense?
S'rose - hope you're feeling a bit better soon.
I'm a bit tired and lazy at the moment myself, I really need some motivation to get out of the house and do something. I'm a bit contrary though - i'm going out to dinner and the movies tonight (to see SATC2 as it's my SIL's birthday and she's a mad fan!) but I don't like some of the other girls who are going along and am tempted to cancel. Very silly of me - i'd only stay at home and feel sorry for myself for having no life!!
