We just had our scan done and got to see our lil monkey!! 3D scans are amazing!! Everything is great there is a 1 in 17000 chance of downs. It was stubborna and wouldn't get into the right spot so i had to go for a walk and jump around a bit. It still only stayed in that spot for a few seconds, the lady had to be quick!! Also remind me never again to think that my MS has gone anywhere, i think it is here to stay somehow!

Juniper - yep, it's perfectly normal not to see your OB until 12 weeks. And after that even though they usually say they'll see you every 4 weeks don't be surprised if they suggest no visits until 20 weeks. From personal experience I would still request a visit at 16 weeks as for us paranoid LTTTCers it's a long time between visits from 12-20, and until the baby is moving around it can be hard to believe everything is still going okay. As for the referrals, no worries for your GP to refer you to your OB, they shouldn't need proof, and it doesn't matter who refers you to the NTS as long as you have one.
Renee - glad you had your scan and all is well! I've had to jump up and down a bit in my scans too, so you're not alone in having a stubborn little one
Thanks to everyone for their nice words, it does help to make me feel better though of course i'm still as impatient as ever. And I keep receiving emails from women in my mother's group who are having their babies early...

Paula thanks for your words on it maybe not being twins. It's not ideal for us to have twins given I am not very big and we have a 14 month old (she'll be 22 months by then), but I feel like with such high numbers I have to prepare myself and DH and as the days pass I am slowly getting used to the idea. I am only just pregnant of course, but as we all know, time can go by so quickly (except when you are waiting for the baby to arrive of course Lise!)
Juniper - my FS had already sent the info to my doc when I went to get my referral, don't worry too much as they will just do an HCG at the doctors if they don't have what they need or can call the FS's office while you are there so they are covered. One thing you might consider if you are a bit of a stresser (as I think we all are after LTTC'ing) is getting a doppler. I bought one when I was pregnant with my DD, it cost me $100 online and I used it from about 12 weeks until the end as I had a lazy little bunny who didn't move that much. I checked with my OB that it wasn't doing any damage to the baby, and he said no it wouldn't. Just gave me peace of mind.
Looks like there are a few of you about to give birth - how exciting, although of course I am sure you wish it would all be over sooner rather than later!
wow Renee - 1/17,000 that's awesome!! did they give you disk so you could check out all the photos at home, and email them off to family and friends? What was the crown rump length? Sorry your MS is sticking around
Lise - what about those things like raspberry leaf tea, or other herbs that bring on contractions? although I'm sure you've probably tried all of that by now anyway!!
Juniper, I had a scan at about 7 weeks but then again my FS is now by OB so it kind of made it easy (and I had some bleeding a few days before so I was a bit of a mess, maybe they did the scan just to placate me?). Then a scan around 10 weeks, then the nuchal at about 12.5weeks. I wouldn't have been able to remain calm without having those scans.
Okay long-termers in here, help me out with what to expect at a normal 4week OBs appt? I walked in with DH, sat down, he asked if we had any questions? No. Okay lie over there and let's take BP, sweet 120/70. Okay let's check out the belly, put the doppler on lower abdomen and confirmed heartbeat still going strong (still quick 160 BPM), pushed into abdomen and felt uterus, great it exists. OK. Right, so no other questions? Okay yes, I've been getting a bit faint and dizzy, is that normal? Just make sure you drink lots of water. Okaaaay. $70 and over within 10 minutes. - What questions should I be asking coz I'm feeling a bit ripped off here!?
For anyone booking into Nth West Hosp @ Everton Park: found out this morning that even though I had filled in the pre-admission paperwork that the OB gave me, and sent it in, that you ALSO need to fill in an online form. (even though when you go online it actually says fill in EITHER the paperwork your doctor gave you OR do it online). Just an FYI in case you get caught like I did. Also left them a voicemail about the antenatal classes, thinking of doing the Saturday morning ones if there are spaces.

Chrissy - sounds exactly like my OB appointments!! At first I was a bit miffed but eventually I realised that short visits were actually good because it means everything is fine and there are no problems. I know for us worry worts we're used to being fussed over but this is one instance where shorter is better because it means your OB has no concerns, so don't feel like you're being ripped off!!
laridoz - I know its hard but try and enjoy every moment and don't listen too much about other people because every prgnancy is different and you will experience different things.
Just a quick one from me have been in hospital getting fluids have had a rough couple of days!! Feeling ok now have been given maxalon and panadine for migraines. Was a bit hesitant about the panadine but have been reassured it is perfectly safe. Feel so bad when sick that it is hurting bub but like they say it is hurting them more if i'm not eating or drinking. Have a lovely weekend all!!!
Sorry to hear that you ended up in hospital Renee! poor thing! But hopefully bub got what it needed.

I have our tour of the maternity ward and rooms tomorrow, at Nth West, and have secured my spot for the antenatal classes in October! One more thing I can cross off the list :-)

BUT - think I am having the bloody show! Went to the toilet before and there is pink on my pad and on the toilet paper. It's not thick enough for blood and doesn't look like mucous but assuming that's what it is though not sure if I should ring the midwives to confirm??? Have some cramping but nothing different from before.

Renee - great news about your scan, and what wonderful odds! Congratulations. Got my scan next week, don't think its 3D though, I'll ask my OB if I can squeeze one in at some stage... it sounds so wonderful.
Juniper - I only booked into my OB at 8 weeks coz my FS said to organise one, and then the OB said I may as well come in, as they had space for me. Must admit it was nice to see him early, but I felt a little silly going so early! Ah well. As for referrals, your GP shouldn't have any issues with it at all (I had to specifically request a repeat beta HCG from my GP as I was worried about my levels, she wouldn't have done it otherwise). Best to get an OB referral from your GP, as one from the FS will only last 3 months.
LondonMiss - hope glenny_c's theory is right! FX for you.
Paula - great news about your GTT! Hopefully I'll follow in your footsteps, being a fellow PCOS girl... not holding my breath though.

We're gonna tell DH's brother and sister-in-law about the pg later this week - DH has flatly refused to tell anyone til after 12 weeks, so this is very exciting. We've lied to them both over the last few weeks, its getting harder to keep the secret! Especially as we've found out we're telling different lies... oops!

Juniper- I had a couple of early scans but they were through my fs (who is also my Ob) Friends of mine who have fallen without any assistance don't see the ob until 12 weeks and some didn't even go until the 19 week scan so all sounds normal to me
AFM- Trying not to stress at the moment. Two of the girls from my belly buddies group have had losses over the past few days. One was at 9 weeks and had her first scan, they found two gestational sacs but nothing inside. The other started bleeding at 11 weeks and they found that the bub had stopped growing two weeks before. It's just made me more anxious to get this scan next week and see that everything is alright! I have been fairly symptom free all 12 weeks so at the moment I am clinging to the sore boobs and slightly popped tummy to reassure me. I'm sure everything is fine but just can't wait to see those pics!!!
Renee- 3D scans sound amazing!!! I just can't wait for the next normal one next week and to see my little bubs again!!!
Lairdoz- Wow! Huge congratulations! Don't worry too much about twins. I had two frosties put in and my second Beta was over 2,000. DH and I were convinced it would be twins but scan showed only 1 heartbeat. Looks like the only thing Hcg levels are good at predicting is pregnancy itself. Relax and enjoy.
Lise- I was hoping you'd have some relief by now. Am hoping it happens any moment for you now.
Juniper76- We've been left adrift a bit after our 6 week scan. I've chosen the Royal Women's as my hospital and they don't see women until something like week 14 or 16 so my GP is organising the nunchal tests for me. FS did the 6 weeks scan and said I could go back to her for the 12 week if I want but I'll stick with my GP now because it's more convenient. So what you're experiencing sounds about right. I get the impression that you're going private though so I'm not sure how it works if you have your own OB.
AFM- MS got intolerable yesterday- vomitting day and night and unable to go to work. We'll I did actually go to work yesterday but left at 10:00 because I felt so green. I was scared driving all the way home and barely made it through the door before my head was in a bucket again. Doctor has now put me on Maxolon to help me keep down food and fluids. I wish I didn't have to but can't go on being this heaving zombie any more.

Renee, sorry to hear you've still got MS. At a doc's appt on Monday, this lady had her head between her legs for about half an hour and a scarf over her head. Must have been MS. Really felt for her. 3D scans are amazing, aren't they? Did you get a DVD of the scan?
Maggie, again, can only sympathise with your MS. It sounds horrible.
CK, I know what you mean about the forms for North West. I've done the online and the hard copy, too. Plus called and left a message with the hospital. I have booked in for my antental classes and due to having twins and the likelihood of not carrying to term, I booked early. I am going to Saturday afternoon classes starting 4 September. On the down-low, my FS said that from week 25 he wants me to give up work so I figured best to have some knowledge in case I'm surprised and they come early, or I'm too huge to attend Apparently NWPH is getting a new maternity wing that they're hoping will be finished by December. I hope so, too! November would be good. So have you got Tisan as your OB?
Glenny, scans are great because they are very reassuring. I am sure you will be fine and everything is going great. I had many, many scans in my 12-week period because of all my bleeding and problems, and I will be 14 weeks tomorrow.
Paula, what a relief to get a good scan and also a good GTT. Why the link between PCOS and gestational diabetes?
Lise, you still hanging in there? I really feel for you, but I'll be the opposite when I get to where you are (FX), as I'll be crossing my legs and wanting my twins to stay in me for as long as they can as I don't want them in special care or NICU. Is DH still being stubborn and holding out? I was on doctor's orders of no sex till week 12. At my appointment this week (his last day before hols so and in the afternoon so not good timing as he was in a hurry to get through all of his patients and be on his way!) he did a quick scan, tried to talk politics to my partner (I'm like, do you mind; I'm here to talk about the babies) answered a few questions and that was it. He doesn't want to see me again till another month. Scary but everything seems to be fine, and sex is back on the menu. Except I'm scared it's going to hurt the babies! Anyhoo ... sorry if TMI but this morning after the doing the deed, my stomach (which is definitely starting to show) was tilted on one side; looked like they'd moved to the right and it freaked me out. Also, I've been getting these pains on my left side a fair bit lately; hard to know whether it's growing pains and uterus getting bigger or if problem. How do you know? Help!
Juniper, my FS who is also my OB gave me the referral for the NT scan and the 20-week scan really early on, but getting a referral from your GP shouldn't be a problem. Where does your OB deliver?
Leabie, GL for your scan, not that you'll need it. It is really amazing. I bet you can't wait till you can tell everyone. Not long now.
