oh ww i can really feel your pain in that post. i know what you are feeling, especially at that stage when it feels like it's never going to end and you're not going to get your prize.
But have faith, your body does not what it's doing... look it grew that baby!!! I was also told i'd be induced with DS on a Monday... I was told on the thursday before hand woke up at 1.30am the friday in labour. I didn't have any 'signs' or prelabour or anything nor did my waters break. I felt all fat and uncomfy and just 'normal' when going to bed... and then a few hours later it was fully established labour.. .and just 7 hrs after htat Ashton arrived! So it really turns on a dime.
Mind you i think the fact that two cocharoaches and then a spider tried to murder me in the bathroom just before bed time helped ... i hate creepy crawlies and got the fright of my life.
I hope things get moving on their own before you get induced. I think so long as you are empowered with knowledge and understand what's happening and why, you and your docs will make the right decisions for you and your bub. Just remember this is about you and your baby - not other's expectations; a 'right way' or 'wrong way'; or doctors' schedules, so just try to focus on that if you can. and i don't think anyone else's birth decisions are open for debate, whether or not they are the ones I'd choose for me. We all do the best we can and the best for our child.
I'm not sure if any of that helps. i really really dreaded the thought of induction as well, more cos i was despereate for my body to "work" and to have the empowerment of having my baby myself without having to resort to medical help iykwim not cos i'm for or against induction...
LOL I had to giggle at your description of your carpal tunnel hands... one of my friends at school used to refer to his chubby fingers as "cherio (baby frankfurts) fingers".
sendign you lots of hugs and for once, "get out of your mumma'' vibes![]()
WW- thinking of you, you have to look after yourself and do what is right for you...hang in there and good luck, looking forward to happy news from you soon
mindhugs- glad today is a slightly better day for you...interesting about the effect of the different hormones...my progesterone has been very high, and i have had no vomitting, just all day feeling queasy, which has now pretty much passed (I still cant eat certain things). I hope it eases for you soon
afm- we are still so relieved and happy after our scan yesterday :-) it's so surreal and amazing to know what is going on in there!...but of course, we are still cautious. to be honest, it actually bugs me when I get comments from people who know, like "oh well you can relax now, all will be fine"... because I am high risk, they dont know that all will be fine, I personally think it is reasonable for me to have some level of caution and extra concern and it makes me feel like I am somehow being a drama queen for not being more relaxed about it all. One lady said "you can start decorating the nursery now"...well no, I am certainly not ready for that. I ended up telling her quietly how we were still being cautious due to my risks etc. then i felt maybe I had said too much. anyway! thats just my little vent today. pf course DH and I are thinking positive and trying to be in the moment, but still.
possums - DH and I have a little joke when one annoys the another... we say "shud upa ya face" like that silly song (i know we are so nice to each other lol)! don't you just wish you could say that to some people then walk away! lol.
Possums - people say stuff that seems perfectly ok to them. I am like you, still high risk. I read in another thread today of someone who unfortunately miscarried their baby at 13 weeks 4 days and she suffered from very low progesterone. So that kind of freaked me out, but a reminder that just because I'm over 12 weeks doesn't mean we are out of the woods yet. I am gonna stay on the disgusting Crinone until 14 weeks at least and check with the Dr again then.
My MIL keeps saying (already...) "You won't know what hit you when this baby comes you know, it's not easy". Oh really? What a surprise to know that. I actually thought it was a breeze raising a child, you know like we won't even really notice any difference to our routine or anything......... Geez I'm gonna welcome the hard work it takes particularly after 4 years of trying, 4 miscarriages, all the laparoscopy's, IVF cycles, emotional rollercoasters etc.
People say the darndest things! I can't wait for ALL the advice people are going to inflict on me about how to be a mum. Ha ha ha - I hope that doesn't sound sinister, it's not meant to be,more sarcastic![]()
Hi Girls
Just a quickie from me.... I'm into double digits.. 99 days until my due date today (although I really only have 89 days until my c/s) but now I'm on the downward side of things and very soon I'll be in the 3rd trimester. Where did that time go???
kelly- wow 99 days!
mindhugs- i know what you mean! :-) And i also realise people say things they think are positive, sometimes I just feel defensive and things niggle. gotta learn to roll with it, lol
grub- i love the joke you and your DH share...i find if you can tease each other in an argument it always breaks the tension :-)
Thanks everyone for kind words. It does help.
I am really uncomfortable with hands, so just quick post.
Take care all,
WW
All the best worry wart i hope you have your precious bundle by now. If not good luck for tomoz!!!
oh ww good luck tomorrow if bub doesn't come of it's own accord before then. Remember nothing to be scared of ... you can trust your body! Hope to see your birth arrival announcement soon love... oxoxoxoxoxoxoxo (typed with fingers that don't hurt!)
Hi everyone,
WW, Goodluck for tomorrow. I wouldn't worry about being induced. I was induced with my daughter because she was between 17 days and 1 day overdue (I had 2 due dates and even after she was born they couldn't decide how far overdue she was!). The only issue I had with it was I had to be hooked to a monitor as the contractions were so strong that her heart kept stopping so they had a fetal heart monitor attached to me to make sure her heart started again all the time. The machine measured the strength of the contractions too and they were way over what was normally considered the "strongest contractions"! Anyway she arrived healthy and safe with no complications and was in my arms within moments of coming out so I wouldn't be worried about doing it again if need be.
AFM - we arrived back in Oz this morning after a very early start to leave New Zealand. Our 10 days there were fun but I have been becoming more and more anxious about this baby. I feel detached and I'm not sure if this is a normal response to the fact it has taken so long to get to this point and maybe it's my body's way of protecting me in case something goes wrong or just a response because I can't believe it has finally worked (I started this journey in Dec 2006). I'm now worried that I'm heading towards anti-natal depression. I'm also really worried that something is wrong with the baby. I have the NT scan on Tuesday. I still haven't vommitted at all (just had a few moments of queaziness each day). With my daughter I was chucking my guts up every day all day from around 10 weeks to 20 weeks of pregnancy and I'm 13 weeks tomorrow.
Lori
DD - 14yrs
WW, thinking of you! looking forward to hearing some happy news from you soon
lori- glad you had a good trip...sorry you are feeling so anxious though...i think detachment is a form of protection when it's been hard to fall pregnant etc. just remember every pregnancy and its symptoms is different, and i have also had friends who were very sick with one, and ok with the next. Best of luck for your scan today.
afm- it feels like an eternity until my next scan at 18 weeks (although if i really panic i can call my ivf nurse/midwife and she will let me come in for an extra scan)....my next clinic appt is next week, and i will at least get to hear the heartbeat then. I feel all is going Ok though. I am trying to go with it! had a great weekend camping by the beach with DH so that was a good mini break. bought some more stretchy clothes yday ;-)
WW: I hope you are holding your little bundle by now and enjoying those newborn snuggles.
Dream: I agree with Possum's every pregnancy is so different that trying to compare them will drive you crazy. Hope your scan went well and that has put your mind at rest..
Possum: Yay for stretchy pants, I had to get some more Maternity tops (Extra Large) as I have started growing out of the ones I had with DD. I really didn't want to get any more as we are planning no more babies after these 2 but I had to bite the bullet and I told DH that I will be able to wear them for a little while once the boys arrive as I'm sure to have the residual tummy for a little bit. I also went to target and got 4 pairs of black leggings, I always just buy normal sizes in pants and roll the band under my belly (although I got 1 size bigger than I normally wear for comfort) and I will live in them once the boys arrive so that justified the expense - although I used a gift voucher I got for my birthday to buy them so no cost to me yay...
How's everyone else travelling, with WW hopefully holding her baby who does that make next??? Is it you Jaki & then Airline...
Hi everyone,
Thanks for the reassurances regarding my concerns about feeling detached etc.
I had the NT scan today. The guy doing it was quite a character - cracking a lot of jokes along the way. Anyway baby is measuring exactly right for my dates and every thing seems fine (stomach, bladder and heart in right places etc). I'm a little concerned the neck measurement (for the NT test) was a little bigger than what we had been told to expect so I hope it's not anything too serious. I've been told it could take a week for me to get the combined blood test and scan results back. I hope it doesn't take that long as I've been getting quite stressed.
Lori
Lori i didnt 'bond' with my baby until 30+ weeks. It can be very upsetting. I felt like i was destined to be a bad mum and have depression.
lori- glad the scan went well, and fingers crossed the results are fine too
afm- DH and I are obviously thrilled but also slightly terrified about becoming parents, and hoping we will do a good job and that our relationship will hold up ok! I wonder how I will cope as a new mum...it is an exciting, and also a scary time I think..well for me anyway, lol
possums - dh and I got a bit ratty at each other when bub was about 8 weeks old. we were both tired and short-fused and just found we were bickering a lot. It all came to a head one day and finally resulted in us talking through it... things improved from there. So it's not all a bed of roses and being a parent is so so so so much harder than i ever thought (yeah and all that gushy rewarding/loving stuff too lol) but it definitely changed our relationship, particularly at first. I think DH had a hard time adjusting to being number 2 to DS. But as with all things, communication was the key... and time to adjust!
I think scared and excited all at once is pretty normalI feel the same atm too! how in the smeg i'm going to handle 2 under 2! Kelly you must be packing your pants
- only joking, i know you are a great mum to tara and will take it all in your stride
Lori - try not to stress yourself love. remember it's just a ratio, even if it comes back at higher than you hoped, it doesn't mean anything is set in stone, it's a mathematical equation based on a few factors they can measure. But I'm sure it'll be fine, big hugs! hope the results come in soon.
Yeah where is airline??? hmmm good news i hope.
WW - hope those sore hands are holding a beautiful baby
Jaki --..... oooohhhhh so close!
Well bub started moving heaps lately and then the other night went quiet. I totally freaked out quietly and got myself all stressed for several hours... then the party started and I had a big cry to DH and admitted i've been plagued with terrible worries etc. I felt so much better and have been heaps better since... helps that someone is holding daily bladder parties!!! My hope that this babe, unlike DS, might be all tranquil and quiet have been dashed already lol.
But i think i'm carrying very low as even sitting on the lounge or a chair just normally is rather uncomfy!
OMG i drank close to three litres of milk in the past 36 hours!!! strawberry flavoured - of course lol.
Grub, thanks, I always love to hear from you. Glad you have all that movement (sounds wonderful, even if uncomfy sometimes) and glad you could talk to DH about your worries, always helps. I seem to keep demanding more from poor DH lately ;-) I think DH and I expect things to be hard once this little one is born.. DH is a bit freaked out too, happy of course, but scared too. and yum strawberry milk :-) I am so hungry at the moment! trying not to pig out too much and eat well, but some days I just seem to graze all day :-)
jaki- you are very close now :-) how are you doing?
a big hi to everyone else
