mh--- look at that ticker!!! 16 weeks!! wow that went fast! lol. nothing like a carpark vom to make you feel like a lady!!! lol.
jaki - hahaha that's a classic!
oh and while my ms disappeared about 16 weeks, it's sort of come back in the form of regular and quiet disgusting 'throat voms' uuuggghhhh it's random and hits me when i least expect it. mylanta seems to help settle it. gee pregnancy is so glamorous
-
Hey my ticker is defective. It's almost a whole week behind! I'm 17 weeks on Wednesday. Might have to get a new one from somewhere else.
Thank god it was pouring with rain in that carpark as it all washed away pretty quickly and disguised my loud vomitting noises!!!
How do people continue having kids when they experience pregnancies like this? I haven't really begun to enjoy mine yet! Where's the glow, where's the glow they speak of? Is it a myth?
-
Kaybee dont stress im sure bub is fine prob just having a sleep :) how exciting to have your scan this week! are you finding out the sex?
Mindhugs, you poor thing! im so glad that hasnt happened yet although iv been carrying a vomit bag in my handbag incase lol, i hope it eases for you soon.

Hi girls,
Well we have two not far off now. I was induced with my daughter because I was overdue and the drugs resulted in the contractions being off the scale on their little monitoring device and each time I had one the baby's heart would stop but luckily it always started again... it just meant I had to be flat on my back hooked up to a machine for the entire labour so couldn't put into practice any of the positions I had learnt about which were meant to let gravity help baby come out!
Anyway I'm wondering if I should be concerned... the last couple of days I've noticed that my tummy has changed shape... I seem to have lost a bit of preggie belly and my clothes fit easier. I'm not sure whether to see a doctor to discuss it or what. I haven't booked my next scan yet but it should be for around 4 weeks time. It's just weird that I seem that bit smaller. Even my housemate noticed it... she said maybe the baby has moved position but I'm only 16 weeks so at this stage I don't think that would make any difference to the size of my belly.
I haven't had any pain or any bleeding or anything... just this strange loss of belly!
Did any of you who are further along experience anything like this before? It would be reassuring to know if it's common / normal.
Thanks
Lori

mindhugs...ohhhh poor you!!!
jaki - where in Scotland is he from? I lived there for about 13 yrs (Edinburgh)
My day: get up, have brekky, go to mall and check out 3 shops only looking for something specific (didn't find), stop at friends' for an hour or so, home to lunch prepared by DH, watch tv, arvo nap, up, decaf coffee, walk the dog, home and on BB. RESULT? tired!!! would you believe it?! I don't know how people do it when they have kids already..... anyway, dinner time xx
-
Dreamrise that is one of my fears... Not being able to have an active labor.. I just hope he comes before they induce!
My belly went up and down, it was smaller at 17 weeks than at 13!
I think it's just the hormones settle down and bloating etc goes down :)
Airline he's fe Lugar, Ayrshire. So closer to Glascow than Edinburgh. Has been in Aus for 4.5 yrs now.

OD: With my pregnancy with DD I had m/s from 7 1/2 to 12 weeks but I never vomited and some days were better than others, and this time around I only had it from 7 1/2 to 9 weeks and again never vomited. You will probably find that you have good and bad days, but having twins this time around you would think I would have had it much longer but after a week and a half I felt much better. Maybe you will be one of the lucky ones as well and only have it for a short time...
DR: You will find your belly shape will change and some days look smaller than others, even now with my HUGE belly and depending on what I wear I look smaller and other days I look like a truck
Jaki: I hope your little boy plays nicely and comes before you need to be induced, but either way I can't wait to hear that he has arrived..
Airline: Your trip made me tired just reading about it, oh how I would love to walk around the shops but a trip to the letterbox and back does me in, and yes having a toddler to chase after makes me exhausted by 2pm...
Kaybee: You can whinge all you want, I don't want to be the only one in here complaining all the time...lol.... and I pretty much know which baby is which when they move as twin a (lefty) is my lazy boy who has been head down since 16 weeks and all he seems to do is roll from side to side where as twin b (righty) is my active baby who like to squirm everywhere and kick me in the ribs...
Grub: How you doing?? Yay on having some more name options now maybe DH is starting to have a different perspective on things after your talk last week...
Nothing much happening here... although we put a cot up in our room along with a changing station and now I feel much happier that everything is in place for when they come home. We are going to pick up our pram on the weekend and then all we have left is to pick up the capsules that we have hired while the boys are little and have them installed. Ob appt on Thursday and then I should be on to 2 weekly appt for a couple of appts and then onto weekly and then when I hit 32 weeks I'll start making my weekly visits to the hospital for monitoring as well. I know I have been complaining about this pregnancy dragging but when I start thinking that pretty much every week or so from now on in I will be having either Ob appt's, hossy visits or scans I'm sure that the time will soon fly by. Oh and when we were tidying up our bedroom to make room for the boys I asked DH if he is still happy with the revised names we have chosen, he asked me to tell him again what they were and he is happy with them but I had to make sure he was aware of the spelling of one of the names as it can be spelt a couple of ways but I want it spelt the 'original' way. But I can guarantee when they are delivered I will have to spell it for the midwives as DH will be so confused...
-
Yay 9 weeks today :)
Kelly D hopefully your right and i dont get anymore m/s?? how exciting putting up the cot, i cant wait to set my nursery up.
dreamwise if your concerned id just go to the DR for peace of mind but im sure its nothing to worry about.
AFM im wondering if i should go to the DR??? iv had lower back pain everyday since falling pg some days hardly any and others there all day (this kind of back pain isnt giving me lots of pain its just there and annoying) i have brough it up with my local GP but she just said not sure what it could be from? i have always got this same back pain when iv been nearly due for my period, when iv got my period and when doing IVF cycles so the only thing i can think it may be is the hormones in my body??? I just want peace of mind that its nothing to worry about, iv though about going to the hospital cause i think if i go to the DR they wont do anything?
-
OD: Sounds like the hormones to me. Your body will gradually start to produce relaxin to allow your pelivc bones to start spreading and lower back pain is often associated as well. Looks like you might miss the m/s bandwagon but get the back pain instead, unfortunately these are all the "joys" of pregnancy :)

OneDay - I went back to my IVF Dr several times for scans in the 1st tri to reassure me at times of concern. He was more than happy to scan me whenever I wanted to - at a cost of course. So if it's really concerning you I would encourage you to ring up and go back for a quick scan :) I'm sure everything is fine though. My DR told me to stop reading the internet! Ha ha ha! Easier said than done.
Can you believe I just got an email from a friend (same age as me) raving about how she went in for her very first IVF treatment and is now 17 weeks pregnant, with 4 blasties left in the freezer!!! Even though I am now finally pregnant it made me feel bad about my journey. If only she knew how rare that was - what she's experienced. As I sit here dealing with re-mortgaging my house to cope with the IVF debts we've mounted up over years, and the fact that we have nothing left in reserve now etc etc etc.
Am I over-reacting with my pregnancy hormones or does anyone else find this a little insensitive? She knew of my journey and my losses etc
I had another girlfriend drop over for coffee last Friday crying because she's just turned 40, just gotten married and has tried 3 times to fall pregnant unsuccessfully and is now panicking. 3 times??? Come on!!! She also told me she has been tested for Endometriosis and has a letter from her GP saying she doesn't have it. She knows I have it. I told her I'd be interested in seeing that letter as after being a long suffere of Endo and enduring many laparoscopy's I do not know of a test for this condition. They treat you on suspicion and don't know until they open you up. She assured me she had a scan and her "ENDOMETRIUM" was given the thumbs. At that point I said "do you know what Endometriosis is? "No" she said. I said I'm so glad you ENDOMETRIUM was given the thumbs up, but that's not a test for endometriosis, it just means the lining in your uterus is thickening up nicely at the required time of month...........................GOD GIVE ME STRENGTH PLEASE!!!
It feels as though 2 girlfriends have just tried to thumb their noses at me by reassuring themselves that their situation is not as dire as mine was regarding infertility. I am so supportive with friends and want to make sure mine don't get mis-information or spend money unecessarily like I did, but this is trying my supportive side immensely.

Hi ladies apologies in advance for the me post but just wanted to let you know sadly scan today showed blighted ovum, am booked in for a D&C next Wed, am devastated, and just knew it couldn't be this easy.
MH saw your post re Clexane, I don't love it either but kiss the needle every time for luck as I believe it is the sole reason I have my girls and thank God I have it as an option.
Love to all for your pregnancies and beyond xx

hi everyone... back from a great visit to Sydney...not at work this week and our home computer isn't working (on DHs work computer for a very quick minute!)...therefore unfortunately can't do personal messages for you all but have had a quick read to catch up with everyone's news....
BD- I am so so sorry, huge hugs to you...I was so sad to read your news, I really hoped and wanted foryou to be on the way. I hope you are ok, be easy with yourself. thinking of you xx
sorry, but DH needs his computer back...will chat more soon
-
BDT - I'm so so sorry for your awful scan today. I hope you are feeling ok and have some good support around you for next Wednesday and beyond.
MH - I'm hearing you re your friends. I think people think that once you are UTD your past worries and problems are gone. WE know they will always be with us. I have some very insensitive friends, and I think that generally I am pretty tough-skinned (well, not on BB, but out here). They really are lucky to have you, and luckily for them, will probably never realise how insensitive and hurtful they are being.
Jaki - I was also induced due to GD and although I was hooked up to a few machines - I could get into any position I wanted. The midwife and DH just had to look after where all the leads went - a small ask really. Apart from needing to pee I didn't really feel like walking around much anyway, so it wasn't that much of a hinderance. Just don't want you to worry too much, if that's the road you have to go down.
DR - I'm sure your smaller belly is just hormones. My kids at school still haven't twigged that I'm pg and I'm nearly 19 weeks, but at the start of the term (when I was only 11) I had to really watch what I wore to not start rumours. It's so stressful isn't it - all the worrying. I am thinking of you (and feeling pretty much the same!) xxoo
Hope you're all well.
Babydreamtime - look after yourself xxoo

Thanx kaybee.
Im actually freaking out tonight, I can't sleep. I'm worried the baby is going to be massive. I've not been eating very well since I got to Brisbane. Even tho my levels are still ok and well managed with the insulin I'm suddenly panicked about the consequences of my food choices for the past week. Yet I know I won't eat any better tomoz because of it.. It's like my self control is gone.
I'm going to the hospy ob tomoz, I'm wondering what she will say if I just refuse to leave pregnant? Will they admit me and induce?
I had acupuncture yesterday which was awesome but I'm not feeling any different. I tried spicy food but my body did not react well to that as I'm not used to it.
I'm told to have sex but my husband refuses!
I'm sorry I'm ranting.... Maybe they will admit me to mental health and not maternity! Lol

Hi Jaki,
I was nearly 2 weeks overdue and my mum was beside herself so she tried everything - driving along bumpy roads, eating all sorts of food and even in desperation she drank A CUP OF CASTOR OIL. She said she was so determined to get me out she didn't even taste it... just gulped the whole lot down... Anyway not sure if it helped but she did go into labour the next day!
And when I finally decided to start coming I actually came pretty quick!
Good luck.
And BabyDreamtime... I'm so sorry to hear your news. I hope you will have success soon.
AFM: I had a counselling appointment with the hospital social worker. I think it was meant to go for an hour but it ended up lasting almost 2. I guess I just needed someone I could spill my guts too. I explained how I was worried because I haven't bonded with this bub but people have suggested that it could be because it has taken so long I still can't believe it's true and because of the threatened miscarriage when I was told I had definately lost the baby. But as we started to talk I discussed my concerns about having used an anon clinic sperm donor. I had spent 2 years looking for a known sperm donor as I wanted to know the biological father of my child... I wanted to have some idea what genes my child might inherit and I also wanted the child to be able to have contact (I was imaging family outings 2 or 3 times a year). I then did private donor insemination for a year before starting on IVF (which took 11 months (4 cycles) before I had success). I hadn't realised how sad I feel about my donor situation until I started to talk to her... just let the flood gates open.
I really have no idea about my donor... the clinic only give you an A4 page of brief details - height, weight, age, hair colour etc. There is nothing to help you get a sense of who this person is... their personality etc. It is so different to how I had wanted and all the years I spent looking for a donor (and huge emotional rollercoaster as I thought I found one and after 6 months of nutting out our legal agreement he changed his mind and then countless over disappointments) just seem like such a waste. I could have gone the IVF route earlier and with age on my side maybe it wouldn't have taken as long. I could have had a 3 year old by now!
I think it came to a head when the midwife at my last hospital appointment asked about teh father and when I said it was an anon donor she said "Oh so this baby will be a real surprise package" - and I felt she was being judgemental and I wanted to scream "this isn't the way I wanted it... I tried so hard for it to not be like this".
I mean I'm glad I'm pregnant... don't get me wrong. Just feel sad it's not the way I planned. I'm hoping that after the 20 week scan I might start to feel a bit better about everything.
I just hope my donor was a genuine nice guy and the baby inherits good genes!
Lori - 37
DD - 14
4 year journey... finally 16 weeks pregnant.

BDT - noooooo! I'm so sorry to hear that news. You should know that you are one of my main inspirations for getting back on the bike and to keep going through my baby journey and IVF. And I know you will get your next precious bub - I just have that feeling. Take care and will be thinking of you for the D&C.
Lori - If I wasn't married I would be using a donor by now, and most likely an anon one too. I think it's a wonderful gift that a woman has that opportunity in life regardless - and so brave of you for taking that step in order to realise your dream of being a mum. I am a BIG supporter of counselling, even though I waited so long to get there myself. It's amazing what one session can do for you. I'm looking forward to hearing about the rest of your amazing journey....................
Jaki - if you're ranting then I am too. Maybe it's the week for us all to get stuff off our chests. Totally understand your nerves of inducing birth, but you will be so fine - I've got a good feeling about it. I'm hoping your next post is the BIG announcement of your precious bub. Take care, try to stay calm and enjoy the birth xxx
Kaybee - I've been tossing with the idea of making a 4- 5 min clip talking about IVF, miscarriages & infertility as I feel it is such an unspoken topic, and sending it applicable charities websites. It's become so taboo. But since I've had those comments from those girlfriends it's put me off a bit. I think people are insensitive.
AFM - it's already getting more difficult to inject Clexane in my tummy as doctor instructed, due to less and less fat roles from baby taking up space. For all your Clexane uses out there past and present, any tips on where else to inject it? It's quite a painful needle.
