Pregnancy after LT TTC #18

Hi ladies just thought id quickly post to say helllloooooo!!! Im off work this week doing a big house clean and we get new carpet on friday :) cant wait i hate the stuff we have at the moment! So tired but it feels so good to know how clean the house is! DH and i went away on the weekend for 'our last time away before bub comes' we had such a great time, it was nice to laugh again and just show each other how much we still do love each other (not that we thought we didnt) but as you would all know after a long time of trying to concieve and then being so busy and tired all the time you forget to show each other that little bit of extra love and attention.

I hope you all doing well, thinking of you grubs hope it happens soon :)

Haven't posted for ages but have been reading frequently.

Grub!! Any day/hour/minute now and it will be on. It's so hard eh, you know armageddon is upon you when bub comes but you can't not want it to happen right now!

I'm glad everyone else is going so well.

We have three weeks to go and I am counting the days. Have started on iron injections as the spatone did absolutely nothing and I've been having near-fainting spells. So my poor bum has copped it - although it was nowhere near as painful as I was led to believe. I have a CTG booked next week just as a precaution and a couple more OB appoints then we are all systems go for my c-section. Just hanging out to meet my little bubba!

afm- all good...have to have another scan next week, just to check all is ok, because my amniotic fluid is on the low side...and our boy seems to be doing well, but he is a small baby..18th percentile, so they just want to have another look... yay, get to see him again! And they now say if all is going ok, they won't induce me early, but they won't let me go past by due date either.
anyway, gotta go home, been a big day. chat soon

Have skim read over everyone's news. Seems like there is so much since I was last on here properly.

Goodluck Grub... hope bub doesn't leave you hanging too long.

AFM: I now have a new tenant in my unit and in my bungalow (so the rent from these covers half my morgage - big relief). Still trying to organise insurance though - because I am on more than 5 acres of land and rent part of it out most insurance companies won't cover me. I have only found one so far and they want to charge a fortune (over double what the other companies would charge for the same level of cover). I can't afford $40 a week just for household insurance on top of all my other insurances (like car insurance, life insurance etc). So I'm quite stressed about that. I have an insurance broker looking into it for me now.

Still no sign of work - good from the point of view that I feel so tired all the time lately, but bad from a financial point of view.

10.5 weeks to go and still so much renovating to do before I can start thinking about doing up the baby's nursery. It's currently the store room for all the stuff we had to move out of other rooms to do them.

I had some sad news this week. A friend who I have known through the Internet for 5 years (but only met face to face 3 times as she lives in Adelaide) had some very sad news. We both started on our trying-to-concieve journey as single mums around the same time (about 4 and a half years ago). She was doing private donor insemination with a guy she knew. She had to put her plans on hold for a while but recently started trying again. She has finally been to a fertility clinic for advice and has now been diagnosed with early onset menopause (she is only 41). I feel so sad for her. She wrote "now my womb will be forever empty" and I just cried when I read that. I know how hard the whole trying to concieve journey was for me and I couldn't imagine how painful it would be to invest all this time and energy into the dream just to be told - sorry it's never going to happen... it's too late. I find it hard because my heart aches for her and I want to try to help elivate her pain but I know that in some ways it might be more painful for her with me because of the fact that I am now pregnant - I have achieved her dream... and perhaps more so because our journey's were quite similar. Any advice?

It reminded me how important it is not to wait too long to start trying (or seek medical help).

afm:-- well i have my scan in morning, yipee. i will be 11 weeks. then i am off to other end of state for my sisters weekend. she will be 22 weeks and i am so so excited to be seeing her and having a kid and DH free weekend. :-)
still feeling yuk. had a bad day yesterday and am now finding that i need another pillow to sleep on or i feel like i'm going to be sick !!!!!!!!!!!!

afm - finally got the results from my scan - low risk for everything, so feeling good :) Got told off by the dr for being a bit slack with exercise... I like to think of it as being cautious... but I guess it wouldn't hurt to get moving a bit more than I currently am. Starting tomorrow :) Have a good weekend everyone!

Possums - hope your scan went well, I was always scared to hold small babies but my first was 5pound6 so tiny, but perfectly healthy it was good because I didn't get too uncomfortable, hope your little man is growing well and fluid is all ok!

DR - hope your renovating is going well, yay for a new tenant!

Grub - yay! so close now, can't wait for your announcement hope bub doesn't make you wait too much longer.

JBM - hope your scan went well! and have a great weekend with your sis!

afm - finally got the baby room cleaned out (was acting as storage room) dusted and vacuumed today. Feel much better now about bringing a baby home to a room that we can actually walk into. Still so much to do and need to go through all of the girls clothes and wash them and put new drawer liners in. Baby isn't kicking as much as usual but still wiggling away, I think its starting to run out of room. On the countdown now - yay - 81/2 weeks to go!

Aimee no I dont make them up, but they make me laugh too. Aimee I have a to do list as well. An a4 page filled on one side and 1/2 filled on the other. I am slowly making my way through it.

Grub I went a week over with my dd and then it was nearly hitting xmas and the ob took pitty on me as he was going away and induced me. Your mum will be here now. Hope that give you a bit of a break and you DS is having fun with your mum. grub your very close now.

Aimee your nursery prep sounds like mine, our room was a storage room as well. Ive slowly started to clean it out. But we have some things that will have to stay put there as no were else to put them. Poor bubba.

I finally went and got my bassinet out of the shed to check it out and it need a wash as it kinda had like a water stain on the material. But now I have torn the lining that sits under the basket bit, argh I dont have a sewing machine to fix it. So have to put the call out to friends.

Aimee - good on you for getting in and cleaning up your nursery. I am absolutely stinging to do the same. DH keeps saying it'll only take a day to paint it - there's no hurry. You must feel so relieved knowing that it's done now. Now for the kind of fun bit - washing the clothes and stuff.

Trishy - oh no - what a drama with your bassinet! Hope you have a good friend there to help you out.

Kass - a wake up call is always good, I guess. I felt so much fitter and healthier in my first pregnancy from all the walking I was doing. Wish I was as motivated this time round! Good luck with yours - it's so hard in winter, isn't it.

Hello, everyone else - oneday, aimee, possums, kass, jbm, Lori, bug's mum - hope you are all cruising along nicely.

AFM - they have put me on more insulin as my sugar was going all crazy even though I have been sticking to my GD diet to a T. I'm not real happy about it, but as long as it means my bub is healthy, I'll do anything. Had a scan on Friday which showed baby is very healthy - on the small side but looking very good. So nice to see him/her - it's face was squished up against my placenta - eeewww! That also meant they couldn't get a 3D shot of the face. Oh well - only less than 8 weeks till I get to meet him or her!

Still getting very strong nesting urges but kind of waiting till school holidays so I can get stuck in properly rather than start a bit and have to leave it. Really really really hope no dramas happen in the meantime!

Anyway I am so tired and DH is working again so I'd better go throw DS in the bath and get some dinner on. Take care ladies xoxoxo

Kaybee yes a friend offered to help but she lives quite far away. Maybe we can meet in the hills which is half way for a coffee or lunch so that would be a good excuse. I hear you on the nesting though, I've been just doing jobs I can do. Like clean my linen cupboard, also went through my wardrobe and did a clean out. Not the things I want to do first, but it kinda tames the nesting beast.

Kaybee - oh no sorry to hear about your sugar but glad they are keeping an eye on it! Were you asking about a bassinet a little while ago (baby brain). We got a new one as I like having bub in our room for a bit too, but you never know what kind of baby they will be! It was a kingparrot cub one. We have limited storage space and you can put it on a coffee table or even in the cot, it has the air mesh sides aswell. I think baby zone direct (on the net) have them on special for $70 at the moment. Not long now til holidays! Hope you can relax a bit too!

Trishy - oh no, sorry to hear about your bassinet and hope its not to tricky to make a time to meet up with your friend - glad your nesting is going well though.

Aimee - thanks for the basinette tips - I've just had a look on babyzone. I kind of want one with wheels, but those ones are all so frilly and pretty looking and so not me. But, they are kind of practical - with wheels and a little basket/tray thing underneath. Why can't they make them just plain and simple.

Trishy - thanks for your nesting tips too. Are you feeling a bit better these days?

I bought my first baby things today - just a couple of little outfits. Aaaah, it feels so nice. I have just found out that the person taking over my position when I leave might not be back for the start of term. Her father is really ill overseas and she has gone to visit him. I am half tossing up whether to offer to work just a couple of days for the first 2 weeks to help out until she gets back. Hmmm, the money would be nice and it would help pass the time in those last few weeks. Not sure. Anyway, gonna go try this sleeping thing, seeyas xo

lol thanks for the excitement girls! no still here and waiting. due date on thurs and they'll do a stretch and sweep then to hopefully get things moving.

mum arrived at the weekend to help and did my floors... thank the lord!!! dh was 'doing them' man-style! and there's a new estate just bulldozed across the main road... so all the fine dust was comign into to house and ugh... anyhoo it feels great! also scored two foot massages!!!

but haven't been in much. just been resting and caring for DS who had his 18 month old immunisations today :(

Grub... hope it's not too much longer for you.

Trishy - hope you can catch up with your friend and get the bassinet basket bit fixed.

AFM: Got insurance finally sorted (huge relief)... have an ultrasound today...hopefully bub will co-operate and they can tell me whether it is a girl or not. I put in a special request not to see the same guy as last time... so I'm hoping whoever does it today will be a bit more sure about the gender. I was lucky the midwife clinic gave me a referral for another scan as they understood how important it is to me to know about the gender but it only says it's to check growth (as otherwise it's not covered by medicare) so I hope they will check out the gender for me. It was a 3 week wait to get in. So it's now been 10 weeks since my last ultrasound and I have just under 10 weeks to go till bub is due so probably a good time to have it as it breaks up that long period between the 20 week scan and the due date.

I have been slack with a few more distant friends and finally got around to ringing one on the weekend and when I told her about all the damage caused by my last tenant and all the work I had to do I said "It would have been bad enough but with the pregnancy it just killed my back doing all the painting and regrouting the tiles and stuff" and she said "Oh you're pregnant? How far along?" I felt so bad as I hadn't realised it had been that long since we had spoken. I said "Oh... I haven't I told you... I'm 6 and a half months". What a shocker am I!

The renovations to my daughter's new bedroom are coming along slowly. My parents are back up again (arrived yesterday and going home tomorrow I think). Dad and I are currently working on the new built in robe and painting the ceiling. So I better get back to it.

Grub - nothing quite as effective as 'man cleaning' is there? We had people round last night and dh offered to clean the kitchen - looked great from a glance but then I discovered he'd just dumped everything in the sink - I guess actually washing the dishes was a bit too hard! Hope it happens very very soon! fx!

Kaybee - Try and stay away from school! (I'm assuming you're a teacher) I am as well and I always feel guilty taking time off - but the kids will be ok with a relief - enjoy your time off work :)

afm- am sitting here watching some alien like moves just under my ribs, lol...love the movement- scan on thurs to check on him, and the amniotic fluid etc, so looking forward to that. and DH and I did lots of work in the nursery on the weekend...it's starting to look great..we've ended up with a 'forest friends' type theme...and have a tree on one wall with a mum and baby owl sitting in it, over his cot...very cute and DH did a top job with it. I also started washing little outfits...they looked sweet on the line.
sorry for not being in here so much lately...work/life has been busy

possum: oh so cute nursery sounds. i luv the whole tummy moving thing and can't wait for it again. x

had a great weekend, movies, dinner, lunch, new hair style. i even felt my sis baby kicking ( 22 weeks) . it was so exciting.
but i had to come back to my real life though .
we have decided we are slack and need to do sisters weekend evry 3 months at least ?!.
all went well with scan, baby was moving round heaps and looks like a baby, was so exciting seeing it. yipee
now i just have to wait for my first midwife app?, they're calling me next week to book it.
i will be 12 weeks on friday !!!!

i am even feeling a little less sick and not getting up to go to loo 3 times a night also. even a couple of times made it thru the whole night !!

JBM, sounds like you had a great time with your sister. It's great that you get along so well and are able to enjoy such nice times together. I only have a younger brother who I don't really get along with at all. We are so different. He smokes alot of pot and has such different views on the world to me. It is part of the reason I was really hoping this bub wasn't a boy because all the males in my life (apart from my Dad) are drop-kicks so I was worried about having a suitable male role model.

AFM: Ultrasound yesterday went well. Bub is on track in most measurements - Real age was 30w1d and most measurements varied from 29w5d to 30w3d. However I'm a bit worried about it having a big head because it initially measured at 32w2d and then when she did it again from a different position it measured 31w5d. Either way it seems that is alot bigger in proprotion to the rest of it's body... great that will make it so much more fun to push out! LOL My mum tried to make me feel better by telling me that a family friend of ours had a really big boffy head as a baby "she was the ugliest baby I ever saw" my mum told me. But by the time she was primary school aged she had grown into her head and now she's completely ok looking (she's now in her late 30's).

Anyway I asked about the gender and the woman who did this scan told me they will never say 100% but "it looks like a girl". So hopefully that means it is a girl. She was so reluctant to comment on it. I told her how my first scan when I was pregnant with my daughter they told me she was a boy but then when I had a follow up scan 4 weeks later they told me she was a girl and the guy who did that scan said "Definately, 100% sure it's a girl and I've never been wrong". I guess I just wanted that sort of certainity again. It's probably worse because I had been feeling this one was a boy. With my daughter I was 100% sure she was a girl before the first scan. When my ex was pregnant I was 95% sure it was a boy and I was right again. With this one I felt 60% sure it was a boy so I guess with their wishy-washy answers on the gender it makes me feel more unsure. I really want a girl again but I just wish I felt more sure about it. The reason I had thought this one was a boy is mostly because the pregnancy has been so different to when I was pregnant with my daughter. It's like the opposite in almost everything so I thought that the gender must be opposite too.
I had really bad morning sickness with her until around 16 weeks (with this bub I've had none)
Once I got over the morning sickness I felt starving hungry all the time for the rest of my pregnancy - used to eat 8 weetbix for breakfast in the mornings (with this bub I hardly eat any more than normal - only 2 weetbix for breakfast).
I felt fit and healthy, no extra pains etc for all my pregnancy with my daughter - apart from the morning sickness (with this one I had those terrible unexplained pains under my ribs, thrush, back pain etc).
And for the past few weeks I've been getting extremely bad reflux? Acidic, burning feeling up my throat and feeling like I want to throw up. It makes me not want to eat anything in case it makes it worse. I never had this when I was pregnant with my daughter.

Anyway fingers crossed it is a girl.

dreamrise: woohoo and yipee. fingers crossed for a girl. i want one too after all boys in our house. lol. don't worry about the baby size. easy to say hey. but my 2nd boy was 9 lb . and he was the easiest delivery out of all 3 boys. i don't do little babies. and he was early too........... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
as for refulx when you get an answer for that let me know. i have it will all pregnancies and am not looking forward to that. eek.

DR - yay for pink bundle! My OB gave me zantac for reflux and it worked really well! But haven't used it in a while and not sure what the rules are on it anymore.
JBM - woohoo for a great scan, and almost into your second tri, hope you're continuing to feel better!

kass - how are you? you seem to be cruising along so well

AFM - must not go grocery shopping when nesting and hungry - we now have 2 - 8 of everything, so house and cupboard is well-stocked with food and cleaning products. I still miss my mum and she won't be back for another couple of weeks. EEEk my first stretch marks have started to appear those tiny little red ones, has been so cold I haven't been putting much moisturiser on lately but think I will be lathering it on in the next few weeks!!!! Am 31 weeks today, still so much to do but I just can't wait to be nursing bubby and for this pregnancy to be over, but am trying to relax and enjoy the moment, ha!

It's been pretty quiet on here. I hope everyone is okay.

On the nesting topic... my Dad joked that he is looking forward to me getting that urge and cleaning the house from top to bottom but I can't anyway with all the renovations.
My parents are coming up for almost the full week next week (Mon afternoon to Sat morning) to help with the renovations. It is my birthday on Tuesday so we'll probably go out for dinner. I'll be 38. After that I won't see my parents for a couple of weeks. They are going to Qld for 9 days and taking my 14yr old daughter and my neice and one of my nephews with them. Not long after they get back though it will be full steam ahead on the renovations as we are fast running out of time before bub comes. By the time they get back it will only be 6 weeks till bub is due! The room that is to be the baby's nursery is the store room until the furniture etc can go back into the rooms we are renovating. I'm starting to think I have bitten off more than I can chew!

The family friends I mentioned earlier who got pregnant through IVF (and we were obviously doing it at the same time, they knew I was doing IVF but never mentioned that they were) well they have just had their first bub. It has all been the biggest deal so my mum is hoping that now that bub is safely here things might settle down. At first we weren't allowed to even know she was pregnant - Mum guessed and was told by her friend that the couple (her son and his wife) didn't want anyone to know so mum had to pretend she didn't know. Anyway once they got to the point of allowing people to know we found out they had concieved through IVF but as far as my mum can work out they had a few failed attempts but no miscarriages, but it was then the biggest deal because the baby might be small or there might be something wrong with it, or this or that. My mum was starting to get sick of hearing about it because it appeared that they were being really over-the-top about everything and as far as we could work out there was actually no basis for them to be more concerned then any other pregnant women (no extra health issues or poor results showing up on scans etc). Anyway she knew she was going to have a C-section because she is fairly small build and then it was a big deal about dates and how she wouldn't be able to even pick the baby up for weeks after the surgery etc etc. Well bub was finally born this week 2 weeks early but she is perfectly healthy (didn't have to go into a humidi crib at all) but it's still a big deal about when the wife will feel okay enough to pick bub up or even have her inlaws visit. As far as we can figure out (from what we have been told) the surgery went perfectly and there is no reason to think she will be any different to any other woman who has a C-section. I hope I never carry on like that. I don't know if it is the husband or wife who is making it all seem like such a huge deal (or maybe both). Hopefully now they can start to relax a bit. I know there are slightly higher risks of problems with babies concieved through IVF but my bub was concieved that way too and I'm not stressing about every tiny thing.

Does anyone have any thoughts about baby monitors? It is one of the things I still need to get. I'm not sure which way to go... I like the idea of those ones that monitor movement as well but then would I be freaking out all the time if bub didn't move enough!

At the moment bub is moving around heaps but it seems her favourite position is with her bum up under my ribs on the right and her head down on the left so angled sideways. I had a Dr's appointment on Thursday at the hospital and when it was time to leave the Dr shook my hand and said "keep up the good work"! I nearly laughed!

DR - Congrats on your little pink bundle growing in there! On the monitor thing - I didn't have one with DS as my house is tiny with mostly floorboards, so sound carries very easily. This time I am borrowing a good one from my brother but it doesn't do movement (as far as I know). Heaps of friends have said those ones are stressful as the alarm goes off all the time and they run in there in the middle of the night and everything is 100%fine. So, I don't know! I know what you mean about your mum's friend. People like that are hard work. You would think that they would try and enjoy their pregnancy a little bit after all they've been through and be over the moon when they get their healthy baby after all those years. But I guess, we all have our concerns and LTTTC gets to us in different ways. She might have always been a stresshead worrier anyway, even without the IVF. Glad all of your renos and cleaning are going well.

Aimee - Oh no - stretchies!!! Get rubbing girl. Not that much longer to stretch at least!

JBM - yay for sleeping through the night! Woohoo - (I think I remember that, but it's been a while)

AFM - not sure if I told you I had a scan last week? I have no memory these days. Anyway, all was perfect - baby on the small side, but with GD they worry about it being big, so that's all great! I actually think that if they went off my original IVF dates rather than the 12 week scan dates then it is measuring spot on. Only 3 days of work to go next week and then that's it. Yipeee

I took DH to a baby shop today (we were in the car and I said, 'oh let's just go this way so I can grab a few things'). So, I bought a basinett (one of the frilly things that I hate, but which are pretty practical) and looked at lots of other stuff. I think because I am still so small, it still seems quite far away for him. But then, for most men, they don't really GET IT until labour starts. Anyway, have a good weekend chicks! Chat soon, xoxo

just lost my post... it was basically a big whinge about how i'm now 3 days overdue. everyone kept saying 2nd time round comes faster and quicker! pft only wnet 4 days over with ds and he's only 18months old. losing faith in my body.

cry every day when i wake to find i didn't go into labour.

this just efphing really really sucks. AAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH there's talk of inductions now and my mum is leaving soon. so miserable :(

AFM - baby seems to be going along well, still miss my mum and have had some good friends ignoring me this week but not sure why? why is it that only 1 or 2 areas of life seem to be able to go ok at once? Am baby sitting tomorrow and have guests coming for dinner must go and make sure house is clean but have no motivation!

Aimee the friends ignoring you do they have kids? I sometimes find my friends without children do that. Not that I am all baby and nappy talk. By no means am I suggestion you are either, but thought that might be an explanation.

ha ha no they do have kids, heaps of kids! we have friends without kids too though who we often hang out with and it sometimes is so refreshing to see them to get away from all that mummy talk! I'm not all baby and nappy talk either. but thanks for the suggestion!

oops, I hope that didn't sound like I was being negative, I do adore spending time with my mummy friends and we do talk about our little ones as well as other topics, which are both good. Its just nice to feel like we can still hold a conversation with our other friends aswell :)

I try not to complain too much about this pg because I am just so grateful to still be pregnant, but bub keeps kicking everytime I lie down on either side. Does anyone ever worry they are squishing bub when lying on their side? I use other pillows for support and to try to alleviate pressure too but she still kicks or wiggles away for ages everytime I lie down or roll over.

aimee - lying on your side is the best thing and don't worry, the bub is well insulated :) I use a 'wedge'-shaped pillow i got from big w to support my belly and finds it helps.

thanks for the vibes girls. i'm now 4 days over... the most preg i've ever been! had had ds by this time ggrrrr. But interestingly, going on my original fet transfer dates i'm only one day over!

had a s&s this morn, was slightly effaced, soft and stretchy and bub is still very low. so things are happening as they should, just slower than i'd like!

going for a rest now... been vacuuming, mopping and dancing with ds to try and entice bub out! lol.

afm: well i had acu on fri , i love my acu lady she's so nice !!! i felt more relaxed and all is going well with my pulse etc for baby. yipee. then we had my DH mum's b'day on weekend, was fun and also had a family thing so was busy weekend for us all.

i started pilates last night. doing a 5 week course, my back has been out and i don't have good posture since being preggers so will try to help that. it was good. have never done it before.
lots of pelvic floor stuff o has to be good for me there too. stretches and core work.

i have been feeling a little less sick. still very tired and i sleep a lot. usually only making it to 9pm and waking about 7 am !!!!!!!!!!! it's amazing for me. lol

do i need to have the 13 week scan ?, as since i had one at 11 ?, i dunno

JBM - glad you're feeling better. Pilates sounds good, I've been meaning to check out something similar. Are you doing a regular or a preggy course? I don't know if I should start a preggy one now, or wait until I actually look slightly bigger - I feel self conscious rocking up with my flat belly!
Kaybee - sounds like you're getting organised - I'm sure the bassinet isn't that bad :) I don't think we'll get a monitor - small house, floorboards - sound travels pretty well here!
