Pregnancy after LT TTC #9

Loula - welcome!! As mitf said, not all of us are at the stage of having babies just yet so you'll find lots of support here. I know i've asked many many questions and have always felt much comforted by the responses.

murph, poppyfairy, grub, smithy, green and saph - my goodness, what a list!! Hope you're all still enjoying your babymoons! I do enjoy looking at all your pics when you post them up so keep them coming :)

melbel - congratulations!! Hope you're all well and at home enjoying your gorgeous nursery.

boc - hope your technical difficulties are resolved soon! I certainly know where you're coming from as i'm sure people are sick of me whingeing about our lack of computer...! By the way - I LOVE your belly pic on your signature, what a gorgeous photo!

londonmiss - sorry to hear about your furbaby, I know what a comfort she's been to you during this time. It's such a lovely thing to do though and I hope you can find some comfort knowing that she will bring so much happiness to someone else, and that you had a role in that :hug:

wantbaby - what a comfort it must be to have a doppler at home, i'd be using it every time!!! And well done on making a decision on the name - do you think DH will be agreeable?!

mitf - I liked this place much better. She talked us through everything she did and was really friendly and helpful.

AFM - we had our 20 week scan today! It was so lovely to see the chicklet moving around and it's so much bigger (well obviously...!) than last time. It was quite shy and kept hiding its face with its hands but we got a good look and have a lovely photo of the face looking straight at us! And although we said we weren't going to find out in the end temptation got the better of us, so you'll be glad to know we're adding a little pink to the thread :D Of course I had to go straight out and buy some pink, girly clothes and they're so cute!! We're still going to stick to our decision not to tell anyone, but wanted to tell you girls. So i've put aside a bag for the clothes/toys etc which we'll have to hide from everyone else, but I think we'll be okay not telling. Well I hope so anyway. In other news, we pick up our car on Wednesday (yay!) and we have also chosen a pram - all we have to do now is choose a colour...

Hello ladies. Thanks for all the lovely messages. I'm really touchedm thank you all so much. I've spent the whole day in dark glasses intermittedly blubbing. But I am very proud of her and I'm feeling better about 4 months of lay ins before bub arrives!

Most excitingly, I'm lead bidder on a pushchair on ebay! It's years since I used ebay and I've realised why I should not be allowed on here! I'm looking at a mountain thingie too, one with a bassinette attachment and a regular chair bit. And it's really near me too, so convenient. Anyway, we'll see in one hour and 8 minutes if I have it! That'll teach DH for going to Sydney to meet the chief exec!!!

Lise - so pleased to hear you are having a little girl. I wonder if over time, there really is a 50/50 split. It seems like it runs in waves, a rush of boys etc. I can't wait to find out next week.

i have decided that i love reading all the pregnant posts as i can see the stats at the bottom and know that i too can get pregnant, that IVF does work.
of course i know it works but i just get worried sometimes.

Hey - thanks for sharing - its so useful to read real stories. If you ranked pain on a scale of one to ten, how long would you say the pain of 8-10 lasted?

A story I heard years ago which is probably a myth but I love sharing with DH is that there's some tribe in Peru (or somewhere) in the mountains who live in wooden houses with beams above. When the lady has a contraction, she pulls on a rope, which is suspended from her husbands personage who is lying facedown between the rafters of the roof with his dangly bits dangling in a sort of 'dangly bits noose'. For each contraction, she pulls on this rope and gives them a yank (so to speak!!) This has the effect of a) helping him share the pain and b) making sure there's no bothering you for sex for a while after the birth

Does anyone else find the 20-30 week mark a real drag.. It feels like forever and a day since 10 weeks ago.. I dont know how Im going to find patience for the next 11 weeks! Im already dying to meet my lil jelly bean!

Is it just me or does it feel a bit quiet around here at the moment?!

kyra- don't tell me next 10 weeks are going to drag, I was hoping they'd go very quickly but clearly not!!

AFM - having a great week! As you know we had the scan on Monday and I don't think I've stopped smiling since! Then yesterday we ordered the pram, cot and change table and today we picked up our new car!! An expensive week for sure but good fun!! Now that we know the chicklet is a girl DH and I have been having some serious name discussions and have agreed on three we like, so I think we'll wait till after the birth to see which one is best.

Anyway, hope you're all well. Must go take another peek at the car, tragic aren't I

I send Mum and MIL a regular update on Grandbaby, on the basis that I'm here and they are missing out a bit... and my MIL has forwarded my most recent epic to all DH's siblings and partners of siblings. There's nothing in there that's particularly embarrassing, but it's a bit gushy if you know what I mean... bit baby obsessed/ monothematic. I feel a bit silly!

how are all your MIL? Don't get me wrong, mines great fun and good company, bit more 'young' than my mum, in approach not age. But it's never the same as with your own Mum is it :shhh:

Wow what a splurge...furniture,car etc. Our car has a damaged radiator,the side mirror is hanging on by masking tape and we now think because of the overheating,that we have a cracked engine.My car is almost 13 yrs old so we are looking for a new car but just cant afford one.I have been stuck at home since xmas.I dread,taking out another loan as we still rent and it just feels like we are getting nowhere financially.Im a saver,DH is a spender so we dont see eye to eye.I have my scan at 19 weeks so 4 more to go.Im thinking about finding out too,but will wait and see how i feel on the day.
Did you get a 3d/4d scan included?

Hahaha.Your funny.I had a dream lastnight that i had sex and started spotting so my fear is even in my subconcious! DH has been having longer showers....eeewww but if i get to keep my hands clean then im ok with that.Gee how lazy am i???? LOL

My MIL is a mad elvis fan,spends over $1000 a week on personal shopping and acts very young.We took years to get along but have finally got a good relationship.She now rings me for fashion advice but she is definately the opposite to me.DH's parents live almost 2 hours away now so we dont see or hear from them much but they are good in the sense that they help us out financially.My hubby is in his final year of an apprenticeship so things have been tight.
My mum,on the other hand is like my best friend.I tell her everything and she lives across the street.My MIL doesnt come close to my mum.Mum is the best.

AFM i am sure im feeling movements over the past 3 days.I used my doppler yesterday but bub kept moving around and i wanted to record the heartbeat onto my phone but when i would get the right spot,peanut would move.Funny little thing.I was reading my book and bub should be 11.5cm crown to rump.Thats soooo long to fit in my belly..plus the length of the legs.I was surprised to see how big it was.I guess i put my books down for a fortnight or so.

Hi all just lurking seeing that all you lovely ladies are doing well. Dont wish you time away as before you know it it will all be over and the routine of feed change sleep will set in. ( Baby sleeping that is not you) Dont get me wrong i absolutely love it especially the night feeds when all through the house not a sound can be heard. It is just so peaceful just me and Xavier no interuptions.

JBM Thankyou so much for checking on me. He is still gaining weight and I have stopped topping him up but he is still not back to his birth weight. He is so tiny compared to Campbell. Speaking of which must be off someone needs a bath and a feed before I retire for the night.

Morning all. Wa hey it's friday. Anyone in Melbourne, what a storm yesterday eh? That was the biggest electrical storm I've ever been in. Never seen rain like it, felt like I was right underneath the centre at one point.

What have you all got planned for the weekend? Saph, I'm guessing you'll be breastfeeding mainly and not off out clubbing :) I love the image of the peaceful hour in the night. I can't wait..... I'm counting down the days until the dog goes (v sad) and until my scan (v excited). no wonder I've got a headache....

London Miss~ YOU have a headache? My head should explode with whats going on in my world right now.Tomorrow i have to attend a wedding in which 2 people whom i have had my problems with,will be attending.My husbands ex girlfriend who is a psycho and tried to break us up for our first 2 years together,and our best mans,45yr old drunk of a girlfriend who lashed out at me one night because she was 'high' for no reason.We havnt spoken since. The only thing that makes me feel comfortable is turning up with my DH on my arm and my clearly showing belly.The ex said i would never marry him or have babies with him and the 'drunk' told me once that i didnt have a baby because i wasnt trying hard enough or simply didnt deserve a baby!! I had been through IVF,IUI etc but i didnt want it enough,APPARENTLY! (Stupid B!!!H)
Lastnight a solicitor turned up with papers of intent to possess the house as our lovely? landowners have not paid their mortgage since we began our rental agreement 6 months ago! Not sure if we need to move out or not but hope not as its too stressfull,we have no money and Connor just started high school here.
Last of all...finally...because the list of dramas is getting toooooo long in my life...my 12 year old car has just died so i rely on my dh to take me to scans etc in his company work TRUCK or i just stay at home.
Lets hope tomorrow goes o.k,the owners pay their debt and i find a nice 2nd hand car for under $15000 as that is all thats in my life savings!

Hope you have a great weekend.The storm sounded fantastic and scary! I love a good storm.I didnt sleep at all lastnight as it was soooo hot and my hips were killing me from sleeping on my side. I dont look forward to bed anymore with my legs hurting so much.

OH and the forgetfulness!...Last week i left the gas stove on from 7pm til 3am when DH got up for a drink and saw the blue flame burning.yesterday i almost fed my budgie,washing powder instead of bird seed and i just questioned DH over the phone about what he wrote,then scribbled out,on a note i had left him,only to be told i must have written something myself because he didnt.I remember now that i did.:redface:

Wow girl.. sounds to me like your having a bit of a shocker :doh:
We had to move out over christmas and it was both really stressfull and really exciting at the same time . we had no money for the move either and were at the time trying to get my son in with specialist all over to find out why he wasnt growing.. I guess when things are out of your control, try to see them as a blessing in disguise. If you get kicked out maybe its because there is a new house around the corner that you are MEANT to be in and bring your new lil one home too :) It took us months and months to find a place, and everytime we got knocked back I thought I couldve tore my hair out.. but then as it turned out we got this place.. which I now call my white walled palace :p Its simple and pretty close to a main road..the rent is higher then the last place and its by no means secured to us (its a demolition site they are planning to knock down when they get the go ahead for a new highway, tho its most likely not going to happen or affect us for at least 5-10 years..well heres hopeing) But ive never been more fond of a house or felt more at home in my life! and Im soo happy this is the place our little jelly bean is coming home too :)

Whos wedding is it that your going too? It sounds pretty ugly to be having to face such heartless women.. Maybe it would be better if you just didnt go, if thats an option I mean.. If they were that horrible to you and you havnt spoken since maybe the bride and groom will have to understand that by inviting them its made things too hard for you at this crucial time to be stressing yourself out to make an appearance? Do they know what happened or are they oblivious? I dont know.. It sounds pretty dodgy to me.. If you do end up going I suppose just ignore them and remember there attitudes are just reflecting on there own problems, stand by your husband and talk to everyone else.. make sure they see just how happy you are and just how invisable they are to you :)

If it makes you feel better our old heap gave way last night too!! haha! Im the only one with a liscence and will to drive out of me and DH, and on thursday nights he works till 9pm so I put Sleeping DS in the car and pick him up at about quarter past.. Well we made it there last night... he hopped in and .. .. we didnt go anywhere! LOL. The steering gave way and basically fell out of the engine as I was backing out and made the entire steering wheel completely stiff!! (not so surprising as the car has done over 500000k's!) So we only got home at midnight last night and now we dont have a car at all! We also have absolutely NO savings to get it fixed or replaced :s MIL and DIL are comeing to the rescue for us but it still is going to be a few weeks before we have it back! So today I walked down the shops with my son and the tandem pram to pick up some groceries.. And tell you what.. a tandem pram with a 3 yo.. full of groceries and with a 29 week preggers belly on my front.. well it isnt easy to get 2km in the sun up a hill! But hey... I guess it will do those ever growing thighs of mine some good!

The stove story makes me cringe a little.. You are lucky to still be here!! When we were living in our last place which was a wooden highset.. I took my son out one day after makeing toast and we played int he yard for half an hour or so... When we got back I could smell plastic burning.. So I put DS to bed but i couldnt figure out where the smell was comeing from.. By the time I realised it was the kettle and toster cavity I opened it to see melted plastic everywhere (from the chord which was wrapped around the metal, a small flame coming up OUT of the electrical chord and the top of the cavity catching alight...... :o:o:o

I was really happy we had an electrical fire ext that day.. It happens sometimes.. Spose to keep us on our toes.. glad to know we both made it through tho huh!

Hope this all makes you feel better.. I know its not always easy to have a whole heap of crap hit you at once.. But just think.. pretty soon you can have the last laugh and realise just how lucky you really are when your holding your healthy lil baby in your arms. I promise It makes it all worth it! Still cant believe I am going to have one!

Gotta love the ticker ticking away the days until the expected arrival day. Well Xavier is two weeks old today. He is feeding well and should be back to his birth weight by now. He was 140g off on wed so three more days and he should have made this up. He is still our tiny little bubba.

Have about 10 of my work buddies coming for arvo tea today to meet our newest addition. I also have a three year old going to a good home, and at times I am willing to consider a bad home even. His sleeping routine has become erratic so he is extremely tired and grumpy. Oh and very loud, Who needed to pay $90 to get Xaviers hearing checked, just let Campbell scream and watch him jump. LOL

Well I should go and finish cleaning the house. I know no housework for months and now my pelvis is feeling 99% better I am back into it.

Oh just a word of warning if you have any stitchers down there make sure you report anything different asap. My stitchers came undone and I got an infection. I caught it at the early stages as I rang ob as soon as it felt different. Have been on mass dose of antibiotics and poor DH has been having to check it everyday. I keep telling him it is the closest he is going to get to it for a very long time.

Morning ladies - what a wet weekend, well at least here in Canberra! It hasn't stopped raining which is great for my garden :)

LM - my MIL lives 5 hours away so I see her maybe 2-3 times a year max. DH and I don't have a landline, and neither do his parents, so they call DH on his mobile and I speak to them only when we visit. We don't have a relationship at all, and I don't think we ever will, so I'm probably not the best person to ask.

wantbaby - hope you survived the wedding without any painful incidents. You definitely have heaps going on in your life at the moment, I do hope it all sorts itself out sooner rather than later so you can have some peace of mind.

kyra - glad you have in-laws around to help you out for a few weeks and you don't have to walk miles up hills with your DS and a huge belly!

smithy, saph and poppyfairly - glad you're all going well. Love all the photos - can't wait till it's my turn, but trying very hard saph not to wish the time away and just enjoy every moment!

AFM - not much happening this week after our big splurge last week! I'm impatiently waiting for all our goodies to arrive, but they did say they could take up to 12 weeks! Am very glad we ordered everything now if that's going to be the case. We have our next OB appointment on Tuesday which i'm looking forward to since we haven't seen her since 12 weeks. I guess now we'll start seeing her monthly which will be nice for that extra bit of reassurance.

Hope you're all enjoying Valentine's day! DH surprised me last night with my fave chocolates and some gorgeous books for the Chicklet, and a card this morning that made me cry. Not that that's very hard these days!

Hi my loverlies, sorry for the me post, I don't have much time at the mo to catch up, will be back soon, but had to post some more pics of our girls, I am still in heaven, they are going great and putting on weight and sleeping between feeds, so I am getting about 7 hours sleep a night, pray to God this continues, I can't believe how lucky I am, touch wood.

Morning all! Thanks for all the lovely links - I got back from a lovely weekend in Daylesford last night and had a massive nesting session, cleaning out loads of stuff for the bin/ recycling/ charity shop/ roof respectively, then felt really lethagic and bored. But found all the pics to look at and that was wonderful. Like someone said I can't believe I'm going to have one of them.....! It's amazing how quickly they lose that slightly wrinkly professor look and get plump. Wonderful.

I'm wondering (and slightly worried) that I'm not going to get a good nights sleep from now for about another year and a half. I can't seem to sleep for more than an hour, between wildly varying temperatures, crazy dreams, sore belly, getting up to pee, rolling onto back and waking myself up, cramps in my legs and just plain not sleeping. Any advice gratefully recieved as I think I shall go stir crazy if this continues.

I'm getting the familiar excited/ nervous anticipation for wed's scan. I don't know why I get nervous, as if someone's going to look in my eyes and say "you've been eating ice cream again and not blueberries" and catch me out. DH is coming and I'm so hopeful we get to see the gender. Fingers crossed. :pray: Anyway, have nice Mondays all x

London miss~ Regarding your leg cramps,do they last most of the night? Im about to call my dr as the pain down the sides of my legs are bringing me to tears.I even get up and have red pressure areas on my thighs about a hands width down from my hips.It is becoming unbearable.Im getting really worried.I still get up to empty my bladder nearly every night too but i can handle that...not these sore hips though.Even my calf muscles are starting to hurt.Through the day,the pain eases but still hurt til after lunch.

Has anyone else had this in early 2nd trimester?

I hope you have had a lovely weekend and a special Valentines Day. It was so wet here that there wasn’t much we could do but hide in side. DH and I don’t really celebrate valentines but we enjoyed spending the day together, going out to breaky and doing a bit of shopping. We officially reached the 20 week mile stone, so we are now on the homeward stretch!

LondonMiss – weekends away are always lovely. I have started nesting too and have been cleaning out the cupboards in the bubs room. I t is amazing how good you feel after a good clutter cleanse! I haven’t been sleeping the greatest either. I am learning to live with and have been trying to keep my mind clear by writing things down before I go to bed. Good Luck with your scan. We have ours on Friday!

BDT – thanks for the photo update. You little girls are so sweet and you look amazing for someone who has just had twins!

Lise – wow 12 weeks! I can’t believe you have to wait that long. Good luck with the OB tomorrow and the chocolates and books sound lovely!

Poppy – thanks for the photo update too. I love looking at everyone’s photos. We hit 20 weeks yesterday so begin the downwards slope from half way. I can’t wait till I am sharing photo’s of my own!

Wantababy – I was having hip pain at night and we switched to the softer matress from the spare room. You could try putting an old doona or something under your sheet to get the same effect. Also, sorry to hear you are going through a tough time at the moment. I hope the wedding went ok and you didn’t let those horrible people get to you. I have got to a point in my life where I am not going to let insignificant people like that ruin my happiness. I hope you have managed to sort the house dramas out with the landlord to and this week is going to be much better for you.

JBM and kay kay – I hope it is not long till you ladies will be posting your wonderful news in here. IVF does work and I hope everything lines up perfectly for you both soon. A positive mind is sure to help too so don’t give up… sending lots of baby vibes your way xx

Operating a toaster is about my technological limit :shakehead: Wantbaby - no, it's more like the pain I imagine athletes get (not me ha ha ha ha) in their calves when they've run a long way but not stretched. Just my calf, and occaisionally the underside of my foot. More often my left than my right, oddly. I don't know about yours, I think if it's more painful than just cramping, I'd def get it checked out just for peace of mind.

I've just eaten a huge piece of Christmas cake (well dried fruit is fruit isn't it!?!) and Baby G is jumping on my stomach - down where I imagine my appendix is, a very strange but lovely sensation! I wonder if this means it does or doesn't like Christmas cake, or whether it's bored of me sitting at the table typing (I'm allegedly working at home...)

Tomorrow is a big day, only 150 days to go... then next date is half way which I can't wait for. I am inspired by you Lise and am going to get my arse into gear and start getting more stuff. Once DH is no longer in denial that we're going to have a baby, it'll be great. (I think LTTTC has had a more profound impact on him than on me, he's still waiting for something to go wrong!!!)

smithy - i'm with Londonmiss in that I don't know what to do to FB so you can see the pics, so sorry!!! And yes, we haven't heard from boc for ages so hope everything is okay.

wantbaby - I haven't had any leg cramps yet, but perhaps a visit to your GP, or a chat to your midwife might be helpful. Sounds quite painful, they must be able to do something for you!

Londonmiss - I was really nervous the night before our scan too and could hardly sleep. And it will probably be the same tonight as we have our OB appointment tomorrow so we'll get the results. Like you, I worry they'll somehow know just how much chocolate i've eaten and point to some terrible deficiencies in the chicklet as a direct result... And don't be too inspired by me - it's just that I went shopping with someone infinitely more organised than me and once I saw things I liked decided I had to have them straight away. My DH is more like yours - was happy to wait until about 8 months until we bought anything so I kind of had to force him a bit, but he seems okay now!!

mitf - yay for reaching 20 weeks :clap: such a good feeling. I've even started counting down the days until I can start my mat leave now, how sad is that?!
