Hey Mako..I have another appointment tonight so hopefully will see if there is any progress...been frantically 'nesting' in the last few days...reorganising the linen and bathroom cupboards...quite rewarding actually!

I'm not very happy atm as I'm sure I'm coming down with yet another cold. This will be the 3rd this winter GRRRR. My throat is sooo sore and my head is throbbing :cry: I'll be pleased when winter is over as I hope that will be the end of the cold season in my house. I'm going to blame dh for this one and all the snotty nosed kids at work. Speaking of work I'd better go as I have to be there again in half an hour to teach the school kids and its rainning. YUK.
Howdy all us lovely newbies ... here's hoping we all have H&H pg's and end up like monnie, busily nesting and only days away from meeting our precious bundles!!!
I'm having a major meltdown today, because there's no monitoring here until about 11 weeks, this waiting is slowly driving me around the bend. I'm constantly over analysing every little jot and tiddle, making worst case senarios out of everything. I don't want to race up to the docs, 'cause no doubt everything is alright (no spotting, bleeding or cramping), and I'm trying really hard not to sound like a neurotic fruitcake (even though I have been offically diagnosed as one).
It's really hard for the both of us to admit this is real, when you've been trying for so long and it happens it's such a HUGE mind shift to admit that it IS real, that it IS progressing well, and that you have as much chance of a H&H pregnancy as anyone else. I really want to enjoy this PG, but at the moment I just can't and that's really saddening me.
Any tips to get the damn demons out of my head???

Mako - I'm getting a cold too. Doesn't help with the nausea either. Hope yours doesn't last too long. I worked with kids in a previous life and I think I had a cold/flu for about 6-months straight.
I know what you mean diva-n-dan. I think we get so focused on just getting pregnant it's hard to think beyond that. Plus, years of disappointment tends to dampen your expectations. I guess once you can see and feel it it'll become more real.
Little Ziggy will be here so soon Monnie. That's so great. Hey, are you delivering at Mercy? I think I saw a post from you about seeing a doctor from there... Just wondering cause I'm thinking we might go there, assuming I can get an appointment with someone.

The appointment went really well...Ziggy hasn't moved as yet...but hopefully he'll/she'll get the idea in the next few weeks! It was amazing talking to the Ob. about the birth...so exciting...I just can't wait for the opportunity to do this! AMAZING!
Marcellus...we are REALLY happy with Mercy! The staff seem great, the rooms are beautiful and it just seems like a hospital with a 'good feel'. Our new Ob. (Dr Thyer) is really fantastic. He's very considered and gentle...and has a great bedside manner. He's also pro-VD if possible...He was recommended to us by one of the midwives...which is always a good sign. And I've only heard good things from the other midwives regarding him. He's very busy...so might be worthwhile to give him a ring. If you see him, he's always running late (e.g. 90 minutes) BUT he then spends a good 20 minutes with you each time...which is great (I've been to other Obs. and you see them for 5 minutes). Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.
Mako...so sorry to hear that you are getting sick again. You poor chickie. Can you have a rested weekend? Hoping so! I only got up out of bed at 12pm today as I felt my throat becoming sore last night...seems to have knocked it on the head for now. Look after yourself!
Diva-n-dan...it's hard, hey? I think it's so tricky getting your mind out of the TTC mode and into pregnancy mode...but it WILL happen. My way through was just to take each day at a time...easily said, not that easy to live though...especially with all the pulling and stretching that happens...it's scary...but just say to yourself "this is my body growing for my beautiful baby"....hang in there...it definitely gets easier...and more enjoyable...don't worry you will get to the point of loving this pregnancy...it just takes time...and I think that the pain and disappointment that we have gone through as LT-ers, only deepens the love and gratefulness and appreciation we have for these beautiful gifts of life.

I know what you all mean about it not feeling real - i am still waiting for the bubble to burst - but definately not wanting it to.. I guess when we start telling people and start seeing bubba on the u/s then it will feel real
My first scan is on the 16th with FS and then the 20th with O/B. I reckon that after that it will seem real to me!!
All we can do is keep each other sane!!!!

Mako - sorry to hear you are not well...I feel so lucky me and DH both made it up to now fairly unscathed. Although i shouldn't speak too soon!
Diva - You have seen the baby on the u/s, so i'm sure all is well. I know it's just a tiny little thing, but it's changing everything inside you right now, so twinges and tweaks should be all normal.
We had the 6 week scan today. Yay. Baby's little heart was fluttering away. Quite cool. A huge milestone in our 3 1/2 year journey. DH nearly cried. I was too nervous to do anything. But the dr reassured me it was in the right place and looked fine.
So, the dr who did the scan says baby is 6 weeks and 4 days old (cos that's how big he is). FS says baby is 6 weeks and 2 days old. Which date did you guys who also did AC use? The actual date from IVF, or the scan date? Dumb question, but i just thought i'd ask!!! Am i going to be having the baby during Easter???

Wow - hi guys, despite the yucky cold/flu symptoms for you Mako - hope they go away soon, everyone else you seem to be going well which is fantastic.
Welcome Mango and Marcellous and congratulations :dance:...Mango, we're at the same stage, i'm 9.5 weeks too and was scared about a jinx, but now i've told all close friends and family, and the bosses at work. It's only colleagues and aquintances who don't know, and they'll figure it out when my belly pops...i'm such a stick figure they're sure to notice when it happens. though, they haven't noticed the dry crackers i take everywhere with me yet ;)
Oh Monnie, it's so close for you isn't it. The nesting thing sounds good, hope it comes over me in Feb 08, my linen closet could do with a spring clean not to mention the rest of the house!!! Does it come over DH too, cause our garage could do with his attention hehehe. Good Luck, hope it is a VD as you have wanted. Really, ziggy could come any time now huh?? So :happyforyou:
Kotare...congrat's on the scan. Don't worry, DH will come home and see the scan or hear your experience and be so happy. Just make sure you sign him up for the scan where he'll be able to really see the baby with a spine, all limbs and some facial features. He'll then be hooked. That's what my DH is going to do, cause he wasn't at the first scan, but after seeing the photo, i think he'd like to be there in future. Oh, and as for the 'due date'. I don't get it either, i initially worked it out that our jellybean would be due 04/03, but the sonographer said 03/03 and the FS said 05/03. I'm not quite sure what date to say, but my GP took what the FS wrote on the hospital referral as the date.
Diva-n-dan you are having all the normal responses i'm sure. This is my 1st pg and beginning at 6wks my lower abdomen was cramping, if i'd stretch the wrong way i'd get a stabbing feeling and even now if i cough i feel things piercing my guts...but you're right, so long as there's no associated bleeding the body is just preparing itself by contracting and expanding the uterus for your bubba and placenta. And at 11 weeks when you do get the checks and support, you'll no doubt be ecstatic to find that things are travelling nicely for you...:bellyrubs:
Big hello to everyone else, it's a long one i know, and i'm sorry, but it's so nice to have so many people in here sharing their experience. It really relieves me after a day at work to hear how your all going :)
Kotare...how wonderful to see your little one...and their little flashing heart...so beautiful!
I think that is one of my most favourite memories in my pregnancy...to see the little flashing light of life...beautiful!
Kimbe...wish the nesting urge would impact on DH...but it's not happening!!! He's not the most 'handy man' out there...so maybe that's it! But he's incredibly supportive about the baby...he's been reading the "birthskills" book and asking me what I want him to do in the birth...he's very caring that way!
Odette...can't wait to hear about your appointments coming up...very exciting!

I saw Dr today & everything is going well, don't have to drink the yucky stuff for diabetes test.

Mako - Dr did give me a script for something for the reflux but still not sure if I want to take it.
I know there is little risk but I'm so paronoid that something is bound to happen!

Hi everyone. Monnie, I am hanging in there and trying not to drive myself crazy. Taking one day at a time. Had my third blood test today and will get the results on Monday, if all goes well, my GP will book in an Ultrasound. Until then I am trying to chill and avoiding the net because I'm scaring myself reading too many websites. Best wishes to all.
Smegs - Awwww darling ... I wish I could say something that will take all the fear away (for purely selfish reasons, 'cause then I could use the technique on myself! lol )

Just moved over from the LTTTC thread. This is my first pregnancy after first IVF cycle, had been TTC for 2 years before. I'm really excited but also a bit in disbelief that it has finally happened, if that makes sense.

Thanks for checking up on me Rols. I hope you guys are here soon too. It took a long time and there were many ups and downs, but now we are getting used to the fact that we are just normal pg couple now. No more interventions and planning and drugs.
I feel guilt all the time from leaving the LTTTC thread where everyone was so good to me, but i don't want to keep sticking my beak in there too often, as i know that it can be a sad reminder for some of the ladies who have been there for such a long time, and have not been so fortunate as us.
We just went to the hospital for the maternity ward tour. I knew I'd be the only one without a bump! And i was! Funny - but who cares...DH was really keen to go too, and it was good to visit. We haven't decided on private or public yet. FS wants to refer me to an ob, but i think i really just want to go through the midwife care model. We have a little while yet to decide.

Jo I understand how you feel about taking medication hun. I'm also cautious about taking panadol or anything for that matter however I do take half of the prescribed dose of indigestion medicine prescribed by my Ob. I figure if I do this I'm not going to hurt my baby and atleast I try and get some relief IYKWIM.
Smegs I know what you mean about all good things come to those who wait. Just some people unfortunatley have to wait a little bit longer than others and we will all appreciate how precious these bubs are and will be when they are safe in our arms.
Monnie how are you doing today? Any sign of ziggy entering the world(pre labour)?

Doing well...pretty much spent our baby bonus today...washing machine, dryer, nursery furniture, camcorder...so I'm feeling pretty tired and financially fatigued!
No real movements from Ziggy...although I think I've had about 3 contractions so far (over the last few days)...but it's only a one-off phenomena...so I think it's a little time to go yet...
Feeling very excited though...really looking forward to the journey of birthing...seems like such an amazingly intense and emotional experience...
We do have a shortlist of names picked...but nothing confirmed...want to wait and see what he/she looks like first...and then are hoping that the name miraculously happens!!! I've always been such a 'name' person...but I'm finding the 'pressure' of giving a name really intense!!! Oh well...
Kotare...I know what you mean about leaving the LTTTC thread...it's hard, hey? It almost feels like a betrayal...but hopefully one day they will be here too!

Wow Monnie you had a busy day yesterday with all that shopping. I bet you feel relieved to have it all done now though.
I'm sure the name thing will just happen for ziggy.
I think we are pretty lucky as we've had our bubs name picked for about 3 years lol. We are keeping it a big secret as I don't like how some people think its their right to say they don't like it etc. Once bub is here and is named then its too late for people to comment.Kwim? One of my sisters friends today asked what names we've got picked and when I told her it was a suprise she just rolled her eyes in disbelief. Like its her right to know.Maybe from now on I will tell people we haven't decided yet! That may be a bit easier perhaps.
I'm really tired now as I drove to the Blue Mountains for my nephews communion. What a very long and drawn out process.(I've never been to one before so it was a bit of a shock to the system lol. I'm not catholic so I really had no idea what to expect). I have to say that DH was very lucky to get out of going. I'm a lovely wife to him lol. He went to the Sydney boat show instead.
My cold isn't too bad today although I do have a pretty bad cough and my ribs are very sore. I just hope it goes away very soon.

Thankyou all for the warm welcomes. Glad to hear that everyone is doing well, even if we are driving ourselves up the wall a little bit.
Kimbe - What's your due date? According to my last period I'm due on the 3 March. Just before my first ultrasound the doctor said that I was about six and a half weeks along. Then in measurements on the screen the ultrasound machine calculated that I was approx 7 weeks and one day. I'm going by my cycle date I think, atleast until my next scan. (Which i'm hanging for soooo badly.)
DH wasn't there for the first scan, i think he was like me, too scared that something was gonna be wrong again. But I cant wait for him to see the next one. Hopefully i wont cry like a maniac this time!
Smegs - Good luck with blood test results!!
I've got my first ob app on Tuesday, Lots of questions and prodding I
imagine.

Hope everyone is well and wonderful!
Had another busy day...think I'm just trying to distract myself from my impatience due to being 'in wait mode'...
We went to the museum today to see the National Treasures exhibition...brilliant! Although at one stage, it almost felt that my waters were going to break whilst viewing Ned Kelly's helmet...that would be a story to tell!
DH spent the day putting togethter the Ikea purchases...so feel a little more organised...although our house is a bit of a mess as we are waiting for renovations to start any day (they were supposed to be finished before the baby arrived...still haven't started....ahhhhh!!!)
Put the bassinet in our bedroom today...it really feels like this is going to happen...to think that there will be a little person sleeping in there in the next few weeks is just BIZARRE!!!

Girls, how strict are you with your food. Basically I have been told to stick to cooked whole food, no raw fish, veggies to be washed well and no soft cheeses. To eat at places where I know food is fresh. Basically I stick to this…….. is there something I am missing……

Marcellus...hope you like Dr Thyer...we really think he's great...when's your appointment? One of his receptionists (Beverly) is his wife...she's lovely...apparently they have 6 kids...most of whom have gone into medicine!
Ltl Panda...you sound like you are doing wonderfully with the food issue...can't say I was that good!!! The things I avoided were cold meats, soft cheeses, runny eggs (can't wait til I have one again...mmm), raw egg products (e.g. hollandaise sauce), food that wasn't freshly made or from a reliable source, raw fish, my normal copious amounts of wine (oh...this was hard!), donor kebabs, luke warm food...think that was about it...

Yeah...the sleep thing...I said to DH last night "sleep is just not that special companion it used to be"...don't find it that restful anymore...like someone said in my belly buddies group..."to turn over in bed is an 18 point turn!"...so true!
Had my first baby dream last night...can't believe I've never had one to date! Dreamt that the Ob. told me that the baby was only 7 months gestation and that I'd be pregnant for another 2 months yet...maybe I should call it a nightmare...LOL!!!

Monnie LOL at the almost Ned Kelly story. That sure would have been something to remember. I can't believe you've only got 1 week until your due date.(sorry to keep reminding you,its just that I'm so very excited for you hun). How exciting having the bassinette in your room. I'm still a little unsure if we'll use one or just put bub straight into the cot.

Ltl Panda Try not to worry too much about the food issue. It sounds like you've got it under control anyway. I have to admit that I'm really missing the soft cheeses and cold meats atm. I haven't missed the macca's sundaes or thickshakes like I thought I would. Maybe thats a good thing and I'll do my best not to have them anymore when bub is here with us lol.
Not heaps to report here. I am going to my gp this afternoon to get this horrible cold checked out and I have a terrible rash on my arms (looks like eczma and only had it there for the last 6 months :rolleyes: but its very itchy and gets worse when I'm in the pool at work). Bub is moving heaps when I go to bed and is very funny as he stops whenever dh puts his hand on my belly. I just wish that dh would have a chance to feel the movements more often. I have another Ob appointment Wednesday next week so I must remember to get my questions written down and I must ring them and get some specimen jars as she wanted to do some tests this time round. Not too sure if its for GD or what.

It's such a pleasure sharing my pregnancy journey with you girls....and just think....it won't be long until each of you are 39 weeks too...when I was 6 weeks, 39 weeks seemed an eternity but it's been amazing how quickly it's gone...
Having a lovely afternoon...put some beautiful essential oils on, listening to some great music and lying under a beautiful mohair rug next to the heater...doesn't get more peaceful than that!

Hi all :) Hope everyone is well, and thanks for all the good wishes. I just got back from my GP and all is well, blood levels are going up nicely so he is not going to do any more, I just have to have an ultrasound next week now. So I will be trying to forget I am pregnant again until that day comes.
It is so hard to believe I am pregnant.

Ok, so i'm kidding myself that i feel great. I have tried to pretend that i am fine, and i thought that if i ignored it and didn't verbalise it, it wouldn't be so bad. But ignoring it didn't work. I FEEL ICKY :doh:
It's hard when you are LTTTC and AC - I sort of feel I should be grateful for the m/s...at least i am pg. But it doesn't make the icky-ness any better!!!
It's not so bad though...eating little bits very often helps a lot. I can't drink a whole glass of water in one go anymore. Takes about 1hr now!!
Hope everyone is feeling well, and I am sooo looking forward to getting Monnie's pg announcement!!! Sooo exciting - that'll be all of us one day :dance:
Oh Kotare...sorry you are feeling icky...it's not nice, hey? I think you have every right to feel blurgh about the m/s regardless of LTTTC or AC...yep...it's wonderful being pregnant...but there are definite downsides to the whole experience too...and we have as much right as others to have moans and groans!
Throughout the first trimester (and some of the second...until the happy hormones kicked in), I remembered thinking "this pregnancy thing is not so great!"...I was feeling tired and blurgh most of the time...and thought that those around me were probably thinking I wasn't being very grateful or excited...but then I realised "that's okay!"...
Anyway...good on you for verbalising your ickiness...very healthy, I think!

Kotare You have as much right to complain and whinge and also enjoy(when the time comes) throughout this pregancy as any one else regardless of the way you became pregnant. There is such a stigma around when you struggle to become pregnant that you are not supposed to feel icky let alone metion that you do feel yuk kwim and its awful.
Smegs I bet you are happy that you don't have to have any more b/ts for a little while. Just sit back and relax and enjoy as much as possible now and take good care of yourself. All the best for your scan next week.

I got on ok at the gp yesterday although I do have dermetitis on my arms and is most likely related to the strong chlorine in the pool at work. I do have some cream to put on so that should help clear it up. I'm disappointed now though as my gp told me that she is leaving next week. I have been going to her for years and was hoping that she'd get to meet our baby. I told her that we are having a baby boy and told her what his name will be. She said she hadn't heared it before and that she loved it. I love the fact that we've decided on a name that isn't too common :D
Anyway I'd better go as my dog is due to get a bath anytime now and I have to go back to work soon too. I'll come back in tomorrow to see how everyone is going.

Smegs, enjoy the stick-free times. I find it kinda annoying to be kept hanging on like this. It's like every good result I have is just conditional on the next one... Think it would be easier to just be left alone.
I know what you mean about whinging. I've been complaining to DH and my family about how bad I feel, but not to my LTTTC friend, cause I figure she probably doesn't want to hear about it. Another friend (who got pg accidentally - gah, that still bothers me, though it shouldn't) I can talk about it with, though she's not terribly sympathetic.
Oh yeah, almost everybody knows we're pg cause we were doing IVF. Didn't tell other relatives, but then I ended up in hospital because of OHSS and mum told all about IVF. My aunt asked mum the other day "So, this IVF attempt, it didn't work?". Mum's like, er, No, not really... she so can't lie. One of my cousins did IVF a bunch of times and probably knows that if OHSS doesn't go away it means you're likely pg. Oh well... Anyway, my big bloated belly is the other thing I've been whinging about.

Mako - you seem very active and busy. I hope your skin clears soon, and also did you get your gp to recommend someone else? Once i got my gp to recommend someone else where i was moving too, as they often meet great people at conferences etc.
