Miscarriage at 4 weeks

Hi all,

This was my first Pregnancy and I misscarried at 4 weeks (today), and I have a few questions...spoke with my Gyno and he said that I should start bleeding soon and that it will last a few days and then I will get my period about 2 weeks later? He also said that as soon as my period is over, I should be good to go again as I had an early loss. Is that accurate? I don't really understand how it all works.

My stomach feels all tight. I'm not bleeding yet and I don't feel sick or anything - it just doesn't feel right?

The only thing that I can take from this is that my body is doing this for a reason, its like natural selection, Doc said it was nothing to worry about and that I am fertile and will fall again soon. I just hope he is right and my dreams of becoming a mummy are just around the corner.

Hi blondie - sorry to hear your sad news but I wanted to give you something positive to take away. My friend miscarried at 9w last year, and within her next cycle got pregnant (I think it was only 3 weeks later) and is now currently 16w pregnant with no problems at all. As long as you are comfortable trying again, then there is no reason why you shouldn't. Good luck x

sorry for your loss, this is such a hard time but yes, if you feel ready, you can start trying again as soon as you have stopped bleeding.

Oh darl! BIIIIG HUGS! I'm sooo sorry for your loss! I had the same thing last cycle (as I'm sure you have read in our thread). You are almost always most fertile in the first cycle after a mc (something about the hormones). You may even not get AF again until its normal time. It is different for everyone, so I don't know what your gyno was saying about getting AF two weeks after the bleeding stops, it will always come 2 weeks after you ovulate unless you have a short LP, so unless you ovulate the day after the bleeding stops I don't think you'll get AF automatically 2 weeks afterwards.
Also, most doctors these days will give you the go ahead to TTC straight away once the bleeding stops too (though I was told in the past to wait 3 months to allow my body to recover, it seems new research says there is no difference in the amount of time you wait).

Firstly I want to say how sorry I am for your loss, it is a horrible thing to experience and it can be very confusing!

I miscarried quite early with our first little bub and it chose to stay in there despite the Dr telling me it would 'come away' eventually. We waited about 3 1/2 weeks and it just didnt happen, I had to have a D&C in the end. I think the 'average' healthy fertile couple only have a 1 in 4 chance of falling pregnant on any given month, so its a wonder anyone is pregnant if you ask me! But unfortunately the Gyno telling you it is nothing to worry about really isnt a very useful thing to say....it is something that has happened and it is a painful thing to feel. It was and is still your little angel.

We tried again after I healed from the laparoscopy and D&C and we were extremely fortunate in falling pregnant again within a few months, which was very shocking since we had been TTC for 5 years and had so much unsuccessful IVF behind us!

I hope this at least gives you a bit of comfort that it can happen again, but please understand that you need to grieve this little angel for who it is, another pregnancy may lessen the blow but I found it opened a whole different can of worms as well.

Thanks Ladies for you advice. Everyone has been so supportive my mum has come out of the woodwork saying she has had one, and my DF's step mum has had 4 -one of which she carried until 4 months.

Is it normal for it to take a while to before your body rejects it and you bleed? I am still waiting to bleed....nothing as yet - hence the reason I can't sleep This might sound weird but I don't think the situation is helping me by not having many symptoms...I keep thinking "maybe the Doc is wrong and I am still pregnant"

I hoping that because we fell pregnant so quickly this month it will be easy for us next time.

Hi Hun so sorry to hear your sad news, but just wondering if you have had no bleeding and only 4 weeks!!! then how did the doctor come to the conculsion your miscarring your little bub!

was it blood tests, what symptoms did you have to think it may be a miss...

Im a little confused to be honest!

although I do want to add that I had a miscarriage at what should of been 9 weeks but baby stopped at 6 weeks I noticed something changed morning sickness went, tiredness went then I had the littest bit of spotting I went to the early pregnancy unit they kept me in thinking etopic and I had what was basically like labour intense pain and bleeding with clots. but like you I was given the go ahead to try as soon as I had a normal period well it never came LOL I ovulated straight away after bleeding stopped and had a very healthy baby boy!

Well the story goes - I tested at a day before my period was due (Monday) and got a BFP, the same day Doc said to go and get a blood test to confirm. I got the blood test and the HCG levels were 25. He then said that they will follow up with a blood test on Wednesday (yesterday) to make sure my levels are rising, got the results back and unfortunatly they dropped to 17. They told me when the hormones start dropping off that the Pregnancy is not viable.

Thanks for checking up on me No I don't think so...I think in a couple of weeks if my body hasn't bled then I will have another BT to make sure the levels are retuning to normal. I googled why I hadn't bled yet and got the answer that the Hormone Levels must drop before your body realises its no longer pregnant and then it will happen....so I might have to wait a few more days.

I'm trying to think positively about it all and am now of the opinion that is just natures way and soon my body will be ready to try again

I was the same actually, only I did not know on till I actually had spotting that something was wrong I should have been around8 to 9 weeks baby passed at 6 weeks. hope fully its all over soon and you can begin again. I would recommend doing something in memory of the little bub plant a tree something to say good bye and make peace.
