Bimboo - Welcome and congratulations on your twins! I am sorry for the loss of their sibling. Feel free to discuss any concerns here. This IS the place for it. The ladies here are wonderful. There's not much I can say to ease the anxiety. All any of us can do is take it one day at a time. It won't be long now and you'll be feeling regular movements. Some of the ladies here have invested in dopplers to help them through. I wish you all the best.

pash - Wow you're brave hosting Christmas this year! Goodluck with the GTT next week, I hope it comes back negative so that's one less thing for your to worry about. You certainly have a lot on your plate at the moment. I hope your finding time to rest.

AFM - Just got back from having blood drawn for my OGCT. I'll get the results tomorrow. I'm so over the work thing now. I'm going to finish up at the end of October and enjoy my time at home to focus of getting ready for my baby girl's arrival. I need to accept that I am not responsible for everyone and everything. They've known since June that I'll be leaving so there's no need for me to feel guilty over someone else quitting suddenly.

hi everyone

i had my nt scan yesterday and got my combined results today. they came back with adjusted risk of downes 1:737 which put me at low risk. however, my nuchal reading was 2.77mm which puts me over the 95% mark. Ob has suggested i have amneo at 15 weeks. dh is in perth til saturday so i don't want to tell him over the phone. i wouldn't terminate if it does have downes but i think we would both want to be prepared if it did and not get the shock at the birth. i have googled stuff this morning and sooo many girls with readings over 3 & 4mm have gone on to have healthy babies. i wish i didn't have the test to start with. ob said risk of m/c with amneo could be 1:1000 because of me having at 15 weeks and not later. he said everything should or could be ok. can't remember which word now. was in shock. dh and i see him on monday to get referral for amneo. i just think it would do my head in not knowing now and i want to enjoy my pg either way and not be wondering all the time. my gut feeling is that it is truely all ok. it was amazing to see its arms and legs. it had the hiccups. it was hilarious. i feel fully bonded with my baby after yesterday.

i guess some of us just have a bit of a rocky road to the end prize compared to some.

Zstar - I had CVS testing at 11 weeks and 2 days as my Ob picked up nuchal fluid at a 9 week scan in his office. It was confirmed at the specialist ultrasound place, I think the fluid was 3.3. I didn even have the nuchal scan as the fluid was so obvious. I was told it was an indicator of a chromosonal prob and it could have been a fatal trisomy, however, the CVS tests all came back normal and the fluid had completely resolved by 19 weeks. I have been tld now that we will never know why bubs had such a high reading. They checked her heart out very carefully too on multiple specialist scans and as you can see I am due in a few short weeks. Really hope you get some answers soon as I know the wait can be awful. Ask to speak to a geneticist as this really helped me understand things!

Hi Girls,

just thought i'd pop in to say hi cause i got a BFP on monday! i know some of you from the ttc after loss thread and was looking forward to joining you all in this group.

well i am currently 15dpo and just got my hcg test back from yesterday which was 92 at 14dpo. does anyone know if this is ok? my gp has given my three bt requests which i was going to do weekly, but think i might do another tomorrow to check the doubling of the levels. does that sound like the right thing to do?

i have also had killer back pain! i do have a 13kg 14m ds which i'm sure doesn't help but OMG it just aches - is that normal too? now this is going to make me sound completely paranoid and make me look like a fruitcake, but i have this fear of ectopic pregnancy. i had a lap appendix removal in july and i just have this fear that they damaged my tubes or there are adhesions. whenever i look up ectopic preg one of the risk factors is recent abdominal surgery and appendix removal - great! would love some thoughts or advice on this if anyone has any.

aside from all of that - dh and i are very ver excited after a yucky last 6 months so praying and praying and hoping and crossing everything that this bubba stays with us.

I thought I'd pop in here for the last 4 weeks of the pregnancy - I've seen alot of you ladies in TTC threads and others I've seen around the site :hello:

Just have to say CONGRATULATIONS to both CHAPPAS (who WAS my due date buddy - OK - I give up you win! :lol:) and to MeredithD on that long awaited wonderful little girl!!! Depending on the next day I will try and see birth announcements and leave a message there for each of them!!

Easha - IKWYM - last two weeks have been engaged and having fierce pre-labour contractions and backaches - you do get over it!:rolleyes: Hopefully - sooner than later for you!

Welcome to new members on the thread - I am a little distracted today - so if I can I will get back to do proper persies!

HannahD - I had the same prob letting go of work because you like to leave everything as schmick as you would like it to be for you - so I can sympathise - handed the keys in only this week despite being on leave since July - how bloody sad am I???

zstar - I hope everything goes well with your test sweeting - a little knowledge is often a double-edged sword for us when we are pg

I hope everyone is going well and that we will see some more little ones joining us!

AFM - sadly we had to put our last dog Shamus the wonder dog of 12 years down last week which was very hard but we have with our DD scattered him with his 16 year old companion Zuna who passed away last year together in the vegie garden so they can play forever and DD wanted to be able to visit them and have a yarn from time to time - I can't believe a 4 yr old handled it so well!

My waters broke at 6.30am this morning and the contractions are getting harder and more noticeable but do not seem active/first stage to me as of yet (but I appreciate they might be different to the first time) - I have to ring my midwife again at 5 pm and she is coming to do a heart and general check - my wonderful friend is here and is coming over tonight to do a massage and bring a 'groaning cake' - yes it is for birth/after-birth and features blackstrap molasses for strength - it is one of these wonderful 16th century traditions my friend loves so much. Depending on how the contractions shape up - she may or may not stay to help look after DD during the birth. We have uploaded our birthing soundtrack and we are tidying up and organising our birthing space in the lounge at the moment so it is nice to be in such a wonderful frame compared to our first disorganised space in homebirthing. I wish everyone a great weekend - I have no idea if bub will present in the next 24 hours or it could be a little longer - we'll have to see - I remember my friend had her waters break/a show on the Sunday and didn't birth her bub until the next Saturday so I appreciate I shouldn't get too hooked on 'when'. Very excited! :dance:

jules - Congratulations on your :bfp: Wishing you a happy, healthy and sticky 8 months or so. My suggestion is to see your doc as soon as you can so that you can discuss your concerns about an ectopic and they can monitor you through this early stage :stickyvibesboy:

AFM - I'm home from work today. I woke up this morning with bad lower back pain, like period cramps. They come and go but not with any regularity, so I don't think its anything serious, just uncomfortable. Sometimes I'll feel cramps in my lower abdomen as well, but usually its when bubs is moving around. I spoke to my midwife this morning (I had to call for my GCT results anyway) and she wasn't overly concerned since the pain is mostly in my back, told me to take 2 panadol, apply some heat and rest for the day. So, that's exactly what I'm doing. By the way, my GCT results came back normal. Yay! And my haemoglobin looks good too :dance:

Thanks Hannah :) I've been meaning to pop in here every now and then but just don't because I have the good ol' baby brain hit me!

Getting plenty of kicks and knees and feelings of our lil one trying to claw his way out. Just got home from the shops and in the middle of the shops I had a lil bit of stomach pain (like period pain) that made me feel nauseous and made me double over, but lasted for around a minute, then I was ok again.. No idea what it was, but I just hope it doesn't happen again - not for a while!

HannahD: hope you are feeling better - I wonder if you are having braxton-hicks contractions - I get them all the time (from about 25 weeks) but they are not really painful so not sure. Rest up. WCH is a great hospital - I am sure you will be in excellent hands there with the midwifery clinic.

AFM: 38 weeks today - very ready for baby to come - just want to see her in person now and make sure all is okay. Feeling settled in my new/old house and loving the extra space here and the fact that I have my nursery set up and ready to go. Baby's head is low and I keep getting very wierd groin cramps (not like period pain - more in upper inner leg/groin area) that sometimes make it difficult to walk around. Hoping that is everything just stretching in preparation - has anyone else experienced this - they last just a second but sometimes one after another for a few minutes.

babymiracles - Thanks :) I remember you too :) I am the same as you personally - though I've got a little longer than you to go! I just wanna meet the lil man that's giving his mum plenty of kicks and knees and elbows and fists :p Good to hear you've got your nursery all set up. Ours isn't because we've been waiting for my inheritance money to come in and now that we're waiting for it to clear in the bank, we've got a small list of stuff we still need to get for the nursery (eg. Change table, an extra set of drawers - or two!)

Got my MIL and FIL coming to help me with cleaning today, although I've already done the dishes, took yesterdays washing off the line, put in a new load, moved a few things around in the nursery, and collected all the dirty clothes and put them in the laundry.. I'll be surprised if there is anything left for them to help me with when they get here!

Babymiracles - just wanted to let you know had lots of the 'OMG need to stop walking as gripping pain afflicts upper legs/groin' - particularly for me on my right side where my dodgy hip was - it happened a lot in the last month of this pg although it wasn't such an issue last one - think bub was sitting on something sensitive this time - had fun freaking out random shoppers in the dairy cabinet at the supermarket when I had to reach over and grip shelves until it passed :lol: (Sorry, twisted bunny...)

Well - Joss Tait arrived yesterday with a bang!! Waters broke at 6.30am but day was full of irregular fluffy type sensations so I relaxed a bit thinking it would be some time before we met bub - should have known better! At 6pm, like a lightswitch, suddenly burst into full active first stage - rang midwife, rang friend and by 7.30pm both were at our place and I was echoing down the street apparently :doh: By 8.15pm was getting ready to push and clambered out of bathtub to give 6 great heaves and our DS was born in our loungeroom, like his sister, at 8.37pm - very healthy, no real trauma for me and we finished up with mimosas and groaning cake while the washing finished and the bed was made up - still stunned but you get that :)

Thank you to everyone for their wishes, especially for our homebirth and support - it has been wonderful - I hope to keep popping in to see everyone hold their little ones!

Welcome Juleswa. I'd go and get the beta HCG tests every couple of days too. I don't think I'd have th epatience to wait a whole week. But then, if you do them all now, it's a long wait to the first scan. So maybe spacing them out is good too. Dunno. Hope this is a healthy sticky bub who will stay with you for life. xo

Question for anyone who's been through labour (or is in labour): Do contractions feel like leg cramps only on the belly? Do you get leg cramps while in labour?
