I got very drunk last night... THANK GOD! I have a dr's app today to get another HCG test but it is pointless as the scan showed no signs of pregnancy.... Is it worth having so that I can compare them for my next pregnancy? I kinda think that each pg is different and why bother iykwim? I had a HCG test on Monday (the day I actually miscarried) and if the scan had of been ok the one today would have showed me in the HCG was going up or down.... obviously it is going down! What do you all reckon?
I am off to work now for 3 hours than I have the day off with dh again....
Cherished, I'd be inclined to get it checked just to make sure that it really is going down - you are right though, I wouldn't use it to compare your next pregnancy, they are all different. Certainly my HCG levels were higher in my pregnancy that miscarried at 12 weeks than they have been in this one, so I personally don't think it is helpful to compare.
Cherished I'm so sorry, that is just devastating to both you and DH.
About the HCG, I would get the test just in case. Two reasons: 1) I had no heartbeat at my 6wk scan, and I was spotting with (small) clots. I (and my London Ob) thought it was all over, so I drank some wine, ate half a wheel of camembert. The next week, flew back to Aus, saw my Aussie ob, and there was a heartbeat on the scan. I don't want to give you false hope, but it is good to be sure. 2) If it is all over, It's good to know that that your HCG has gone back down to normal and that your body is coping. It's not much fun and you can always POAS later to make sure your HCG is back down I guess.
I'm so sorry that you have to go through this again. It's just not fair. You're such a strong chick to head to work after this. Take care of you both
Lee Not good that the MS & tiredness is knocking you about, but the midday naps sound lovely. Wish I could have a bit of that too! All the best for your NT scan tomorrow. Will be thinking of you. I totally understand that sweaty-palmed-deer-in-the-headlights feeling just before a scan. Do they do BTs as well for the NT risk?
Oh, and I won't be finding out whether monkey is sporting a cheeseburger/hot dog! I'm not really a pink-for-girl-blue-for-boy kinda girl. And in my culture, we're theoretically not meant to name or buy anything for the baby until it's born anyway. Not that we'll stick to that exactly. But I think we'll love it no matter what, so we'll just wait and see. Are you going to find out?
AFM I had an appt with the MW today, and the HB sounded good to me. Though she didn't do the 2nd of the NT bloods cos I'd been bleeding and apparently that can falsely push up the risk? Don't know why? If I keep bleeding, she said I should come in and see one of the Obs on Friday to try to figure out why I'm still bleeding (and still no exercise, no DTD). Otherwise NT bloods next week.
Thanks Megs mum and pash, I know what you mean about being told it is all over with no heart beat etc and then finding one... but the scan showed no signs of pregnancy, no sack, no fetal pole, no heartbeat etc .... she said if I am still pregnant it is not a normal scan and based on the description of what I passed on Monday I did have a misscarriage. She did an ultrasound on the stomach and an internal one just to make sure but she couldnt' see any signs of pregnancy..... I will ge tthe tests done anyway it's not far out of my way so I will go.
Oh Cherished - so so sorry to hear of your loss. Just so devastating as we all know. Might be worth thinking about asking your Dr for some extra tests given this is your 2nd m/c. A lot will just recc having them after 3 losses but I requested them after my 2nd. I couldn't bear the thought of going through another loss if there was something that maybe could be done.
I hope you can take some time off to recover an grieve for your angel.
Cherished - I`m so sorry hun, yes I`d get another hcg BT just to make sure the levels are dropping, I had both a scan and HCG levels checked when I miscarried just before I conceived this little boy I`m carrying now.
