WTH oh silent reflux sound awful, good you knew what you're looking for though. hope it works out.
Wow it's hot, i was naughty today I let my class go at 1pm not 4pm. I was so stuffed, my feet swelled up and I could hear my heart beat I was going with or without them today. I haven't got a phone call so I'm hoping it ok.
DF is off to his place for a day trip today, I bet he'll be so tired when he gets home at 9pm. I'm trying to stay awake but no promisses.
I really do hope summer cools down a little or heat followed by a couple of days of warm if it's 39+ till squeak is born I don't think I'll make many more weeks of work. can't change the weather can we.
WT Hope - Thanks for the welcome. Poor DS that sounds so painful!! Hope the meds sort him out soon.
Greenslw - Sounds uncomfortable. I'm sure your class was thrlled to be let go early. I'm sure they understood too. I'm in the exact opposite boat here. Winter has arrived this week and it has gotten very cold. It even snowed here yesterday! Even with fleece jammies and my wood stove going I can't seem to get worm. I'm having a terrible time regulating my temperature.
Twin Sister,
last week I would have done anything for a day of snow! Our ducted aircon broke down just before a long week of quite hot weather hit Melbourne. Admittedly I don't have it anywhere near as bad as Greenslw in Adelaide as it's always hotter there than here but man it was difficult. Today I get to hang around at home and wait for the aircon techs to turn up and fix our system (second year running for this to happen!)
Greenslw, having just said that, I just saw a weather report for Adelaide - 41 tomorrow and Thursday. Oh hon, I feel for you. Maybe take a bucket to class with you that you can fill with cold water/ice to cool you during the day. Do you have a 'go home' temperature there? Very good to see you've dropped your hours at work now, I admire you ladies who work through pregnancy. I'm on my third and have not worked in any for various reasons. Though I did do a couple of weeks work recently for my sis which was good fun.
zstar good to see your ultrasound went well and congrats on the little boy result Glad everything is going well for you!
AFM - the bump is going haywire here. She is very active and is clearly visible in her kicks these days. I've picked up a sinus infection which is driving me nuts but at least it hasn't descended into my chest to become the chest infection DD1 has just gotten over. (or the swine flu her father, my ex, has recently spent time in hospital for)
trust everyone is doing well. TwinSis, hope you can warm up and for everyone else suffering through heat in Aus, hope you can cool down!
Anyone suffering the heat over there is welcome to come visit me and cool off in the snow! DS is very excited about it. he's seen snow before but this is the first year he's old enough to appreciate it and he's having a lot of fun playing in it.
Twin Sister, thanks for the invite, my Dad, Brother and SIL with my two cute nephews live in Alberta Canada. I love the idea of nights in the snow and days in Australia. I spent a Chrstmas there -37C is not for me. Pretty but freezing. were are you again? Baby Brain.
Smallfry: swine flue wow that's a bit too close to home. Gladd DD1 is picking up. Are you on any meds for your nose. I hope it stays north and doesn't decend to your chest.
ATM haven't popped my nose outside yet since coming to work it was 27C at 8.15am and it's suposed to be 43 today. I'm going to stay inside as long as I can.
Last day of teaching Saturday I'm so looking forward to having my weekends back again. I'll still be at my other job for another 27 work days (much better than 7 weeks) but the end is comming.
Squeak has been a little less active this week, less big movements and more little ones. I woke up last night with an incredible stabbing pain in my side, little darling had it's foot in my ribs. I guess there is less and less rome in there.
I'm in Terrace British Columbia. Since BC is on the coast we thankfully never get -37 degree weather, but we do get lots of snow as I'm pretty far North. When I was in Vancouver (also on the coast) it never got very cold and we saw barley any snow, but it rains there TONS. I think I'm preferring the snow to the rain.
So today i bit the bullet and went and got the swine flu vaccine on my doctors recommendation. He said the risks of me dying form swine flu complications were greater than the risk of miscarriage form the vaccine so I decide to do it. I made sure they gave me only the unadjuvanted, thimerosol free one and requested the same one for my DS. it's a relief not to be stressing over it anymore, I think it will all be ok.
Twin Sister,
I think If it was winter here I would have got the vacine too my brother and nephews all had swine flue a couple of months ago. Really nocked them around. I really like Vancouver, the mountiains in the distance is so different from Australia. Edmonton is pretty flat not as pretty and driving is so scary.
I'm looking forward to seeing Canada in the spring in a couple of years. We're going to get off in Vancouver, go to Vancouver Island and drive to Edmonton. probably May 2012. Lots of time for saving.
I started losing my mucous plug last night. It kind of freaked me out as I'm not quite ready for bubs to come yet. As keen as I am to meet her I think I need at least one more week. But at my 38wk appointment this morning my midwife assured me that losing the mucous plug doesn't mean anything as labour it could still be a month away (I know I want more time, but not that long lol). Also, bubs has moved back up and is no longer engaged at all (was 3/5 engaged at my last appointment). But the midwife did say that sometimes they come back up if the bladder is full, which mine was getting close.
At least the weather has cooled in Adelaide this week. DH and I were finally able to paint the nursery on the weekend as it was cool enough. We'll be getting carpet in this weekend and then its just a matter of setting up the furniture. I can't believe I'm so close to meeting my girl.
Hey HannahD, sounds very exciting for you! Midwife is right, can take a while after the plug comes before the baby does. I was around two weeks with both of my daughters.
Good luck!!
Hannah, I had DD1 the day after I lost my plug LOL although I'm sure you don't want to hear that!! With E though I never lost the plug, so I wouldn't get too worried either - your midwife is right bub could still be a while away yet.
Not sure if anyone remembers me, it has been ages since I last posted. I have been laying low for a couple of weeks since my amnio. Actually we have had a pretty crappy time. Thankfully all is well with the baby- before any of you guys start to worry. It started just after my amnio, when my mother found a lump in her breast and has since been diagnosed with breast cancer. Then a couple of days latter my uncle (dad's brother) was killed in a car accident when he was working in NSW. Apologies for not posting for ages.
Recently I had my 20 week scan, and thankfully everything looked great. I am feeling bubs move lots now which has put my mind at ease quite a bit. We decided not to find out the gender after the amnio and we were asked again at the scan- now it is doing my head in not knowing. It will be great to have a surprise however I am worried that if it is a girl she will have no name as DH and I are having a hard time agreeing on a girls name. Thankfully boys are sorted.
Greenslw- we have been hearing about the heat wave in adelaide, must be very hard. Great to see your ticker progressing well.
Z-star- I know I pm you after your amnio but congrats on your little man. Hopefully you guys are having no arguments re: names.
HannahD- like megs mum I went into labour a day or so after losing my plug, although I am sure the midwife knows more about it than us. Good luck getting the nursery finished- you sure are cutting it fine.
WTH- sorry to hear about DS reflux hopefully you are starting to see some improvement with the meds.
Smallfry- I too am appreciative for the change in the weather. It was challenging for me (even with our aircon working) to keep DS inside.
Hope all the other mum's to be are doing well and I look forward to chatting with you all in the future, fingers crossed that things slow down a little for me know.
I have just officially started maternity leave. OK baby, give me a week to clean this place up, then you can come.
Josh's mum - so sorry to hear about your mum and your uncle, my thoughts are with you. Great news on the scan/amnio, bet you're enjoying all those little bumps, your little one is giving you.
Hannah - With Ds1 I lost my plug only days before he was born, with Ds2, I can't remember losing it with him at all, but I was induced post dates as well.
Megsmum - nice to see you pop in
to everyone else. I know that I will miss someone if I try to do persies for each and everyone of you, so now that I have a little more time, I'll try to pop in more often.
AFM - still going along just fine, have next Ob appoint on Tuesday, so guess I'll find out from there what is going on.
Josh'smum, glad you cleared up early that all was well with baby, I immediately was worried! Very sorry to hear about all the stress with your mum and your uncle though. A very hard time for you and your family. My thoughts are with you.
Mollycat - hooray for maternity leave!
Greenslw- glad your weekends are yours again. Not too long now for you! My nose cleared itself up after threatening ear infections for around 12 hours, long enough to make a docs appointment and then sleep it off and cancel the appointment! No need to take anything in the end which was good.
Question - has anyone found that they've started getting headaches again? I can't work out why I'm getting them again. I had them til around 18 weeks or something (daily) and then they left but in the last week or so they've come back again as a daily thing. Doesn't seem to be food or weather or drink (or lack of) related. Can't work it out.
I thought this thread had died but i just found it...
joshsmum - great to hear from you. sorry about all your ups and downs. i hope things settle for you very soon!
mollycat - wahoo! i can't wait for my last day to come...long way off yet! yeah for you.
hannahd - good luck with everything.....
greenslw - you are on the work count down too...lucky you
big hi to everyone else. afm - all going well. he didn't move much on sunday and monday but is back to his normal kicking around self which suits me just fine. my tummy is getting bigger all the time and i love it. i am working long hours but seem to be coping well for now. it is such a special time having this bub in my belly. we are so lucky. hope everyone is well and happy! i turned 34 this week. getting on. mum made me a wicked icecream cake loaded with mars bars, cheery rips, boosts, bountys, crunchies and so on. then covered in ice magic - same cake she made me for my 13th. those were the days. so looking forward to meeting my little mate. be good girls!
Oh Hannah I hope you are ok I guess bubs comes when they're ready not when we are although it can take up to a week, look after yourself and yaya for the cooler weather. Hope the baby's room is done and you are relaxing.
Welcome back Josh'smum. Glad your 20wk scan went well. thanks for the cool wishes thank goodness the heat left. and without too many bush fires
Mollcat yaya for maternity leave enjoy your time off. hope next ob appointment went well.
Smallfry gald no meds and it cleared up. I get headaches on and off are you drinking enough water? that was my issue.
zstar when are you ending the dreaded work? my bubba seams to have quiet days. I get so tired did you? I think it must be growing.
ATM having a nice LONG weekend and haven't checked my work emails I'm only in work one day this week but off to an all of unit day Wednesday at the botanic gardens I don't have to do anything just enjoy great.
I've been reflecting on 3 months off and need to do some number crunching cos I"d love 6. But not sure I can afford it. and with childcare going in terms I need to decide one way or the other BUGGA not so flexible even when they are infants!
zstar, that cake sounds spectacularly tasty I turned 33 the day you posted happy birthday to us huh?!! I didn't get a cake but DH took me to my favourite vegetarian restaurant for dinner and it was so good that I rolled back to the car afterwards!
Hannahd, how're things going with you? Still waiting?
greenslw sounds like a great way to work - one day each week would be great (well, assuming it was able to pay the bills it needed to anyway!) but it certainly sounds like you need it. Not long now!
Re headaches, I think I drink too much water and that may be what's bringing on the headaches but I have ob appointment in a couple of hours so I'll ask her about it when I'm in there. I've started drinking a bit of gatorade/powerade during the day to see if that helps as I've been drinking 5 - 6 litres of water a day and another couple overnight (makes for great sleep interruptions!)
I reckon if you're able to take 6 months off it would be worth it. I know a number of women who have ended up extending their maternity leave because they've done the math on childcare and decided it was cheaper to stay home for longer. I used to have my two in for a day a week and it cost close to $100 after subsidy from government.
AFM, ob appointment as mentioned and I'll be up for the wonderful glucose test to check for gestational diabetes. Can't believe I've hit 28 weeks now. Time flies. My daughters are loving the growing belly and give it hugs and kisses all the time to let their little sister know how much they love her already. It's very sweet. Still trying to decide on names, though I already have one picked DH hasn't quite agreed to it yet. Fingers crossed there because I already think of her as being named that!
Hi to all of you - joshsmum, twinsis, mollycat, zstar, hannahd, greenslw ... and those I've missed.
I had my 37w appointment yesterday. All still going well, but bub is not engaged yet. I asked my Ob if he would induce me, but until bub decides to engage he won't consider it.
Sooooooooooo, I'm now in the process of encouraging bub to engage, I want to deliver before my due date for a number of reasons, (firstly it's my MIL & Sister's birthdays, and I can't handle the thought of bub sharing the date with them - (shudder), I want to be home before Christmas, and as my Ob says, this is such a special baby, he can understand why bub needs to be on the outside. On top of these, both my boys were overdue, and I don't want to go overdue again.
Hannah - How are you going, must be sooo close for you now. Can't wait to hear your news.
Smallfry - wow, 28 weeks, won't be long your bub will be here.
Sorry everyone else, was going to try a few more persies, but I'm being hassled for the computer (teenagers, grrr), so I'll try and get back later.
